This is a hit or miss for me. The shrimp cocktail is probably the only thing I enjoyed.

JJ’s was incredible! We had the pleasure of being served by JJ himself– he has to be one of the coolest guys ever! He(along with the food, obviously) made our experience a memorable one. We will definitely be going back the next time we’re in town.

The only thing nice about this place is the bar and the booth. Cool wrap arounds, not my bitchen shades but the benches. Food is total garbage and way over priced, go anywhere but here unless you just want a drink. Staff was lovely, sorry your food is such shit.

Came here when I was in town for the vintage trailer show. I ordered the fish taco plate with rice and beans. The staff was very nice. The only good tasting thing I ate was the salsa. The food itself didn’t have too much flavor. Compared to Mexican food in LA this isn’t so good.

Best Mexican in Palm Springs! Unpretentious, authentic, family run Mexican restaurant. Friendly service, relaxed, and delicious! Loveclove love their margaritas, and homemade tortillas and chips.

Great food and friendly service! We got food here for Valentine’s Day after discovering that every other restaurant in town was fully booked and serving only over priced prix fixe. A real find!

You definitely want to go to this place! We called at 8:45 p.m. and they close at 9 but they were still very happy to serve us. Everything was homemade and delicious. The chips and salsa were top notch. We had the chicken enchiladas and the chicken tacos and a tostada salad it was beautifully made. The owner met us with a smile and a handshake and it is my new favorite Mexican restaurant :-) I almost forgot to mention the flan! Must try.

Super friendly and excellent service in store and take out. We ordered breakfast burritos for pick up one day and even though we called before they were open, they had them ready right at opening. Food was delicious and true authentic Mexican food. We returned and ate at the bar for a late lunch later in the week and weren’t disappointed. This place isn’t on Main Street but that doesn’t mean it isn’t great!

Stay away from this establishment! Did not get through our order when the elderly gentleman taking our order developed a case of rude. This may have been the owner — older Hispanic with thick accent. Negative 10 stars!

What is a hungry, tired and very stressed out girl to do when hubby is in Desert Regional and its been a day of «he is being discharged», no he is not, he is, he is not… AAAUGH! Just make a decision already! I need a drink! So it was Thurs nite and I could not get past the street fair in Downtown Palm Springs to any of my usual dinner spots, so I found myself at JJ’s. First time here… quaint, cozy, and authentic, to include the musica! Salsa pretty good, guacamole very good. My Cadillac Margarita hit the spot and I got an ala carte cheese enchilada and s shrimp enchilada. Both were tasty and sized nicely… the cheese one was very cheesy and i liked that very much! I took off one star as the chips were a little hard… But it was 9:10 pm, so my bad. Give em a try!!! I will be back!

The chile verde was excellent, with a wonderfully tangy spicy sauce. Given that, I wish I could give higher rating but a number of other things are holding me back. Service was friendly but when asked if we wanted guacamole David casually said«no we’re ok» and then guacamole appeared. I guess we needed to say no more forcefully, but we took the guacamole which was ok but nothing special. Salsa was pretty good but the chips were too hard. I also really liked the rice that was served with our meals, but the small mound of rice was just way too small. The portion of beans was larger but they had an odd flavor. The iced tea didn’t taste great and at $ 3 it ought to be better. Decent place but pricey.

Easily one of the best Mexican food meals I’ve had in Palm Springs. Owner and staff took great care to make me comfortable, coconut flan was to die for! Small, unassuming place on Palm Canyon right as you get into town, don’t be deceived, the food is excellent!

Rude service, mediocre food, pricey. I walked in solo, was given chips and salsa. The salsa was probably from a can. The chips were too hard. Ordered Huevos Mexicana, a breakfast plate for 12.00. It came with a salad and beans, the egg portion very small. I was surprised and as the server was leaving I said«Im surprised this came with a salad». The lady manager/owner was nearby and immediately replied to me in an upset tone: «Didn’t you read the menu? Its on there that it comes with a salad. «She then offered rice. I should have left but I was having a good day and didnt feel like spoling it. As I finished my meal I attempted to have a small talk with the lady to give her a benefit of the doubt. Failed. Aa I was handed back my check the lady dropped my Credit Card and just left it on the floor. Look at my pics. Will never be back. I hope another Mexican Restaurant opens close by and steals their patrons. They dont deserve none.

The key words on the front of the menu are«Fresh» and«Amigos». There is no shortage of Mexican cocinas in Palm Springs, but JJ“s is my new go to. I have been there twice. Last night I turned a friend on to JJ’s(a bit out of our way but so worth the drive). I wanted to hear his opinion, so I did not rave about my first experience here. He loved it as much as I do and I enjoyed listening to his raves while we ate and drank. What I love: I am vegetarian, so fresh food is a must for me. I have twice had the Chili-Relleno and cheese enchilada, both of which I eat many of because there is so much meat used in Mexican cooking. I find these among the very best in town. They are covered in a very fresh, almost salsa-like, ranchero sauce which is such a break from the typical thick, heavy ranchero sauces I am more familiar with. I LOVE the sauces here! The rice and beans are also among the freshest and best tasting I have had(and I eat a lot of Mexican food). I particularly love JJ’s rice! The ‘ritas are also fantastic that rate among«the Best», as others have also mentioned on here. After two of those, the fried ice cream was not a smart decision, but we were both glad we ordered it. Vanilla ice cream covered with cinnamon and sugar then fried was fantastic! We shared one, thank God. Something about a tad too much tequila and ice cream that goes down hard, but both were 5 star in taste. But the best is the friendly atmosphere. The service is always very friendly and it seems to build a vibe in this small homelike place, refreshing from the more cookie cutter restaurant environments that focus on function and utility. We found both the dining room and patio nearly packed last night and it still felt like we were all kindred spirits seeking the divine in Mexican cooking. JJ’s is a delicious and unique experience for folks who like authenticity.

The 5 stars are for making the VERYBESTCEVICHE I HAVEEVERHAD&OUTSTANDING Customer Service!!! I have been coming to this place for years and I live far!!! Of course, whenever I’m in Palm Springs I must come to have my CEVICHE, but I have also made special trips JUST to come and have it!!! I have eaten some of their other dishes and they have been excellent, BUT once I tried the Ceviche that was it!!! I MUSTEAT their Ceviche EVERYTIME now!!! JJ is the owner and he is so personable and friendly… it is true, he makes you feel so welcome. To be honest, I’ve read through some of the reviews and I don’t understand how anybody could give this place anything lower than 4 stars!!! It’s a great Mom & Pop place with reasonable prices and a very low key atmosphere. I recommend this place to everyone I know!
