Some of the sushi tasted weird and the chefs weren’t Japanese. The good thing the food were cheap

Well that was a terrible service. Went there yesterday at 5pm, with husband and baby in tow. I understand the restaurant/food/service business industry well, so my expectations were that the food must be ok, ambiance/design has to be ok, and price has to be ok to pass.(now kids, let me explain: if it’s in a mall, restaurants tend to be pricier than stand alone buildings due to rent. So I’m not shocked why my tea was 4.00) But what really annoys me is how my table was THEONLYOCCUPIEDTABLEATSUCHTIME, ANDYETMYWAITRESS, JUSTTELLSME «PLEASEPRESSTHEBUTTONIFYOUNEEDME.» And another waitress comes in and says the same thing. WHAT weird PARALLELUNIVERSEAM I IN? OHWAIT A LAZYEFFONE. Excuse me, there’s no one around! How can you get paid if you ain’t hustling? No refills for my water or drink? By the way, I abhor it when a wait staff even takes my glass of water that I was drinking still. THISISN’T A MICHELINRESTO. I get it. You want to clean the table. but girl with the short hair, please take note: learn how to be a waitress. How am I suppose to tip you when the food already comes to me? That goes for your friend too. Food is ok. It’s conveyor belt sushi. you are paying for the experience and for the price gouging. I can think of a better conveyor belt sushi place in the area. I’m sorry but I tried to like the business. The only way to like this is if they actually have an attentive lively staff, accessible menu(some of the foods are hot, they should have a way to «flag» the hot items because the steam is masking the view) and a curated selection on sakes. #sorrynotsorry

3.5. But I rounded up. Because I’m nice. The price was obviously hiked up. The service wasn’t bad. The guy who was serving us was young and nice but probably a high schooler. The place probably hired all these high schoolers. Some are nice. Some are … Eh. One server stared at me blankly when he asked my order… So the other wait staff had to come back and take my order. Lol. Ok. Food. My hubby and I went to East Japanese. A lot. Which is my comparison to this place. East Japanese is definitely better because it isn’t in a mall. The fish pretty much are of the same quality… I didn’t get much food. Because it is expensive. But we tried the salmon steam bun and the chicken steam buns… The salmon was pretty good! The steam bun chicken is like chicken tenders in a bun. Lol I had a handroll. You can make your own! They got my order wrong. Or. Their description of «su-Miso» sauce was wrong. One wait staff told me the«su-miso» sauce was mayo like… When I got my hand roll… There was no sauce. Anyway. At this point my baby woke up. I didn’t want to ask them to give me what I ordered… I also got the unlimited miso soup. It was good. Haha that was the best thing about this place! But I saw how they made the miso soup. They have a miso soup dispenser. It’s like those dunkaccino dispenser in Dunkin donuts. Except for miso soup. Lol OBV I question the quality hahaha So. That is what I got I feel cruel for giving them only 3… So it’s a 3.5! Hahahahaha PS: we only got one thing from the conveyer. Which defeated the whole point for it. There was not a lot on the belt. Conclusion: food is ok Price is bad Service was meh the skinny young guy with the glasses was nice) Atmosphere was cute! But so little food on conveyer belt Cleanliness. It was clean. Come here if you don’t mind splurging on an experience that isn’t worth it…

This place is so bad. Me and my wife tried this and we will never set foot here again. If you know your sushi, you will really be disappointed here. I guess this is more for«eating sushi for beginners only» kind of people. Eat at your own risk people, you’ve been warned.

