I was craving pastrami and came across The Place on Unilocal.Once I saw the truck was gonna be near me I marked it on my calendar. Boom the day comes and I rush there and I am the first in line. I had the pastrami burger and the chili fries with pastrami and it was pretty darn good! I told my brother about it so we made a trip back to the truck and he ordered The Place burrito and that was good too. If they are in your hood I recommend giving them a try.

Reunited, and this time it was even better. Ordered The Place Burrito and it was damn good. The sausages, pastrami, chili, cheese,(other ingredients I missed) all mixed together was for sure pure gratification. I love their food because it is hazardous to your health… OH yeah!

The customer service was absolutely amazing! I tried it for the first time for dinner last night, and I was extremely pleased by the customer service that James and Marcus provided. I ordered a hamburger, and they realized after my credit card got charged that they were out of burgers, so they apologized PROFUSELY and then offered to make anything else on the menu for me. They recommended the Pastrami Melt, so I decided to go with it. They also threw in free fries and a drink and kept apologizing while my Pastrami Melt was being made. Then, as if they hadn’t apologized enough already, they wrote«Sorry Amy» on the bag with a sad smiley. So cute! The Pastrami Melt was SOYUM. It was so filling I could finish only half of it even though I was super hungry. It was warm and just so delicious, my stomach felt comforted and happy. James and Marcus are amazing amazing amazing at customer service! I will definitely be ordering more from this food truck — hopefully next time I’ll get to try their burgers! =)

Ok so I really wanted to like this place. A new food truck by jefferson and orchard, perfect for dinner after coming back from late class. Good prices, big portions, friendly staff and good customer service from this food truck! And NOM, my carne asada + egg burrito was actually very tasty… UNTIL… I found eggshells. CRUNCHCRUNCH, grainy, I spit it out… then tried to give it a second chance and kept eating only to find MORE shells later… and at that point I just couldn’t get past the eggshell. Sigh… I was only halfway finished. It seemed like it had so much potential. The only reason I’m not giving it one star is because it definitely does have potential. And I tried my friend’s grilled cheese pastrami sandwich. It was quite good but she couldn’t finish it and I probably couldn’t have either. It kinda screamed heart attack with its buttery bread, thick oozing cheese and bunches of pastrami. This is where too much is actually bad. But half of it was yummy! If I try it again, I might boost the ratings, because the pastrami sandwich was decent. But until then, DON’T PUTEGGSHELLSINMYBURRITO. I don’t like finding undesirables in my food…

Got a taste of my cousin’s order of Their special which was a pastrami grilled cheese sandwhich. Wow. Who can think of turning two grilled cheese sandwhiches into buns and putting pastrami between them as food. Awesome place and original ideas.

Pastrami cheeseburger: great cheeseburger, utterly flavorless pastrami. I couldn’t taste the pastrami at all. Fries: not bad. Ordinary, but a good ordinary. Drink selection: undistinguished. Service: acceptable. The regular pastrami melt and the pastrami hot dog might have been more rewarding, but judging from how flavorless my pastrami was on the cheeseburger, I’m not sure I could give this place a second chance. Still it wasn’t TOO bad…

One of the best known trucks in town is called the Grilled Cheese Truck. They are well-regarded on Unilocal, get their share of positive press and almost always have long lines. I’ve enjoyed their sandwiches and gave them a nice review myself, but the fact is you can get a better grilled cheese at The Place LA truck. I had one in WLA the other day. It’s simple, sourdough, a slab of cheddar and incredible amounts of crisp bacon. The folks who run this truck know that simple is better. It’s seems a tad pricey at 5 bucks for such a simple sandwich, but I can see it being 10 or 11 dollars at a decent coffee shop. Today, I had a bacon cheeseburger in Burbank. My expectation were high because the grilled cheese was so awesome, and while the burger was good; it didn’t quite earn the 5 stars. While it was tasty, the patty was on the small size, and the bacon wasn’t so generous. I paid $ 5.50 for essentially an In-N-Out single, with a little bacon smuggled in. They also use sesame buns, not my favorite. OK I’m nitpicking, but I’ll keep going back for the grilled cheese. With bacon of course. «Gourmet Food Truck #20 on my never-ending quest to try every truck in So Cal»

My gf and I tried this truck at the OC Foodie Fest — that’s how we roll. Waited about 25 minutes to order and get our food(which is relatively a short wait in comparison to other trucks). We wanted to try several trucks so we only got the Pastrami Cheese Fries. Pastrami Cheese Fries — 5 stars! Dammmmnnnn the fries were so good. Cheesy, good quality and amount of pastrami, and they put horseradish on it as well. Mouth watering indeed. This place is worth trying– the fries were amazingly good and probably my favorite truck of the entire OC Foodie Fest. Thank you The Place

Tried the pastrami cheese burger and the double bacon cheese burger. It was good, just nothing special or anything I can’t get from any old taco truck. The burgers were a bit over cooked. The fries needed more salt. Maybe I will try the pastrami melt next time that looked good. I have a feeling most people who now frequent these food trucks never used to eat at the regular trucks around(usually sketchier parts of) town. Because I swear those originals are still the best. Greasy, salty, buttery goodness. Can’t be beat!

