Every once in awhile, you stumble upon a restaurant that makes you feel at home. Sue’s Sunset House is a casual restaurant with a friendly atmosphere that we will come back over and over. Sue makes you feel at home and the food was awesome. No fancy white table cloths, so leave your shirt and tie at home. We watched the sunset from our window seat and we will DEFINITELY be back. There is live music and I can’t wait for the spring so that we can sit in the garden listening to local musicians. Thank you Sue! Great food… Great service… Great atmosphere…

Good drinks great food prices compared to other locations in the Peekskill area. Friendly bartenders and the owner Sue is just awesome and does a good job running the show.

As Hastings residents, my husband and I are always on the lookout for great, relaxed places to eat along the Hudson since we like to take walks and explore. We drove up one day, attracted to Sunset House by the allure of the great BLT reviews and were not disappointed. Great sandwich, array of local beers and lovely folks. Uncomplicated and clearly a local favorite for all the right reasons. We’ll be back!

Sue’s Sunset House is a great place with a relaxed friendly atmosphere. I used to live nearby, and I miss being able to come here often! The food is quite good and the portions are generous. I especially like to coming on the first Friday of every month for the Best Buds Band featuring Jim Keneally and a host of other truly gifted musicians. It’s a little tucked out of the way, but well worth the trip. Why don’t I give it five stars? I guess I feel that’s reserved for the ‘white tablecloth’ type of establishment. But for a casual atmosphere with a friendly staff, good food and great music, you can’t go wrong with the Sue’s!

OK — — this place ‘ain’t no Taj Mahal. You want fancy? Go somewhere else. You want fun times, terrific patrons, WONDERFUL hosts, good times, and some of the best food any bar any where EVER served, then this is the place for you! We just discovered this place a week ago and it’s over 40 miles north of our digs in Manhattan, but we’ve already been back and plan to come back again often. Sue and Kerry and Alex(owner, co-owner bar wench, and chef in that order) are the best. Can’t say enough good stuff about this place. LOVEIT!

Had the best burger here! Absolutely delicious. Busy, fun, huge amount of beers on tap, the place had this quaint beer garden in the back, with the biggest umbrella I’ve ever seen! Loved it.

We really enjoyed our meal here. The food and beer were delicious. Upon arrival to town we had a few choices where to eat but are always looking for quality food and the Sunset had it for sure! It was not busy at all for a Friday night so we had our choice of tables(inside or patio dining). We both ordered beers and tried the fried corn appetizer(as recommended by our server/owner). Not something I’d normally choose but it was delicious. On her recommendation I also had the fish and chips on special and my husband had a buffalo chicken wrap. Both were so fresh and delicious. Hubby proclaimed it as the best buffalo wrap he’s ever had. The fries were crispy and well seasoned. The staff was also very helpful in directing us to area activities, places to hang out for the weekend. This place looks like a hold on the wall but the food is not to be messed with. It was fresh and delicious!!!

We stopped at this little bar in Peekskill called Sunset House. Bartender /server was pleasant and knowledgable and very nice. Looks like an old man bar just walk past and sit by the window look out to see Hudson River. We had the cajun soup which was awesome and a to die for BLT. this is a must stop when your in the area.

Laid back atmosphere. Sue keeps the place light and fun and prepares so much of the food herself. The daily specials are usually special so go ahead and try. The fried shrimp appetizer was very good. It was a generous portion of JUMBO shrimp lightly battered and fried served w fries and sauces. I agree w another review about the BLT — - you wont find another one like this! Drinks are reasonably priced and a good variety of seasonal beers on tap. Its not fancy fare, but it is cheap and fills your belly. The back patio is completely hidden from the road and very lovely for a nice night. Try wednesday nights for date night or saturday night for karaōke. Super fun! Its the kind of place you go for a drink and a laugh… a real local joint. Say hello to Sue!

Best BLT I have ever had hands down! My husband and I picked this place for lunch because they have chicken fingers for my extremely picky daughters. They loved them and the fries too! My husband had a chili burger and he was very happy! We hit the Sunset House every time we are in town. Moving soon to Peekskill. Met the owner the first time we ate there. She was great and very friendly. she actually tried to help us find a rental apartment! The bartender/waitress was very friendly and funny. And she remembered our drink orders when we came back a few weeks later! The sunset house is our kind of neighborhood place. We will definitely become regulars once we are settled in Peekskill! Look forward to seeing some live music here in the future and drinking some wine in the outside patio!

Lovely owner who cares a lot about her restaurant. Nice staff!!! The beer was excellent and there were lots of choices. The location in the Hudson is sweet. We were underwhelmed with the food– no real use of seasonings, the roll the burger was on was just fresh enough, the bacon was better than the beef. The portobello mushrooms was good. We wanted to love the food but it wasn’t the highlight. The prices were perfect though! It’s worth a visit — great place to hang out for a brew and karaōke.

If you’re meandering through the Taconics and find your way to Peekskill and are hoping to be welcomed into a warm and inviting atmosphere where the food is home cooked with love and care, then Sunset House is your destination of choice. I ordered a simple dinner of soup and sandwich. Being a New Englander I’m not a fan of «red chowda» but the Manhattan here is rich and rewarding. I had hiked all over Bear Mountain and felt I could justify a little cholesterol so I ordered the BLT. It’s made fresh to order and honestly the best BLT I’ve ever had ! I’m not a professional reviewer and have no ties to the S. H. A touch of Ireland is part of the deal– don’t miss it !

Came here on a Friday night at 8pm with small group of five to use a groupon for $ 100 worth of food and drinks. They had a table reseved for us which was kinda funny since the place is so small but thats cool. That night they were having a band play music from the 70s. Also the Red Apple Ale girls were in the house giving out free drinks. Score! We ordered calamari and later a salad plate, clams fra d’avalo, crab cake and a quesadillla. Calamatz was decent, crab cake was so-so, salad plate was so sad and weird and I think my friends said the clams were okay too. Overall it was typical dive bar, pub food. I didn’t expect anything mindblowing and it was just a little something to accent all the booze anyway. I think we had about 5 drinks each and our bill was cheap. For all the food and drinks per person, I would definitely check it out again some night. Maybe the burgers would be a better choice to try? I would come and peruse the menu and grab drinks again in the future. A place to go if you fancy hole in the wall, dives :)

I came on a night where there was a festival and fair going on a couple blocks down. They had one server on staff, and I believe that server was also cooking. The food was bland, and since the waitress apologized for getting slammed with customers that night, they were out of many items on the menu. She then proceeded to take our orders, and then the wait ensued. Around 45 minutes later, our food came out. Many of our orders were messed up, and some of us received dishes that we did not order. The waitress then explained she was out of what we ordered, so the chef just created something else to give us. That’s fine with me, just letting you know if case you’re not cool with that. I’d say that I would go back when they are less busy, but seeing how the food was very bland without flavor(not just my dish, but everyone else’s too), I sadly will not return to dine. However, this seems like a great place to kick back and enjoy a pint of whatever beer they have on tap. Hopefully they can get their act together.
