I don’t think I’ve ever left a single star review before. I have visited this establishment 5 times. 3 of the 5 were unacceptable for the similar reasons. Just last night an associate and myself went for ‘taco special Monday’ We each ordered 3 tacos. After 27 minutes I was brought 2 of the 3 tacos, both Luke warm. We had been out of salsa for about half that time. We arrived at 4:50 pm. My erroneous thinking was that the half empty setting would help prevent prior issues I’ve experienced being there at say 6:00. I was wrong. I asked to see the manager as I had on one other occasion. Apparently«I apologize» or «I’m sorry» doesn’t fit with his way of addressing such issues. He returned with a hot and fresh correct order. I appreciated that as my associate was nearly finished. Sadly, a woman at an adjacent table endured a similar wait time and upon receiving her order I overheard her tell the waiter that she had no cheese on her tacos. His reply was«Do you want me to have them put cheese on them»? I received a ‘Manager’s Discount’ of approximately $ 2.80. I would have rather had an appropriate apology and some type of reassurance that the issues would be addressed.

This place was gross. I had the steak fajitas, which the waitress stated was sirloin. Well needless to say the meat looked like it was frozen and it tasted nothing like steak! Won’t return! I’d get a better Mexican dish from Walmart!

We have been coming here for years on and off because the food is so good. I am surprised at some of these reviews because we have never ordered anything we didn’t love. Cleanliness has never been an issue. It beats the heck of of MiRanchito in every way. Their salsa and chips are crispy and flavorful, especially the extra hot. Fantastic service, homey, consistently good food. Love their tacos and chicken and cheese enchiladas.

We had a slight uncomfortable confrontation with the«manager.» Also, the food, as other reviews state… is really nothing to write home about and fairly plain/lacking flavor. Skip it and head to a Mi Ranchito…

Reviews are all over the place. Here’s the deal. They’ve been around since 1987. It’s neighborhood Mexican. Americanized Mexican. Not Tex-Mex. It’s not the greatest Mexican you’ll ever have. It’s decent. All that said, I’ve never had a bad meal here. If I’m working and get a craving for Mexican food, I know I can satisfy it here. It’s not my first choice, but definitely not my last. Always fast and friendly service.

Trust the reviews. This place has been around for a while. It use to be good, now the service and food just lack.

Put in a corner and nearly forgotten about several times. Had to waive down the waitress any time we wanted anything. It was the blandest Mexican food I’ve ever had. Go to Fronteras instead. You won’t be disappointed.

We ate here last night. Our server was really nice but, she was really slow. The food was okay but not great. I have had some really good food here. On the tacos to be fairly bland. Their regular salsa but does not have a lot of flavor. When the regular salsa is mixed with their hot salsa and salt is pretty tasty. i’m not sure what else to say I guess their food is just hit and miss. Some of their food is pretty good and I was fairly bland.

Tequila Harry’s is a great place to grab a bite to eat and a margarita! It’s typical tex-mex, so nothing extraordinary. The atmosphere is great though — the servers are friendly and willing to engage with their tables. The owner is there almost every night, too, and greats everyone at the door. Definitely a great place to get a quick meal during the week, and on the weekends the gold margaritas are hard to beat!

Would give zero if possible. Worst Mexican I’ve had, probably ever. This is not an exaggeration. The«queso» is so bad that I actually scraped it off. I had a pork burrito… Not sure it was even pork. The whole meal had zero seasoning. It’s like they think if they put beans on it, it won’t need to be seasoned. The other two people I went with agree. We actually spent the whole meal talking about how much we hated it. And don’t get me started on the tomato juice that they call salsa. Avoid at all costs, even if it means skipping a meal entirely.

This restraunt is my least favorite Mexican stop. Our server was kind of rude and the salsa is bland. I feel like we were treated the way we were because we had 3 kids with us and didn’t want anything but water. Sorry we didn’t want your margarita special at 1pm on a weeknight with children present. Mediocre food. Gotta try everything once. Won’t be back.

Should have checked these reviews before coming. Ordered the tacos. They have absolutely no taste! They came on a very hot plate swimming in grease… The bottoms of my tacos gave out 2 minutes into the meal from trying to soak it up! No wonder they bring extra napkins. I don’t think the ground beef was drained or seasoned. One star for the very kind and attentive waitress.

Consistently good. Very good service always. So it falls 2 points short of KC’s best on the boulevard, Ponaks, Tequila Harry’s is nice, clean, comfy and friendly. The prices are right(thought I don’t care for the restriction on «no sharing» on some dishes) Great salsa and excellent light chips. You just can’t go wrong here. Clearly on of the best mexican places in South KC. you have to go to SW Blvd to do better. If they could only replicate Ponaks Marguaritas out south! I have eaten at Tequila Harry’s many times and never ever been disappointed.

