Closed at this location. After reading the Unilocal reviews, I wanted to go here and be knocked out by a chili that kicked my ass and demanded, «Who’s your Daddy?» Instead, I got, «Where’s my Daddy?» When we pulled up during lunchtime on a weekday, there’s a white piece of paper in the window that says, «Chili Daddy is gone but not forgotten. Like our Facebook page for upcoming news.» There were people inside who came out to talk to me. They’re the owners of the new business that’s about to open in 10 days. It’s a sandwich/panini/wrap place that makes everything fresh. While I appreciate the sales pitch, I think she’s targeting the wrong demographic. People craving a chili dog are not the type to want a freshly made wrap. When I got home, I liked the Chili Daddy page on Facebook and was disappointed to find it only had 10 other people liking it, and there was no news of a grand reopening. I’ll keep the Chili Daddy dream alive, but for now, it’s only a dream…

Chili Daddy is excellent! The owner is so friendly, and willing to let you taste the different chilis before you decide. Their menu changes almost daily, and they have something delicious for everyone. Their chili is made mild so that you can add heat to your liking. If you aren’t into spice, leave it as is– if you are, choose from all the hot sauces and peppers that he has to offer. I have even seen vegan and vegetarian chili on their menu! This is place has a definite spot in my list of rotating restaurant choices.

Before coming to Orlando I don’t even know what kind of food to look for, even till now I still have no clue. I came across this place, and found something gourmet and has a specialty that is of course chili! I love chili! and this place make em’ BTW they even have ghost chili! as a Cali resident I don’t get exposed to much ghost chili here but this place is genius to even use this to compliment the chili. I got so stoked on their Ghost chili powder that some guy there asked me if I was done with the bottle so he can have some too, gosh I didn’t know there was one ghost chili powder in the joint, but it made it seemed that I hogged it all LoL!!! We ordered the Taco Trio: Texas beef, mango chicken and pork verde tacos! These tacos were awesome! To me they were kinda like samplers so you can tryout the all three different tacos, the Texas beef has some spicy but not hot, the mango chicken had a tad sweet touch to it, and the pork verde had that mild salsa taste. We also ordered the mojo chili platter, cheese, chili over jasmine rice, this also was worth a try. Oh wait you can’t forget that Diablo Slaw! Coleslaw with a cool name? Yup but this was different from the rest of coleslaws, this one has seasoning to it and it can’t be missed. There’s not much flavor in Orlando when it comes to eats, but this place is a few that does something different, and uses chili to the next level. Be warned though when using the ghost chili powder, don’t rub your eyes not even a small hint because you will get spice burns and get teary eyed like me. If your a bone head and rub your eyes, run to the restroom at the back and simply flush your eyes with water. Before we left I also bought me a ghost chili pepper for me to make BBQ chicken wings, and I’ve been using them since. Thanks to the guy that works there he told me one whole pepper of ghost chili is one pot full. For Locals and tourist alike, this place is well worth a chili try! Get some from your chili daddy!

After months of telling my bf how many great reviews this place has he finally agrees to try it. I have created a monster. I think he’s been back every other day since. I would be right there with him but I don’t work close by. Ok so they are closed on Sunday’s and Mondays. They have only a few. Chili choices in the summer being that business is sort of slow. Anyone who has it in their head that it’s too hot to eat chili needs to try this place! So far we have tried the Monterey Chicken… there’s bacon in it! Of course this is by far my favorite! Tried the pork tacos, not spicey at all. Great for the kids who can’t handle the heat. Also tried the beef tacos, yum. Cole slaw is different, it’s made with a tad bit(technical term) of sesame seed oil. It’s good, just not in large amounts. He has these ginormous monster boars head hot dogs, plain or definitely add some chili! Did I mention the Frito pies? Fritos topped with chili and cheese! So many choices! I could go on and on, this is just one of those places you have to try for yourself. And when you love it, I can say told ya so!

