Was here for lunch. Falafel, burnt in the outside, uncooked inside. The hummus was a non-descript gooey paste. The chicken was dry. No one should eat here.

I remember when they opened the first locale on California Ave way back in the day. They since moved up to University and had Kan Zeman added to boot. However I think the quality of the food has slipped. Got the lamb/beef shwarma combo with falafel, hummus, tabouleh, dolmas and salad with pita. Falafels were good. Everything else was just average. The salad was a bit sad. Now if there were no other Mediterranean places I could justify hitting it up again. However we counted 8 places in about 4 blocks of varying degrees of fast-elegant representations of the cuisine. So I can’t say Im rushing back

I’ve eaten here many times, but today was the first time that I’ve eaten here since Kan Zeman closed. It appears that their dinners are now sit down(it wasn’t like that the last time I had dinner). The prices are the same. We had excellent service, and I enjoyed getting free pita bread with this delicious dipping sauce. I had the deluxe falafel sandwich, which was still as good and filling as ever(it has potatoes and eggplant in it). I forgot to ask for it spicy, but they brought me some spicy sauce on the side(yummy). The wait staff was as attentive and friendly. Will definitely be going back for dinner.

We were Kan Zeman customers and this was our first time visiting the new location. We were very pleased with the food. I had the lentil soup and three of us shared a large Caesar salad which even my son approved of. Husband and son had chicken and beef kabobs respectively. My husband just raved about the chicken in the kabob being«perfect!» My son enjoyed his beef kabob but said there was too much other stuff. Well, my gain, I enjoyed the rice and really top-notch hummus that comes on the platter. My lentil soup was as good as I remember and I think I would want to order it every time I go there! I also particularly like the Mujadarah(I hope I spelled that right), a rice and lentil dish, much like a Mediterranean kichadi. I had the Chai and it is very nice, a sweet sage and mint tea. We each had a dessert, mine was the rice pudding and it was so good. The guys each had different pastries and liked them very much. The service was a mix of a little forgetful and mostly thoughtful, and I did feel that overall they treated us well. I do like the décor of the new location too. I’m glad there is still«Kan Zeman» and I think we’ll be going there a lot more now.

I used to order lunch from here years ago when I was working in the area. – Shewarma Salad — It was good. The meat was a little on the dry side which is why I took off a star. I was able to split the salad for 2 different meals. – Baba Ghanoush — This tastes as good and fresh as I remembered. Had to get a pint which I don’t think was enough. Note to Self: Must stop for more Baba Ghanoush when there next time. This was a to-go order.

Usually it’s so hard to find quality cheap food in downtown Palo Alto. that’s why I love this place so much. The Chicken Shawarma is amazing. For 10 bucks you get deliciously juicy, tender, and well flavored chicken kabob over rice, tomato/cucumber salad, and hummus. Great deal, fast service, cheap prices. Couldn’t ask for more.

Bumping this place up a star because I had seriously excellent service last night. I called ahead and ordered because I was tight on time, but then couldn’t find parking for maybe fifteen minutes. The manager was kind enough to tell me that next time I wanted take out, I could call in and he would just run the food out to my car. Awesome. Much better option than trying to find parking in downtown Palo Alto at 830 on a Thursday. Also chicken schwarma wrap was so so good. Definitely the best thing I’ve had from here, and way too much food for one meal. $ 16.50 for two.

A good place for a quick after theatre meal. This restaurant is located next to the University Theatre in Palo Alto. My wife and I stopped there after a double feature of classic movies at the theatre. It was almost closing time(10 pm) but they were still serving. We ordered the schwarma wrap, fried eggplant, cheese pie, and baklava. As there were very few people in the restaurant at this time, there was no wait to place our orders at the counter. There is inside and outside seating. By the time we got to our outdoor table, the waiter was right behind us with our order! That’s really quick cooking and service! The fried eggplant was fantastic. It also included two falafal balls and the whole thing was covered in tahini(sesame sauce). We loved it! The schwarma wrap had lamb and beef in it and was tasty. The cheese pie was unexceptional, mostly doughy. It was a rare treat to find baklava made properly with pistachios(and not walnuts, as my wife is allergic to walnuts).

So far this is the best Falafel Wrap I’ve EVERHAD!!! :-D Its a cute place with indoor/outdoor seating. I ordered the Falafel Wrap + Chocolate Baklava + Ginger Ale. The Falafel was awesome… they ask you if you want it spicy or extra spicy with you order it… a nice change. I asked for spicy and it was perfect…(no teary eyes by the last bite). The falafal balls are perfectly spiced and super hot(straight from the hot oil into the wrap) and the salad that in the wrap is nice too… crispy and fresh… The Chocolate Baklava was cold and the layers of nuts and flaky layers was set and a little hard… since I like my baklava warm, gooey and chewy — this was ok…1 piece is super heavy and filling. The Ginger Ale was AWESOME… super gingery and spicey… but cool and soda-y at the same time. This is way better than Canada Dry or the Ginger Ale you get from the grocery store. This is definitely my new favorite falafel place… a little far from my home… but worth it.

a pretty decent lamb+beef shawerma for a decent price – 7.55. I’m used to the shawerma awesomeness of truly mediterranean in the city, but this one… could almost scratch that itch. The meat was slightly overcooked(texture a little bit like stewed meat), but it was moist, tender, and well marinated. the levash bread got soaked through by the shawerma’s sauce dripping out. which is a good and bad thing. but I must say, they do it right, with the tomatoes soaking up the drippings from the vertical shawerma spit. I’d definitely recommend.

