I’m sad that this place is closed. Great service. Wonderful food. We miss you! My fave: Filet Mignon Chicken Escargot — I like ordering it from here Garlic Fries

I heart Wine. I heart Crepes. this is the perfect place! I love it love it love it. It’s just because I am obsessed with dessert crepes and any kind of wine. It’s the perfect place to end a good night. I always recommend this place to friends on dates –heck I recommend it for the boyfriend to take me from time to time. I’ve never had a chance to try anything other than the dessert crepes, but I’ll tell you the wines are fun and plentiful. If you ask one of the servers or bartenders for a recommendation, you’ll be plesantly surprised when they bring you out a glass. Sit out on the patio and marvel at the goobers who are at the bar/club across the alley… sip your glass of wine and indulge in some crêpe goodness… guaranteed good times!

Hmmm… i expected the best but sadly it wasn’t so. The cabernet wine, good, french, affordable, $ 30. The crepes, delicious, somewhat pricey, very slow. The server/host/waiter, nice, friendly, somewhat attentive. The live music, umm… nice. «Nice» as in how a girl describes a guy she doesn’t have feelings for. The bruschetta, horrible. So it took about 2 hours for our crepes to get there. Maybe they went and got them from Belguim, or Crepeland, or wherever crepes come from, I don’t know. But our bottle of wine was almost gone before the crepes arrived, and may I mention that we were two lightweight girls drinking one bottle, so it did take us quite a while to get there. The bruschetta was served on bread so hard that I’m pretty sure it cracked a tooth in the back of my mouth. The cheese on the bread, direct quote from my friend, ‘tastes like puke’. Worst bruschetta I’ve ever had, and bruschetta’s kinda my thing, I order it everywhere. I wanted a place with live music, hopefully jazz, and I called ahead to ask if they did indeed have live jazz. Needless to say, it wasn’t what I expected. It was more like one guy on a saxaphone and one guy lightly strumming his guitar, and I could barely hear either one of them. Not so much live music, not so much live jazz. They barely existed in their corner, and had little influence or effect on the customers, who I think did not notice that the occasional chords weren’t coming from a cd. So, to summarize, the service was slow, the music eh, the crepes good, the bruschetta downright nasty. Sigh. Add one star for holiday cheer. Continue on my search for a nice wine ‘n jazz spot.

So during this LA visit, I managed to miss out on my Mexican food fix, but at least I ate some damn good crepes. My heart actually belongs to the crêpe place(is that even the name?) in old school Farmer’s Market(before the Grove took over and slaughtered the Fairfax area). But apparently the Crepevine Bistro is a suitable subsitute. I scarfed my mushroom and chicken crêpe as my entrée. The sauce was just sinfully delicious. And you can NEVER go to crêpe place and not order a nutella infested dessert crêpe. And if you go the whole 9 yards with the bananas and strawberries too, then more power to ya. That is exactly what we did. I would have enjoyed it a little more if it was slightly warmer. The service was fab. Cheery server. Funny server. Quick Server. Just how I like em. So fab, she got the full 20%. Woot woot. P. S. One review till my 100th– woooohooooooooo.

So romantic! We came here on a Thursday night after work. The place is nicely decorated and you feel like you’re in Europe seeing as it is located in an alley. We were seated at a cozy corner booth and candlelit table. The service was a little slow considering it was not that crowded, the only thing keeping this from being a 5-starer. the food was excellent, I highly recommend the pizza appetizer with pears on it.

The service was just absolutely Amazing! I was there with a friend of mine, and the hospitality of the place was just amazing, Not to mention that their food was so good as well. When we walked in it felt very cozy and very welcomed by the bartender and his friends, who apparently turned out to be the owner and his wife’s friends. They were recommending the dishes and they all turned out super great! The only downside… is that there is no restroom and you would have to travel through the scary alley to get there.(ok.it wasn’t that bad… but being spoiled Unilocaler I am. I had to point this out) But anyhow, I love Crepes and I’ve tried merely almost everywhere you can name in LA area… but this place was Stunning! They actually tasted like dinner not dessert!(Which many places fail to do) But anyhow, it’s an awesome place to go with first time dates Their sparkling wines are very fruity and delicious! Highly recommended to go when they have live music!

