Great, wonderful, amazing place! Great drinks, snacks, spectacular staff that is friendly and warm and ready to help you with whatever you need. I have spent hours upon hours and Spielbound and loved every moment. I learned so many fun new games, met some cool people, I can’t recommend it enough!

Came here with some friends last week… It’s obviously a popular spot cause at no point in the evening was it dead, people coming and going and it does seem like a pretty decent place to take a date… didn’t play any of the games, but it’s clear they have a wide variety to choose from… My concern is that it took an unusually long time to get the hot chocolate that I ordered… Yes it was steady/busy, but after a certain amount of time, you’d kind of like to drink what you ordered… That being said, I very much look forward to coming back…

Everytime we go, we love it! I will say it is not known for their food, the coffee and tea are okay. but it is the experience. We will spent hours here with groups of friends playing board games. The staff is awesome at teaching our group, and we always leave laughing and planning when we will return. Atmosphere can be both quiet, and loud… so depending on how you study or work, it may not be the best place for you to sit and expect quiet.

Such a great concept — for a small fee(paid per person) you and your friends can stay and play whatever games you’d like for as long as you want. There are light snacks, tea, coffee, wine and beer, but the focus is on the games. There are classics like Monopoly and Stratego but there are many many more(new and old) you’ve probably never heard of. A great date night or booze-free alternative when you’re trying to come up with something new to do.

Spielbound is so fun and a great place to go for a realizing night out with friends! Tonight we went in with friends and there weren’t any open tables so we were told we could our names on a waiting list. We provided our information and were told they’d call as soon as a table was available, however, after an hour and a half of walking around Midtown Crossing while we waited for a call, we decided to go back and have our names taken off the list because they were so busy. When we went back to tell staff, there were open tables and new customers sitting down. Unfortunately, we had never received a call — indicating they likely forgot about us. We’ll definitely come back, but if Spielbound says they’ll offer a wait list, they really should honor it.

Absolutely the best option for having a great time with friends. The concept is just perfect, board games, alcohol and coffee. If you are here on a slow day, you can probably get an employee to teach you a new board game or jump in with a group looking for more. You can plan ahead as certain nights will be led by an employee teaching a game. This place gets packed very early on Friday and Saturday night. If you like a game, they have a small selection of new games for sale. They don’t have a huge selection of food(muffins, cookies etc) but you can’t blame them. They have packed so much into the space they have. They do let restaurants deliver there though.

This rating is based on the great game selections and the extremly helpful staff. We went here on a Sat and participated in a game demo(Chaostle). After the demo we stayed to play a few more games which the staff helped us pick out and gave us game play advice as well. We also had coffee, a smoothie and a few snacks. The selection of food is relatively small so don’t plan on having a meal there. The coffee was good but this place is really all about the games. We didn’t partake in any of the beer or wine and didn’t explore the selection. This was a great place for us to spend some family time on a Saturday.

As a remote tech worker/coffee shop commando, I tend to jump from coffee shop to coffee shop every day of the week since I find there to be less distractions in them then I have in my home office. I’ve tried quite a few in the area. Delice, Archetype, Scooters, and Crane. With the exception of Archetype they all have one thing in common: Abysmally slow internet thats either throttled to the point that your VPN cant connect, or they are just too cheap to have fast enough internet for their patrons to be able to get any work done. At the advice of a gentleman I met while working at a co-working space, I decided to give Spielbound a try. On my first day in I was greeted quickly and courteously. I explained I wouln’t be playing games as I was looking just for someplace with coffee, drinks, and reliable internet, that was friendly with coffee shop commandos such as myself. I was pleasantly surprised to be told that it was fine, and that they were actively making improvements to the café side specifically to make it more welcoming for remote workers to post up for the day to work. On to the important parts The drinks: great selection of beers and sodas, and a pretty good homespun menu of different coffee drinks. The food: while they don’t serve food themselves, its right in midtown crossing and if you call any of the restaurants in the crossing, most of the time they’ll happily deliver to Spielbound. The games: the game selection is amazing and there truly is a game for anyone there, regardless of gameplay style you prefer. The atmosphere: Whether you are looking for a quiet place to get work done during the day, with fast enough internet to get work done, or a place to hang out with friends and play some board games, or even just have a polite conversation, Spielbound is a wonderful place and I will certainly be going back many times to come.

How have I not written a review for Spielbound yet?!? Moreover, how do I properly convey my love for this place? I have been coming here regularly for about a year now. What keeps me coming back? — Amazing staff. Whether it be game recommendations or teaching you how to play a new game, they’ve got you covered. — Drink selection. Coffee shop by day, bar by night. I enjoy their ever-changing variety of craft beers/mead on tap. — Location. Right on the outskirts of Midtown Crossing and all the food options that come with that(and I can walk here!) — Game library, DUH. For big groups, they have private party rooms that one can rent. Wednesday nights get a little packed, since it is trivia night. When I go to Spielbound, I usually like to first play a game I am familiar with, and then try a new game. That way, I always have a good time, and I always try something new! I’m leaving Omaha soon, and will miss this place more than most. How sad it is, that I must cancel my membership. :(

They had me at Brombeere Gose! Finally made it here and love it! Even the restrooms have a Harry Potter type feel,(but not in a weird way). I could see myself frequenting this place quite a bit! A place to study, read, hideout, and play a game or two! Unique beers are hypnotizing!

This place is just beyond belief incredible. They have every game I have ever heard of, some times multiple copies of each. General game accessories like octagonal«dishes» to roll your dice into. Cards to reserve tables while you choose a new game, or use the reverse side of that card to request more players for small parties. The staff are all friendly and will teach you how to play a game if you’re trying to learn a new one. A multitude of drinks, much and more than you would find at a Starbucks plus café food(muffins etc…). I cannot say enough good things about this place. I wish I could leave a 6* review. Forget that, a 10* review.