They don’t even deserve the one star. I’ve been to many sushi places like this, yet never came across such poor experience. The food is BAD, overpriced, tiny portions that keep circling on the belt. The service is even worse. Ordered green tea, didn’t get it up until I was done with my meal. The waitress seemed lost. And took forever. The only positive thing is their décor. Needless to say I left there and went to the sushi at the food court which was honestly better.

oh god. I really don’t think I have been to a worse restaurant in years. This place really was a disaster No fresh items coming down the conveyer the entire time we were there. The few things I did order took FOREVER. My kids love conveyer belt sushi, and we have been to several around the country. This, however, was a travesty. All the food on the conveyer looked withered and sad. It tasted worse than it looked. Sorry, we won’t be back anytime soon. We are new to the area, and there are many other sushi/japanese restaurants that I would like to try before giving this place another shot.

Should have checked the Unilocal review before eating here :(as usual Unilocal is right on– we wondered into this place because we love the rotating sushi bar but this place was a disappointment. There are not enough plates rotating so you end up ordering off the menu– The sushi is ok– I would give it a C– and alittle over priced compared to other rotating sushi places we’ve been– but I guess mall rent is high. Besides the sushi we ordered a Ramen and dumplings– usually hard to mess these things up. We sent the ramen back– the noodles were so undercooked– it tasted horrible– how do you mess up Ramen? The dumplings– were the frozen instant kind you buy at the Asian market deep fried so considering that $ 4.50 for 3 pieces was alittle steep. The gist of everything here– instant items, not cooked correctly, overpriced very gimmicky. Server was friendly but again gimmicky with a button you have to press– which was not explained so spent half the time trying to physically flag down a server. No napkins on table– Management didn’t seem to care about anything– Basically you can get better tasting sushi for a quarter of the price down in the food court. This place is surviving on the fact that it looks cool & different & generally when you are in the mall you don’t Unilocal a place– you just walk in. I will never go back there again.

I thought I would give this place a try since I had never tried the«sushi belt» thing before. The concept was interesting but it got annoying quick because you can’t figure out what some items are so a lot of time is spent comparing the item to the menu picture. You can order items too if you don’t want to play this game, but I thought it would be nice to have some labeling. Even some simple letters or numbers to quickly match dishes to. The food was mediocre at best and the price is way too high for the amount and quality of food you get. You are better off paying the same price and going to Minado for the sushi buffet(I am in no way affiliated with Minado). There was also an instance where one of the sashimi I ate tasted funny, it was pretty warm. Ew. Never dining here again, and you shouldn’t either if you actually like sushi.

Decided to come here on a whim one day when my wife and I went to Garden State Plaza. This place gets a lot of credit for its cool, hip atmosphere that certainly draws you in. The food however, is mediocre at best. The fun part about this place is the conveyor belt sushi. It’s something that all sushi fans should try at least once. Should you try the conveyor belt experience for the first time here? Probably not. The sushi is average at best, and the hot food that you can order from the kitchen comes in tiny portions that are also a bit bland. Pricing is a bit high for what you’re getting, but of course you’re also paying for the experience and the atmosphere. As far as mall food places goes, this is about what you can expect. I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here, but it does the job.

Food was delicious. Place was spot less. I love the way the food comes to your table by belt. Innovative yet taste was not sacrificed. Fun place to eat with kids

As you enter the premise, you are greeted with friendly staff. There were no lines when we arrived, lots of younger customers! Young family, friends, due to its location. Restaurant is next to Macy’s and by the Carousel

Great concept of it was done right. You can order an item if you don’t see it but they won’t make it just for you. So if you order it they make 10 of them and add to the conveyor belt. Pricing is the same. So if you happen to be there when no one is ordering you get the lame dishes over and over and over. Sit at the bar so you get the stuff first also. Otherwise it’s the same dried out piece of sushi for an hour

I absolutely love sushi and I have been dying to try this place out but was very disappointed. The only reason I gave it 2 stars was for the service. Our server was very attentive and polite. Sushi was nothing special, very basic rolls. Even had the steamed buns with chicken(chicken was extremely salty and buns were slimy). The iced green tea was almost a neon green color and very tasteless. When coming here you pay more for the atmosphere(conveyor belt) then you really do the quality of food.