This is quaint little restaurant in an alleyway in Pasadena. You would normally just walk past it if you didn’t know about it’s location prior. A friend and I were walking through and noticed a little bit of activity in the alley. We looked over and saw this place and decided to give it a try. I was surprised to see that the restaurant was packed for lunch. The restaurant had lots of reviews from publications and Zagat(boo!) up on the walls, so you knew this place had to be good. The menu was pretty extensive, but I decided on the Monte Carlo sandwich with garlic shoestring fries on the side. They also placed a side of strawberry chutney. The sandwich was probably the best tasting sandwich I’ve ever had. That really is saying something. The quality and size was great. The strawberry chutney worked surprisingly well with the deep-fried sandwich(sprinkled with powdered sugar). The ham was juicy and retained its moisture due to the sandwich’s sealing nature. I completed the meal with a classic chocolate and strawberry crêpe a la mode(after all, this was a creperie). I was so happy at the end of this experience that I left a big fat 40% tip to our server. I am definitely a fan and will return with more friends.

I dragged my boyfriend to this place to try crepes for the very first time. To our surprise it was very tiny. Once we were seated, I felt like I was sitting next to a lot of strangers and I was invading their personal space. It was just a bit too cramped up inside. Yes, it’s dark and romantic but it’s also loud and I needed some space from the people next to me. I decided to go with their special for the day — Stroganoff crêpe and my boyfriend got chicken and mushroom crêpe. We were really hungry and eager to try it. For it being a small place, it felt like it took a long time to finally get our food. But once I got it and took the first bite, I was like«mmm so good». Then after several bites something changes. I started to get really tired of the taste. I realized it’s one of those things where it’s too much of a good thing. Like it’s very declicious but once you have it for a while, it almost gets too much and tiring. My dish was just extra salty for my taste and my boyfriend’s dish was just too creamy for his taste. Again, it’s just too much of a good thing. I also wasn’t very impressed with the service that we received. They didn’t check on us and they didn’t refill our drinks even though the glass was totally empty. On another note, they did have live music which was very cool. But the palce was already so noisy with everyone chatting, that I felt horrible that we could barely hear the musician. However, I would definitely try this place again and try something else on their menu. They do have a wide variety of crepes and I still have to try their dessert crepes too!

I am really sad to be writing this update, because Crepevine holds a special place in my heart — it’s the place where I met Wendy T. and Michael S. for the very first time. But when Wendy and I went last night, it was one of the worst meals I’ve ever had almost from start to finish. I will say that the host is very sweet, polite, and friendly,. He actually called us on Wendy’s cell phone to let us know when our table was ready so we could walk around Old Town. That’s great service… but that’s where the great service ended. We were seated at the WORST table in the house, in the back right next to the kitchen and the register. When we said we would rather wait for another table or go elsewhere, we were able to get switched to another table two seats away. Um, so why didn’t they just sit us there in the first place? Our waiter Jaime took our order. We started off with two glasses of a San Simeon Petit Syrah, which was both jammier and more astringent than I expected, and certainly not worth $ 13 a glass. The wine menu has changed noticeably, with far fewer French wines than were previously available. Wendy ordered the ceviche and a side salad; I ordered the French dip sandwich with a side salad. Wendy’s salad came out first and she wasn’t overly impressed. She said the ingredients just didn’t mesh well: the greens came with halved cherry tomatoes, kalamata olives, queso fresco-like cheese, and a mustard vinaigrette. I guess it was supposed to be Mediterranean-French-Mexican. When our main courses finally arrived — a good 30 – 35 minutes after we ordered — I was surprised to see that my French dip was a panini, since there was no mention on the menu that would be the case.(Don’t French dip sandwiches normally come on a French roll?) I was willing to give it a shot anyways because I was starving. Sadly, it was passable at best, but what took it down a notch was the au jus, which was beef bullion thickened perhaps with cornstarch. Seriously. There is no way it was au jus from the meat; it had a very distinct and salty bullion taste. Speaking of salty… my side salad was so salty it was like a deer lick. It was completely inedible; Wendy took a bite and actually had to spit it out. I would have mentioned this to our waiter immediately after tasting it, but he avoided our table from the moment he took our order until the time we flagged him down to get our check, at least twenty minutes after we were done eating.(Apparently he doubles as a bartender and decided that was more lucrative than providing table service to us.) When he was clearing our plates, I mentioned that the salad had been extremely salty. He didn’t seem fazed at all. His response was a blasé, «Oh, I’ll let the kitchen know.» Not, «I’m sorry» or «Let me take that off the bill.» In fact, our bill came moments later without any further acknowledgment from him that there was a portion of the meal so bad we couldn’t even stomach it. However, shortly thereafter, when our payment was already sitting on top of the check, someone else came by and said she had taken the side salad off our bill, which we did appreciate. I should note that we were really excited to eat there and especially for dessert — which almost EVERY table around us received free because of slow service, but wasn’t even offered to us(free or otherwise). We decided to forgo dessert because everything had been so horrible and we just couldn’t justify spending more money or time there. The meal ended up costing us $ 60 for horrific food and really uneven service. I feel like I’ve had better meals in airport lounges. Oh, by the way, they used to have an amazing guitarist who seems to have been replaced by a terrible lounge-style act. Seriously, in a quaint, romantic French bistro, who wants to hear«Piano Man» and then a super-tacky rendition of Billy Idol’s «Rebel Yell»? This used to be the one place I felt confident referring to people who were visiting Old Town. NEVERAGAIN.

