Worst customer service ever! Received 2 under-cooked chicken breast platters and when returned to complain the manager refused to refund me or to replace it even though I had my receipt. Don’t know what’s worse, the food or the management!

This place was odd. Ordering was difficult, and the the help wasn’t much help at all. I ended up with a dish that had three different meats on it. Really it all tasted great, but it was screaming for a tortilla. Maybe this is an anti taco, taco establishment? If they gave me some tortillas with the plate it would be 4 stars. But leaving me to eat random meats wishing for a taco… just kind mean really.

They get no stars from me. I was a first time patron and was extremely disappointed by the rude woman that took my order. It started pleasant, but in asking questions about the menu, she got upset with me and displayed an unattractive attitude. Kept my money and went to Popeye’s

I came here for the first time today for lunch and it was awesome! Corn Soufle was fantastic! I usually don’t like dressing-type food but it was really good! The calypso beef came with these pickled pink onions and together they were so yummy. The sour and the savory was an awesome combo. My friend got the quesadilla wrap and while the flavors were perfect, it could have been filled a little more. Food was all served hot and the service was awesome. They helped us order things that we would like and gave honest and helpful opinions about the food so we could get just what we liked. Will be visiting again.

The food is great, the service is great. The sauces are awsome. The employee are very helpful as it was our first time there. They cook the food to order so there is a bit of a wait. We waited for a while, but the manager gave us complementary appetizers for the wait. Overall a great experience and I definitely recommend it.

Great food. Great service. Needs a lot of cleaning. We entered the delightfully smelling establishment with a smile on our faces until *squack* our feet stuck to the floor. That’s pleasant. The employee taking orders was extremely helpful when we told him we were new to Pollo Tropical, giving us recommendations based on his experience and our typical Mexican food preferences. We received our meals very quickly, but the constant *squick* *squack* on the floor was disgustingly irritating. The sauce bar is cool and the food was unbelievably flavorful. I will definitely be back… but I probably won’t go inside.

Cheap and delicious cuban fast food, so glad they brought this place from florida… it’s a new place, very nice tropical décor, they serve ropa, grilled chicken and beef in a combos where you get to choose 1 – 2 sides… the food was hot and freshly prepared and brought to your table, they have a self serve sauce bar and they even serve liquor here from beer to rum punches that are pretty strong So if u looking for some cheap cuban food, come on over, probably one of my favourite fast food places in houston

The only reason why I gave it 2 stars is because the chicken is really good. We normally do drive through and from all the times I have been there(a lot… I know, at this point I feel like a masochist) I have yet to receive the right order. They get my rice wrong, or they forget to put items in, the size of the sides are incorrect, the rolls are hard as a rock, corn soufflé burnt on the bottom… You name it. Also, I saw the person putting my order together with plastic gloves but then she takes the cash with the same gloves and she never takes them off to finish putting the items in the bag… Gross. Oh, and if you speak Spanish and want to get a good laugh, ask for Guayaba bars.

I wish this place was cleaner as I see the potential for it to do so well. However, on both visits, the tables were untidy. The chicken is pretty good and I like the variety of sides. I just want them to clean up!!!

Not bad, reminds me of Pollo Regio ¼ or ½ chicken with a side pretty basic good seasoning on the chicken. Sides I’m not to crazy about pretty bland. For 8 bucks might hit it up again but not something I would actually be searching for.

We have only went through the drive thru so I can not talk about the decorations or the cleanliness of the inside. The food, fall off the bone deliciousness. Everything was hot and amazing. I will say the only thing that we got that didn’t meet our expectation were the plantain chips… we had just got back from the Caribbean and had fresh plantain chips there. We would prefer them to be thin cut. But maybe that’s just our taste. *ANYWHO* it surly will not stop us from eating there.

This is a different type of food. I like it! I’ve tried a few menu items and I like the flavoring on the chick and pork. It’s an alternative to fried food. I like the sauce options offered at the bar.

The restaurant I used to love but since the turn of the new year the customer service has been the pits. Tonight I began to place my order with a young lady and she asked me to hold on. No problem. So then a guy gets on the intercom and he’s talking to the customer at the window so as I’m waiting not knowing if he was back to me he says«what do you want?» okay clearly he’s not talking to me so I wait thinking he would have enough sense to address customers correctly. He then yells«hello!!! Do you need help with the menu or something?» Wait, what??? No sir I’m gonna just leave. If this place doesnt hire new employees and train them on how to handle customers I don’t think it will last long. I’ve called the manager. She sounded like she was 16 and didn’t know what to do. I really hope they get it together. I love their food.

