Greeted at the door by hosts, and moved on to the sushi bar. 1st time anywhere in the world we weren’t greeted by anyone behind the sushi bar, and honestly ignored. Almost 5 mins to get noticed by a server to get menus, etc. Fish is average, and really nothing here excited me. This seems like the place to take people who like anything in their rolls that will cover up the assumed flavor of the fish. The upstairs has a nice seating area, and almost a party room type atmosphere. I have scolded those who referred this place, as I could just have easily gone to the nearest Hy-Vee for the same experience.

I’ve been a fan of Blue since the day it opened in west Omaha! I’ve never had a meal or sushi roll I didn’t love. I moved out of state and whenever I come back to visit it is the first restaurant I go to. I would recommend going during happy hour since the rolls are much cheaper.

This restaurant single-handedly turned me into a sushi lover! Seriously, I used to hate sushi and on my first time coming here thought I would only like the lettuce wraps but tried one of my friends rolls and have been coming regularly ever since. Delicious and extremely fresh sushi. Always great service. Tasty cocktails. All day happy hour on Sunday’s. What’s not to love?

Took 10 mins for my server to greet me, sushi was good, but as I finished I watched a mini looking cock roach run down the bar, and then a second crawl out of the napkin by me… I told my server(Kyle?) and she even saw one, said«Ew» and walked away to tell manager. Nobody came to say sorry or anything after. Disgusted by the place now.

By far the best food and service that we have had in Omaha. Many locals mentioned this place and we are so glad we tried it out. The happy hour deals are great. We enjoyed crab ragoon, calamari, gyoza, shrimp tempora and blue balls. All were fabulous. Our server Maria did a fabulous job and brought us beef tenderloins on the house. Melt in your mouth delicious! Very pleased with food and generosity of this resturant. Its a must try!

I am not a big sushi eater but went with 3 other people of which 2 are. We had plenty to eat, had a large variety of plates. We were there over happy hour so drinks and some dishes were on special. Our tab came to about $ 140. Food was interesting. Can never tell what I’m eating based on name of dishes but always interesting. Didn’t get sick which is always a plus. Upstairs floors are undergoing renovation so they were closed. I understand they are interesting as well. May return out of curiosity. Though not my type of food I am always open to something new. Service was excellent. So rating is based on overall impression.

Living in Florida, sushi is a daily staple for many of us that live a stone’s throw away from the beach(why did I move to Omaha again?). I’ve had sushi at a couple other restaurants in Omaha, and this has been the only place that didn’t make me want to vomit. The sushi appears fresh, their selection is adequate, and the staff is warm and professional. The upstairs lounge is definitely where you want to be. I find the first floor sushi bar to take the name«Blue» too far with the tacky blue lighting that reminds me of a warehouse party I went to in college(PSA: Warehouse parties are something you should experience once and only once in your life). Don’t sit on the couches if you don’t want to get pregnant. The first time I was here I saw this tragic looking couple making out /dry humping on them. I can only imagine what they look like under a black light. I recommend sitting next to the windows with the small chairs meant for parties of two. I doubt people could easily maneuver getting all sexual without having some serious kama sutra experience. But you never know, I could be wrong. 4 stars for half decent sushi. 4 stars for staff that routinely checks in on your experience. 4 stars for couches that might knock you up.

One of my favorite sushi spots ever! They have an amazing selection of vegetarian rolls, and the lettuce wraps are fantastic. The all-day Sunday happy hour makes for a great deal!

When my friends and I went to Omaha, everyone kept saying we had to get Blue Sushi. And I’m glad they did. It was amazing. We weren’t staying in town, so we all got super loaded on a ton of sushi. The vegan/vegetarian options were excellent. And were delicious. I can’t wait until we go back to Omaha.