Well how should i start this… O. K… When we last left kiddies, our super friends found them selves at K1 browsing the many food trucks and their irresistible menus. Our next stop on this little venture took us to a truck called The Place L.A. After scanning their menu I decided to go with the carne asada and egg burrito. When I got the burrito it looked and smelled amazing. The meat was well cooked and not over done, and the salsa they put in the burrito was perfect. Just the right amount of heat and not over bearing to where the salsa takes over the taste. The egg in the burrito I could have done without. Not a real big egg guy, I thought it didn’t do anything for it. I took most of it out, but you might like it. What really made the whole thing was the meat. Well cooked, not over salty or burnt. Also I recommend splitting it with someone as I thought they were kinda big and it’s probably more then one person should eat. The staff I noticed was very friendly and personable. Overall it was a great experience. I definitely will be back. And maybe then, I will try the pastrami with what ever(they put it on just about everything).

So once again I found myself @ The Place LA truck for lunch. I was leaning towards their Place burrito because I really enjoyed it last time, but at their recommendation, I tried the Pastrami & Egg burrito. The Pastrami is excellent and with the cheesy goodness and eggs it was just a really nice burst of flavor in my mouth. So far, I have not had anything that did not taste great from this truck. So I have decided to bump them up another star. I never really was a big fan of Pastrami before… but theirs is pretty freakin’ tasty.

Holy pastrami mother of cheese and fatty goodness! I have never ever had a pastrami quesadilla and The Place has forever set the bar high for the next improbable time I ever eat one. The quesadilla was HUGE and spilling off of the plate. It was piping hot with the cheese melting and gushing out of the tortilla. I’m not sure what kind of salsa or tomatoes they were using but it was a perfect compliment to the meat.(I think I remember a faint hint of mustard?) Now I hardly ever have pastrami or even crave the taste. But this truck has seriously made me think about how to recreate this indulgent comfort food on the little island of Oahu. Service was great and fast and they provided a cute table with a Connect Four set to play with. I was very glad that I chose to forego the healthy salad and veggie trucks that were parked right behind it. I guess The Place is usually in Pasadena? If you’re lucky, you’ll catch them on Wilshire in front of the E! building which is where we were at the time. Yummy yummy. I look forward to chasing them down in the future.

Spotted this truck at the LB food fest, just like every other lucky foodlover out there. They serve good ol’ american comfort(aka deliciously greasy) food. Burgers, hotdogs, chili, pastrami, they’ve got it all, and they hash it out pretty well. Got pastrami cheese fries here. Each individual element was really yummy except for the mustard they topped the whole dish with. I wouldn’t make this an absolute stop at a food truck fest because I can surely get the above foods elsewhere without having to stand in line for an hour, but definitely not bad either.

W-O-W Yummy yummy in my tummy! They stopped by our office(Yahoo! Burbank Office) last week and were a total hit! Most of my co-workers order the pastrami melt! Oh man oh man! That’s some good stuff! We have several floors in our building and I think that the smell of pastrami was on every single one of them. They were totally cool about stopping by our office after we emailed them to see if they would. I also heard that the pastrami dog and pastrami fries were a big hit too! We can’t wait for them to stop by again. It was their first time in Burbank and hope it won’t be the last. Totally recommend trying it out for yourself. They post their schedules on their website. YYYYaaaahhhhhhooooooo!!!

Pastrami sandwiches always tastes better inside yellow paper(with the exception of Langers and Capriottis) Just when i thought i could never eat a pastrami sandwich without coleslaw and russian dressing, The Place LA changed my mind with their pastrami melt. The bread was nice and buttery browned. The pastrami was plenty and juicy good. The only i had to complain about was that i shared it instead of getting a whole one for myself! i can’t wait to try everything else they offer! Especially that hot dog pastrami burrito thing!

I came back to this truck when I came for the Downtown LA Artwalk. I ordered their Pastrami Sandwich with extra«crack sauce»(their special homemade mustard) and it was ridiculous. The flavors just popped. The pastrami was thick and juicy. I walked down the artwalk, I got mustard all over my face, and I just didn’t give a damn. Order it just like that and you’ll be addicted like me. I’m not sure if it’s psychological, but the sandwich seemed bigger to me today. They definitely deserve the upgrade from 4 stars to 5.

