AMAZING! From entering this beautiful restaurant and being greeted by wonderful staff it is the BEST in PS. The service(Louis and Josi) are a team. Started with a beet salad with toasted cumin, bacon wrapped pork tenderloin and finished with lime pie. The wine list is superb. Love the incredible space and design. Can’t wait to return. It is a MUST.

Eight4Nine is one of those awesome new gems in Palm Springs that looks totally intimidating from the outside but also super inviting. Everything is contemporary and accented with white, so it looks clean and cool. Nothing we had here was short of fantastic, and they were great for our group of 10. The cocktails are STRONG but delicious. I had one of the Eight4Nine’s which had muddled strawberries in it, and was heavily buzzed. For appetizers, we had the Shoyu Pork Belly, the Ahi Tuna Poke, Charred Octopus, and the Mushroom Toast. My favorite was the pork belly, but the rest of the group loved the octopus. The New York Steak was cooked perfectly and the truffled potato planks it came with were delicious. The Mesquite Carne Asada was also really good. For desserts, you can’t go wrong with the Baked Alaska. We also tried the Peanut Butter Nanaimo bar, but it was pretty heavy and I probably wouldn’t get it again. All in all, really awesome place & I’ll definitely be back!

Too bad this new spot is not good. We love to try everything and sadly won’t be back. The place looks cool and clearly a lot of money was spent however not on the menu. At the end of the day it’s about the food, right? Service was ok, bar tender got my drink incorrect and knew it but didn’t say anything until I did. The drink was fine a peach mock tail but I ordered blue berry, very different. We also ordered the charcuterie plate and it took 30 mins … It was odd as if the order was never put in. Completely unimpressed when it arrived. Honestly worst plate ever. We planned for dinner but left after this and reviewing a menu we were not feeling. We were concerned we’d not like rest. There’s so many great places to eat around town, this did not get added to our list of favs.

Came here for the Christmas Day fix priced menu. A great selection to choose from at a very respectable $ 58 per person. The atmosphere was excellent — nice mixed mature crowd. Friendly staff and the owner meeting and greeting each table to wish us a Merry Christmas. Other guests were friendly and enjoying themselves — some tables even visiting with neighboring strangers all in the holiday spirit. Valet was ready and friendly. Every staff member upon entering was working and greeting customers. We were escorted to our table and immediately offered a drink. Service is fast. Our host/hostess were both eager to make sure we were taken care of. Our busboy was cheerful and sweet. Our waiter Alvaro was a perfect specimen — of talent. He made each guest feel special and tended to. He’s a charmer. Attentive service. The first course was small — but just enough to get things started. We both had soups –mine was the pumpkin and it was delicious.(Lots of honey — just the way I like it) Tried the fried Chicken livers and crab cakes and. Both were fresh and tasty. Main course was the bacon wrapped tenderloin. I had traditional turkey with all the trimmings. Stephen polished off the pork loin but the amount of food on my plate was too much.(a year ago I would have finished it. It was all so good. And the the pecan pumpkin tart arrived with fresh crème fresh. All throughout the meal the attentive waitstaff checked in on us. Which was great. Even though we opted not to have adult beverages and stuck with just tap, water, it was served and refilled as if it were champagne. Never once did I feel the hard pressure sales pitch to buy a cocktail. They truly respected our limits. Over all, it was a much more enjoyable Christmas dinner than I had expected in a restaurant. It was like sharing dinner in a big loving home with everyone being festive and friendly. I hope the same energy flows beyond the holidays. The staff really made this experience the best. I know it’s hard to find your best staff members to work these holidays but these kids worked their butts off.

Only reason I gave 1 star was for the appetizer I had. First off, the place looks really cool and hip. Lots of colorful artwork and young attractive people working here. That’s the good. The bad– the dinner. I’m not good at bad reviews but this meal was really off. I will say we sat within a reasonable time for our reservation. We had ordered a few martinis for our group at the bar. When they came to take us to our table, nobody offered to help our wives with their drinks(not the end of the world). We sat and ordered several appetizers. The ahi tuna tartare was very solid. The salad was really bad my wife ordered. The New York steak I ordered which was recommended had no flavor at all. The 4 fries they sat the steak on were mushy. My wife ordered the fried chicken our waiter said was amazing. This was so bad I’m not sure where to start. I really wish I had spoken to the manager but the four of us were best tired and wanted to go back to hotel and crash out.