I came for lunch on my way to the airport. The service was wonderful. Every interaction I had was so pleasant from the host to my server to the sushi chefs! I ordered the coconut crab soup and was so impressed! It was delicious, and I was so excited to find a non-dairy creamy soup. I ordered two sushi rolls that the server recommended and both were delicious. When I asked for her recommendations, she was able to point out a few things with confidence and demonstrated she knew what she was talking about. Overall I give the food and service all 5 stars!!!

Blue is always a good place to grab some sushi in the Old Market. I especially like their happy hour options and prices. I really want to give this four stars but when I went a few days ago, we went upstairs for some reverse happy hour and some drinks. The hostess at the top of the stairs without a smile said, «How can I help you?» — I don’t mean to be a jerk but I wasn’t there selling Tupperware! :) We were there for what everyone else was: Drinks and/or some grub! I remember that spot being a DJ area, so it didn’t click right away and I just told her we were there to grab some happy hour drinks. She informed us the tables were all full and that it was bar only which was fine. The bartender was great and accommodating, nice to talk to. Cleanliness usually meets my standards but for some reason that night, it smelled so weird up there. Like moldy soy sauce or something. My husband said it smelled like the bathroom which is never good. Hopefully it was just that night for us. I haven’t been wow-ed the past few times I’ve been there, yet I keep going, WHY? It’s a nice layout and an easy place to meet friends. The food is usually yummy and happy hour is worth it. If I go again after a reasonable amount of time and it still smells like moldy bathroom soy sauce we are going to have problems!

This is a really convenient location for a weekend dinner as its right downtown in old market. I love that they serve food late as it makes having dinner and then going out for drinks super easy. We dined on a Saturday night at about 10:30 and were seated quickly at the bar at the upstairs Sake Bomber lounge. There was a DJ playing that night so it gave a great Saturday evening feel. Bar tenders took great care of us. Kept our drinks filled and food came out quickly. The food was of the same quality I’ve come to know and love in their Lincoln location. I always get the avocado and Philadelphia rolls and edamame. They have gf soy sauce and a gluten free menu to choose from. Overall, great food, fun atmosphere, good service. I’ll be back!

My girlfriend and I are frequent customers of Blue and it seems that we may never work through the entire menu because we have several go to favorites now. The appetizers are absolutely fabulous, especially the Seaweed Salad and the Mango Crab Rangoon. The food itself goes without saying that it is amazing. We discovered too that they cater to those who are not of age to drink and are more than happy to whip up a «mocktail» so that you can get the feeling of being able to enjoy a drink with friends even without imbibing any alcohol. We go frequently but just recently on August 30, 2015 we even found our favorite waitress. Her name was Katelyn and we could really tell that she enjoyed her job because she gave us absolutely phenomenal service and struck the perfect balance of being attentive enough to see that our needs were properly met without making us feel cramped or hovered over. She always had a smile on her face and when we asked for a box she even decorated the lid of it for us with a picture of two fish kissing and the date and restaurant. We both thought that was a really neat touch that made us feel absolutely welcome. We will definitely be returning and requesting her as our server. Blue is most definitely going to continue to be our favorite sushi stop, especially considering that it is much cheaper than most of the other sushi places around town and the atmosphere is generally more upbeat and friendly.

