First off, it will be your loss if you have issue with people from India and turn away for that reason only. This is an older motel that has it’s bumps, bruises, repairs and stains, but if your into clean and inexpensive motels with charm and with no kids stomping on the floor above you, this is the place. It is all one story and set up like the old auto courts(yeah, I’m old enough to remember those). The pool is scarred, but clean. The vegetation is nicely trimmed and they try to pretty it up with planters of flowers. Enough about the outside. We were here for two days. We had two rooms, both very clean. The manager(Owner?) was very sweet and helpful. The bathrooms(as far as I know, all are the same) have showers only with smaller than normal doors(my son, all 340lbs of him had no issues in and out), but the shower itself is much bigger on the inside. Though the grout is discolored in places, I saw no signs of dirt, soap scum, mold, or any other mean, nasty stuff that usually accompany an inexpensive motel. Hey, it’s old, so this should be expected. We saw no sign of any kind of bugs anywhere. This is kind of unusual for not only an older motel, especially in California(notorious for bugs), but in a hot area. It was 104 degrees when we arrived. The beds were not at all saggy or super hard, VERY comfortable. Best sleep I’ve had on this trip. They have wifi and the computers had no issues with disconnects. No smoking AND smoking rooms. If you smoke, expect stale smoke smell, as in any other motel that has smoking rooms. My room was non smoking and smelled clean. I had to look under the bed for something and no dust bunnies, which is more than I can say than the big chain places I usually stay at. All in all, a WONDERFUL place to stay. After we asked about it(thought we were hallucinating), were told that in only three rooms, there is a circle of stars over the bed(painted, not plastic dime store, oh, excuse me, dollar store type, only can see them at night when the lights are out). If you only need one bed, ask for room 26!

Cute old motel. Nothing fancy about it but it’s charming and served it’s purpose for us. Sleep and a shower

Made the mistake of booking this motel for three nights. Had another property up the street in mind. The Lantern is pretty run-down with mold in the shower and a generally unclean feeling. Dark and dank and completely unappealing in all areas. Continental breakfast consisted of a box of Twinkies and an unidentifiable cookie of some sort. Did not get as far as beverages… if any. Definitely a place to avoid in the future.