Wow wow wowie! I haven’t been this impressed with a restaurant in a long time. Everything was a pro(zero cons). From the moment we walked in and greeted so warmly to extremely friendly staff and excellent service. The décor is so strikingly unique and fun. It almost feels like an all white and hot pink mad hatter tea party but with incredible food. All the furniture(including a small coat track at every table) is sparkling white and mismatched with hot pink accents. The food was phenomenal. I had fried chicken and it was probably the best fried chicken I have ever had. My dinning buddies had a mexican dish and the other had duck breast. Everything was great.

Came here for brunch with a friend. We were both impressed at how the place is decorated — although also a bit disappointed that the main dining area /corridor didn’t have any windows. Guess this doesn’t matter as much for dinner, but as we were there for brunch on a cloudy day, we wanted to be close to at least some natural light — which the bar area provided. The interior is reason alone to check this place out, and I imagine during the evenings, the color scheme(predominantly white, with very bright accent colors) and unique furnishings must really make the place pop. The brunch food was decent — but nothing that I was completed wowed by(although, to be fair, the interior itself provided enough of the wow factor). We split the egg white frittata and strawberry french toast, which were both good. Service was also good. I’d definitely come back for dinner.

I have never seen a restaurant interior like this! Amazing décor. Service was terrific with waiters(emphasis on the waiters) actually proving useful opinions on menu throughout. The four course for $ 44 is a heck of a deal. Although the first course is just a sample size, the other three dishes appear to be menu sized. Too much food in the end, but would do it again. The dishes(and their sauces) tended to be a bit sweet and the cocktails are more like punches(but at respectable prices — be careful, more alcohol than you think). So some small flaws, but best meal — and certainly best experience — while we were in Palm Springs. I will dream about the ahi tuna poke.

Eight4Nine, is both a place and an address number to one of Palm Springs newer restaurants and lounges. It is firmly set up along Palm Canyon Drive in the growing design district. The first thing that stands out at Eight4Nine is the pink décor! You will definitely feel like you have been transported to a tropical and fancy oasis on your visit here. The lounge offers an open space to linger for hours with drinks or for brunch and and the restaurant dining rooms provide intimate alcoves(designed of inset open china cabinets) providing a unique dining environment. We stopped in between activities one day for cocktails, a couple appetizers and a dessert to share! My order included the; Blueberry Mockjito(Delicious, highly recommended non-alcoholic beverage). Smoked Castroville Artichoke with Paprika Aioli(More difficult to find on menus, so when I see it I order it). Lemon and Lavendar Baked Alaska(A rare dessert offering… this was the highlight… the fireside lighting at the table and the wonderful flavor is a must have experience)! Really cool; Bag stand provided to everyone seated with a bag(Brought over right as we sat down). Stunning bathrooms(Probably the finest in the desert). Private rooms(Great for parties, bachelorette parties, baby showers, etc) Not so cool; Unable to make alcoholic beverage from a mock beverage(I would probably experiment with this)! You can’t be in a hurry(this could be good or bad depending on who you are and what plans you may have…). Food mix-ups(and other service conundrums). It’s worth a try on your desert getaway but you will have plenty of time to think pink! Keep it positive! #ThinkPink #YesBarbie #NoPeptoBismol

Service from the start top notch. Warm, accommodating and friendly. Owner came by to check on things which is appreciated! Starting off with an delish beet salad with a side of whipped goat cheese beautifully presented on the side in a phyllo dough bowl. Loved the seasonal root veggies — the sauce was superb. Pork tenderloin wrapped in bacon placed in a butternut squash purée with a side of baked apple was YUM! The presentations of everything was beautiful and appetizing. The food that went by for other tables we drooled over as well — unfortunately we did not allow room for dessert. The wide variety of choices sounded quite appealing. There was a bar with bar menu different from the main restaurant — Loved the eclectic décor– random lamps, whites, pinks– it just works!!!

