Fabulous brunch experience, had the 3 egg breakfast. Great ingredients, quality on point, sat outside very nice vibes, love it!

I was really looking forward to lunch with our friends at Jakes. However, we received a brunch menu on Saturday at almost 1 pm, the furniture was plastic and there is only one co-Ed bathroom. Service was really slow, I had to actually go to the bartender to get someone to wait on us and we had reservations. On the plus side the food was ok.

Absolutely perfect place for brunch! Great homemade Bloody Mary’s and the most amazing Croque Benedict! The atmosphere was amazing and the service was impeccable! We play golf in Palm Springs, so we will definitely be back for brunch next time we’re out this way :)

This«breakfast» place doesn’t even have potatoes. Everything on their menu is just a pile of bread.

During our meal, my friend wrote a Unilocal review complaining that they don’t have potatoes here(she has allergies and they didn’t have anything she could eat). A manager or owner came up to us and yelled at me for writing said review and they brought us our check right away. It was very weird and most management would have tried to rectify the situation. The drinks were fine but the food was abysmal. I would not have reviewed it at all but the elderly gentleman that owns this place and hates potatoes, yelled at me, and called me rude.

Decent food, but rude host. Was only there an hour when he asked us to leave to make room for another group. This was at 9:30pm. Never again. We now go to other places like eightfournine and trios. They know how to treat guests.

Restaurant alley on Palm Canyon has more places at which you you could eat in a month. Jake’s, however, has been established a long time. The bloom is off the rose. My experience was a mixed bag of pretty good and not so good. Part of me feels concerned that I’ll be letting down a nice friend given the fact that the owner and our server did ask how everything was going. It went okay, just fine. But this is Unilocal, and I gotta tell it like it is! Let’s start with the positives. You’ll feel like you’re eating at someone’s house here. The fare is large portion comfort food. Two of us ordered the 3 course Prix fixe at $ 33.50, and perhaps that was a mistake. My cream of mushroom soup of the day with pancetta was the best dish of the night. Rich, creamy with a delicious umame, I could have had more. But then again, this was cream based, and what’s not to like about that? One dining partner raved about his filet mignon, so that’s a safe bet. I also enjoyed the homey three layer cake for dessert. If I had to guess, it seems their cakes are signature desserts. No less than 8 choices are offered and kept on display. So tempting, I had to get up while I was waiting for my food to arrive to ogle them in their Fred Flintstone sized glory. While my white chocolate raspberry cake was very good – dangerous and hard to stop eating, my dining partner wished he’d ordered a double chocolate chocolate cake. On recommendation from our server, he got the chocolate brownie cake with white frosting. He mentioned it seemed not as fresh as my choice. Now on to the not so good. We made reservations the afternoon of our dinner and were told we couldn’t get in before 9:30pm. This was a little late for me, but we had a late lunch so we rolled with it. Arriving about 15 minutes early, we were greeted with an open air of 10 or so tables, of which four or five were empty. I would have loved to have eaten earlier. Again on the recommendation of my server, I chose the house special Chicken Milanese over the salmon. Two chicken breasts comprised the dish, but I felt them to be not pounded thin enough for my taste, with not quite enough breading nor delicious lemon buerre blanc. Plus, the breasts were slightly overcooked. They were also served over heavy mashed potatoes which I didn’t finish. Misterkevin tell tale sign: if I don’t eat everything on my plate, something’s wrong! The arugula salad over the top was a nice touch, however. Where I was really underwhelmed was the service and the atmosphere. The restaurant is furnished with modern plastic patio furniture. The service was just a bit slow and certainly not trained for a fine dining experience. Our food was delivered to the table and we were asked who had the filet, the chicken, the meatloaf? Dishes were served from one spot with arms crossing in front of my face. When our table was bussed, the servers once again crossed their arms in front of my face while stacking the dishes on the table. Here’s the thing: price wise this seems to want to be a nicer establishment, after lunch up the road, this place just didn’t compare. On the bright side, my Prix fixe dinner was a few dollars cheaper than ordering these same items a’la carte. I wanted to like it more. Overall it’s good, but not great in my book.

