I didn’t think a chain store would have a page on Unilocal,so I was surprised when I stumbled upon this page. But I was even more surprised to see the current ratings and reviews. Silver Mine is AMAZING. It’s clean and quiet at most times of the day and night. It’s open extremely late. It’s a comfortable, relaxing spot to hang out. The meat is lean like Boar’s Head. The wheat bread is soft. The sandwiches are interesting. The Steam Engine is the best meatball sub available anywhere. The meatballs taste like they’re all beef. The marinara sauce is perfect. The sub is hearty because it also has mushrooms, green peppers and onions, plus provolone. The Caribou is my other go-to sub: turkey, double provolone, avocado, lettuce, tomato, sprouts, mayo. Wait, what’s this? SPROUTSANDAVOCADO?! Try asking for this at any other chain sub shop. Until seeing all these reviews, I’ve never equated Silver Mine to those other sub shops. I consider this to be a *sandwich restaurant*. They’ve crafted the subs for us, and we order and eat. Should be simple. Publix Subs, Subway, Firehouse, Quiznos, Jimmy Johns… they all have their respective customization advantages, I guess. But Silver Mine is a different kind of experience. To me, going to those other places is part of daily living in Orlando. Silver Mine is a special occasion.

Bland, minimal meat portions, overpriced. I definitely would not recommend going here. I don’t like Subway subs that much, but I’d much rather go to Subway than SIlver Mine. There are a couple of Jimmy John’s in the vicinity that offer much better subs and atmosphere as well. Firehouse Subs are great as well. I really have no idea how they manage to stay in business.

So mabye not the best subs in the world. But they’re good enough for me And in an area dominated by the late night munchies(it is ucf after all) this place hits right on the money. I know you’ve been partyin hardy and you drew the short«joint» on who was makin the food run, and truth be told your feelin a little«chill» right now so leaving the comfort of your dorm aint exactly what you have in mind. Do not fear Silver Mine is here. Open till 3 am for delivery. That’s pretty rightouse right there. I don’t care that the subs don’t compare to Firehouse and Jimmy Johns. They’re willing to bring food to your house at 3am. And when you’ve got the appetite of a starving hyena with tape worms, and no car. That counts for something. But if you do have wheels and want some flavor drive the extra half mile to Jimmy Johns. Don’t be lazy now. Two stars for the food and one bonus star for the service.

Just one notch up the pole from subway this sub shop offers a variety of hot and cold subs all which seemed to be made with mediocre ingredients. The service is what you’d expect, decent, not exceptional. My sub was also made well, and was not sloppy. It’s just the the ingredients and the bread itself lacked the kind of quality you can get else where. I had the Silver City which is Salami, Ham, Provolone, Lettuce, Tomato, Onion, Oil, Vinegar, Oregano, Mayo. One of my tomatoes was mushy and I had to check to make sure they put provolone on it because I couldn’t taste it. Quick and convenient for anyone in the area but lacks the quality and flavors that would make me come back again.

Either I’m always wasted when I come here or am completely unaware of my surroundings… seriously a drive through window? I am hoping for my sake that the previous reviewer was very much wrong. I mean it’s in the middle of a strip mall so the only drive through would be in the back, and I’ve been there… negative. Silver Mine, what can I say. You fall in between Subway and Firehouse for me. Subway’s greasy and sloppy subs just have that association with the name that will always draw their loyal followers, and with Firehouse and Jimmy Johns and their above and beyond flavor combination and perfect bread, it just seems that you unfairly fall unnoticed in between. I never really know where to look on the menu with the cold/hot subs considering so many places now just toast the sub if you so choose, making practically anything with the option of being hot. I mean it’s pretty good late night food, not something I’d opt for as a lunch choice but to hit up after Library or Dungeon Lounge when your entourage is hungry, it works! Kickers: Fresh toppings, good dressings, clean environment, delivers until like 3am. Fails: Not as good as it could be, location, a little pricier for not the same status in food. Diamondism: If you need food and are in this area(or want something delivered late night) then this is a good choice. You won’t be blown away by a phenomenal selection nor tainted by oily, greasy subs. It will leave you full but not quite thrilled to come back soon.

This is, without doubt, the grossest sub shop I’ve ever been to. I can’t believe I forgot to review it, because I wanted to warn people to not waste their money here. The subs taste terrible. I tried it once like 3 years ago, hated it, never came back, but then was given by someone a free sub coupon to go back. I had forgotten why I had hated it so much. I tried a ham and cheese sub. The ham was such a solid block that when I bit into it, it crawled out of the sub roll. The meats, toppings, and breads all tasted nasty. I hate to say this, but even subway is better than this place. Even for a free sub, it wasn’t worth it. I took 3 bites and threw the sub away. It was gross. Please save yourself and refrain from eating here. I’m genuinely concerned about strangers’ digestive systems.

I would say Silvermine is definitely better than some of those larger sub chains around town. However, if you are looking simply for a cheap sand which, you’d be better off with a $ 5 footlong, as these foot longs run a little over $ 7. They grill all their chicken and meats for hot subs right in front of you, which gives it a nice fresh taste. The Cripplecreek sub is my all time favorite, which comes with chicken, bacon, ranch, and all the toppings you’d like. It is a hot sub, and if you are looking for a cold sub, I usually go for the Georgetown. Silvermine’s building is nothing special at all, but it DOES have a drive through which is convenient for us lazy folk. It can get pretty busy for lunch during the week, so be prepared.
