Elmer’s was walking distance from our hotel and was tagged as being dog-friendly, so we gave it a try for breakfast on a Thursday morning. The restaurant was busy, but we were able to get a table on the patio within five minutes. Not only was the patio area completely shady(perfect for our heat-sensitive pug), but the server even offered us treats for our pup. All of the staff were extremely friendly and engaged with us and our dog as if we were long-time customers. It goes without saying that the food was delicious and satisfying. As others have mentioned in previous reviews, the German pancake with lemon and butter is super refreshing and delicious. Definitely something to try if you haven’t!

Check the stats, people: they gots close to 100 reviews and be rockin’ 4 and a half average. What anyone got to say? All I want to add is– my man Omar held us down. And the day before, she-beaux had a solo breakfast and reported that Elaine is the bees knees, yo. The breakfast skillets is amazing, and the service is a straight well oiled machine. Drove by on Saturday morning and the line was strong. I got at the spot on a weekday, so if you’s weekendin’ in Palm Springs, just get at ‘em early, I’m sayin’. Those ol’ photos, tho: Sammy Davis Jr., Sonny Bono, Sinatra. You really get the impression they was part of that era, not just some fools tryin’ to capitalize on the vibe. Big ups to this spot.

This has to be the most popular breakfast place in Palm Springs! We got here about 7:30 a.m. on a Saturday and by 8 a.m. there was a line out the door. It is all about the German pancake that is as big as the plate it is served on. Butter, lemon, and powdered sugar make it an absolutely delicious treat. I ended up getting the combo with eggs and bacon, in addition to the pancake. All were perfectly cooked and I couldn’t finish the entire pancake. It was just too big. The service is extremely efficient and i’d say that lends to their popularity. Great breakfast destination when you are SUPER hungry. I’ll be back on my next trip down.

LOVED Elmer’s! Such an unassuming diner with quite possibly the friendliest people on staff. Elmer’s came up on my Unilocal radar when searching for a breakfast spot. It was a quick half mile drive from the Saguaro. We ordered the Dutch Baby(German pancake) to share, and it was delightful. Every bit as good as other reviewers have said, and it was wonderful plain. Deliciously crispy edges, with a thicker center soaked in butter and lemony goodness. Yum. I ordered the Wilmette omelet(added avocado for $ 1), which was fresh and delicious. It’s also an enormous amount of food as you can choose between hash potatoes, fruit, and/or a biscuit. There’s an option for pancakes somewhere in there too. I opted for the hash and biscuit(it’s vacation after all), and was shocked by the size of the biscuit. My friend got their avocado benedict which came with perfectly poached eggs. Their grilled avocado sandwich also looked amazing on my friend’s plate(yes, all 3 of us had avocado on our plates). Coffee was strong and hot. Breakfast served all day, which is a big plus in my breakfast-loving book. Waiters checked in on us often, which was great. If the weather is nice, ask for outdoor seating! It’s not immediately apparent that they have it available. The outdoor area is small and covered in shade, so you don’t get burned. Look forward to coming back in the future!

There is absolutely nothing to complain about here. In fact rave reviews all around. Pretty large menu, but very well organized. I was delighted to see a breakfast all day restaurant next to my Ace hotel. Grabbed the Willamette omelet which was filled with all sorts of good veggies and chicken sausage. Coffee was average. But that isn’t why you come here at 730 at night ;) I also have to give big props to the staff, super crazy friendly. Will be coming back next time I am in Palm Springs.

The best diner in the desert. Great service and food that is far superior to any sort of IHOP or Denny’s. If you are seeking a casual, quick, no-frills brekky place, this is it! The Dutch pancake is awesome.

We were met at the door with a cheerful welcome by the host. Every one we came in contact with was excellent and clearly focused on providing great service. The number one reason I go out to eat is for the service. I know how to cook and I do it better than most restaraunt cooks. So going out to eat needs to be more than adequate. The food is good but it takes extra attention for me to 5 star a restaurant. Not all Elmers rate this high. And only breakfast need be eaten there. Seriously! The strawberry crepes were to die for! The Apple sausage was delicious. German was the server’s name. He was extra attentive to details, no request was too much.

This place is well known in Palm Springs and is also a top rated restaurant among the city! The wait is a bit long especially during the high season here in the desert. It’s a German owned family restaurant. They serve a variety of omelette, crepes, pancakes/German pancakes and waffles. I have yet to try the lunch and dinner. The coffee is nice and strong! Not your typically watered down coffee. I believe they roast their coffee from local Palm Springs roasters-Koffi. I loved it. They include buttermilk biscuits/hash browns or pancakes with all their plates. I requested wheat bread for a healthier option with fruit. The portions are pretty large. My only critique: wish they had more healthier options. Other than than that the service is excellent! Our server was very attentive and nice.