3.5* mediterranean burrito I know I was starved at the time, so anything I would have been devoured… and this was not a bad choice! Had the falafel deluxe wrap~ it was super quick. looks like a big burrito. it was tasty, juicy, filling. but nothing crazy or stand out. i came hungry and left full. good enough :)

Came here for a quick bite during lunch. We ordered 2 wraps( ). They were decently sized, not too big but plenty for a meal. Neither of us finished our wrap though… guess we both reached a point where we felt we have satisfied our hunger and there’s really no point in eating more of something that we would only rate as a 2-star. Here’s what we ordered: Falafel Duluxe Wrap $ 6.99(Two =P”’) ( ) This is their Falafel wrap with additional of eggplant and potato. The gf heard eggplant and then she heard potato… and she was sold! She’s a huge fan of falafel so she was super stoked but only to find the wrap pretty ordinary. Shawerma Wrap Lamb and Beef $ 7.55(Two =P”’) ( ) This wrap has thin marinated slices of lamb and beef with tomatoes, lettuce, onions, parsley, and Tahini sauce. It was okay… I thought it was a little too meaty but I guess that’s what you get when you order a wrap with 2 types of meat? Sorry… I would have to say«Meh. I’ve experienced better.»

DARKCHOCOLATEDIPPEDBAKLAVA! They have it here, and its insanely good. Putting baklava and dark chocolate together was freakin genius — the guy who took my order recommended it to me one day, and how could I pass it up? I was so stuffed from my meal that I got a box for both my leftover food and the baklava… I decided to take one bite, then two, then I thought it was so good I should bring the rest home to my mom… but no; the baklava box went unused and mom didn’t get to try it. oops! Oh yeah, the food is good here too. I really like the sampler plate of everything(dolmas, hummus, falafel, etc). really yummy — I think its around $ 9 or so.

Not as good as the Cal Ave location, falafels were burnt, staff was less nice and the location was bigger but no one was in the place anyway. I wonder if Kan Zeman is any better? Also, they had a whole Safeway cake in the front cooler, just in case that’s what you wanted for dessert. Blech.

Same owners own Kanzeman a block away and the Mediterranean Wraps on California which somehow I liked more, not sure why. Different from the Kanzeman in the city though. As always, outdoor seating is a huge plus. I like the murals and the glass entrance way a lot. The food was just ok though. I thought the schwerma meat was too salty and fatty. The kufta wrap was pretty good. Give it a try and decide for yourself.

As far as cheap wraps go, this is a pretty decent place. 3.5 stars, if Unilocal had the option. We stumbled across this place while waiting for Seven Samurai at the Stanford Theatre next door. expected a mediocre wrap and were pleasantly surprised. We requested our wraps extra spicy(which it was) — however, it did need a bit of extra tahini sauce. or something. Ask for extra!

After sipping on some great hot chocolate jut across the street, my superlative speaking friend pointed me in the direction of what he claimed to be the best shawermas on the west coast. A little skeptical of his claim, I first phoned in only to find them closing in a few minutes. However, the very kind owner insisted that I drop by and even kept the shop open as he waited for our little party. I ordered the lamb shawerma over the phone and it was ready for me when I arrived. At $ 8, it was a little pricier than I expected but was extremely delicious. The lamb was tender and the whole wrap was juicy and flavorful. I’m not sure if it was the best shawerma, but it was pretty damn good. To cure an empty stomach that was full of liquor and liquids, the lamb wrap really hit the spot. The restaurant was beautiful and it’s no wonder the place is a popular student spot for a quick, albeit relatively expensive bite to eat. If I’m ever in the area again, I’m definitely picking one of these up after some cocktails! Best pre-hangover cure ever. Food: 8⁄10 Service: 10⁄10 Price: $ Atmosphere: 8⁄10

After the plentiful drinks at the Elite event down the street, my girls, hubby and I needed food! This place was reasonably healthy, fast, and pretty cheap, so in we went. I ordered the falafel deluxe wrap, and my hubby had the chicken shawerma wrap. We swapped half so we got to have a bit of each. Both were good, but not great. I didn’t realize they came with onions in them,(which is my fault, I should have asked) and I HATE raw onions. I’ve had much better falafel and chicken shawerma at a few other places. The men working there were really nice, and they brought out some free tea to everyone. I LOVED the tea! Unfortunately, I probably won’t return next time I’m in the area. Especially with so many other Mediterranean places in the neighborhood.

For now, I’m giving this place 2 stars. 1 star for the nice owner/manager guy behind the counter 1 star for quick service I ordered a chicken wrap(I know, boring) and asked for no tomato’s and no onions. Service was quick and wrap was $ 7.35. I get back to work and the wrap falls apart, thus needing a plate and utensil. I noticed it’s loaded with chicken and lettuce, but lacks flavor. Also, it was loooooooooaded with onions. I think the guy must have sliced a whole onion up and decided to throw it into the next schmuck who ordered a wrap.(me!) Oh sad! I had high hopes, but alas Gyro Gyro is still my fave for now. I may venture there again for a second chance, but my eyes are still burning from the plate of onions sitting next to me. Oh how I miss Andale’s.

I am so excited that my old favorite has opened a new location(the old Andale) that is closer to my home. I love the food, the people, the service. I usually get one of the plates because I love making every bite taste differently, but everything here is good. I love that it opened just in time to enjoy the outdoor seating on University Avenue.
