Christine and the staff did a wonderful job! I came in from out of town to meet my girlfriends parents and wanted to get a nice host gift and she knew exactly what to get them! She’s a pro!!! All of her choices were a big hit during my visit in Old Saybrook. Great store, great prices, great quality!

My absolute go to for hostess gifts and CHEESE… and pâté and crackers, jams, salts spices… Anything you could ever think of in the world of gourmet food … Both savory & sweet. Understatedly, the most helpful & knowledgeable, gracious & sweet staff… I’ve ever come across.

Really incredible selection of cheeses and other goodies. Perfect example of why the shoreline of CT is so great! I try to come here every couple of weeks and usually end up with something new, and almost always delicious.

Fantastic cheese shop! Huge selection of cheeses — and I was pleasantly surprised by their selection of vegetarian cheeses. The girl behind the counter who helped us was truly patient, friendly and extremely helpful — in fact everyone in the store was very friendly. I highly recommend this cheese shop — check out their awesome selection of honey as well!

Fromage has been the leading cheese shop on the CT Shoreline for years now… and for a great reason — Fromage has a knowledgeable staff, a huge selection or gourmet foods and cheeses and when in doubt THEYWILLLETYOUTASTE any cheese or pâté you are thinking of buying. I have been going here since I moved to CT in 2006, but yesterday by husband and I stopped by to get some gourmet goodies for a cozy Saturday night at home(with just enough for a few leftovers). We purchased some of the Greek olive assortment, some lovely aged Gouda, some triple crème, some foie gras, some venison pâté, some sopressata, some cornichons and some crackers — as they were out of bread we stopped and got a baguette on the way home. They were all absolutely yummy, and as we tasted most of it before we purchased it, we knew exactly what we were getting(no surprises). Visit Fromage and try few of their delicacies. I promised you won’t be disappointed.

Best cheese shop around for a number of reasons. The staff, the selection, the knowledge, all of that. Plus every town should be lucky enough to have a great little specialty foods shop like that where you can get things you can not get at Stop and Shop

I can’t say anything but WOW to this place. If you are a cheese addict or a gourmet cook, Fromage will tickle your fancy. I heard about this place from my mother, who works in Old Saybrook and has bought the WOW factored-packed mango cheese for special occasions. When I told a nice female employee about my favorite cheese, she was so nice to offer me a little sample. Since I was in a mood for a coffee, I ordered an iced coffee. For less than two dollars(I think), my drink had a nice bold, coffee presence and didn’t need a lot of sugar or cream. If I lived in OLS, this would be my go-to place to get coffee on the go! Man, I wished I lived in Old Saybrook.

An all around gourmet foods store not just a cheese place with the largest selection of imported specialty items in the area. Beautiful menu of cheeses and she also carries all the specialty meats such as Serrano ham, prosciutto and sausages. She also has a huge selection of hard to find ingredients which I have used for my cooking classes. An amazing store!

Another little gem on the shoreline! Holy cow(and goat)! This place is remarkable. I had no idea that they sold more than cheeses until we stopped by for the first time this weekend. My jaw dropped in awe over all the products they sold in addition to their variety of a hundred different cheeses, some local, some from nationally known creameries, and some international. Browsing through the store I was overwhelmed by all the products. Truly a gourmand’s dream. I walked around taking it all in: the section of pastas and sauces, the cured meats, foie gras, truffle butters, pates, the rows of mustards, oils, vinegars, salts, peppers, teas, cookies, too many things to name. The coolest salt and pepper holders caught my eye and struck my fancy. Neat looking bags, from lunch bags to grocery totes, were also hung around the store ready for a buyer. A set of espresso cups would have gone well with the new espresso machine I just got for Christmas. In the front of the store were lots of gift baskets, all marked down in price now that the holidays have drawn to a close. Prices didn’t seem to be too bad. As an example, the truffle butter here is a dollar more than other places I have seen it, while the same box of Maldon sea salt flakes I just bought at Sur La Table(Canton) costs a dollar less here. As the name of the store implies, they do sell coffee here too, at the back of the store, and some baked treats. On to the cheeses. There was such a huge variety it was hard to choose. They are all laid out in the middle of the store in rounds, wedges, blocks, and each cheese was labeled. The display as a whole is a cheese lovers paradise. I asked for a recommendation for a harder cheese for us to try since my guy isn’t fond of soft cheeses and the person who helped me gave an excellent recommendation of the Midnight Moon(a firm goat’s milk cheese aged at least for one year that had a lovely nutty and buttery flavor and a beautiful smooth and slightly grainy texture that aged cheese tend to have). She graciously and skillfully cut me a few slivers to sample before I purchased and I was sold! If I had more time I would have sampled and bought a few more cheeses. All of them looked great. I cannot wait to come back! Check out their cheese checklist!

I was introduced to Fromage by a fellow foodie who also happened to be my boss. I went thinking it would be a tiny little cheese shop but it turned out to be a destination. I try to get to Fromage 4 – 5 times a year. First the Cheese: If you have heard of it, tasted it or read about it, they have it. The staff is very knowledgeable about everything cheese and has made some awesome recommendations. You can try a cheese before you buy it to make sure you will enjoy it. I have a slight addiction to Truffle Cheese and Fromage has several that are just amazing. However, before you get to the cheese you have to go through the shop. Anything you can think of foodwise you will find here. Need something special for those cupcakes? They have them. Looking for a jam for that brunch? Yep, they have that too. I once spent an hour going through mustards trying to decide on the perfect one for the St. Patrick’s Day corned beef. I have bought things I never knew I needed: Black Truffle Balsamic? Oh yeah, it’s as pefect as it sounds. They also sell some ready make things to get your dinner parties off to a great start. This place is a gem and truly one of the best kept secrets in Old Saybrook.

Unbelievable selection of cheeses, meats and other specialty foods. Personal favorite is the cambazola blue. Ordered a basket from the west coast for father’s day and the owner was so thoughtful in helping me put it together.

I love Fromage! This place and the food. Christine is extremely helpful, always friendly and has the absolute best selection in all of Southeastern CT. My husband and son are addicted to the cornichons she carries and if I go there without bringing some back, I probably would be banished from home. Fromage has a great selection of pates, teas, crackers, and many more gourmet food items. If you need a specialty item this is the place to look. But the star of the show for me is the cheese and I can’t say I have ever brought one home that I didn’t like. The staff’s suggestions are always spot on.
