The funny bone cake, chocolate cake with peanut butter buttercream, is delish.

This place is a MUST if you visit Maine! I make my friends go there multiple times during our stay in Ogunquit. Everything tastes delicious. I don’t know if I’m the only one but sometimes I notice that at bakeries pastries and cakes kind of taste the same not matter the ingredients. I’ve never experienced this with Bread and Roses! They have a HUGE selection of pastries, cakes, breads and coffee drinks. I have a few favorites but my top three cakes are the Carrot Cake, The Chocolate Raspberry and their Mocha Truffle cake. Their prices are also amazing. I would say cheaper than many of the bakeries I visit in my hometown of Worcester and let me tell ya that Worcester is not a tourist attraction ATALL! So get your tubber behind to Bread and Roses and thank me later!

A quaint little bakery in the somewhat touristy town of Ogunquit. But that’s what you should expect on the southern coastline of Maine. The variety of baked goods here was a pleasant surprise, considering the small footprint of the building. I bought an apple turnover to eat for dessert after chowing down at Bob’s Clam Hut, a giant oatmeal raisin and chocolate chip cookie for today, and some sort of overly sweet fruit square that my son recommended I try. He’s been here before while vacationing with his missus. The turnover was delightfully light, flaky, and had just the right amount of sweetness and apple filling. Awesome! The cookies were two of the best of their kind in memory! Very good! I can see why this shop is more than just your typical tourist trap. It serves great pastries, cakes, and other baked goods to all the locals, as well as we winter«tourists». I was surprised at the number of shops that were open this late in the year, considering that the tourists have gone back home for the season. The gorgeous and unseasonably warm December weather undoubtedly contributed to the fairly high volume of foot traffic that included us. The woman in the bakery said most of the shops still open, will close after Christmas and reopen in spring. Makes sense.

This is a review of the coffee. We had just eaten dinner, we were very full, and just dropped by for some coffee. They totally got it right: it was delicious coffee and the people who wanted decaf actually got decaf and slept through the night. This doesn’t sound like a big thing but it really sucks when they screw it up. There wasn’t much in the way of fresh baked goods at night but what was there really looked good. I want to come back to Bread and Roses some time and bring home something amazing.

Don’t miss this stop in Ogunquit! We followed the Unilocal reviews and stopped in for a cappuccino and latte. Delicious! Not everyone gets them right but Bread and Roses have it perfect! Also a delicious assortment of baked treats, cakes, tarts, breads, baguette sandwiches etc. There’s a small side alley with table and chairs to enjoy it and get out of the sun. We have been in here every day of our stay in Ogunquit! This will be our coffee stop whenever we are nearby.

You can’t go wrong with a pastry, smoothie, maybe another pastry and something delicious to drink. Bread and Roses is the place to be for all the above. Whenever I am in Ogunquit, I make it a habit to come in and have my usual. I get a slice of German chocolate cake and a cup of tea or a mango smoothie if the day calls for one! Aside from German chocolate cake, there are assorted pastries and fresh bread sold at this bakery. I have noticed they carry vegan pastries such as the raspberry twist and had last time I was there and loved it! From time to time, a vegan pastry is quite filling. As for beverages, you can order tea, Carpe Diem coffee, espresso drinks and smoothies. Since fall is approaching, they are selling Pumpkin Spice Lattes! I love how the staff are friendly, helpful and funny! Enjoy your scrumptious treat and drink of your choice at a table outside if the weather permits.

We stopped by this packed bakery after stopping by the candy shop since M. saw large cinnamon buns in the window. It was quite busy and we got the cream puff(chocolate covered, huge), 2 Napoleons and 2 cinnamon buns(get 2 for the price of 2). The cream puff was great. The pastry was soft yet had a crunch(hard to describe but it felt right and it was fresh). The cream was not buttermilk(thank you) and it was not too sweet combined with the chocolate. P. and RH tried the Napoleon and said it was great. The puff pastry, in their opinion was the best part(with the top layer). M. did not like the cinnamon buns(evidenced by the leftover bun in the fridge) but also liked the Napoleon. Portions were quite large(chocolate chip cookies were like the size of a dinner plate) but the bakery was small and crowded. Next time, we’ll try the cakes but we were in a hurry to order since P. was heading over to pick us up so we didn’t have much time to admire the nice cakes. Décor was nice — the balance between the wood and glass gave it a welcoming feeling.

Bread and Roses bakery is a popular spot among locals and travelers alike. The decors gives a very welcoming feel with the wood & glass displays. As soon as I walked in, I could smell the sweet smells of pies/cookies/tarts baking in the oven. They have a great selection of baked goods — I tried their Blueberry Bar and one of their Freshly Baked Rolls with a hot cup of coffee. Everything was delicious, artfully baked and you could tell… made with fresh, local ingredients. They purchase over 7,000 lbs of blueberries that they incorporate in a lot of their baked goods. Same goes for apples which is great. This bakery started off small but turned into something really special. They have a great following and are churning out quality products. When I return to Ogunquit, this will be on my list of places to re-visit for sure.

