A few of us went here on Thursday. Two of us had the $ 5 burger special. One of us had salmon. The food was satisfactory. We had six bourbons. We had had Basil Hayden which is typically $ 8 – 10 in a restaurant. $ 40 for a bottle in a liquor store so that’s a fair markup. It was $ 18 per drink here. Just on the rocks. More expensive than it was at the Venetian in Vegas two weeks ago. I rarely complain. Most places in Baldwin are a little over priced. I understand the mark up. But this was ridiculous. The prices for bourbon were not listed on the menu and I take responsibility for not asking. I paid my bill. But I will not be back. I don’t mind paying for delicious food and great drinks. I do mind being blatantly ripped off.

I never had a bad meal there, but they have changed the menu along with prices! $ 15 for a chopped salad is over the top for me. It’s more of a bar type atmosphere than a steakhouse. It’s a small L-shaped place with a long bar and they have live music on the weekends. Their happy hour has change and goes until 6:30PM, but it used to be until 7! All of the bartenders and staff have been very cordial to me which is very much appreciated! The best time to enjoy a quiet, fine dining experience is during the week or early on the weekends. It’s just pricy for the restaurant layout and atmosphere. It’s more of a place to meet up for a drink after work than a fine dining establishment.

Got the steak burger but it was nothing special, it didn’t really have any flavor and the bread wasn’t very good, too thick and hard to chew. The wife got waffle and chicken and that was actually tasty with the spicy sauce it comes with. Went in for brunch with family. Would go back but not getting the burger.

So we call asking if they serve Sunday brunch. Get an answer that describes a French something or other. After listening to more entrees my wife finally asks if they have eggs. Person who answered phone then reveals a host of egg dishes. So we head over, sit down and are handed the brunch menu which has all the usual suspects. Maybe the person who answered the phone doesn’t know what brunch is. So then we get seated and proceed to wait for approximately 10 minutes as server after server strolls past us as we are invisible. I finally walk over to the hostess to ask if someone can bring us coffee. A few minutes later a server wanders over … shocked that we’ve been waiting. Boy I hope the food is good because we are not off to a good start. BTW coffee hasn’t come yet. Well food was very good so we’ll give them another star and another try.

Hands down the best burger I’ve ever had. Phenomenal service. A spectacular beer & wine list. Sour beers you won’t find anywhere else. You’ll find me here every Thursday for the house $ 5 burger special.

First off, the server was really good. Second, the steak was fantastic. Third, unfortunately, drinks were skimpy and severely overpriced. As was pretty much everything. The pros don’t outweigh that con for me. Just was too expensive for what you get.

Very disappointed that they changed their menu. I don’t see myself returning. They told us the bread would be 20 minutes. Ordered the French Onion soup and it was very bland — Outback’s is better. The sides seemed under cooked. The steaks were too salty. I truly feel I could’ve gotten a better meal for much less at Outback. I’ll return when the chef/menu changes.

Came here last night for Thursday Burger special. Arrived at 7:15… Sat outside. 6 of us. Took a LONG time to get waited on, even longer to get our beverages… beverages were finished long before we finally got our burgers and salads Dinner took … Finally got out of there after 9:00PM … Not even crowded last night… Burgers and fries and salads tasty, but service was a thumbs down

I have tried this place out for the thursday burger special($ 5) 4oz burgers as well as sunday brunch. The burgers are good and the perfect size if you share the fries and a side salad with someone and you can tell that the beef is high quality. My favorite thing though was sunday brunch and to be more specific the biscuits and gravy. They have just the right amount of sausage and spice and a perfect serving size.