Wow!!! Truly… WOW!!! The Hubzz and I came here after this beautiful restaurant opened the week prior. We love supporting local restaurants and chefs. Let me tell you… make a reservation, and go! Because after all of the great reviews this place is going to get, you aren’t going to be able to get it. First– The Service: From the hostess staff, to the«assistant waiter», to the waitstaff, and then the wonderful owner himself… everyone was on their A Game! Super friendly, very attentive(yet not overboard). The assistant waiter, Caesar, was very on top of everything, knowing exactly our needs were before we could even ask for anything. Ozzie, our waiter… friendly, fun, and very knowledgeable with the menu. And Willie… thank you for coming over to introduce yourself. Your pride in your restaurant greatly shows… and is well deserved. It’s all in the details Next– The Décor: Fun– Crisp– and very Alice in Wonderland-esque. You are immediately drawn to all of the fabulous pieces they have throughout the spaces… like the 6 foot tall white hookah in a painted black room. Open glass shelving line the dining room, filled with stacks of mixes white places settings(there was a stack of some fabulous wide bowls that I would love to get my hands on). The ceiling is lined with a mixed collection of various chandeliers and the crisp white tables and random chair designs are given a pop with fuchsia upholstery and fresh single cut flowers on each table. It’s all in the details. Now– The Food: For and opener, I had the Gazpacho Consommé– presented as 3 slices of heirloom tomatoes lining the bottom with a lovely scoop of cucumber lime granita, perfected by the hand poured tomato and pepper chilled broth. DELISH! Perfect for those summer night. The Hubzz started with the Charred Octopus– perfectly charred yet tender, generously portioned, with large slices of Spanish chorizo and an exquisite farm egg. This could be a meal in itself! Ah… mazing! Next– Salmon Nicoise for me and the Bacon-wrapped Pork Tenderloin for The Hubzz. The salad could feed 4 people(no joke). If you are going with a group of girls, share. share…share! Generous amount of smoke salmon accompanied by haricots vert, fingerling potatoes(that could have been cooked a bit longer), and a beautiful mound of kalamata olives. Just lovely! The Hubzz was blown away by his dish. The side of spinach and corn pudding along with the grilled peach took him to places I’ve never seen. The pork tenderloin was cooked to perfection… and he’s picky about his pork. We finished with desert(after I boxed up ¾ of my salad). We shared the Olive Oil Cake with Blackberry and Champagne Sabayon. Again… mind blowing. The hints of lemon took it over the edge. This place is all about the details, and the details are definitely what makes Eight4Nine stand out from the rest. We will be back… and you can guarantee we will be telling others. TIP: This restaurant is on everyone’s «Top Restaurant» list for a reason! Go… and enjoy!

Nice dinner(4 stars): see photos. Made our reservations through Open Table and got our table with no wait time. The lounge and dining rooms were packed, and it was a chatty and boisterous night. It was lively with lots of people walking about, many were obviously not locals, but nice to see out of towners enjoying the evening. The menu is online, and I knew my options before coming, so I went for the 4 plate dinner: chef’s salad, mushrooms and Brussels Sprouts on toast, New York steak medium with potatoes and carrots, and the bread pudding for dessert. I had a glass of Michael David Cabernet with dinner, and a nice glass of Tokaji with dessert. Overall it was a nice meal, a large portion on the entrees, and couldn’t finish all the carrots and potatoes because I knew the bread pudding was coming. Our server was nice, and there was enough lag time between plates to try to carry on a conversation, though it was a bit loud. A lady next to us got up, obviously had too much to drink, and tipped over the table and two glasses fell to the ground. Not sure if she was aware, but went on to the ladies room. There were 3 or 4 attendants cleaning and picking up the broken pieces. The gentleman seated was not happy. But everything was cleaned within minutes. The lady came back after what seemed like forever, and I prayed that she wasn’t driving anywhere. Minor drama at the table, or one might call entertainment, and they proceeded to exit. There was valet service, but street parking was convenient. This was my second time, and I definitely would come back.

This restaurant was absolutely delicious as well as well designed. It has a very whimsical approach to the décor but is anchored down with the color white. I went here with my boyfriend and we both had the 5 course meal. The pork belly was delicious as well as the bread pudding at the end. Our waiter was very attentive and never missed a beat on giving us a our next course. I will definitely be back to try more of their dishes when I return!

I agree with Mark C. who said“The place is cool and looks to be THE place to be seen. But once you break it down, it’s all just kinda mediocre. « We sat outside because we were a table of 10. We had one of the waiters who got accolades below. They brought out heaters and assured us we;d be «Toasty». We were, until the highly acclaimed waiter let the propane in the heaters run down, then out, then couldn’t relight them. He also promised freshly baked bread«in a few minutes — just coming out of the oven» — we asked for them after we had all eaten(about 20 mins lter)… and got 6 rolls, that certainly weren’t that fresh. Food was very good, for the most part, not excellent. Service kinda spoiled most of the good vibe we got from the food. Situation where your«mileage may vary» depending on the waiter/ress… Overall, not memorable

We had an unpleasant brunch at Eight4Nine Restaurant and Lounge. We ordered the(a) dumplings with eggs in a bacon broth and(b) carne asada and eggs. Service was slow. (a) The dumplings were balls of cornmeal, unseasoned and flavorless. The bacon broth had hints of bacon, but had no body or depth. It was essentially salty, brown water. The two eggs came sunny side up. The broth also featured some sort of wilted chard. Generally, the dish was disgusting. (b) The carne asada and eggs was a better plate. It had flavor and was nicely presented, but the steak was over cooked. Eggs were prepared to order, but someone in the kitchen and/or waitstaff had no idea what«sunny side up» meant. First, the eggs came out over hard. Then, after reminding the server that we ordered eggs sunny side up, he brought us a new set of eggs, which were cooked over easy. We did not complain or point out his/the kitchen’s error. Given the poor quality of food, slow service, and unknowledgeable staff, we strongly recommend against brunching at Eight4Nine.

