Came into this store on a Saturday evening with my wife to look into a custom picture frame. The lady who asked to help(early 40’s, brownish blonde) first question for us was where is the picture. We responded with«we don’t have it, just wanted to see how this process works and get ideas». She then went on to talk to us like little children and tell us how ignorant it was to not bring the picture. My wife and I looked at each other and walked out, bewildered! Not sure if she was having a bad day or on drugs but I’ll never step in that store again!

The store is beautifully decorated and well stocked. Sadly, finding an employee on the sales floor proved to be frustrating and fruitless. We were looking for a few simple things and could have been in and out within ten minutes or less. We ended up being there for 25 minutes on our search. The seasonal displays were very nice and if they had been just a little less expensive I’m sure I’d have picked up an arrangement or two. Being mid-September there was a full selection of Halloween, Christmas, and New Years crafts available. Prices on most of the«raw» crafting materials was average. When I got to the checkout the associate asked if I found everything OK and I replied«No» she kindly said if I waited a few minutes while she rang those customers in line that she would be happy to show me. I looked at the five people behind me and assumed there would be more showing up so I said no thanks, finished the transaction, and left the store. A beautiful store with no employees is useless to me when I’m not familiar with the products or the layout. This could have easily been a five star experience but by the store cutting labor costs they are also cutting repeat business.

Gayle in the framing department was very helpful when I brought a jersey to be framed. My original intention was to purchase supplies and frame the jersey myself, and she told me what supplies I would need. Since this was going to be a gift, I didn’t want to screw this up, so I decided to ask about Michael’s costs to frame this. I brought my own shadowbox frame as well, and even though it was a bit dusty and bent, she worked with me on it instead of trying to aggressively upsell me on new glass or all of the framing components. The cost of supplies and labor was a little more than $ 50 since I brought my own frame(shadowbox frames for jerseys run around $ 100 at Michael’s). Framing a jersey is not cheap! I was really impressed with the customer service here compared to other Michael’s stores. When my mom and I walked into the store, an employee saw my mom struggling to carry the awkward and bulky frame, so he offered to help and carry it back to the framing department. When I picked up the frame, it looked great! I definitely recommend this Michael’s location for their framing department.