Well, Not the best of first impressions. We show up its Easter and there is one person in the dining room and I can’t imagine they’ve been super busy all day! Anyhow I was sliding across the floor, it’s almost like there is a film of grease. First appearance not great. We walk up to the ordering spot: cash register and the lady is in a blue shirt and she seems almost annoyed that we were there, then we ordered from a phot that was on the menu, she was«that’s a wrap» uhhhh. Well I know that which one? «The quesadilla, so we ordered that one Chris said no onions no tomatoes of any kind and she started listing off all the ingredients, so he repeated not tomatoes please… «Oh you don’t want tomatoes?» That’s what we said! Then while trying to decide the next menu item she turns around and starts talking the the guy behind the serving line. Hello. We are still here. I leave and walk around aimlessly looking for a restroom… There’s 3 people in the cooking area, the lady helping us at the counter, one walking around«cleaning»(I’ll get to that) and one sitting in the dining room on her phone. Finally after making a full lap around the dining area on the slicker than owl poop floor in heels I find the restrooms. So I come out and Chris finished ordering and I went to sit down and OMG I decided not to sit there and chose to sit across the table, which by the way was no better!!! Wearing white pants is NOT the best idea here! Anyhow remember when I said the gal walking around cleaning… It’s really a hopeless effort. The windows look GREAT actually but the rest… :( So sitting here waiting and the lady that took our order brought us our food and was not friendly at all! She was actually sulking and looked completely irritated again set out food down and walked away without a single word! So usually we get so many French fries we can’t finish so we decided to share one… Ha ha. We got 8 fries… No seriously 8 waffle fries I should have taken a photo. Anyhow the wrap was alright not great but not the worst I’ve head either. One thing is for sure we probably won’t come back or recommend this place to anyone.

Love me some Pollo! I’m from Miami so I know the Pollo menu well. Surprised to see new menu items that aren’t offered in South Florida. Since I was only visiting a friend in the area. i ordered a lot. had the Chipotle Chicken sandwich– delish, juicy and extra Chipotle sauce the fried plantains– made me really miss home ½ chicken dark with rice and beans– it was a lot of rice. i forgot to ask for more black bean and less rice. And the roll is now a Sugarcane roll that is grilled… Got lots of the sauces… curry mustard, cilantro garlic, guava BBQ… the secret to making ur pollo meal great is the right combo of sauces. Another new addition was the beer and mix drinks… Please open a location in Austin Pollo please!

I was in town for one night and cousins got us some food to go from here. I got the half chicken and wings combo with calypso beef. The calypso beef was recommended but it was meh when I had it. Must have been their off night. Their wings were the bomb! plaintains and their corn soufflé, yummy!!! don’t get any other sides! Pollo Tropical is popular in Florida I heard and this is their only location in Texas! Welcome! :-D please expand to Dallas. haha

There’s no denying it: the food is bomb. Everything that I’ve had so far has been good. I mean, you can’t really go wrong no matter what you choose. My favs, however, are the chicken soup, chicken quesadilla salad, and of course, those plantains! This would be a five star rating except one of the employees needed an ‘attitude check’ on my most recent visit. Apparently, I didn’t get to the counter fast enough when my buzzer lit up, so the divo(male diva) smacked his lips and huffed, ‘WOW!’ Then turned away before I could ask for additional condiments. I’m sorry, did you have somewhere else to be other than behind that counter? Luckily, the cashier who rang up my order stepped in to smooth things over because I’m not above going behind the counter, ya dig? Get it together.

Ah, to be back in Miami. A little bit of Miami has come to Houston, and that’s a good thing. I felt like I was back in my hometown the night I stepped in to the Houston area’s first Pollo Tropical. Now, this brand new Pollo Tropical is VERY different from the ones in South Florida. The crowds are bigger(after all, it just opened). It’s much cleaner(right now). The color scheme is different(up to date). They serve Coca-Cola products instead of Pepsi(that’s a good thing). I’ve never been to a Pollo Tropical where you had to wait to be seated. But it’s still Pollo Tropical. They still have their signature, tasty chicken that makes my mouth water every time I think about it. They still have their black beans and rice… not quite the same as what I’m used to in Miami, but I’ll chalk that up to just opening. They still have the soft, sweet roll that comes with that quarter chicken, white meat combo. Because that’s how I do it when I go to Pollo Tropical — quarter chicken, white meat with black beans and rice. They still have the sauce station with the curry mustard sauce and the guava bbq sauce, among others. They still have the tasty sweet plantains. They’ve got the fried yucca, and the tropichop combos. They’ve got everything that makes Pollo Tropical what it is. My only gripe: they need to recalibrate the soda machine, The Coke was way too sweet. But again I chalk that up to grand opening glitches. Hopefully this Pearland location does well, they expand, and open up one closer to me inside the loop. In the meantime, whenever I get the urge… I’ll be making the drive.

For those of you not familiar with Pollo, it’s FL Cuban fast food. Anytime we visit my husband’s hometown of Miami, our first stop is Pollo. Craving some black beans? They are tasty here. The calypso beef is new to their menu. I hope they bring over the regional favs of the guava chicken or the cheesy yucca bites. Try the plantains. Mix it up at the salsa and sauce bar. If we lived closer, we might just have a booth with our name on it. We’re happy to have you in TX now!
