Hook Burger

Food is good. Service is hit and miss. Today, I ordered my food. Got there within the 20 minutes. Asked if it was ready and was told not yet. Waited another 10 minutes. Went up again and was told it had been ready. The food had been sitting there for 25 minutes.
Update: on the same day I Unilocaled, received a message from the owner apologizing for my experience & wanting to correct it. Thank you for caring about your customers. Will definitely try Hook again.

Very neat place to grab a burger. Love the interior. Warm friendly faces greeting us, offering menus.
The California burger is especially delicious. Fresh looking n perfect. My BF said his hickory burger reminds him of camping… Good thing, I guess. The trio appetizer consists of regular fries, sweet potato fries n great big crispy onion rings.
Basically, you order at the register (left side upon entering) n they give you a locater so you can sit anywhere you like. They’ve nice booths, high tables n patio area. Fountain sodas and iced teas are refillable, there are servers to help you with that… You gotta flag em down when they pass cuz they don’t check on your table after food’s been dropped off.
Not sure what the tipping protocol is, but I think you should tip regardless, even if it’s just 10−15%. But give it to the server, don’t leave on table.
Easy parking. Great place.

We stopped by at Hook burger for lunch on our way from LA. It was Monday, around noon. The place was busy, but we received our food very quickly. It was delicious!
Stuff was very friendly and helpful. Manager himself was helping as well.
Many places with the same quality of food and service will charge at least 50% more

Sooo I almost gave this place 5 stars but they changed the menu a little while ago and took my bistro burger off, which was my go to. If they hadn’t of done that I never would have found out about there sandwiches and salads. There grilled chicken sandwich melted in my mouth and I couldn’t stop eating it. I think its the perfectly toasted sourdough buttered bread that just adds that crunch to every bite. If that didn’t make your mouth water than maybe you should check your pulse. The salads were also really impressive. Imagine a 5 star quality plated salad, that’s exactly what I got when I ordered the BBQ Chicken Ranch salad. Layered and topped to perfection and garnished with crispy little strings of tortilla chips. Eat bite was loaded with flavor. I want to say it doesn’t come with avocado? If not I definitely added it!
If your into Paleo, they have a bunless option for all their burgers. Let’s just say it’s so good I still haven’t had a burger with a bun from here. Add an extra patty to keep you fuller longer for only $ 1.50; take that Burger King.

Hook makes a really good hamburger and I get you pay for quality, but I don’t require much from a hamburger. Avocado compliments a burger really well, but I can do without it sometimes. I get the same satisfaction after eating In & Out or the Habit and feel better that I spent half the amount for the same meal at either of those two.
If you need more reasons to go, the service I received was excellent and beer is available on tap. I find an IPA pairs well with a burger. They offer a lot more than just burgers as well. The steak sandwich with cheese and grilled onions was a choice that surprised me. The servers are always on their feet checking on table to table asking if they need condiments/​refills etc.
I suppose it’s a place you should try once. The food might «hook» you in and become a favorite spot of yours, but there are a couple of other options I can easily think of that are equally good and inexpensive.

Wow, somehow I had forgotten to finish this review. This was a really fabulous experience and a great find, for us.
If you love burgers, you will find a great selection here. And the beer? Just as good. Perhaps not a selection like some of the bigger places around but still good stuff to compliment your dining experience.
We had the Hickory burger and roasted chili burger. Both of which were served to our specifications. So delish!
Service was excellent. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and added to the overall experience we had here. Can’t wait to return!

They should call this place HOOKED UP Burger. After seeing Jose O.‘s video of the massive burger, I bookmarked HB and waited till we were in Camarillo for a Soccer Tournament. After eschewing the close to the Holiday Inn sports bar next door, a dozen of us headed to HB after looking at some convincing pictures with a find something to please everyone menu, affordable prices.
The restaurant has a clean, new and modern look. One of the employees opened the door for us and gave us menus. You order at the counter then they deliver to your table. The food came out fast, the beer and wine came out slow. They had a very decent selection of quality craft brews in the $ 5 – 6 range. Wine was $ 7 with one of our favorites Brander. The burgers start at $ 6 and add a patty fro $ 1.50 more, love that. I went with the hickory which was mounded high with bacon. It was about six –eight inches high. Thick patties and bun. Bun is a little too big but freshly made. The wife went Turkey with add avocado +$ 1. Chicken Tenders for the kid with fries and drink for $ 6, super fair. The trio has fries, sweet potatoes and onion rings, but the Rings are the standout so skip the others. Fries were real honest potatoes that tasted fresh and clean.
The service was non stop and over the top. Clear your plates, refills, can I get you anything else etc all night long. Everyone was happy with this one.

Came in tonight for dinner and had a great experience. My niece and I shared the hickory burger and bbq chicken salad. My sister had the chicken sandwich. We also shared an order of fries and sweet potato fries.
I was so hungry I scarfed down my burger. Every bite was mind blowing. Seriously. I even ate half of my niece’s share. She didn’t mind.
The salad was one of the best things I’ve eaten in a while. Not just salad wise, but food wise. I don’t even know what was in there. I just shoved it all in my mouth. My niece and sister couldn’t stop saying how bomb it was.
Hats off to the staff. There was something about tonight’s team. They were on point. From the moment we walked in to when we left, every single person was just perfect. There’s really no other word to put it. Perfect is it. They were just the right amount of everything. Friendly… check. Helpful… check. Accomodating… check. Everyone had a smile on their face and when you asked for something, they were on it. I left wanting to be friends with them. That’s how awesome they were.
Side note. I fully appreciate how clean this place is always kept. It’s always the first thing I notice when I eat out. How tidy a place is. HB is always clean, even outside and everything is as it should be. I wish other establishments would take a page from their book. I want to kind of bring together all the managers from the places in the county where I’ve dined and had a horrible experience and make them see where they’re lacking. Come in here for a meal and find out the proper way to treat your customers. So kudos to the managers and staff of Hook Burger for doing it right.