I’ve had this massive craving for a cheeseburger and when i heard about how amazing they were here, I couldn’t wait until I had the opportunity to make the drive out to Pasadena and see a good friend on her lunch break. I’m also in love with carne asada tacos and when I saw them on their neatly organized and welcoming menu, I suggested we split the cheeseburger and get 2 small tacos. They offer red and green sauce, it’s hard to tell which one was spicier because I put both on my taco. They are either $ 1.25 or $ 1.50 I can’t remember for sure. The cheeseburger was $ 4.50, it’s nothing super fancy and fits in your mouth perfectly but you can tell that a lot of thought was put into this burger. It has some crazy homemade mustard that isn’t too spicy or strong but just well flavored. The burger itself does get pretty soggy at the bottom but it was so good I didn’t even mind the soggy bread and I was almost sad that I decided to get one burger to share but I was pretty stuffed after the half burger and taco. I also noticed they had a spicy grilled cheese that they put jalapenos on and I was informed that they use fresh jalapenos in their grilled cheese so when I asked for jalapenos in the burger I thought they would be fresh but they did put in the pickled ones. They also have fried jalapenos you can ask for on the side. I think they are the picked jalapenos and other places they deep fry fresh jalapenos but they were still nice and smokey and accompanies the burger well. I also had my dog with me and asked for a bowl with some water and he was nice to give me a bottle water to give to my pup. she probably enjoyed the ice cold water more than a dirty bowl of warm water. I would love if they were on the westside but it’s a good reason for me to make the drive out to Pasadena when I do have the free time.

Plan to wait… and wait. and wait… You are better off calling your order in and then grabbing it if you are short on time… other than the wait, I was pleasantly surprised with The Place. I decided to really splurge for lunch and got a Pastrami Cheeseburger combo with drink and a huge portion of fries for $ 8. The pastrami was deliciously cooked– not oily, not too dry. Perfect. The fries were also seasoned very well. The best thing about the Pastrami Cheeseburger was this mustard sauce… it’s awesome. It makes the sandwich! Joe, the guy that works in the truck is a great guy, very friendly. Portion isn’t as large as other places, but for me it was just right. I would recommend this if you’re looking to try something different in the Pasadena area for lunch!

Heard about this truck from my sister who heard about it from her friend(word of mouth is the best advertising). They were in the neighborhood(Pasadena) which is one of their usual spots, so I ventured out for some lunch. What I liked about their location was that parking was easy and there was NOLINE! at the peak of lunch hour! Every other truck has a mile long line and parking is such a nightmare(Kogi) Ordered the breakfast burrito and the pastrami dog. Both were DEEEELICIOUS! The breakfast burrito didn’t taste greasy or heavy at all. The ingredients tasted fresh and I didn’t feel like I’d get sick after =) The pastrami dog was delightful although not being a fan of mustard, I felt the mustard was a little overpowering at times. Otherwise, it was great. Overall, this truck is a winner. If I worked in the area I’d definitely be eating here often.

So whats the crazy CRAZE about roach coaches?! We’ll I guess you really have to try this local joint — The Place to figure it out. I mean I’m not much a taco truck, roach coach, cater food truck type of girl… probably none has satisfied by taste quality in collaboration with my super cheapness. So yes, I definitely recommend this place if you’re in Pasadena area! I found this place from a friend that found this place via twitter. Location: Pasadena(Not South Pasadena =/, wish they could but I think they’re sticking to their true Pasadena fans). They move around alot so I guess track them via twitter? DM or twitter them to see how long they stay, or else you lose out of some tasty deals they have =/ Food: Sandwiches, Tacos, Burgers/Fries, Breakfast foods & Dumplings too! So basically American food with a dish of dumplings. So I tried the Tacos — SUPERAWESOME! SERIOUSLYBESTDEALYOUCANFIND. Its fresh, but its huge! Its twice almost 3x the meat amount in it! — for only $ 1.50, I paid $ 2 at the Fair Oaks one for half the size. People: They seem to bring a fun crowd. The owners are pretty chill, get to know they and they’ll let you in on whats good. Parking: They were at a location with plenty of parking. So what else is there to pick on these guys? Not sure, they have seriously probably the best looking taco truck I’ve seen — nice design. Think this taco truck industry is really going gourmet, nice quality in taste and in appearance. My Feedback: Make some wraps? I love some healthy wraps, totally would pay a good amount for wraps. =)
