My family has frequented Kohinoor for years, the food is decent and it’s close to home. Tonight we had a completely different experience and we will not be returning. I brought my family to meet my brother’s family there this evening and when I asked for a table for 6 the server seemed unsure what to do. He went and discussed it with someone while I looked at three open tables each with 6 seats. He came back looking distressed and hurriedly sat us and walked away. He took our order, gave us our water once, and we didn’t hear from him again until he wanted us to pay. My wife had to ask another server for more water. All of this is no big deal to us. We are patient and understanding. We did not find any of this strange, just not ideal. At the end of the meal we would have walked out happy with our experience. The server came back and hurriedly asked about us paying. No one was done eating yet. We still had about half of our food on our plates. My brother and I laid our cards with our receipts and he again hurried over to charge them and return for our signatures. We continued talking and eating thinking nothing of it. When it looked like most of our food was gone, he started to clean up our table in front of us. I had never seen anyone else do this, so I assumed he was getting a head start and trying to make the table cleaner for our experience. He didn’t stop at the empty plates, he took everything that we hadn’t boxed up, then the water pitcher the other server left us, and then our glasses. We started to take the hint and we were winding down the conversation. If he had waited 2 minutes, we would have walked out thinking it was odd, but no hard feelings. In the middle of our conversation he interrupted me stating that he had 8 people waiting for the table and we needed to leave. This was a minute or so after the table was cleared and just 20 minutes since he had brought us our food. We were only there for about 45 minutes, from asking for a table to walking out. He insisted that we go, so we agreed confused as to why. This section had two other tables with enough seats for 6 people and those people had been there as long as we had. They were not hurried to pay, pressured to clean up, or asked to leave. As my brother’s family and mine walked out the door, still confused by the request, we saw only 4 girls sitting pleasantly in the waiting area not 8 people waiting to be seated. We were asked to leave before we were ready so he could seat a party of people who had not yet arrived. If you are looking for decent Indian food for takeout, Kohinoor would be a fine option. I would not recommend eating there if you can wait 5 minutes to drive north or south to get better food and service that doesn’t leave you confused and upset. My family won’t be eating there anymore, I can recommend you don’t either.

Not Bombay but it’s a perfectly good alternative for the middle of the day. Great taste on the food, sub par service from the waiting staff.

If you like good Indian food you want to eat here. This placed far surpassed my expectations. They had a killer lunch option for $ 10. I got the chicken tikka masala and the lamb karahi. The entire lunch special comes with a couple sides and a sweet coconut dish. It was just the right amount and was super scrumptious. I loved every bite and will be back for more! The service was pretty pathetic which is my only complaint.

I’ve only been here once, so while the food could be better than my experience, I’m not likely to find out because it just wasn’t as good as Bombay House so I’m not likely to switch. We went at lunch on a Friday and so they weren’t very busy. The restaurant looks nice, nice staff, and the food is decent but every dish was just a step down from my favorite places, except for the Rose Lassi, that was really good here.

I was pleasantly surprised. I had put off going here for a long time. I got the chicken curry which was nicely flavored and when I asked for hot, it was HOT, not Utah hot– hot hot. I’ve tried other places where I’ve asked for hot and gotten almost spicy. The garlic naan is good, but a little over powering. I knock one star off because the person at the cash register REALLY didn’t want to be there and had no issues about showing it.

This is not Bombay House, BUT, big but, I was very impressed with Kohinoor. Kohinoor is closer to my house which makes it easier for take out and I will gladly go here for a quick fix. I have never done any sit down dining there, so I can’t give you a dine in experience. I recommend this place to any Indian food lovers.

Couldn’t figure out what to try on a Sunday. One of the few places open after a random drive up state street. We were the only people in there round about 3pm. All the food was superb. We tried chicken pakora, naan, and a spicy chicken tikka entrée and shared. It was fantastic, great flavor and adequately spicy. All together it was a little over 20 bucks for my 5 year old and the two adults, so a great value for the variety and amount of food we received. I was actually quite impressed so 5 stars rather than 4. Great experience.

Love this place! Our regular date night place to get food that the kids won’t eat!!! Reasonably priced, and authentic.