I had tried to be on top of my game and made a valentines day reservation, at least, 3 weeks early. I was very excited because i have only been here once, and it was great so was really looking forward to this evening. I had already looked on the website and reviewed the menu so i knew what i wanted to order. The day of, the hostess called to confirm our reservation. When we walked in, there was no line and no one waiting to be seated, there were also a few open tables in the restaurant so it wasn’t packed, over filled, or slammed. We were walked to the very last table in the restaurant, squished up against the wall. The host said«enjoy» and walked away. There was only 1 chair at the table. I had to stand there and wait for someone to get me a chair. We noticed that there was only one menu/piece of paper on the table, not ever one for each of us. It was a special«valentines day menu» $ 50 per person and you had your choice of a few items, 3 courses. There was a soup/salad course and 2 entrée courses. It appears that the 2nd course may have been an appetizer course, but no dessert course, or wine/champagne choice. When the server came over and asked for our drink order, we asked for the regular menu. She said they were only doing the valentines day menu and she apologized. I said i was a little upset because when i made the reservation(3 weeks prior), on the OpenTable website, it did not say anything about a special menu. She came back with water and said the manager was sorry but there was an issue with OpenTable not putting up their menu(but no manager came to tell us this, they made the server tell us). I continued to tell her that I had also looked at their personal website to review the menu and decide what I wanted, and the ONLY thing pertaining to valentines day was that they were going to have a special wine and to reserve it so they dont sell out, NOTHING about only a limited menu being offered. I also told her that when the host called to confirm my reservation, they did not say anything to inform me that there was a limited menu and to ensure i was aware and ok with that. If she had done that, I would have cancelled my reservation. She again, was sorry. We told her we were going to leave. The manager never came over to say anything. On our way our, we told the hostess about why we were leaving, still never got a manager or a manager never followed up out to apologize. I was very upset, my night was ruined and i was now hungry and having to drive around and find a place that had availability. VERYDISAPPOINTED

Decided to go to brunch for our anniversary and we wanted to try something new. The restaurant itself was clean and there was some outdoor seating. The brunch menu was limited but had some good choices and they offered a mimosa menu with a variety of options. I had the two+two+two and my boyfriend got the Eggs Benedict which came with home fries. Our server was friendly, but for the type of restaurant we were in I was a little surprised by her saying ya’ll and folks, but her service was ok so it is what it is. When the food came out we were very disappointed but had waited quite awhile for our food so we were not about to send it back. The eggs Benedict which are supposed to have poached eggs were so over cooked that there was no liquid yolk inside, there was no asparagus like shown in the photo, the ham was more like bacon which was not mentioned in the description, and finally the home fries were not homemade and were more like cheap frozen home fries. Home fries are one of the easiest things to make so it was ridiculous to use frozen crap especially when you are charging $ 12. I ordered my eggs over easy and again the eggs were way over cooked. In conclusion this was the first and last time we will eat at this restaurant for brunch and will definitely not be recommending it to anyone.

I really really want this place to be great. This review is about brunch and I will post another on dinner. We showed up for brunch at 12ish on a Sunday. Crowded but not full and we were seated quickly. Server was to us quickly and was great throughout the meal. Apparently they are transitioning to a new brunch menu so they were about of about 6 things. That’s always a bit of a disappointment but there were still plenty of choices. We started with drinks of course! The bloody mary was great and they have a long list of things you can add on like bacon and blue cheese olives. They call it a «bar» but really you just tell them what you want and they build it for you. My companions had the traditional mimosa and the Bellini. Nice pour on the mimosa; definitely worth $ 3. The Bellini included pineapple sherbet which made it too sweet for me but it was really frothy and pretty! Unfortunately, the food was only ok. Two of us built our own breakfast burrito. Nice option but somehow were both a little dry and tasteless. Mostly just eggs in a tortilla. Not enough of the other stuff we added. And no salsa. Who has breakfast burritos and no salsa?! Had to power through the dryness. Ok choice for SUnday brunch and affordable but not overwhelming.

Honestly the atmosphere is nice but the menu was a little limited and pricey and the food while not bad was ‘ehh’. Unexciting, uninteresting, and too many other choices around to plan on coming back soon.

