Friendly service and family owned restaurant. Comfort Italian food with healthy portions that ensure a good bang for your buck. Plentiful menu and the staff is happy to prepare anything you would like. Drinks are good and very affordable. Can’t beat it for a good family dinner or take out!

I remember now why we have not come back in over a decade. No appetizer plates. Spongy, thick and greasy calamari, tomato sauce that is sickly sweet and nowhere near the Italian sauce I grew up with, a sticky table and to boot, a double shot of wet service dog smell to round out the dank. While I understand service dogs are and should be allowed, there should be rules for dogs with heavy smells and behaviors that are a disturbance to other patrons. We left without even ordering dinner. Highly disappointed.

Dropped in on a Saturday around 7 pm and had less than a 10 minute wait. Seats around the corner to sit on. Family owned place. It may be time to freshen the colors inside and lighten the place up. My husband thought the dark colors added to the ambience. Attentive staff and a quality Cosmo! We tried the fried ravioli! I have never had them a might rather have fried pickles. Solid menu and supplemented by a specials menu. Tried the Pasta Fasule. I thought it average. Veal Marsala dinner and a lasagne. Both were average. Nothing wrong with average. Served hot as was the bread! Large portion with salad or soup option. Had no room for dessert. Waitress was very cordial. Took home doggie bags!

We went there many times with our kids over 40 years ago! They loved the meatball grinders. Last night after reading a story about the family and the restaurant we decided it was time to go back. We sat at the bar and ordered apps, my wife calamari and me mussels marinara. She said it was the best calamari she had ever had, fresh rings and tentacles, perfectly cooked with a just right marinara sauce. My mussels marinara,(a huge pile) were equally as good, sweet and tender bathed in a spicy sauce. Bartender was delightful and attentive. This would have been a 5 star review if we had a full diner. Stay tuned as we will have dinner there soon!

Decent food, family friendly. Decent ambience. However the wait for the food seemed terribly long. The waitress also forgot about our appetizer that we decided to skip since we’d already waited long enough.

Piccata sauce a bit«soupy» and the pizza was not thin crust NH style, with frozen strips of eggplant. Having gotten these relatively minor complaints out of the way we found Luigi’s to be an excellent local dining spot for couples as well as for families. Large, diverse menu and also the atmosphere and service were top-notch! Very professionally run restaurant which is all too rare.

Love this place! The pasta is the best I have ever had. No exaggeration — 100% the best I have ever had. The menu is large, but everything is great. Even though I am not local, everytime I drive through I stop in to get a meal and something to go.

We go to this place all of the time. It is a family owned joint that is run by generations of the same family. Most Italian eateries with a menu this size tend to struggle with consistency… not Luigi’s. Everything is very good, and they’ve got a killer prime rib. I have never had a bad experience with food, drink, or service.

Luigi’s is one of those oldies but goodies that has made it through the past into the present while preserving it’s wonderful Old World Italian ethnic charm. They serve a very good pizza; their Italian entrees are authentic, well prepared and executed nicely. House wines by the ½ or full carafe are $ 12 and $ 20 respectively, bottle wines average about $ 26, either way it is reasonable with a more than adequate selection. One of the dishes I love is their Hot Antipasto, they make their own dressing in house which is also available for sale at the restaurant. I wouldn’t think of going to Luigi’s without ordering the antipasto, I believe it to be one of the very best out there and it’s large enough for 3 possibly 4 people! Sunday is always pasta day for me so in keeping with that I ordered the baked stuff shrimp with a side of pasta and marinara sauce. The shrimp are U-12 Jumbo’s perfectly cooked with wonderful flavor, drawn butter and a stuffing that is just fabulous, not overstated but the perfect complement to the shrimp. They were very busy Sunday with a sizeable party in an adjoining room, but wait staff did not miss a beat. I like this place a lot and when it’s lunch or dinner time and I am in the area, I’m at Luigi’s it’s just that simple.

