I stumbled into this place because it’s near the closest grocery store to my house and I was feeling some teriyaki. The quality is pretty dang good and the service speed is excellent, but let me tell you about the portion sizes. They’re ridiculous. Every entrée on the menu comes with so much food that unless you’re a ravenous caveman you could probably eat half of it, be full, save half for later, eat that and then be full again. So for like 8 bucks or something it’s really a bang for your buck. I go here pretty often. Oh and it’s literally right next to a pot store, just saying.

Real good teriyaki. Big portions. Nice service. I just wish they had a brown rice option!

Best teriyaki joint I’ve found in Washington. The food is so good, it’s addictive! Usually we get the short ribs, pork teriyaki, and the spicy chicken. I’ve also tried the chicken teriyaki, fried rice, gyoza, and they’re all great! I love that the rice is sticky rice, and that the meat is cooked perfectly. The portions are huge, so you get to have leftovers the next day! Bonus! The people who own the restaurant are incredibly nice. It’s always clean and cheery inside. I can’t say enough! Give it a try if you’re in the mood for teriyaki!

Tried a new place for lunch based on Unilocal reviews. Not again. I placed an order to go. Chicken yakisoba. Almost $ 10 but huge portion. The drive back to work did not give me good feelings about my decision to try this place. The aroma seemed off. I figured out it was the grilling of the chicken but the rest tasted very bland and I was worried about finding something in my food. 4 bites later I tossed it. Water for lunch was a better choice.

As a fairly recent transplant to the Olympia area, I started losing hope of finding an Asian food place that didn’t serve flavorless undercooked food, and though I’d seen this place when visiting other stores in the area, I didn’t try it until I read the glowing Unilocal reviews. I had a wonderful chicken yakisoba lunch that was so huge I brought half of it home for dinner, and the chicken was actually grilled and tasty. The veggies were crisply stir-fried, yet not oily or greasy. I’ll definitely be back! A lot! /burp

Not a bad spot at all. Food was solid and priced reasonably. The food came out quickly and included salad and soup. I had the Chicken and Pork lunch plate and it was huge. If I had a complaint, it would be in how generic the menu was. Maybe because Unilocal lists it as Asian Fusion I was expecting more but this place is pretty much *Pick a meat, pick a sauce, two scoops rice, thank you*

A quick lunch stop. There were no «weird bits» in the chicken as I’ve experienced with some teriyaki. The portions were huge, enough for two meals(even when I got takeout). Ambience isn’t for date night, but I prefer supporting local restaurants as opposed to a corporate chain.

This place is by far the best teriyaki place in Tumwater/Olympia. We get the chicken bento box to go and it easily feeds my husband, 2 boys(4⁄2) and myself. Sometimes we even have left overs. I can’t say enough good things about the short ribs either, so good very little fat and as with everything the portion is huge

Excellent food huge portions. Great service friendly staff. That about covers it. I’d give it 5 stars if they serve beer or wine.

We stopped for dinner here on a road trip, based on Unilocal reviews. When the woman in the front told us they have no chicken breast, and only white rice, we left.

Overall as expected portions were amazing for 2 people pay as much as a buffet but be able to take the leftovers without extra charge

I don’t usually post negative reviews but the 4+ average rating for this restaurant seems way out of line. I’m giving an extra star because I like the operation, a mom & pop business with a guy in the kitchen who cooks up the food fresh for your order. This business would make a excellent food truck, come to think of it. Of course, the fact that there’s only one guy in the kitchen makes for a bit of a long wait at lunch time. I ordered stir-fried vegetables with tofu. The vegetables consisted of lots of green cabbage cut in large squares with a few token broccoli pieces. The tofu was coated in sesame seeds and fried in oil. Everything immersed in a heavy sweet brown sauce(OK, it has teriyaki in the name of the restaurant, so what do you expect?) Loads of MSG. Large portions. I would go in here in a pinch, but I wouldn’t go out of my way.

Now that I have had the yakisonba from this place, I will probably never go to Happy Teriyaki again. I loved it. Portions are huge and flavor is amazing.

Absolutely the best teriyaki in Thurston County. Amazing food, huge portions, and the hardest working husband and wife team imaginable. And on a sunny day you will see Mt. Rainier poking out.

Ive ordered several teriyaki meat plates and combos. All come with the classic grilled meat but then the meat is stir fried and mixed with veggies like bean sprouts, onions, broccoli, etc… now by no means am i complaining. It was just a surprise, but a very great surprise. Not sure if its for all but some are like that. 5 stars for amazing flavor and nice people. Did i mention complementary miso? Comes while you wait. Then the. Salad comes next right before the food.

Oh the happy shrimp! Orange chicken has been disappointing lately. People are super nice. Happy shrimp is a must as is the spicy chicken.

Just came into town and needed to get food for all of us. The hotel initially recommended another teriyaki place but I found this really close to Walmart where I had to get food for our tournament so I decided to stop in after reading the Unilocal reviews. I am glad I did stop because everything was excellent. We ordered chicken teriyaki, shortribs, gyoza plate and fries rice. They all were excellent and the service was great too! I absolutely recommend this restaurant and one of the families that just came in I directed them over there too.