I only came here for desert, but next time i’m definitely going to have to have lunch or dinner here as well. We walked up and down Colorado like 3 times looking for this place and finally found it when we decided to randomly walk down this alley. It’s such a cute little restaurant and i really like the look and feel of it. It’s pretty romantic/relaxing. The service was great and we had the nicest waiter of all time. I got a crêpe with nutella and bananas, and my boyfriend got the same but with strawberries also. They were both reallllly good and had an extremely generous portion of bananas and nutella, so i was very satisfied. But i do wish it was a LITTLE bigger. But i’m a fatass, i could eat 5 crepes and still want more. But i am definitely coming back here asap.

Do you ever walk through a ghetto-ish alleyway smelling of homeless vomit, then suddenly walk through a door into a cleanest, stylin’ french café with Amelie soundtracks playing on someone’s iPod and a smiling waitress offering a glass of wine? Yeah… that was fun. For a wine bar selection of food and wines, the prices were reasonable. The selection of crepes weren’t that exotic as you may imagine given the intense décor. They really try and shove the Frenchness into your gullet(or is it goulet?). The wine selection was fantastic. We sampled 3 different ones and did not break the bank. A very wide selection of varietals you’d expect like Chardonnay, Cabernet, Zinfandel… and then a handful of slightly random ones: Moscato d’Asti, Meritage, and an Italian-sounding one I had to Google later. When we went on a crowded weekend afternoon, there were only 2 waitresses with 10 active tables, 1 carry-outer, and 5 people at the bar. Despite being bombarded with customers, they were professional, courteous, always cheerful, and efficient with their wines and food. Awesome job, ladies.

I hate how some eateries use smelly towels to clean their tables, you know, those mildew smelling towels. After about 10 minutes the scent dissipated but it didn’t help my appetite. We stopped by for only dessert after our stomachs swelled up from El Arco Iris. I had the simple crêpe, we also ordered a strawberry with nutella, strawberry flambei concoction that we asked them to make(with added ice cream), and a moulin rouge I think. My simple crêpe with lemon juice, sugar and butter was good but did get a little boring about halfway. But I still did finish it by myself. Mostly everyone enjoyed their crêpe but a warning to those who like their crêpe without sauce drizzling or swimming it in, most of them are served like that here. +1 star for overhearing it was someone’s bday and bringing out a complimentary crêpe –1 star for forgettting that we asked for the special order strawberry crêpe a la mode and then pretending he didn’t hear us ask for it the first time around

I came with Natalie T. and Aileen V. for a girls night. We ate, we drank and we laughed … a lot: o) This place is a little hard to find because it’s in a alley way next to Jake’s. The easiest way to park is in the structure on De Lacey or on Fairoaks. It’s right in between. The staff was really nice and polite. Natalie T. forgot to mention our waiter though, he was quite a character and a little quirky. We got the Ceviche, Smoked Salmon, and Duck Con Fit Pizza. The ceviche had this weird mushy consistency but what were we thinking ordering ceviche at a crêpe place. The smoked salmon club was good and tasty. The pizza was the best, the crust was thin and had just the right amount of toppings. Not too much cheese, sauce or duck. There’s also a good selection of wines there and they were really nice about letting us sample it before we ordered. I think i went through 3 samples before deciding. To top off a great night we had the cinnamon crêpe a’ la mode for dessert. It was so good i wanted to lick all the sauce off the plate … lol.

