I was so excited that they were coming to Olney… I know it is new and they are working out the kinks but for now I will continue to go to Travilah Gateway. The food was disappointing. The fried cheese was too lemony, the meatballs which are usually fabulous, were more like mini grilled hamburgers. The brussel sprouts were fabulous as usual! In a few months I will go back and try again…

We had reservations and we needed to push them back a half hour. It was no problem, the hostesses were great. We were seated and then waited 10 minutes(too long) before we were greeted by our server. We were brought bread while we waited. Our service was terrible. Our server would service tables around us and never check to see if we needed anything. We never got our initial dip appetizer. Half way through our meal I cancelled the appetizer because our server had never checked or noticed whether it came (after I had double checked on it being ordered). We were 3 ladies who ordered a good amount of food, several rounds of wine– we had a pretty large check. Awful service… disappointed.

While a little noisy and close proximity of seating, the food and service were great! Good way to have a bday celebration for the hubby.

Went today for lunch. I am so excited there is a Cava closer to my home! I got the«Mezze Mania» lunch which is where you choose 1 dip/starter, 1 veggie mezze and 1 meat mezze for $ 15. I got the crazy feta dip, roasted carrots and lollipop chicken. I assumed that since they were only $ 5 each, I would get half of the regular-sized portion, but not true! They were the regular size portions. What a great deal! And, all of the food was very tasty. I would always get the lollipop chicken at the Rockville Cava, and it tastes just as yummy at the Olney location. Also, I like the more bright and open area at the Olney location as compared to the Rockville(Traville) location. Also, I like how they give you your own large container of water per table. And, half price bottles of wine on Tuesdays!

Real time Brunch review: At this point, I’ve been waiting for almost one hour and a half for a table for 3. We were initially told 45 minutes… the same wait as was given to a party of 7. With very little attempt to accommodate us. At the moment, the manager is talking to one of the girls in our party and asking if we want to order mimosas at the bar… and if we aren’t seated soon, we can order food at the bar… but they are out of chairs so two of us are standing at the bar. No, I do not want to stand and eat at the bar. Update: Finally got seated, after the hostess graciously cleared a table and signaled to us from across the restaurant that it was ready. Cmon. You couldn’t even be bothered to actually seat us??? I hate to point out these negatives, when after this everything went very well. Our waiter was great, and the food was great. But after initial service like, it kind of killed the mood.

Would have enjoyed this more if our party wasn’t kicked out after two hours. Claimed we had a contract when we made the reservations. Food was good, service needs to improve.

Came for a late lunch on a Wednesday. Service was friendly, albeit a little rushed, all of the small plates came out at once. We had the dip sampler for $ 10.50 for the table, and I had the pick 3 priced at $ 15. I selected the beet salad, Brussel sprouts, and lollipop chicken. Generous amount of food for the price point, I highly recommend the Brussel sprouts(cooked to perfection!) but would skip out on the beet salad next time(mostly greens, meh). Servers recommendation of the lollipop chicken was on point. The food overall would merit Cava 5 stars in my opinion, but the service in front of house just didn’t match it. Our server and the others that brought food out to the table were overall friendly, knowledgable, and not overbearing. That being said… when our dip came out, the manager(?) brought over a single portion of crazy feta originally,(which we hadn’t ordered) we let him know and asked him about our dip sampler and he scurried off across the dining room… removed our dip sampler that had been sitting for who knows how long at another diners table… And presented it to our table!!! Ick! Should’ve brought a new one. Overall, my experience there was a good one, and I’m glad to have them bring a little variety to Olney.