There’s a very simple reason why the parking lot is always at it’s capacity. Luigi’s is a great place. This place is family run, and it shows. We go here mainly for their specialty pizzas. Clams casino one of the best around. Service always friendly and very efficient. Very reasonably priced meals, pizza and drinks. This is an Old Saybrook original. Really enjoy walking in and seeing the same familiar faces.

Luigi’s is 2 minutes from our house — but I’ve only been a handful of times. The first time we went I wasn’t impressed; but the other day we decided to give it another try being that it’s so close to our house. This time we were pleasantly surprised. The food was much better than out first visit. The first time we went to Luigi’s I had a special with clams and capers it was far too salty and the sauce was greasy. The pasta e fagioli was just ok. And Lindsey thought her dish was bland. The bread they serve and the service itself were good, however. The second time we returned we were really pleased Lindsay’s pizza was very good and fresh. I got the clams marinara appetizer it was fabulous and had about 12 littlenecks in it. We tried one of the wines the waitress recommended and it was delicious. The service was great and the atmosphere is so comfortable. We will definitely be going back to Luigi’s again!

Such a nice experience. Lenny makes the sauce a so nice. He makes it with a little garlic and a lot of love and stirs regularly. The meatballs are like biting Into pure meatball bliss. And the pizza is out of this world!

I have NEVER understood the hype about this place. It can be summed up in one word: AWFUL! It is absolutely one of the two worst«Italian» restaurants I have ever been to. The food is just plain gross. It’s over-priced. The service sucks. There is no reason to go here whatsoever. I will never understand why anybody goes to this place…

I have yet to find a better version of the simplest, yet greatest(in my humble opinion) Italian American dish– Chicken Parmigiana! Luigi’s nails it every time! Other dishes that I have tried there are equally satisfying– but I’m usually just craving that delicious CP.

Love, love love! Everyone has their own pizza they consider the best and for Luigi’s is my FAVORITE! I’ve had some of the other things on the menu but for me, I’m all about the pizza.

Love the food here. From the minestrone soup to the chicken Parmesan. Hubby got the Veal Piccata. He said it was awesome! The bread is served hot! Love it!

I have only seen my mother enjoy a meal at a restaurant one time in my entire life, and that was here at Luigis. Luigis atmosphere exudes warmth, fun, and everyone makes you feel like you’re a local. Not in a «northern exposure» or «orange is the new black» kind of way, more like a «Cheers» kind of way. The owners are legitimately nice people who sincerely enjoy serving you delicious Italian food, where the quality never changes and the bread is always HOT.(Seriously, this bread is what caused Kirstie Alley to put the weight back on, the third time if I recall) I highly recommend giving this place a shot, whether you’re looking for a casual pizza with the kids, or a nice bottle of wine and some excellently prepared Veal with your significant other. Or maybe even your mom, who once referred to Lobster Newburgh at Bookbinders in Philadelphia as «Lobster Loser».

Since we were on the shoreline, hubs wanted to take me out to dinner(awwww, he’s sho shweeet!). He wanted to take me to the Monkey Farm Café, but since we found that they only take cash(no cash on us, only credit cards), he took me to his next favorite place, Luigi’s. When we arrived the parking lot was a bit crowded, but there were a few spaces still left for us to park our car. When we went in, the wait was only about five minutes; there was only one other couple ahead of us. We got a table that was big enough for the both of us and we were served water and bread promptly. Our server was very nice, she even left a pitcher of water for us at our request(we tend to drink a lot of water during dinner). I ordered the broiled sea scallops with fries, he the stuffed shells with meatballs. We received soup or salad with our dinners and ordered fried mozzarella to share. The fried mozzarella was delicious, it was baked in a casserole dish with marinara sauce. For the prices of each dinner dish I expected well-rounded, dinner portions, not lunch portions. The sea scallops were small, almost the size of bay scallops. The fries came in a small, kid sized bowl. Hubs got only one large meatball with his three stuffed shells, baked in a small casserole dish. Despite the portion sizes, the food was very good. You’ll get a better bang for your buck elsewhere. The service, food and atmosphere was great, but we just wished the portions matched the price we paid for dinner.