Lovely bakery that we frequented whilst staying in Ogunquit. They have a great selection of cakes, cookies, pastries, muffins, breads, and a few savory things as well. During our time here we had a couple of muffins(coffee and walnut — tasted mostly like coffee cake but had a great brown-sugar crunchy base! — and the lemon poppyseed), cookies(they are monstrous in size but soooo good), some crazy rich chocolate cake(my favorite thing), and a cheesecake brownie(which was too mushy for my taste — not enough distinction between the brownie part and cheesecake part). Prices are very reasonable and everything is fresh. Also, there is a 10% discount if you check-in on your Unilocal app! If you are staying in — or even just passing through — Ogunquit, give Bread and Roses a try!

Looking for a top of the line confection or coffee while in Ogunquit? Bread & Roses. I’ve been coming to Bread & Roses for years and I have never been disappointed once by the quality of the baked goods. Seriously delicious and delectable. Every. Single. Time. Especially the blueberry tea cake! Located right in the center of town near a grocery store and candy store the location can’t be beat either. Central to all the hotels and rentals. It’s also not priced astronomically like it could be for a small bakery in a tourist town. So more bonus points for that.

Simply, the best bakery ever! We stock up and bring items home. The coffee is great and the staff is so helpful. Of course, another reason I go here is because of the Bread and Roses history and the commitment of the owners to their workers.

It was a cold night so instead of ice cream we opted for baked goods. Even though it was almost 9PM this place was rockin’. It is full of delicious treats. We couldn’t settle on 1 treat so instead we decided on 3. The first a «Lacie» which is a chocolate mouse flourless cake. Awesome. The second a rocky road bar which had marshmallows and peanut butter clumps. Fantastic. The third, an «Oatie» was our favorite, a combination of oatmeal bar meets chocolate meets heaven. Pretty awesome little place. No indoor seating but there is outdoor seating when the weather permits.

Great locally-owned bakery on Main Street in the heart of Ogunquit. Sweets and baked goods galore, as well as several different loaves of fresh-baked bread available. They serve Carpe Diem coffee, out of North Berwick. They also have espresso, cappuccino, lattes, café mocha, and chai lattes, too. Lots of other options, including vegetarian ones, like a croissant, with vegetarian sausage and grilled veggie and black bean burritos. They also have espresso, cappuccino, lattes, café mocha and chai tea lattes. I ordered a treat that was a chocolate coffee cup(with a handle!), filled with a cappuccino-flavored whipped filling – this was so decadent, I can’t even describe it. Their fruit tarts are other-worldly. This is the real deal and the staff are so friendly.

Definitely 5 stars. I originally came in for an iced coffee the first time but I had to try one of the pastries. They all looked amazing. I got the magic bar which was baked fresh and just brought out. Perfect mix of coconut and chocolate. I brought stuff home for my family also. I brought home the Whoopie pie, more magic bars, the rocky road bar and a raspberry oatmeal bar. All were delicious. The cream in the Whoopie pie is perfect. Loved this bakery.

I respectfully disagree with anyone giving this bakery less than four stars. To say the people that work here are not friendly is misleading and simply false. Maybe you aren’t the friendly one… I came in two days in a row and was recognized on the second day and was treated extremely warmly. They made sure the goods I ordered were the freshest and even went to the back to take out a pie for me that just came out of the oven. Also, complaints about cost are unfair. Let me see you open a bakery in a tourist area and see how low your prices are? The prices here are very fair and coming from NYC where you get charged double the amount for half the size, these prices are very fair. Now to what we should all be here for, a review about the products. I have many favorites so I will list them out: 1. The Blueberry Pie: it just came out of the oven. The crust was perfect and it just smelt and tasted like a fresh homemade pie. The inside was purely fresh blueberries, whipped up into a great tasting inside. This was one of the best blueberry pies I have ever had. My family agrees because I drove it 5 hours just for them to taste it. 2. Cheesecake with Raspberry sauce: Fresh cheesecake, graham cracker bottom and a great tasting sauce. One of the best slices of cheesecake I have had and I have one of the bet cheesecake place in NYc around the corner from me. 3. The Whoopie Pie: or as I call it a devil dog on steroids. Just pure amazingness, from the cake to the buttercreamy inside. Nothing else to say, but try it for yourself. I also had the rocky road bar, which was very good!!! When I return to Ogunquit, I will make sure to come back here and enjoy myself!