Wonderful food and setting but the team service didn’t work. Our table was forgotten or missed at every turn. A frustrating experience though noted it was lunch of New Year’s Eve. I would go back for dessert or a drink and maybe a meal if I were seated next to the server station. Desserts rock.

Kudos for offering virgin drink options and being dog friendly! Pomegranate Sparklers were refreshing I love how so many restaurants in Palm Springs, including Jake’s, have misters — I need these back home, longing to be misted Crab BLT do get this! It was my favorite between this and Chicken Milanes sandwich– thank you Mark for this excellent recommendation The owner approached us near the end of our meal to make sure we were satisfied — nice to see him out in the middle of his restaurant ensuring his clientele have a nice visit

It’s good enough they certainly have an interesting menu, but I don’t know why everybody’s getting this place four and five stars. The service is a little slow, the portions are not that enormous as everyone is saying and some of the flavors are good but not fantastic. Ordered the Monte Cubano which is supposed to be a mix of a Montecristo and a Cuban sandwich. They used extremely dry roast turkey instead of pork and the brioche bread was really more of an egg bread and did not have the characteristic richness of a brioche. The Dijon aïoli was splattered all over the sandwich — just too much of it. Between the ham and the turkey it was hard to bite through the sandwich as neither meat was tender. The Swiss cheese saved it but I would give that sandwich two stars at most. It also needed more seasoning on the meats themselves. The torta chilaquiles was definitely the better of the two dishes ordered. It is an interesting presentation to use large crisp tortillas instead of tortilla chips to make this dish. All of the components tasted good on their own and together. We ordered the BLT Bloody Mary and it was fairly atrocious. The best part were the garnishes on top of the drink — a small piece of cooked bacon, a small piece of toasted bread and a tomato. Other than that the bloody mary mix was way too sour and the drink was completely off-balance. It tasted like it did not have enough tomato flavor and had just too much acid. We added almost an entire packet of sweetener to try to bring it to a tolerable level that could be consumed. We probably should’ve returned it.

Unfortunately, this review can not comment on the food but the rude manner in which we were treated. We arrived to Jake’s at the referral of our hotel. It was 9:45pm on a Saturday night and all we wanted was a few cocktails and dessert. Upon arrival, the very sweet hostess sat us at a table for two. We were approached by the waiter and ordered two Irish coffees while we decided on what desserts to order. The other diners were on their desserts and they had several open tables. Clearly the restaurant was starting to slow down at that time. After ten minutes, we were approached by a grey haired gentleman who informed us, «We don’t serve just desserts at the tables. You will have to sit at the bar for that.» Let me say, I travel all over the world and am a foodie. In all my years, I have never been so offended by how a situation was handled. If he had come over and said something like, «I’m so sorry but the hostess is new and didn’t ask if you were having dinner or not before seating you. Because we are small we try and keep the table open for people who want dinner. «I might have been okay or at least not offended. But don’t have a waiter come, get our drink orders, leave us there for 10 minutes THEN come tell us that, especially at 10:00pm!!! RUDE, RUDE, RUDE. The bright side… we found an amazing restaurant two doors down that was cozy and was more than happy to serve us dessert and cocktails to boot! Get a change in attitude boys. reputations take years to build and sometimes minutes to destroy.

We came here for brunch. The service was ok. My lobster roll was awesome. My son’s waffle looked beautiful but he didn’t eat much. My husband got chilaquiles, he told me that his food was just ok. I like the environment of the restaurant because it looks colorful and comfortable.

On Opentable it asked if we wanted to sit indoors or outdoors. Definitely indoors. Very dim lighting in the front dining room. Fortunately for the smartphone flashlight. On the way to the dining room we passed two display cases of three layered cakes. Yummy looking. The six of us decided to go with the 3 course dinner — soup or salad, entrée, and dessert for $ 32.50. And the three layered cake valued at $ 9.00 was dessert! Five of us went with the meatloaf, and the sixth went with the chicken Milanese. The meatloaf was shaped like a hamburger patty. Came with truffle oil Mac cheese. Very good. I ate half of my dinner and the other half the next day. I selected the baby gem salad which was almost a meal in itself. I had the Myers lemon cake with buttercream frost for dessert. Just ate a third and took the rest home. My leftovers was just as good the next day. Our server was loud and funny.