First, the good: Yo Sushi is a well-designed, fun, modern, clean, and convenient place to grab a bite when you’re at the mall. Our server Alyssa was very, very friendly and lighting fast in responding when we pressed the magic call button. She had a «shadow» who was also very friendly and trying her best. The prices are reasonable, I suppose. Now, the not-so-good: There is limited variety available from the conveyor belt, which is really the best part of this place. Not seeing the items we wanted, we ordered them. The wait was interminable, which is also why the conveyor belt is the way to go. We ordered the garlic sesame ramen. This was a mistake. The soup looked nothing like the picture, and the broth was greasy and soapy. The noodles were overcooked and kind of stuck together. The salmon from the conveyor belt was serviceable and the salmon kimchi bun was tasty if a bit small for $ 4.00. In conclusion, is this place better than some of the food court atrocities? Absolutely. Is it worth going there as a destination? Sadly, no. This concept is popular in Japan and I’m glad it has made its way here. Unfortunately the novelty of the concept and fresh design of the restaurant are not enough to make you overlook the basic problems of the food itself.

HOWDOYOU F*** UPMISOSOUP? Sour miso soup. Dry looking sushi. Also, very limited selection. The same sushi was rolling so long, that there was heavy condensation inside. Gross. When I asked for chicken Katsu curry, I was told they were sold out of chicken. A minute later about 7 rolls of chicken Katsu sushi comes down the belt. LIARS!!! Way too high of a price for low quality food. Ps no napkins… Wtf? Update 8÷30÷15: I think I might have gotten food poisoning. If others have eaten here on 8÷29÷15 Saturday night and food poisoning symptoms ensued hours later, please post. I had the strangely sour miso soup, shrimp Katsu curry, and a couple of rolls from belt.

Trendy, but basic. I suggest this restaurant if you’re not«deeply» into sushi. They have tuna, yellow tail and salmon. My idea of sushi includes jumbo sweet shrimp, scallop and squid. Yo Sushi doesn’t have these, but it’s visually attractive. You can sit in a booth or at the bar, but either way the seating is kind of high. I’m 5 foot 6 inches and my feet didn’t touch the floor while I was sitting in the booth. You can pick up packaged food in front and pay(to the left of the food storage). If you sit, a belt with food rotates around the restaurant on color-coded plates to indicate price(price chart is at your table). Take what you want off the belt, and order from a menu that stays at your table(rice, noodles, soup, hot dishes, or any sushi you don’t see on the belt). When you’re done, a staff member writes down how many plates you have, the color of the plates, and charges you accordingly. I recommend the unlimited miso soup, it’s good. Lots of scallions, tofu, seaweed, and refilled for free as you request for a flat rate of $ 3.00. I wish they wouldn’t use daikon to garnish(thinly shredded white radish). It stinks in my opinion, and has a foul, contaminating flavor that ruins some bites of the food. To get service, you have to press a button that says«HELP!» beneath a blue glowing stick at your table. The stick will turn red and an announcement calls out your table number to alert the staff to stop by.