Love the game choice! This place is for the amateur/traditional gamer and the pros :) We took in our Game of Thrones board game and bought beer from the bar. Coffee and snacks are also available. We were there about 5 hours, and we were happy they were cool with having a pizza delivered. People are super friendly, and like to come over to watch games. We had a few bystanders and welcomed questions about are game. It was a fun night! Cost: $ 5/person if you are going to use there board games. But free, if you bring your own :) Going back, definitely.

Yes, yes, yes! Both the concept and the practice of Speilbound is amazing! Being able to get together with a few friends and play from such a huge variety of board games along with a lovely coffee and drink selection makes this a 5 start evening hands down. First time my friends and I went in we were a tad overwhelmed by all of the game options, but there was always a handy employee to go over selections and give advice, on both what to play and the rules of the games. Absolutely lively location and atmosphere!

Really cool place to go spend an afternoon. You can easily make friends with other people and play games. Learned to play empire builder which I understand is similar to ticket to ride. They have a good variety of beers and juices and hot drinks.

For the past few years, a group of us would get together at our home and play board games. Well, the hosting at home may now have officially come to a close. Why rely on your own meager stash of games(even if you have a closet full) when you can gather at Spielbound to revisit old favorites(I heart Settlers AND they have all of the flavors!!) or try something completely new. What I really appreciate is having a staff member on hand to explain the game basics, so wading through the instruction booklet is more to clarify nuances of rules rather than simply jumping in to get started. Love that they have beverage options that include well-priced, nice selection of beverages of the adult and family friendly variety. Since our particular visit was for our group of 8, we also reserved the Red Room and was able to bring in some snacks to keep our energy levels going during our six hours of friendly competition. Clean, friendly, well organized… this boardgame heaven meets café is genius and a welcome addition to Omaha. Close enough to the«heart» of Midtown Crossing that parking can be found within close proximity. The minimum spend of $ 80 for the use of the private room was easily met(and we could have four separate tabs, the value combined to meet the minimum). I also appreciate the«players wanted» signs that you could choose to post at your table if your group of two were interested in expanding to a group of 4 or 6 to really make game play more interesting. Knowing the cost of some of these boardgames and the care and upkeep those of us who own such games take, a slight charge to avail yourself of their abundant game options is well worth it. Apparently I’m not alone in this opinion, as the place was packed on a recent Saturday night — with couples, families and groups of friends engaged in friendly competition.

I feel like $ 20 a month for membership is pretty steep with a per person requirement. I’m also disappointed that they use Hershey syrup.

Dropped by last night for a game night with some friends. Had a blast while playing three different games we had never heard of. They have a rather large selection as well as coffee, beer, and other beverages. Be warned that the $ 5 entry fee is no longer being waived for newbies. You may also have to wait for an open table. The place was absolutely packed last night. Spielbound is a great addition to Midtown Crossing.

Ok we are officially addicted to the point we are thinking about a year member ship now. It has been 3 full days in a row we have spent here. ahhhh! That must mean 5 stars! I mean the world’s largest collection of board games are here in Omaha and then they have beers on tap and in bottles and wine, fully loaded coffee bar and loose leaf from tea smith! Andrew, the general manager, seems to always be there is superfriendly and can explain pretty much any game to you and gives the best suggestions for your party to play! Also you can order mike’s subs for delivery if u get hungry as well as from any delivery restaurant, but they also have pastries, oatmeal and cup of noodles to snack on as well. This is probably the best thing that has happened to Omaha in 2014!

Great staff, great service. They offer an experience that is hard to find in Omaha. I could go to a comic store and sit around some tables and argue the merits of my Warhammer models or Yu Gi Oh. Hell I could even bust out some Magic or Pokemon, but Spielbound has a few things. Namely games. All of them. settlers of Catan(and expansion packs) to classic games like Stratego. They have a fair fee to have fun. 5 bucks per night or $ 15 amonth. Similar to a Zune Pass. I guess its is xbox music now, but it doesn’t matter. $ 150 for an annual pass seems like a deal. Beer, Wine, and Coffee. great atmosphere and a mix of people. I can’t wait to start a game night.

We were impressed! It was challenging to head to the bar and talk to the employee who greeted us with a smile when we walked in, as we were hopelessly drawn to the mammoth room of thousands of games! Pleasantly surprised to see alcoholic beverages, including taps of good beers and mead, in addition to their ample café offerings. Beers were also reasonably priced. A day of game play costs $ 5. You can get yearly or monthly memberships, and you can rent rooms for very reasonable rates(I think one of the rooms was $ 80 for the night, but anything your group spends on beverages is taken off that total). Of course you get a free trial visit for your first time. We were overwhelmed by the game selection, and our groups varied interests — but an employee swung by, helped us pick a game, and then explained the instructions to us carefully and helpfully(and returned frequently to ensure we were ok). Apparently we ended up with a game destined to sit below monopoly in their joke«Games that end friendships» category, but we enjoyed ourselves nonetheless. Employees were always wandering around to be flagged down at any moment for assistance, which was great. They seemed to know a ton about the most popular games, and their enthusiasm was infectious. A group next to us with CAH(a personal favorite game) at their table wasn’t playing, but were gossiping loudly in the otherwise library-like environment. I can imagine that an intense, quiet, game-focused group might get annoyed by less focused or intoxicated participants nearby, but for us it was a great night out, and a spectacular alternative to frat filled bars.