I met fellow Unilocaler Chris R. and one of his friends here one day last week. I’d heard a lot about this place but had never tried it, except for a very small sample I had at the chili cook-off in Baldwin Park earlier this year. That small sample wasn’t enough for me to form an opinion, plus I’m a chili fan(vegetarian or otherwise) and I’d heard much about Chili Daddy’s varied menu, so I was overdue for a trip here. There’s much to be had here — the menu offers tacos, chili by itself, chili dogs, sides and more. I wasn’t feeling super-adventurous when I was here, so I opted for three tacos. At least one had the mango chicken in it, and I know I had a pineapple/ginger chicken one, as well. All were tasty and filling. I would definitely try each again, though perhaps if I make it back then I’ll have to try at least one chili on its own. I’m curious to give a few others a shot. My mother makes a very good chili, and in the past I’ve had many other ones that are just as good, so I’m into trying new chilis and experiencing the different spices, ingredients and flavors. There’s a lot at Chili Daddy that I’d like to try(I didn’t get to try the Frito Pie that I’ve read so much about), so hopefully I’ll be back sooner rather than later. The prices are a little high for my liking, so I’ll have to be a little more selective if I make it back here. I wanted to try a few other things, but I’d already paid I think maybe around $ 8-$ 9(?) for the three tacos and a soda, so I didn’t want to overdo it. Give this place a try if you like chili or would like some unique tacos. Chris R. recommended the tacos here, and that’s what I had, and I didn’t leave disappointed or still hungry. One final note: There was a shaker of ghost chili pepper up on the counter. I was tempted to try it, but Chris R. advised against it. I’m morbidly curious to experience it, but maybe I never will. Chris said that even one sprinkle of that on a taco or anything else would require a person to have lots of water, milk and some other stuff handy afterwards. I think he even mentioned a defibrillator or something like that. I think he was just joking about that last part, though … I think.

I have only been once and not sure when I am getting back to eat the tacos… The chili was fantastic. Great spot for something different. Don’t go there to hand out long though-it’s more of a to go place or a quick bite. If your around the Orange and Michigan area go try it!!! Would like to put something witty here… nothing coming out…

My boyfriend and I are down here on vacation. We wanted some local flare and went in search of a food truck for lunch downtown. No such luck, so I pulled up my Unilocal app and looked for the closest best reviewed place in the area. We decided on Chili Daddy. My first thought upon looking at the menu was«wow those are some high prices.» But I decided to let the taste be my deciding factor on this. So because of the price we went with two different tacos, he went with the Texas Red and I went with the Mango Chicken. We both added Chipotle to it for some extra heat. It worked really well with the Mango Chicken, adding just enough heat to match the sweetness of it. To be completely honest though, spending $ 12 for 6 tacos, no drinks included we had tap water to drink, it was too pricey for being an ok meal. The meal left me still hungry(just finished the meal) and not satisfied. I would recommend eating there if you want to pay an arm and a leg for something that will still leave you hungry. I will say this, the Jasmine rice at the bottom was a nice mix but not enough to make me love the dish.

The food is five star worthy. I ate here yesterday, 5÷12÷2011, and had the Thai Basil Chicken Chili and a Pork Verde Taco. Both were quite delicious. There are plenty of sauces available with which to spice up your food. They serve a medium hot chili for broader appeal. I used rooster sauce(sriracha) for the Thai Basil chili and Cholula Chili Lime sauce on the taco. Should have order 3 tacos. They were really tasty. I will return. Why only four stars? I have a personal issue with giving any counter service, styrofoam and paper serving containers place a fifth star. That’s just me. This is great chili! Can’t wait to go back for a Frito pie and a chili dog!

Went to the Chili Cook-off last weekend and tried their Mango Chicken Chili. OMG! Out of this world. It amazed me how juicy and tender the chicken was. I was actually going to vote for them but they weren’t in the competition :( So I went back yesterday for lunch. I had the Thai Basil Pork Chili on Jasmine rice. It was awesome! The bf had the Texas Red and a chili dog with the Pork Verde on it. I think the dog woulda been better with the Texas Red on it. Either, or, all was good. It was a bit pricey. $ 18 for two cups of chili, a chili dog, and a Bud Light Lime. Next time I go I’m going to get the three tacos for $ 6.

Chili Daddy has food that makes me tear up and almost throw a tantrum when I’ve come to the end of my meal. I want moar! 3 Tacos for $ 5.99 is a good, good deal for such extremely delicious chili on top of jasmine rice(my favorite kind!). I was so surprised when I saw that they pair their chili with jasmine rice and realized what a genius move it was. When I’m not in the mood for crunchiness, I simply get the chili & rice combo instead. You can get the«bowl» for about $ 5 as well and it fills me up pretty decently. My favorite is the Mango Chicken. It blew my mind the first time I tasted it. Just the name itself intrigued me — I love mangoes, I love chicken, gotta be good — and that’s why I decided to try it. Since then, it’s pretty much the only thing I go for when I visit Chili Daddy. I love that strange mix of sweet and salty in my food at times, and I think that’s why I love Mango Chicken so much. But for those that have reservations about that mix, do not fret, because the sweetness of the mango isn’t too distinct or overpowering. It’s just there. You may not even notice it! Have I mentioned that I am actually not a big fan of chili? I’ve had them before on several occasions and found them to be, «meh, it’s a’ight». I’ll still eat them if you offer it to me, but I don’t go looking for it. So the fact that I LOVECHILIDADDYCHILI should say something, right? Right. Good. Now I want moar.