I have eaten at Jack’s and have had it delivered several times. I have always found the food to be really good. The steaks are great and cooked to order. The au gratin potatoes are amazing! Haven’t tried all the appetizers but my two faves are the calamari and seared tuna. We ordered dinner for delivery this past Saturday night and were completely surprised that one of the steaks was significantly smaller. It looked like a 4 oz instead of a 6 oz. I called the restaurant and asked to speak to a manager. I explained the problem to the general manager, TJ. He was apologetic for the difference in sizes of our steaks and offered to have another one cooked and delivered right away. It was delivered very quickly. Mistakes happen, it’s only human. But how a restaurant handle those mistakes is telling. I was thoroughly pleased with the customer service and I will no doubt continue to give Jack’s my business. Thank you for another great meal!

Really enjoy the Ribs Mac & Cheese. Tasty and most ribs. Creamy cheese that sticks to the twisted noodle. Also The Wedge Salad is one of the best around.

S’mores are always a good idea, gooey marshmallows, melted chocolate and a certain sense of nostalgia that accompanies roasting a marshmallow and squishing it between graham crackers. But let’s get real, firing up the charcoal grill in the Florida humidity isn’t worth it or all that appealing. And microwaved s’mores? Why even bother. So you can imagine my surprise when I visited Jack’s Steakhouse in Baldwin Park and stumbled upon their s’mores dessert. Curious, I asked my server«Is it a brownie or cake with a s’more flavor?» Nope, they serve REAL s’mores with marshmallows, Hershey’s chocolate(of course) and graham crackers. The ingredients are paired with a roasting flame and skewers to brown your marshmallows to crispy, gooey perfection. These s’mores were downright entertaining {and tasty} for everyone at the table. S’mores from the charcoal grill are irreplaceable, but when the craving strikes and grilling options are limited, head over to Jack’s Steakhouse for your tableside s’more fix. PS: August 30 was National Toasted Marshmallow Day, but it’s never too late to celebrate right?

Just had a great meal! Came for happy hour at First Fridays and stayed for dinner. My bf had the steak burger and it was gone before I noticed he stated eating. Must have been tasty. And I had my new favorite summer meal! Grilled salmon with quinoa, brussels sprouts, corn and peppers. Such good grill flavor on the salmon and yummy healthy veggies! Will be back to Jack’s soon but we would love more happy hour specials especially on food.

Forgot to update! Tried for brunch a second time and the food was amazing. I didn’t look to see if they had cleaned since last visit as I say outside(which I highly recommend) The server was attentive without being bothersome. Quite a feat considering he had a broken foot! French toast is too good for words. We ordered the kid portion as a side dish and ended up ordering another round. We will be back :)

We made a reservation here for Sunday brunch over a month and a half in advance to accommodate a large party of family members celebrating my wife’s grandmother’s 85th birthday. In an abundance of caution, we confirmed the reservation that morning. We arrived to find that they had seated the entire restaurant and that we would need to wait a substantial amount of time for our large party to be seated. We went to White Wolf Café instead and enjoyed a wonderful meal, with quick enough service for our family members to make their flight back home. Do not make reservations at Jacks. They will ignore them.

Located in Baldwin Park on New Broad St, this is a great place to stop off for lunch alfresco. Inside seating is nice, but there is a stellar selection of courtyard and street side outside seating to enjoy some people and dog watching while dining. Recent visit had friends and I enjoying various sammies. I had the blackened grouper, which was an EXCELLENT cut of grouper, seasoned well and cooked perfectly with remoulade on the side. This is my current fav grouper sandwich in the area. The truffle fries are thin, but not shoestring. They were cooked well, good truffle flavor, good salt– but not too salty, not greasy. House salad is also a great choice for a side or can be added on for just under $ 2. Friends enjoyed the grilled turkey club and pear and brie grilled cheese, both were enjoyed and there was not a truffle fry left on our collective plates. Service is prompt and friendly during weekday lunches. Jack’s is a good place if you are in a hurry, have some time, entertaining guests, power lunching or just enjoying a nice day with some friends. I’ve dined here for brunch, but enjoy the lunch menu and experience better.