Rule 1: Order German Pancakes. Rule 2: Look at rule 1 and apply. Rule 3: C’mon now, seriously you should know by now. I enjoyed my first mouthful of German Pancake and this is coming from a girl whose not a fan of pancake. With the Ligonberry sauce on the side so I can control the sweetness, the German Pancake was a big hit for our table. Expect a wait during weekend brunch hour. They have a pretty bit parking lot but it does get full and if that’s the case, you can easily find street parking. I really just came from the German Pancake, guys.

This place is fantastic. Can’t beat the breakfast(don’t miss out on the German pancakes or any others for they’re all great and the potato cakes are the best in town) but the fish is wonderful too. The service is great and friendly and they make you feel right at home. Lots of parking which is always a good thing.

The service was a little confusing because it didn’t appear as if there were specific servers assigned to each table. The food itself seemed unspectacular. We ordered the chicken fried steak with fruit and sunny side up eggs and the German pancake combo with berry sauce. The chicken fried steak was nice and crispy, but the rest of the food was very typical dinner quality food. The German pancake itself appeared very impressive but came out kind of cold. Not sure if they left the food sitting in the pass a while or what. This joint has incredibly high ratings so they must be doing something right, may give it another try in the future. I also ordered a coffee and unlike most diners, they weren’t very attentive with refills.

I’d definitely say I’m hooked on this western restaurant chain, yes for breakfast you can’t beat it but I’ve been a more frequent« Unilocaler» at them more for lunch and dinner. Today was on par with he other Elmer’s I’ve dined at both in Oregon and Washington. Our server Belinda was very pleasant and was very attentive to our table. The restaurant was clean and appeared t be well managed at the time we were there(lunchtime). The only reason why I dinged Elmer 1* was because I ordered a Organic Greens with Smoke-Grilled Chicken salad(and granted I did order the smaller portion size) there was litterlly just three small slivers of sliced chicken breast on the salad. Come on Elmer, I would guess it those slivers of chicken breast weighed no more than 3oz; and costing $ 9.89 seemed to be quite out of range for what was served! Ron enjoyed the Chicken Quesadilla without question and actually for not being a Mexican restaraunt it did look quite good in my «gringo» opinion! I really get a kick when eating at Elmer’s and I’m quite certain you will to, so give it a try the food really is quite good, I just know better next time to order something different.

If you like IHOP, then you will like this place. While this might be locally owned, it is a chain restaurant from the Pacific Northwest, as my husband informed me laughingly as we pulled up. I love breakfast and this was a tremendous disappointment, though that was probably my fault given that I chose the place and departed from my staple breakfast of eggs, bacon, and toast. To that end, I ordered the blackberry cheese blintzes, which were prepared with cottage cheese. I now see that sometimes they are prepared this way, I’ve never had them that way and was not what I was expecting. If the filling had been mixed with anything(a little sugar or anything to make it not taste like someone just dolloped cottage cheese in there), I could have gotten past it, but sadly they weren’t. Worse yet was that the blintz part holding it all together was way more thick than I’ve ever eaten as well. I had to give up and rely on my bacon for sustenance. Unfortunately, that was fraught with problems too. I ordered my bacon extra crispy because I hate floppy bacon, but it did not come that way. I might normally look the other way on that, but because my blintzes were inedible, I needed my bacon cooked properly. When it was returned, it was definitely crispy but it tasted fishy, which I assume is because they took a short cut by dropping it in the deep fryer. Luckily, my husband ordered the lingonberry crepes, which were everything they should be and he was willing to share them with me, so I didn’t leave completely hungry.(Also the only reason I redeemed them to two stars).

Atmosphere: large mom and pop restaurant Ordered items: German pancake and potato pancake breakfast(in the cake mood that day) I absolutely loved this hometown café. We went on New Year’s Day so there was quite a wait, but definitely worth every second. We started off with a German pancake which the cooks were so nice to split for us. This giant lemon buttery piece of heaven was cooked perfectly and was extremely delicious. I wish I had ordered more than one. Once we finished swallowing the German pancake whole our plates arrived. The potato pancakes were served as kosher as they should be with apple sauce and all. The plates we very«American» sized, if I were ever to be in the area again I would definitely share. To top off this amazing experience we had the best waitress! She was amazingly helpful and kind.