I ate here yesterday. The Pork Verde taco was SUPERB! I thought it would just be another taco but it was SOGOOD. They give you a deal on 3 tacos I think it’s $ 5.99 and you and mix and match different ones. I really liked the frito pie too. The Texas chili was not as awesome but it was good. It’s a little thin for my tastes. I have to try some of the other chili’s like the thai basil or the mango chicken. Also I find the chili price to be kinda high. By default their chili is not spicy, they have all kinds of powders and sauces on the wall you can add to your chili to get it as spicy as you want it. That way you can take your whimpy friends who can’t handle a bit of spice and you can both eat at your correct heat level. The owner is a real cool dude, I used to go to their old location hidden behind a barber shop. They have $ 2 beers here too. They will start accepting credit cards in a few weeks middle of Feb 2011 They do have a Vegan chili but I would call ahead and make sure they have some that day as their offerings tend to change.

I have eaten this chili several times and every time I walk away very happy. Thai chicken chili, green verde chili, the list goes on and on. A must for chili lovers.

Oh my God! I’ve found another Four Rivers only they serve Chili instead of BBQ. Seriously! It was so good. Isn’t it amazing when someone with a passion for food and a great talent for cooking opens a restaurant and serves up wonderful food. Chili Daddy has moved from the hidden location on South Street to the space formerly occupied by Soups and Stews by Lea on Michigan. Sorta eclectic menu, and all of it featuring some kind of awesome chili. They rotate through about 15 kinds of chili from day to day. You can have your chili straight up or over rice — by the cup or by the gallon. With beans or without. Beef, chicken or pork. You can have chili dogs with your choice of cheese, onions, fixin’s. And — something I never thought I’d see let alone eat — chili tacos. Rice with your choice of chili and cheese and sour cream and pico and onions in crispy taco shells. I had Thai Verde Chili tacos and they were awesome. The base chili’s are spicy but not hot. That’s on purpose so everyone can get what they enjoy. But if you want hot … there is a wall of hot sauces. Some of which are ‘oh my God, I’ve died and gone to hell and Satan just stuck a pitch fork in my mouth” hot. But it’s your choice and they warn you. And apparently the shakers of Ghost pepper powder were actually banned by the Geneva Convention. When I was there, people were finishing their original orders and going back to the counter to try other stuff. That’s a really good sign!

The best chili I ever had. Many different varieties but I had the Texas Red and it was loaded with lean, tender, tasty meat, beans and a vibrant soupy sauce. My pal got the three taco combo plate and loved it as well. Serves beer, soda and water. Steamed and blistered Boar’s Head hot dogs on that chiabata bread sounded aweswome. Throw some Chili on it as well and I think they are on to something. I saw salads, and other good stuff also. Try the extra sauces too. They have smoking hot Ghost powder and Habenero powder. Nice, unpretentious couple running the place. Just to the west of the new Mediterranean Blue Greek place. Adds a nice touch to the Michigan Street SODO area.

If someone told me the best place in Orlando to get a bowl of chili was in the back alley of a non-descript building off South Street in the shadow of the 408, I’d have said they were crazy. And then, I stopped by Chili Daddy and I gotta say it’s true. Its the best chili I’ve had in a long time. The owner is very amiable and offered us samples of any of the 7 chili’s on his menu. I ended up with the classic texas red chili over jasmine rice. For $ 6 I was very satisfied. It’s like a fine wine boutique, only instead of grapes, its beans. And instead of getting drunk, you get gassy. It’s my kinda place.

Excellent chillis! I love the variety of flavors and the variety of sizes you can get. They’re only open till 6:30 tuesday through saturday. On Sundays they are at the Lake Eola market. The owners are extremely nice and will even give you small samples of the chili to see what you like. They also have a nice little outdoor seating area or you can take your food to the park down the street on Primrose. If you don’t seethe place at first, please keep looking, it’s in the back of the building on the NE corner of South and Graham.
