Reds rootbeer has pretty good food, pretty good service, and a great atmosphere. You are almost certain to meet the owner while there and he will make sure you have the chance to try his all meat chili. The Chicago dog is good but the chili dog is amazing. Would definitely eat there again!

A great place to sit outside and eat. Food is also fresh and the owner always come by to thanks everyone for stopping by. A must place to stop by when you are out this way. The 60s music playing is a bonus.

Great place. Foot long hotdogs are to die for and the fries are so good. The atmosphere is great. It’s a great drive in. Employees are very nice and always ready to help.

Great atmosphere, super chill and tasty. Root beer is great and comes in a frosted mug. Google hours were wrong, said it closed at 8 but it actually closes at 9(maybe it’s summer hours?). Glad we saw the sign, this was better and way more fun than Subway.

Homemade Root beer plus the greatest Chicago Dogs we’ve had this side of Chicago. Eat at pick nick tables or enjoy curbside service at Red’s. We drive almost 80 miles to enjoy the hard to find true«Chicago Dog». Lots of other good stuff on the menu as well. If you like dogs you’ll love Red’s!!!

I used to love this place and look forward to visiting when we went through Paw Paw, but I had horrible service tonight. I tried twice to ask our server how long the order would take. We waited 25 minutes and couldn’t get her attention. I know it was busy, but we had somewhere to be and had to walk away from $ 17 of food, because the server couldn’t tell us how long it would take. The food was awesome the last time I had it, but we won’t be back. No reason for hot dogs to take that long. We didn’t order fries on purpose.

The best part about this resturaunt is the owner! He is a very kind man and if you do not like your order he will make it right. The rootbeer is good! He makes it himself. My favorite thing on the menu is the Italian beef. If you like it spicy, ask for extra peppers. The fries arent fantastic, but they are hot and fresh. This is a great place to take the kids after a soccer game or for a nice outdoor meal.

Great old style drive-in Root Beer Stand. Very busy on a beautiful evening in the summertime. Love the chili sauce and the meaty foot long hot dogs. The only issue that I have had is needing to pay ahead of time. Once you order, they bring your bill to you and stand at your window waiting for payment. This is uncomfortable for me. Some of the car hops are great, while others seem to struggle. My tip usually changes upon each visit. For example, they have one car hop that is not very friendly and my tip reflects this. She may receive 2 or 3 dollars when the friendlier staff receives 6, 7, or up to 10 dollars. I suggest taking cash with you. You can pay with credit card, but I know some people are not fans of tipping prior to the service. I wish they would change this policy. Red… I hope you read this. Your food is great, but the service needs some attention.

Good fast service, fun environment. Just a bit pricey though. Reminds me of days passed. Nice place to visit.

Fast service with a smile! My waitress was amazingly nice and spot on! She gave me three recommendations: the Chicago dog, chili cheese dog, olive burger, bacon cheeseburger and the philly beef. Ok that’s more then 3 — but they were all her favorites! I got the chili cheese dog, Cole slaw and fries — all were good! Plus I got the home made root beer — very good! How can you pass up a one of a kind drive in?! You can’t!

Gamechanger. For 30 years I struggled to find a decent meal on M40 until this place popped up. It is an absolute must-stop for anyone looking to grab a quick bite that is freshly prepared to your liking. I’d recommend the burger, the italian beef was good but not in the same stratosphere as the burger. To top it all of, Red is on site and his staff is very courteous. A top notch joint.

Reds is a great hot dog stand, just a little pricey for hot dogs. Service is excellent, and the homemade root beer is very good. Just need to restructure the pricing.

Awesome old fashioned hot dog stand! Drive up and dine in your car or sit at a picnic table in front of your car. 50s music, cold root beer mugs, and truly good hotdogs and fries. I got the Chicago Style pictured. Yum! This will now be a must on our trips to Chicago!

The food here is very good. We just came back from a trip to Chicago and felt this food was just as good without the drive. They have homemade rootbeer which is fun and the owner even came to our car to check on our service and make food suggestions. It was busy and hopping for lunch. We were so glade we stopped here and not the chain restaurants next door. The only negative is the price. The dogs are about twice the cost of the famous ones in Chicago. I guess with no local competition they can charge customers more.

Found Red’s while on a road trip with a bunch of family to a wedding in Paw Paw and boy what luck! Super cool drive-in, tray on you window, root beer coney dog joint. We sat at the picnic tables under the big awning and it was just perfect. The staff was friendly(we met a few too!) the food was picture perfect very tasty. I had the coney basket and loved it. They make their own root beer that has a slight vanilla taste that is also delicious. Our whole family had fun and enjoyed.

Considering I live only a short drive from here it’s really unbelievable that this was my first visit. It’s actually my daughter who’s been begging for me to take her after she stopped with friends once before. So after a day at the beach we be ventured over for lunch. Service was very quick and friendly, all the servers looked to be younger high school age kids which made their service more impressive. Friendly, attentive, and always buzzing around clearing tables, trash, even sweeping in the lot. Kids had hot dogs, fries, and onion rings, and they enjoyed every bite. I tried the diet root beer, very good, and a Chicago Dog. It was fantastic, just the right amount of everything with a very delicious poppy seed bun. The menu is huge and we’ll be back again to try more. I highly recommend giving Reds a try!

Loved this place! We were driving through Michigan and I saw this stand. The food was great and the service was amazing! My mom was visiting from Europe and she definitely enjoyed the experience. Even my dogs got to try some delicious hot dogs. I would definitely stop by there again! Just feels authentic!

Believe it or not, Red’s in Paw Paw, MI deserves the 5 stars! How rarely have you seen, or eaten at, a Unilocal! 5-star restaurant? Face it America, a great hot dog is every bit as satisfying as a gourmet meal. So especially if you limit hot dogs, and no doubt if you live on ‘em, if you are between Chicago and Detroit on I-94, stop at Red’s Root Beer in Paw Paw, and you will have a special hot dog occasion. Red’s dogs do their tricks perfectly — Best of Breed, in the only«dog show» that counts on Unilocal! Throwback to old-fashioned drive-in hospitality and energy is a given. But the food is king here, too. Grew up on Chicago dogs and always start there, and have lived in Michigan with good Detroit and Flint Coneys. But decided to gamble, and won with the house special Red’s Deluxe. This is one dog that is not only delicious, but different without trying too hard. Just try it. A different take, but true to heritage. And, one of the best buns I’ve seen to carry the load, including a great smoked Vienna dog, shredded pickles, diced tomato and onion, mustard and a little bit of – mayo(DONOT«Hold the Mayo» — it is the perfect finishing touch).
Also: Home made root beer, check. Fries are crispy and hot and stay that way. Get a new leash on life — stop at the Paw Paw exit, and run with the big dogs at Red’s. Remember: while Red’s may be in the fruit belt of Michigan, don’t forget the food group that includes hot dogs.

Saw their advertisement for a veggie dog so I had to stop in to try it! Being vegetarian I usually have to pass up drive ins like this unless I want to eat various fried sides. The waitress was super friendly and accomodating. I got«Red’s Veggie Dog Basket» it came with french fries and a side of coleslaw or apple sauce. The hot dog came with ketchup, mustard, onion, and relish on it and was absolutely delicious! The basket costs a little under $ 7. Very well priced, vegetarian meat items are usually marked way up. Will definitely be making this a regular for lunch time!
