the best hero shop in the area and the people are always nice. Many different flavors so you won’t get tired of any one thing.

So I just moved here from Michigan and my BF brought me here for a quick lunch. First, there is nothing, absoluty nothing like this in Michigan. This tiny hero shop has a quaint feel when you first walk in, and the sandwich choices can be… overwhelming. But after finally choosimg the Long Islander, we were helped by the most friendly and welcoming man. I also ordered a cup of their soup of the day, Lemon Chicken. Everything was delish! I will make this a regular stopping place! If you haven’t tried it, its a must!!!

Chicken cutlet club hero was so delicious and fresh. I got a half a hero should have gotten a 12 inch. Yum.

You have got to try this deli. Food is fresh, portions are generous and the service is fast. Make sure to order a hero with«the works». Everything is delicious. Love this place, I will be back.

I don’t get why they are so busy!!! It’s a decent sandwich, but pre-sliced meat skeeves me out. There is really no need for pre-slicing. Come on Subway pre-slices. I know they do it so they can make a sandwich quickly. Corner Hero in Selden is still #1 in my book.

Patchogue is home to a couple food feuds so to speak, and TJs finds themselves amidst one of their own, just down the road and around the bend sits a lesser frequented spot called«my hero.» Most will go to TJs and I would have agreed, however we’d be wrong in discounting their opposer. I’ve always held TJs with a bit more esteem, however recent years have shined new lights on the feud in my book. I’ve had endless mistakes from TJs and they aren’t met with such a friendly fix either. They raise the price every year and as I feel they lower the quality of service. The service at my hero is not better per-say but they are consistent in that regard. Speaking solely on TJs the Heroes are good, they used to be great. The service used to be great as well but I don’t feel that way at all anymore. They have a new mango black tea which is good but unsweetened, I mix it with their more traditional, tooth decaying, sugary-sweet deli tea, for a twist on a classic. You’ll pay a bit, but it’s sorta worth it. 3.5 stars in my book but I’ll give them the fourth for old times sake. Gotta love their stealth sauce, the Manhattan on a good day, and I get the waste watcher and add bacon, they always make the same joke that they’ll make it, but have to change the name, I say, call it the Doug and add stealth sauce too, but hell, why not put it on the menu with some fried onions too or pickles even! Name it the waist buster. Ok, all in all, TJs is good. But there’s always a wait and usually a mistake.

Went for a Louisiana Lightning and ranch chicken sandwich. Both were excellent. Bread was nice and fresh and soft and chewy. The Louisiana lightning had a nice kick but wasn’t too spicy, so if you’re a heat wimp it’s still enjoyable. My only draw back was they put on a little too much oregano for my liking as it seemed to over power the rest of the sandwich. The ranch chicken was delicious nice ranch flavor but not oozing too much dressing. Definitely will be back.

Hands down the best hero place I’ve ever been to, and«sandwich» is my favorite food. If you’re ever in any of the areas where there is a TJ’S and you haven’t yet tried them, you’re doing yourself an injustice by not stopping in. When you do go in, try the Louisiana Lightning, Chicken Cutlet Club, or Super Club. I think what sets them apart from all other delis is their bread, but the deli meats are all fresh, and the flavor combinations with their sauces(e.g., stealth sauce) are unbeatable. I always tell my friends: if I’m having a bad day, TJ’S makes it better. If I’m having a great day, TJ’S makes it better. Moral of the story — TJ’S makes the best sandwich you’ll ever eat. You’re welcome.

When you say you want a hero… It’s what comes to mind… Fresh, quick and delicious … You cannot lose with the menu… Boars head cold cuts and perfect hero bread… And always Hellman’s mayo… A true Long Island sandwich… ice tea in a styrofoam cup, it’s what summer is all about! Call ahead so you don’t have to wait because it’s always busy!

im sure everyone jumps to how good the hero’s are and believe me they don’t disappoint. However I will have to say my favorite thing about this place. wait for it. the Ice tea. If you order a hero and don’t get a ice tea we aren’t friends. You also cant go wrong with the specials they have daily like the Wednesday two hero’s for 15 dollars, worth it.

We got sandwiches here recently. They offer full subs and half size at half the price. A half sammie is definitely filling enough for one person, but the full one is lots of food, great if you’re really hungry. The selection of sandwiches is pretty awesome too. Nothing too out-there, just great classic deli-style sandwiches. Prices are fair too. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the mood for a good sandwich.

We’ve lived in Patchogue for 14 years and would never go anyplace else for heros. The folks who run the place, and the employees, are friendly, super-efficient, and fast as heck. They are in the dictionary under«multitasking». Our favorite sandwich is the Italian Hero with everything… the bread is perfect, the ratio of meat to lettuce and onion is perfect, the tomatoes and coldcuts are sliced so thin you can see through them, and their vinegar to oil ratio for the dressing is — again — perfect. The sandwich retains its form when you eat it — there’s no stuff falling out when you take a bite, because it’s been well constructed. You do have to open your mouth wide to eat it, because they don’t skimp on the goods! People who complain about the seating or the size of the place are completely missing the point. It’s like going to your favorite hotdog stand or pizza place or taco stand… you don’t go there expecting«ambiance» or white linen napkins. You go there for the food, because they do it better than anyone else. The reason it’s crowded or busy is because they make awesome sandwiches! Everyone is friendly, and even if you have to wait in line, the fact that the people behind the counter are building amazing sandwiches at mach speed means that you’re only in line for a very short time. If you’re that picky, just call in your order ahead of time and it will be there waiting for you when you arrive. People who complain about cash only are probably the same people who complain about the noise at a rock concert. Every business has rules and operates a certain way. Just bring cash. It’s not hard. If you really can’t remember that, they have an ATM in the store. If you don’t want to pay the ATM fee, BRINGCASH. See how easy it is? Either way, you get a delicious sandwich, fast, from a great place. Win-win!

#25 with works with extra hot and sweer peppers!!! It is my go to hero. It is an Italian cold cut hero with lettuce, tomato, onions, sweet and hot peppers, oil and vinegar, salt pepper. I have been going there for as long as I can remember. It is a great place to stop and get heros on the way to the beach, ball game or a night off from cooking. My wife and kids usually get one of the hot hero’s. They love them too!!!

TJ’s Hero Shop II(TJ2)is a perfect example of the power of Unilocal.I have to go to a baseball game for my son at St. Josephs Spots Complex in Patchogue, and my older son is hungry. I jump on Unilocal and punch in Find Cheap Eats inn Patchogue, and TJ2 leapt off the page with its excellent reviews. Looking from the outside, I doubt I would have ever given this place a shot. But Unilocalers know what they are doing, so in we go. I order the #25 full schmear Italian Hero. My son orders a #15 Big Steer, a meaty cheeseburger tucked into a hero bun. Every great sandwich has one thing in common. The bread. TJ2 uses great, incredibly fresh bread. A hero so soft it would double for a sponge. Pack it with incredibly fresh pepperoni, salami, cappy and provolone, lettuce, tomato, onion, oil &vinegar, salt & pepper and a special order of just few hot peppers and you are talking a meal fit for Columbus. Everything has to be crazy fresh. We were there 15 minutes at 6PM and we saw at least 30 sandwiches go out the door. My son killed the Big Steer. He loved the whole ‘Burger in a Hero’ thing until he was left speechless. I also happen to be a total Pepsi guy, and the fridge was full of Pepsi products. Yay me! And the woman behind the counter tried some shameless flattery asking if ‘my brother’(my son) was going to have a soda also. If you are in the area, stop in. You won’t be disappointed.