«Now if a six turn out to be nine, well I don’t mind» — Jimi Hendrix For some reason, when my wife decided on going here for her birthday dinner, that old song title flashed through my mind. I’m glad she selected Eight4nine, because we had the best meal of our Palm Springs trip here. The interior of the restaurant is gorgeous. We sat in the right dining room — decorated in all sorts of reds and pinks and whites. I saw the left dining room had a black and white theme –both were quite stunning. There were ten ceiling lights in the red dining room, and they were all different! Service was excellent– prompt, attentive, and polite. I got a kick out of the guy walking around with a pepper mill that was as big as a bassoon. I started with a Kentucky Tiki cocktail($ 12), a delicious drink with Maker’s Mark Bourbon, rum, lime, crème de banana and almond syrup. A great way to start our meal. I ordered the Charred Octopus appetizer($ 16) and it was a home run! It paired chorizo and a fried egg with a really good sized portion of octopus served with olive oil and balsamic. It was excellent. I went the vegetarian route for dinner and chose the Caramelized Cauliflower Pappardelle($ 18). This dish was perfect– it featured some perfect wide pappardelle noodles with a ragout of sherry, mushrooms, and parmigiano cheese. It was so rich and decadent! Dessert was Lemon and Lavendar Baked Alaska served with coffee. The flaming Baked Alaska was excellent! For a special occasion dinner, we could not have made a better choice.

How lucky I was to have this place on my short list of «must do» ‘s for Palm Springs. The staff was so friendly and knowledgeable! West the bartender is a definite asset to this bar. He made me his legendary Mai Tai, learned in Hawaii, and it was great! So I had to stick around for the rest of the show. Bloody Mary mix — house made, with bits of wasabi floating about = yum. Brunch mimosa — Spanish bubbly, violet liqueur, and no juice?(according to bar back) Cocktail and beer glasses — kept in the cooler! 7 Scotches, 12 vodkas, more tequilas = I think we’re in the desert. And check out their website or menu for the $ 9 happy hours. The food was a tough decision. Yes, it was brunch. But I opted for something«lunchy» from the bar apps. Shrimp/Chorizo sliders! I also had a side of garlic fries that were highly addicting. The rest of the menu looked amazing. From the Cobb salad to the bacon wrapped pork tenderloin — yum! Oh and I saw the lobster roll, which here it is really a lobster«pocket» in Texas toast… mmmm, daydreaming about that. And the presentation of all was impeccable. I may have to come back just to eat dinner here. Well, and sample more cocktails. Let’s not forget the surroundings. The décor is fantastic! White, with splashes of color and fantastic works of photography scattered throughout. Plenty of room for large groups and intimate tables as well. And the hostess, the hostess… how can I not mention the hostess? She was a vision in a sexy green dress. ;) Cheers!

The place is cool and looks to be THE place to be seen. Heck, John Barrowman(Torchwood) was at the next table… But once you break it down, it’s all just kinda mediocre. Drink menu was good and great wine list. After that, it’s mostly downhill. I had the 4 courses. My first course was a «1st Impression». This being a type of shrimp salad with about 3 or 4 tiny shrimp and a bunch of mixed greens. It comes with a citrus purée u either drink as a shot or pour it on the salad. I found it necessary to use on the plate but way too many mixed greens. So eh, not a great first impression. Next was the Pear salad. Very good … Best of the courses. Flavorful, but it’s just. a salad so… My main course was the big disappointment… A lobster carbonara… The pasta was overcooked and the whole thing lacked flavor… Except when bacon made it into the bite. How much can seasoning cost? I read previous reviews where the pasta was undercooked so the«chef» must have overcompensated on my dish… Final course was a s’more fondue style dessert. OK. But not worth the effort I had to put in. The server was definitely new to all this… I mean serving in general. Very friendly, but he is not ready for the big leagues… We had to even tell him about how to twist the bottle when completing his wine glass pours to prevent spillage. And for a bill of $ 86 a piece, he should have been a bit more in the know or had been shadowing someone who was. Come on Management, you only get one first impression so do it right. Lots and lots of places to pick, but this one seems trendy at best right now and not worth the price.
