Great atmosphere, third time here but first dining in the sushi side dining room. We were disappointed in the quality, and service. Food was cold, tasted bland and server made plenty of excuses about everything. Stick to the Hibachi side next time, much more enjoyable and entertaining.

Great chef entertainment! A joy to watch him cook. Delicious assortment of food, evenly paced. Large hibachi grills can accommodate big groups.

I would say our experience here was just fair. We called ahead for a table of 6 for the hibachi grill and still had to wait about 20 minutes to be seated on a Sunday night. Our waitress was very nice but pretty clueless. Our hibachi guy was even more clueless. It seemed to take forever for him to come out and even longer to cook our food. We also ordered a Sushi«beginner» plate, which was on the menu as an appetizer, but it actually didn’t come until our meal was nearly over. And our waitress apparently mistook our order, as we didn’t get what we wanted on the sushi plate, but her excuse was«We need to change that on the menu.» I was personally appalled to see that they made their fried rice with nothing but a pile of frozen peas, carrots and green beans. My husband got the filet and it was very tender and delicious. Otherwise the décor is very modern and the architecture of the building is interesting. But they have this wall of water in the lobby that every kid wants to touch, and does, and then we see the sign that says the water isn’t safe. As we were walking out a little girl was even trying to kiss the water. I’m sure there are better Japanese steakhouses in Daytona than this one.

I would go back. The food was pretty good, we ate the sushi. I could have been colder– but it was very fresh. But what made out experience great was our server. Junior is an excellent server. We were never left wanting and he was very friendly and funny. I would go back to just for him.

Great option for hibachi in the Daytona area. The ambiance was pleasant and the food did not disappoint. I dined in for hibachi, not sushi, and ordered the chicken filet combo. This entrée came with clear soup, salad, fried rice, and vegetables. Tip for the wise: the yum yum sauce is everything. Request it as salad dressing as a sub for the usual boring ginger.

No higher, should b e a bit lower… Fried rice dry, vegetables undercooked, steak very chewy. On the other hand, calamari steak, salmon roe were very good.

Ormond beach? I can’t believe a restaurant that is this nice is in Ormond Beach. The food was great, everything was hot, the waiter was very polite, our cook Mikey was awesome and very entertaining. The ambience was fantastic and even the lighting was impressive. The bathrooms look like they belong in a five-star hotel or restaurant. shame on me for never coming here before!!!

For this small town… the decoration of this restaurant is so unique. Must see! Waiting area for seating is very roomy. We ordered the Shaking beef with water crest /tomato salad and the beef was melting in my mouth! This was the chef’s special which was not on the menu. I am not so much of a raw food eater but OMG!!! I started with seared tuna top with avocado. The fine shredded carrot, ginger and a touch of Srirachi sauce in addition to Wasabi sauce made it perfect! Highly recommend! We also had Chirash Sushi which has assort of fishes. They are were so fresh and the food presentation is superb

I gave Takeya another shot, this time on the hibachi side, and I can say I’d go back again. The steak I had was amazing, and the service was great. It was also my birthday so I got a free dinner by coming with a large group.

Hibachi was awesome and the chef was on point. Sushi is not too bad either. A bit pricey for everything but worth it.

Being a loyal to Kobe Japanese in Orlando, I wasn’t to easily convinced that I wanted to give Takeya a try. As soon as I walked in, I noticed the place looked futuristic; though I was walking into a club down in Miami. Once seated at the hibachi station, I went straight for the sake menu. I was bummed to see what a poor selection of drinks; ended up going with the peach sake which was ok. The hibachi cook was professional and cooked everything to perfection. The rice had to be the best part of the meal; added the white sauce on top. Overall our visit was pleasant and nothing too crazy for prices. I will probably be back and give Takeya another visit on a special occasion. P. S. I overheard someone say the sushi isn’t great. Hibachi is the way to go!

Food and service was amazing! It was busy because of New Year’s Eve, but the waiters and waitresses more than made up for the fact that we had to wait almost 45 min for the table. We hung out by the bar, ordering drinks and sushi until they were able to seat us. Our waitress was AWESOME! Lindsay was super friendly and on the ball 100% of the time making sure we were taken care of during our entire meal.

We waited 50 mins to get seated after calling ahead 15 mins to get on the list. The food is the same as anywhere no different than any other hibachi. The building is unique and the décor is elegant and artistic. They give free dinner on your birthday with a party of six so lots of loud gong banging and singing. The server was prompt and checked in frequently.

Great sushi and hibachi… Keep in mind you have to travel 20 + miles to get this quality of sushi!

Have been going to Takeya since moving to Ormond Beach over 6 years ago and have always had an excellent experience. Service is impeccable, friendly, efficient and they really appreciate your business. Food is always top quality, served hot and with wonderful presentation. Although it is pricey, it is worth treating yourself and the family, especially on special occasions.

I don’t know if the quality went down or if I have just gotten higher standards, but MEH. I went there to please my son, and we all walked out thinking we won’t go back.
