So granted my bro and I ordered something not really on the menu, chicken shawarma, it should have been better. The chicken tasted as if it was marinated in Italian dressing instead of the amazing Mediterranean spices and flavors I expect from an authentic joint. Also to my dismay the rice pudding lacked so so much… flavor, texture, and no cinnamon! The atmosphere is everything you would expect when going to a restaurant on Main St. in Paterson. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all about divey places, but you need to redeem yourself with amazing food at the very least.

The telephone number listed is for another restaurant, where the food isn’t even close to the original. To experience the real Aleppo Restaurant, call 1−973−977−2244. Open 7 days from 10 a. m to 10 p.m. The rating is for the real restaurant, not the pretender.

Went with the family on a Friday evening. Wonderful food, wonderful staff. Décor was OK. If you are ever in area or are craving Arabic food, this is one place you must try. I lived in the Gulf countries for several years and the food at Aleppo is down home cooking. Chicken was tender and the mixed grill was out of the world. I was longing for«Foul» a breakfast dish and this one was authentic to the aroma and texture. Cannot say more. Love it!!! David

Don’t believe the hype! Ordered the grilled kibbe and bbq quails. Kibbe was obviously frozen and microwaved. Quails were ok, but not worth the $ 12. Service here wasn’t the greatest. The waitress kept yelling ‘What?’ when I tried asking questions about the food. For appetizers I was given cold flat bread still in the plastic wrapper. I was, also, given a bottled water instead of ice water and I got the wrong change after paying the bill. Place was clean, though.

Excellent Kebabs Wonderful Owner Great Traditional Syrian Cuisine Chuck A. turned me on to this great place located in a decidedly Middle-Eastern section of South Paterson, this restaurant stands out for it’s comfortable atmosphere and accommodating owner. We focused on the appetizers to get a diverse sampling of what Aleppo Restaurant had to offer. We may have over ordered just a bit but the leftovers where a nice treat later in the day. Clean, fast and artfully presented the whole experience was a cultural home run. I actually took notes from the on-line menu to bring with me to avoid confusion with the menu and my ever changing desires. Funny note is that Mohamad(owner) came to our table and engaged us in cheerful conversation about his food and said«A lot of people come here with notes on what they want to order» I pulled my cheat sheet out of my wallet and said«So did I» We had a laugh and he went on to explain his sources of fine ingredients which made me feel confident that Aleppo is one great Authentic Restaurant. I uploaded plenty of photos to give others an idea of the scope of flavors in this Authentic Eatery.

If you are from Halab/Aleppo and you really miss some home cooking this is the place to go. Their fried kibbe with pomegranate and grilled kibbe was phenomenal. The only reason I did not give this 5 stars is the place is not the nicest looking of restaurants. But food is great