Had a wonderful breakfast at this restaurant this morning with my husband. I had the German pancake it was fantastic with butter lemon wedges and powdered sugar on it. Also have five strips of crisp delicious bacon which came with it. My has been enjoyed a waffle scrambled eggs and three crisp link sausage. Omar our waiter was very attentive and helpful and quick and also very friendly with us. The restaurant inside was very charming we will make it a point to go there for breakfast again. We even got a free cup of coffee for signing up on their email website. Also the prices are very reasonable for the Palm Springs area.

German Pancakes and Fresh Blueberry Cheese Blintz! One of my favorite places for a Christmas Breakfast. This is an old school restaurant in the heart of the dessert that is the recipient of numerous awards. The menu sports many traditional American breakfast items and a few specialty and unique items. ~Traditional American Breakfasts You can order eggs just about any way you want them. They serve sausage, bacon, ham, omelets, pancakes and more. They also have a children’s menu. ~Specialty Items Specialty items seem to be the way to go here. They are usually listed on the cove of the menu. A great option is the giant German Pancake with fresh squeezed lemon. This dish is complete if you order the combo with eggs and breakfast meat. While Elmer ’ s may not be the best restaurant on the planet, it is good, consistent, and seems to always be open! I am a fan!

We stopped in here again and tried the German pancake combo which includes an egg choice and meat choice and we also ordered two fruit crepes to share between the two of us. Enough food for both of us and we are hearty eaters and we had leftovers to take home. We ordered the German pancake with the carmel apple topping. Our waitress suggested we have the topping on the side so we could try it with the lemon and butter first to see if we liked it that way. It was very good that way! I also like it with the apple topping too. The scrambled eggs they served were some of the best I’ve ever had. So light and fluffy and creamy. They also serve thick sliced bacon. The crepes were good too. We had the triple berry. Yummy! Our waitress Louise was a sweetheart and took good care of us. Not once did we have to ask for drink refills and the manager even came by to check on us and asked us if we would like some syrup for the German pancake as he liked it that way with his. Good food, great service, no wonder they’ve won so many awards! We will definitely be back!!!

A true diner in every sense. Right off the bat I could tell I was going to like this place, despite having to wait 20 minutes to get seated; but 20 minutes is a small amount at brunch time on a Sunday during a holiday weekend, no less. It’s a busy place. Comfy booths, loud atmosphere – definitely felt homey to me! Parking was definitely a hassle. I recommend having one member of your party get out and get on the waiting list while you circle twenty times to get a spot. Elmer’s is great about turning tables as fast as they can, so service is very good; if you’re not a loitering buffoon, expect to be out of there in under an hour from seating. Our server Lucia was very accommodating and checked up on us several times – I appreciate you handling my demanding mom! And thank you for the refills! I chug. Le sigh. Huge huge HUGE portions. I think my family definitely were thinking with our eyes and not our stomachs when we decided to get five entrees – must’ve gotten used to those petite dishes we had a few nights previous. Either way, WHOA. Delicious. Collectively we got the bacon avocado burger, the steak and eggs, the Reuben(sans sauerkraut), the fish and chips, and the«looking for sun» omelet. In hindsight, I should have had someone get the pancakes; we all thought they looked amazing, but we are a group of savory food lovers. Bring on the salt! Bacon avocado burger: everything a sandwich should be. Great balance of flavor, a small side of fries(yay ranch!), and generous as fuck. Win. Steak and eggs: super standard, large portion. Steak needs sauce, hashbrowns need sauce, everything needs sauce. SAUCESAUCESAUCE. Remember to ask for your sides(ketchup, mustard, A1, ranch, etc) because they don’t come out with any of the dishes. «Looking for Sun» omelet: very good, has lots of flavor; basically the opposite of the steak and eggs – this required no additional seasoning. It was delicious. Reuben: definitely needed some spicy mustard. What’s a deli sandwich without mustard? They only had French’s classic, so my mom made due. It was a decent sandwich, but it just needed a little extra oomph. Asked for pickles to get added to it because YEAHPICKLES. Sadly they were regular pickles and not kosher dill pickles, because that would’ve raised the fucking bar really high. Note to self: stop eating at Jewish delis. Coleslaw was bland and watery. Very disappointed with that. Fish and Chips: the saddest and plainest of the bunch. I would just pass on this. It’s nothing special and the portion, comparatively, was small. Good thing we got this one to share. I’d definitely come back here in a heartbeat. Everything looked delicious and the price was so beyond reasonable: 5 entrees for $ 75?! TAKEMYMONEY.