Great place! We eat Indian food all over, from Dallas to Utah and this is one of the best. In Utah my list of best Indian food is here tied with Bombay House then Copper Bowel in Salt Lake. They all have strengths that are different. Kohinoor’s is in my opinion the Bahji dishes and then Vegetarian dishes. In truth all the dishes are great. The service is gray too. Plus if you sigh up for the test specials you get some great saving!

YUM! when it comes to Indian food I like what I like, and Kohinoor delivers! their garlic naan is to die for, especially when paired with some chicken tikka masala, it’s heaven! you can make your food as mild or as spicy as you want it, so if you want to try Indian food but the spices intimidate you then this is the perfect place. I always get amazing customer service whether I’m dining in or getting take out, and did I mention the prices? they keep it fair, nothing too expensive! they also have a lunch special for 10 dollars that will fill you up and then some. I recommend Kohinoor to anyone

I recommend the lunch special! Great way to get a full taste of the menu in small amounts. Other than that it is deliciously family style. Their sauces are amazing. I wish the chicken pieces were cut smaller, but that’s just my personal preference.

The food was really good, I really wish they did a buffet so I could try the other dishes. I went for lunch, were you pick 2 dishes out if a list of 6 or 7. They were both very good. Just came again, they have chicken tikka masala every Monday and Friday, and it’s absolutely excellent, so I’ve updated my rating to 5 stars.

Most consistent taste and quality of ingredients of any Indian food statewide. Service is slowish, understaffing I think. Their dining room is old and unattractive. Would easily give 5 stars if the atmosphere was brighter or cleaner. Taste is again very consistent and my favorite in the state. Price is fair to average for full-dine Indian cuisine.

I am not a connoisseur of Indian food in any way — I’ve eaten at Bombay House in Provo once and ate a catered meal by an another Indian restaurant, so my experience with the food is obviously limited. That being said, I know when food is good. My only complaint is that the service was very slow because there was only one server. Granted there were only a few tables seated, but it was dinner time, and I’d have expected at least one more server helping. I might have been hyperaware of this, as well, because my best friend and I were in a bit of a time crunch. We shared the Kohinoor Snacks(vegetable samosa, onion bhaji, chicken pakora, and vegetable pakora), and he was kind enough to let me take a few sips of his mango lassi, which was INCREDIBLE. For our entrees, he ordered the Novratan Kurma and naan, and I ordered the Chicken Briyani and garlic naan. The appetizer was really delicious and rather plentiful — there were two of everything except for the samosa, and they were all so well seasoned and delicious. Their tamarind sauce was very good as well(I’m not a mint sauce fan personally). The Novratan Kurma was really excellent — in my opinion a must-have when dining here. It’s extremely full of flavor and a little bit sweet. My Briyani was very good(I asked for it to be mild to medium, and it was just spicy enough to be enjoyable for me), but I’d probably only order it again if I were out with a non-vegetarian friend who would share dishes family style. The prices were a little on the high side, but for the quantity and quality, they’re worth it. We each had a LOT of leftovers afterward and had to skip the Peshawari Naan for dessert(sad face).

What a great find! Food was delicious. Meats were moist, naan was tender and flavorful, and the flavors were so unique. Definitely a must try again!

New Year’s Eve. My wife and I arrived early(5:40) to beat the rush — only two other tables occupied when we got there. Placed our order in a few minutes, and then waited and waited. More tables filled in; no food arrived. After 30 minutes, the lone waiter came and brought plates and utensils, and said the kitchen had been bogged down with call-in orders.(Shouldn’t customers in the restaurant have priority??) After 50 minutes, a second waiter finally came and said there had been some confusion with our order. What was it we wanted? We had noticed that not a single other seated customer had been given food either, in the time we were there. He said he could get it to us in 5 or 10 minutes. We got up and walked out, telling a few other«diners» on the way how long we had waited and wishing them luck. I’ve never been so annoyed in a restaurant. Grrrrr

Honestly, it was pretty similar to India Palace in Provo — down to the glasses and little survey that comes with the check. It’s delicious. The prices are also comparable; most dishes run $ 12 – 14, but they’re usually big enough to share between two. I recommend the butter chicken with a side of the sweet Peshwari naan. The mango lassi is especially creamy, too. Service was friendly, restaurant was clean, no complaints whatsoever.