I came to Omaha on vacation with my boyfriend and two close friends and none of us had ever had sushi before so we decided to go for it. After searching through the many sushi restaurants in Omaha, I came across Blue based on reviews and location. Old Market has a special place in my heart so it was here that I convinced everyone to try our first sushi together. We walked into a very blue, glowy restaurant with sushi chefs visible behind the bar rolling sushi for the guests. Very clean and cool atmosphere. The place was very busy and quite loud inside so we opted to be seated outside since it was so nice out. We all ordered drinks and I checked in on Unilocal to get a free order of some yummy edamame so the start of our night was very good! After that, we were brought a drink menu, sushi menus, and a small order sheet to mark what we wanted. Three of us ordered the coconut mojito and one ordered the bluetini. Both drinks were very refreshing and we all enjoyed them. After that, the hard part began. We opened the sushi menu. As the one with the most food experience, I guided everyone through the few sushi terms I actually did know: Sashimi, Nigiri, and Maki. After that, it was pretty much just pretending we knew what we were doing haha. The only thing I for sure wanted to try was eel as my cousin had been trying to get me to try it since forever. The waitress we had was really cool and she was extremely helpful in deciding. She laughed understandably when we finally let her know that none of us really knew what we were doing and she pointed out the most popular sushi for some direction. After that, both pairs of us chose 4 sushi items, 8 altogether, and awaited our fishy feast. The four that my boyfriend and I ordered were: Hawaiian Roll: tempura fried, salmon, crab, mango, mirin mango purée Spanish Fly: yellowtail, spicy crab, tuna, shallot, cilantro, serrano, yuzu ponzu(Basically Chipotle sushi!) Rainbow Roll: tuna, salmon, shrimp, white fish, crab, avocado, cucumber Unagi Maki: freshwater eel maki with eel sauce Everyone’s first bite was DELICIOUS. I never thought I would love, let alone LIKE, sushi quite this much. If I could eat it at least once a day, I probably would! Even my friends, not as adventurous in the food department, loved it and not a single piece was left behind on the plate. The sushi was served with some small bowls with soy, some fresh sesame rice, wasabi, and fresh ginger. My boyfriend loved the spanish fly sushi the most and I really enjoyed the simple and sweet of the unagi maki. As we chowed down on the chum, an employee came out to light the tiki torches since it was getting dark and I think that really added to the wonderful ambiance. Great food, lovely Old Market atmosphere, great people, and great flavors/smells/drinks. It was definitely one of my top ten meals! Obviously I have only had sushi one time so it might not have been the best sushi ever. I believe though, for a first time sushi experience, that it couldn’t have been better for any of us! Next time I am in the area I will definitely be making a stop here! Thanks for the amazing service and food, Blue!

I’m a sushi snob. I readily admit it. I have to run every sushi review I make through that filter because I pooh-pooh pretty much all americanized rolls. Whenever I see somewhere that focuses in on rolls Rolls ROLLS I start to cringe a bit… but to be completely fair I knew that’s what this place was about going in, so despite my hesitation I did enjoy what I had. They do have a rather extensive selection of sake. Though on the day I went they were out of a couple of the drier cold sakes. I’m not completely surprised given that those probably don’t get as much use as the sweeter and lower cost ones. I’m almost always a huge fan of any preparation of shishito peppers. These were larger in size than what I’ve usually encountered, and despite being overly oily they were still delicious. I ordered several pieces of sashimi and nigiri. The were out of the big eye tuna and uni, but it was Monday. The albacore was good, and the shime saba was very good. I also tried the«black tuna» which is marinated escolar(often called«white tuna»). It was interesting. Very rich soy flavor without being too salty. I’s only available as sashimi, and given how inexpensive escolar is the price seems high, but it was worth trying. The prices across the board for nigiri and sashimi seem a fair bit high… a few are right on point. The ambiance/décor is definitely very club like with neon lights and videos of surf competitions being played on the wall behind the bar. I suppose this would be a fun place to go for drinks and a snack before going out to a club or the bars. Unfortunately the focus does seem a bit more on sake bombs and crunchy rolls in a trendy environment. If the atmosphere is your thing, go for it… otherwise I’m sure there are better sushi restaurants around.

I love their happy hours — but apparently so does everybody else as it is always busy during HH! Very consistent in quality and service, and everything is similar to their Denver branch. Impressive for a sushi chain! Pros: –Fresh seafood, nice variety on menu –Awesome HH specials! –Nice selection of alcoholic drinks, including sake –Friendly service –Nice indoor ambiance –Fair pricing for quality of food served Cons: –Good luck with parking in downtown Omaha!

Another great dinner. Had the black tuna(escolar/walu) this time, awesome. I think I remember Alex saying it was the walu dyed w/squid ink?! New server, Chloe, was really sweet. Vegetarian friend had plenty of options.