We made reservations at Jake’s after hearing such good things about this place. We were seated on the great patio at a nice, private table. Our server was dynamic and really set the tone for a great visit. I enjoyed the meatloaf with truffle mac and cheese and asparagus — yummy! I highly recommend this place and make sure to leave room for dessert as the case looked so very tempting.

So Cheeky’s had an hour wait, we came to Jake’s and happy with r choice. Got seated inside, nice quaint décor, very friendly waiter. Great breakfast and brunch menu. They use local and fresh ingredients from produce and proteins. I had the egg scramble with the fresh herb, cheese, organic greens that was lightly dressed and fresh and a fruit bowl with sweet in seasoned melon strawberries pineapple, wheat toast. Hubby had the French toast and fresh fruit of blueberries and strawberries and warm maple syrup. They have to go breakfast, brunch items, salads and sweet goodies. Their fresh salads in the refrigerated display looked mouth watering delicious — greens, chicken salad, Caesar, Greek… so good and their dessert case looked even better, cakes and more. So if you are in Palm Springs, visit Jakes!

It really pains me to give Jake’s a 2-star review because I’ve truly loved the place before, but unfortunately my latest dinner on was marked with bad service and only average food. Our experience was tainted before the dinner began. We waited over 30 minutes for our reservation — understandable, it’s hard to seat a larger party at a small restaurant. While waiting we checked out the dessert counter, where one of the people in our party asked the man working the counter about the chocolate cake. He rudely shushed her, and the made a biting, snarky comment. Dinner was not as good as I’ve had before. The appetizers(Lobster Tempura, Crab Cakes, and Ahi Poke) were all lackluster. The soups(Butternut Squash) was far too sweet. The entrees were better, but my steak was overcooked(I asked for medium rare, it was closer to medium well). The desserts would warrant 5-stars — the salted-caramel vanilla cake is excellent. So overall, a disappointing experience that could’ve easily been 3.5 — 4 stars with better service from the staff.

A very good frittata served to me for brunch. I found the menu to be very limited. Nothing really interested me. Coffee was bleh. Service was cold and awkward. Dogs barking loudly in the patio area. Likely won’t return.

This was my first time in Palm Springs. I was not sure what I expected but I was really let down from my whole visit. I was imagining a desert oasis with a bubbling nightlife. Streets filled with cafes, shops, and restaurants that it would be hard to choose which place to go to. Instead I find that people usually just stay in their resort of choice and most places close before 10 on a Saturday night. Despite my disappointment with my trip, my visit to Jakes’s made up for it. This may be the hot spot of Palm Springs. There were no available reservations for this fine establishment until 9:00PM on a Saturday night. We decided to take our chances and arrive at 8:00 and hope we get seated early which we did. To our surprise it was Palm Springs restaurant week. So we got a 3 course dinner for $ 26. One thing to note is that they have a great selection of non alcoholic drinks. The wife is currently pregnant with our second child and it is always refreshing to see a restaurant with a non alcoholic drink selection that doesn’t consist of just soda. After we ordered we were brought out a «muse» which was ahi tuna on top of a cucumber and sprinkled with feta cheese. So simple, so tasty, I wish i thought of it. Our food came out promptly. My wedge salad had a great salad dressing to vegetable ratio which is always appreciated. The entrée I ordered was the baby back ribs. I am not sure if I have a soft spot for teriyaki glazed rjbs but this was amazing. The meat fell off the bone and the sauce was unique and tasty, I don’t know of any place with a flavor like this. The wife got the petite filet which she also enjoyed. Their desert menu consisted of at least 7 different cakes. I do not remember which cake I ordered because I was in such a food coma. If I ever go to Palm Springs again, which I probably won’t, I will be sure to visit Jake’s again.

Food was good but not a wow factor. I like the idea of free appetizer. It was yummy. I got the grilled stripe bass over rice… the fish was ok and the sauce over the rice was toooo salty. I did not eat the rice. The server was nice but he never came back to refill our water. Only 1 bathroom for both genders. Hard to find parking as well!