I was a little apprehensive trying a sushi place at the Garden State Plaza, but I thought, what the hell, I’ve eaten every restaurant in the place. Let me just start off by saying that I understand this is a new restaurant and that there would be some flaws to the place. With that being said, the service was pretty bad. There was no real hostess when you wait in line to be seated. There was a man dressed in a suit that seated us and he was very attentive and knowledgable in explaining the functionality of the restaurant and its menu. If anyone in the Bergen County has every been to East Restaurant in Teaneck, this is very similar, only less popular. The restaurant décor seems to be very Asian influenced with a conveyer belt surrounding the restaurant with sushi plates for you to grab. However, going there at 8pm at night, you start to notice some of the plates that’s been on the conveyer belt for a while. On the conveyer belt, there were different sushi plates along with salads and dessert/fruits. I didn’t bother trying any fruits because why pay a price for a plate of fruit when I can get more at a supermarket(more on the prices later in the review). Anyways, after the explanation of how the restaurant worked, a girl came over and took our food order that we wanted to order off the menu. This girl didn’t bother telling us her name or taking our drink order, which I thought was weird. After a few more minutes of sitting there, our REAL waitress came and introduced herself and took our drink overs and reviewed what we ordered with the random girl. Our waitress was nice and came by often to check on us. While we were waiting for the food we ordered off the menu, I noticed a couple that has been waiting outside to get seated for at least 7 minutes. No one in the restaurant acknowledged them and they weren’t busy at all. If I was that couple, I would’ve most likely left after waiting that long to be seated with PLENTY of seats available. The food itself? Overall it was ok. There are options on the menu that allows you to order food hot food if you’re not into sushi. As far as the prices go. Definitely NOT worth it. Each dish you pick off the conveyer belt is determined by what’s in the sushi and the color plate that it’s on. The cheapest plate starts at $ 3 which I think is overpriced because you’re pretty much paying that for 6SMALL pieces of an avocado roll. Your typical California roll was $ 4, which is bizarre. Everything adds up really quickly if you’re not really paying attention to what you’re picking off the conveyer belt. Overall, I don’t think I would come back here for sushi. I’m much better off going to another sushi restaurant and ordering their specialty rolls and getting BIGDELICIOUS pieces of sushi for $ 12 – 15 than paying $ 3 for one or two pieces of sushi/sashimi. I would recommend you going to East Restaurant in Teaneck if you’re looking for a sushi conveyer belt experience.

I have been watching this place get built and was super excited to try it out. When we first arrived, we waited a few minutes before we were seated though the place was pretty empty. First off, this place is gorgeous on the inside. It looked spacious, it’s bright, it looked clean, there is an open kitchen and you can see the sushi chefs preparing the sushi. The booth we got was super spacious, which is appreciated. The waiter explained the ordering process, which just reminded me of East in Teaneck. However, what I LOVE is that they have a «HELP!» button. It lights up the blue rod at your table to red and calls at the waiters, «TABLE5!» so that they know to stop by. The waiter we had walked around a bit to make sure we were taken care of even if we didn’t have the rod lit up. Every thing is made to order, so it sometimes takes a while for certain dishes to come out, which is annoying when you’re strapped for time. If you’re really strapped for time, it may be best to just grab sushi off the belt. I tried the sesame garlic ramen($ 4.50), which was really meh. It didn’t look like the picture. The picture, the broth looked red. But the waiter was kind enough to bring me hot sauce and spices to add to it. BUT the problem was the broth was SUPER oily. Just too oily. I stuffed it down my throat because I didn’t want it to go to waste. For my sushi, I got the Salmon Selection($ 6) which had a few pieces of sashimi, sushi, and the roll. THISWASAMAZING. The fish was fresh and delicious. I loved it. This was my saving grace for the day and what makes me want to return eventually. I was upset that they ran out of salmon sashimi when I wanted more. They only had salmon sushi left. I sometimes like just the sashimi because I want to cut out the carbs. My friends also weren’t huge on the kitchen foods while the sushi definitely impressed. For 3 people(at least 2 – 3 plates each person), we only spent $ 38 before tip. So, it’s not that pricey as long as you’re not gorging yourself really. The most expensive plate is $ 7 each. Another fact that I love, the sushi on the belt have TIMES stamped on them on when they’ve been on the belt too long. It was sad to watch someone throwing out the sushi but at the same time, it guarantees freshness, which I liked. Definitely want to go back because I think once the kitchen gets their footing, this place will be out of this world — especially if the sushi was that good.

Yo Sushi is located across from the Carousel near Macys. The Sushi was fresh and tasty… but by no means«the best». My advise if you go… Yo betta bring Yo credit card cause those plates add up and Yo ain’t cheap! Spent over $ 100 for 2 people! It was a fun night out nonetheless.