Great atmosphere, attentive and friendly service. expect to length wait for a table. Nice bar set up. In general, the food is solidly good with some true great dishes in the mix too. By comparison, the Rockville Cava Mezze restaurant does the village salad slightly different by including yellow peppers – something Olney should include too. Sauce and flavorings at the Rockville location are slightly more spot on for some other dishes too. Perhaps as Olney gets it’s feet planted, they will perfect to equal the Rockville location’s offered taste experience. Really enjoyed the tasty flat iron steak, warm pita and hummus, spanikopita, zucchini fritters, and grilled shrimp. Lollipop chicken was well received by all. Chicken souvlaki wasn’t very flavorful. Meatballs we very good. Crab cakes could are lumpy but could use a little splash of more flavor. All in all a very good to excellent restaurant. Glad to see it in Olney. A definite must try! Very helpful allergy menu information available too. Nice that they are on top of this concern for many diners. BIGPLUS. Wish they would return white bean ragu to the menu

So, I was very excited to see they were coming to Olney. We had reservations for 3 people at 11 am on Saturday, right when they opened. The wait staff was very attentive, which was great. Small plates come out when they are ready, which the staff should tell folks is the case, especially when folks make a point of saying it’s their first time there. We did not go for the brunch option($ 30/head, all you can eat), since that seems like a lot of money when you’re not planning on pigging out. One of our party got the nutella waffle with the fixings on the side, and they forgot the walnuts. We didn’t realize it until she had finished, and a neighboring table got the dish, and we could see the walnuts on top. I got the gyro hash, which didn’t seem complete to me. I checked what I had against the menu and it was missing mushrooms, tomatoes and yogurt sauce. I mentioned this to the waitress, and at first she was dismissive(«oh, that’s your sauce there» — «no, dear, that’s the egg»). She then said she’d talk to the chef, but never gave us any response. On the good side, the falafel balls are scrumptious, the ancient grain salad is quite excellent, and both the french toast and the waffle are quite good. The mini gyros were also delicious, the meat was nicely grilled with a touch of char, and the seasoning was terrific. However, given the prices, this would have to be a special occasion place for us. Our party ended up at about $ 22/person(no desserts).

Went there as a party of 4 at 12:15 today. A) One person ordered a particular item, and they were told there were out of it(shouldn’t you be told up front when the server is up selling the ‘fabulous brunch’?) B) 3 of the 4 people got their lunch and we were ¾ths done when the waitress came by asking how everything was and we let her know that the 4th person was still waiting for their order — it came out in about 45 seconds after that. C) I went to the bathroom around 1:30 and both rolls of toilet paper were empty. When I asked for a refill, I received an apology and a comment that stated that they had just run out.(Didn’t anyone check the bathroom in the morning before the restaurant opened? HELLO…) D) 3 of the 4 people had their plates removed after they were done. I had the burrito, and even though I left a fair amount of tortilla on the plate, my fork and knife were displayed on the plate in such a way that should have indicated that I was finished. E) Our server still did not ask if I was finished with my lunch. I even put my used napkin on top of my plate and she still did not ask if I was finished OR remove the plate. We got the check — then the check was paid — we sat for a few minutes, and got up to leave. Guess what? My plate was STILL in front of me with the used napkin on top. PS… the Dip Tasting appetizer was the bomb but the overall experience overshadowed it. I hear the Traville Gateway restaurant is great — I may have to try it, because I highly doubt I will EVER come back to this location.

New Year’s Eve at Cava in Olney. Great attentive service. Had the grilled octopus and my husband had the chicken with orzo. Both were very good. So why not 5 stars? Thought the prices were a bit steep. We ordered an appetizer dip and the roasted cauliflower both to share. No alcohol and no dessert and our bill was almost $ 60. I would go back again and maybe eliminate the veggie and the appetizer. Really want this place to succeed… Will try again!

Don’t get this confused with the«Chipotle-style» Cava. This is a sit down/order to go Mediterranean food. It was pretty good! Parking wasn’t too bad, food was delicious, and prices weren’t bad. I would go for brunch when I go back again.

This place is great. I thought there would possibly be issues, as they had just opened, but I was very pleasantly surprised. The food was great, I liked every dish of the 9 or so we tried, and the service was fast, and exceedingly polite. The only thing I did not love was the wine I picked, but I’ll just pick a different wine next time. We will absolutely be back.

Came at 5 on a Saturday and were seated right away. The lollipop chicken was amazing and we will definitely order it again. The pork belly and pitas weren’t my favorite but still very good. Great cocktail menu. Definitely will be coming back.

Thank god they opened in Olney, aka food desert of Montgomery county. Menu is delightful mix of small plates. Service is fine and lively bar.
