I ordered the chicken salad sandwich and a cup of braised bacon soup with cabbage… the sandwich was good, but I really loved the soup and regretted not getting a bowl… the cook and register guy were very friendly and while the price was a tad high, it was still a fairly reasonable price for a good meal… I’d come back…

I ate here this afternoon for lunch with a family member and I have to say the food is horrible. They also have gross coffee… how do you screw up coffee?! It was way watered down, and gross tasting. Also their chocolate cake is very weird tasting and almost like something you’d get in a hospital. As I told my husband, the food in a hospital probably tastes better. The ONLY reason it gets 2 stars is the staff are very sweet. I felt too bad complaining, so I just tossed my lunch. I wouldn’t be back though. Also, it does get very loud in the seating area, especially right now with the construction going on.

I’d say this is a 3.5 maybe. This place has a simple menu. Soups, salads, sandwiches, etc. I went with a few colleagues during a weekday lunch. I had a sandwich(turkey), my colleagues had a chicken salad, three soups(some cold green one, a corn chowder and a corn poblano one) and a chicken wrap. All of us liked our food and would rate it an A. The folks behind the counter were chatty and personable, so that was nice. The tables were okay, could have been a little cleaner. During lunch I never saw anyone bus them. You kind of have to just clean up after yourself. I did find that the area got noisy – there were dudes on the roof working with loud tools. This is why I give it a 3.5 – for the crumbs and stuff on the table and the loudness of the workers. I would go again, however, the setting was really nice.

We love the soups at Café Durham so much we sometimes stop in just to eat even if we aren’t staying to peruse the museum! We’ve not tried the sandwiches but the soups and daily special entrees are FANTASTIC! You can taste the fresh ingredients and everything tastes homemade(in the best of ways). Reasonable prices and great flavors make this an awesome stop for lunch. Yum!

Café Durham is inside the Joslyn art museum & even though the café itself is akin to a very small cafeteria, Jon the light fare chef will do his utmost to see that you will have a enjoyable repast in this artful setting. Whether you are starting off prior to the walk, or finishing up after the Remington paintings or Chihuly works, a nice bed of sustenance is what you will find at Café Durham.