I came here spontaneously with Aileen V. and Stephanie B. We wanted a girls night together and we all happened to get off work late so then we met up with each other in Alhambra. It was kinda late and luckily this place was opened unlike other places around here. We entered and the people here were really nice. They seated us and gave us the menus which looked so yummy. We got the — ceviche(not worth it here… it wasn’t that appetizing anyways, it was soggy) — Duck Pizza which was DELICIOUS!!! I loved it so much! It was my favorite!!! — The Smoked salmon club which was a surprise for us because we told the guy to pick one for us since we were so undecisive… REALLY good as well! — We each got a wine and we were all pretty happy with our choices — Then we got the cinnamon crêpe al la mode which was soooo wonderful… it really reminded me of cinnamon toast crunch! My favorite part was that we got to have a girls night and we did get a little loud but no one minded at all and the staff here was wonderful! Favorite part of the night was being silly with the girls here and no complaints! «My package got here really quick… Shanghai, CN is in what state? Connecticut?» «We need to take the international airport to chicago» I was orginally wanted to rate this a 4.5 star but since the ceviche wasn’t so great here i rounded down.

First off, I have to say that I HADNOIDEA this or the other place I mention below were here… and I live close by too… I met up with someone here. We had both already had lunch, so we decided on coffee. We originally met at Equator across the alleyway, but they did not have A/C and we voted to go to the Crêpe Vine instead, which the guy at Equator had no problem suggesting because of the lack of A/C and he was actually chilling out in there as well. We shared the Moulin Crêpe, which had sliced bananas, a rum sauce, and a nice big scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. As hot as it is today, the ice cream really hit the spot. I do have to say the crêpe was much better than at Acadie(apologies to my sister-in-law if you’re reading this) in Santa Monica. I would definitely love to come back for a meal and some wine. My companion said the duck confit flatbread pizza is good.

My husband is a crêpe lover and always on the search for such. Based on reviews, we decided to try The Crepevine. On the plus side … it’s a really cute little restaurant on an alley off of Colorado. We truly enjoyed the French Onion soup and the salad, both of which were recommendations to us by our waiter, Joe(who was also the bartender on this weekend afternoon). In fact he was a definite plus with his friendliness and good advice. On the minus side … we like food that’s well-flavored, and the two different crepes we ordered were definitely bland. Crêpe selection was limited.

Hate the fact that it’s hard to find good crepes in LA. Lovely that I was introduced to the Crêpe Vine by my good friend, E. First time out I had the Stroganoff Crêpe. It was ooey, gooey, delicious! The crêpe was perfectly done, the steak inside was tender and the sauce that they cooked it in to die for. So good! Second time out I had the Chicken and Chevre sandwich. Again, I was wonderfully happy and my taste buds were thanking me. I washed it down with a reasonably priced glass of champagne and topped it off with a crêpe suzette. You must try the crêpe suzette… After the great lunch I had last time, I headed off to Burke Williams and had myself a massage. Now what is better than bubbly, good food, and a massage. I’d say it was quite a perfect day. ETA: No longer carries a variety of crepes. They changed their menu to concentrate on «thin gourmet pizza.» I don’t understand as their name is CREPE.

I was a little afraid to set foot in this place, knowing that Jaggle had entered here. I kinda figured it would look like a porn set met Jerry Bruckheimer movie, blood, guts… other things. Instead we were introduced to a rustic, attempted French bistro feel, that seemed to work, dim, quaint, nice black lacquer bar, a couple of patio tables, and a short but interesting crêpe/sandwich/entrée of the french-ish sort sort of bistro menu. All the food was good. The Mac & Cheese had a nice cheesy flavor with a lovely hint of dry vermouth. Very tasty, the fries were clearly twice fried, and served with a wonderful aioli that made the ketchup they were served with seem useless. Clever server, charming even, great company, and a nice reasonable meal, romanticky and a good place to go in my repertoire if i can remember where it is.

Cute little wine bar nestled on Mills Place. The French Menu is full of imported cheeses, escargot, organic salads, sandwiches, and fabulous sounding crepes. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to try the food, I was full from the Jigglin Factory close by. Nice cute little place to visit, open until 2 am on weekends. They have a happy hour from 11 pm to 2 am with half price bottles of wine. OMG, can you believe it!!! I will visit again, the service was excellent and the interior cozy with short red booths aligning the walls with candle lit tables. The staff was so welcoming the patrons sat around and shared stories and exhilarating history and music facts. :) I think I am gonna try this happy hour… I like my wine… and half price sounds awesome!