Mediocre at best. Table felt dirty… Food was OK not that good. I had the Baja burrito. Wasn’t a burrito just folded tortilla on a plate. Chips were good but salsa bland and watery. A more appropriate name would be gringo tequila Harrys. Lacked allot of flavor too. I’m really pushing the rating at three stars here

For Cinco De Mayo, our club met at Harry’s for dinner. We had 10 people, so I showed up 30 minutes before the rest of our people to get our group on the list. I spoke to one of the owners and explained that we had 10 people coming at 7:00. I halfway expected a «We’ll seat you when we have room» reply, but instead he said he would try to seat us as close to 7:00 as possible. I was pleasantly surprised. At 7:05, I went inside to check on the progress and see how long he expected our wait to be. He pointed at a table with several ladies and said as soon as they left, that table would be ours. They already had their food in boxes and were chatting, so I didn’t expect the wait to be long, so I went back outside to report to our group. 7:20 rolled around and the owner came out and called us in. The ladies were still sitting at the table chatting away, so he seated us at a different table. I was upset that the ladies were so thoughtless to take up table space chatting for more than 20 minutes after they finished their meal while others waited to be seated. But I was impressed that the owner had adjusted to get us seated quickly after he realized the ladies weren’t going to budge. The server assigned to us was exceptional! She made sure we had chips, salsa, and that our drinks were topped off during the whole meal. Although she was very busy(with other tables as well as ours), she was patient with two of our older members who don’t hear well in loud situations and found parts of the menu confusing. I had the Navajo Taco and my wife had the Beef Taco Salad. Both of our meals were very good, and everyone else in our group reported that their meals were good as well. I am always glad to support local business owners when I can. I am happy to support Tequila Harry’s. They make it easy to support them with their great food, great service, and helpful attitudes!

Get the Nachos with Beef– enough to savor and take some home to the hungry teens at home. Good place and atmosphere. If you want it spicey, you have to let them know.

I grew up close to Tequila Harry’s and it is phenomenal. If you aren’t super hungry you can order off the A la Carte portion of the menu(it’s on the back side of the menu) and you can get a single Taco, Enchilada, Burrito, etc PLUS beans and rice all for around $ 5 or less!!! I HIGHLYHIGHLY advise trying their hamburger too! I know, I know… it sounds crazy to order a friggin’ hamburger at a Mexican joint… but TRUSTME, you will NOT be disappointed. Their dessert is super tasty as well. Sopapilla!

It wasn’t great, it wasn’t bad, it just was. Chips are just standard chips which is sad because they have a decent flavored, although a little runny, salsa that deserves a better chip. The beef is lacking seasoning, but it was a good ground beef and didn’t seem to be full of fillers. The beans were standard out of a can beans, nothing special. They have good specials through the week. A small selection on tap and drink specials. The service is good, not super friendly, but just the right amount of attentiveness. With all the Mexican selections in the area, this isn’t somewhere I would rush to, but I wouldn’t rule it out if someone wanted to meet up there.

Now that I live in the area, Tequila Harry’s has become the go-to watering hole to meet a friend for a casual evening out. The food is consistently good, well-prepared, and the nightly specials are generally appealing — burger Tuesday, fajita Wednesday. The bar can get pretty crowded when there’s a ball game on, but otherwise, we like to sit at the bar & eat, because all of the tenders are friendly, cool people. The salsa seems to be just a little bit different every time… which is not a bad thing because they are making it fresh. Some days it seems to be hotter than others, though :-)

Visited for lunch with a few coworkers. The place was very crowded and loud, which doesn’t scare me off so as long as the wait isn’t too long. We were seated immediately but then it took a long time for the server to come and take our orders. I ordered a chicken chimichanga as I didn’t see anything else on the menu that caught my fancy. As soon as the table next to us started to have their food appear I instantly regretted not having ordered the taco salad. It was really well presented and every single person at the other table had ordered it… must be good! My chimichanga was bathed in hot cheddar cheese sauce. Interesting. I won’t lie and say I didn’t like it(because it was delicious) but it didn’t satisfy that Mexican food craving I had either. The salsa that is served with the chips is so bland that I was adding salt and pepper to it just to give some sort of zip. No cilantro to be found anywhere. I asked for a glass of Horchata(a wonderful cinnamon rice milk drink) and was told by the server they don’t offer it. I’m giving this place 3 stars because the food was tasty, but please, don’t be fooled into this is anything more than really really americanized mexican food.
