After hiking with our dogs we were hungry and decided to quick search to see if we could find a dog friendly place to eat. What a great place. Great atmosphere, we loved the staff, and the drinks and food were awesome. Great selection of beer and we loved the menu. Outside seating area was really nice. They even brought each dog out a bowl of ice water.(4 dogs) wish I lived closer I’d be a regular but we will be back

I’ve been to Birdsall 4 times. Each time, the food and service deserved a 4 star rating. My last visit, on Sunday, June 12 left much to be desired – regarding our waitor. After being seated, our waiter ignored us while he served his other customers at adjacent tables. After 15 minutes, I asked the hostess why others who arrived after us already had drinks on their table, while we were not even approached by our waitor. A simple, courteous, «I will be right with you» was in order, but was not uttered. When our waitor arrived, he seemed annoyed that we approached the hostess. We placed our drink orders and waited… no drinks… Then, we placed our food orders – still no drinks. Our appetizers arrived before our drinks. Again, a simple, «your drinks will be right out», would have sufficed, but not a word from our server.” When the drinks were finally served, after having been seated for ½ an hour, once again no apology for the delay. Employees with poor people skills and a bad attitude, like this spiteful waitor, should find another job.

Went here for lunch and I have say 1 star is 1 to many for the food here. Nice wait staff, not so nice food. Even the homemade condiments were atrocious. The catsup would have tasted better on pasta and the homemade mayo was equally bad. You know it’s a bad sign when both you and the person you dined with are both suffering from upset stomachs less than an hour after you’ve had a meal. The portions were large and the prices ok, but none of that matters if the food just doesn’t taste good or causes you to feel sick an hour later.

Food is delicious here! The mac and cheese is a must try. It is definitely cheesy and taste like a real homemade mac n cheese. I got the Birdsall Reuben. It was delicious and the sauce they put on it was very well done and goes well with the Reuben. Overall the food is good and good portion, the service was very slow. They seemed to be short staffed that day.

Great beer list and good cocktails. I was there in the summer and ate outside, which was nice, but I’d be very curious to see what it’s like in colder weather because the inside was well designed(much better than most similar«upstate» restaurants I’ve been to).

YUMYUMYUM. As we were coming back to the city after our camping trip, I saw this on my Unilocal bookmarks and was like«Hmm why is this on there?» but we were hungry so it seemed like a good fit. The staff was really great and on point, their tasting flight was a great deal(30oz for $ 15 of all really great beers) and the food was on point. We had the shrimp appetizer which came SPICY and saucy on this HUGE slice of thick grilled bread. I had the rebuan and bf had a cheeseburger, both were amazing and HUGE portions. Granted, the prices were a few more dollars than I would have expected for a place, but the food was good and I was all about what they were trying to do. YUMYUM. I would highly reccomend this.

It took 45 minutes to serve chicken wings that are all ready cooked and ready. Bloody chicken wings… Never again.

I never write bad reviews but I’ve been to this place 3 times over several years and never had a good experience. The first time I went they bragged about butchering their own meat and the pulled pork was filled with bones. Another visit we ordered the brunch which«included» mimosas which ended up being 90% orange juice, when we ordered a mimosa from the bar it was normal. $ 30 for a below average brunch should not include a watered down mimosa. I don’t like putting down someone else’s business but the place just tries to do too much without being able to pull it off. A overachieving under performer.

So I went here a while ago for brunch and had such a terrible experience but forgot to write in. After finding out they’re up for best restaurant in Westchester I had to write my review. Two people in our party of four ordered the prix fix brunch. For the first course I asked for the fruit and yogurt. What I received was about 1⁄3 cup of yogurt on a tiny bread plate with 6 grapes and some bananas. All served with a large tablespoon to eat it with. Off. of. a. plate(!!!) That was the first strike. Second strike came when we received our«complimentary» mimosas which were about 90% orange juice. My mother ordered a mimosa off the menu because she did not get the prix fix and her mimosa was 60% champagne. They were served off of the same tray at the same time. You can imagine our disappointment and irritation with this. Third strike came when we got the bill. I can’t remember the exact number but it was astronomical for what we got. I will probably never return to this establishment unless they make some serious changes because the food and service we received is certainly not worth the high price that we paid. It’s unfortunate because Peekskill really needs a great brunch spot but this place is just trying too hard and not delivering the goods.

Very cool, old timey, beer bar. Although, we didn’t eat here,($ 16 chicken wings are pricey… and we live in Manhatten) the beer list is top notch. I would definitely return.

This is overpriced pub fare. The food was not very good — I don’t have a creative foodie way of saying it. It just wasn’t very good. If our meal(for two people) cost $ 25 – 30 that categorization would be acceptable for such a bar-atmosphere place. But it cost us $ 30+ per entrée plus drinks for bad food in a crowded bar-like establishment. As others have said, if you want a beer come here. If you want dinner go elsewhere!

Birdsall House is a local gastropub in Peekskill with an outdoor beer garden. Although it was a beautiful day I opted to sit at the bar because it was Hudson Valley Restaurant Week — 3 course lunch for $ 20.95. Why the bar? I’m noisy and I wanted to see what everyone was eating and I like to chat up the bartender about what’s the crowd favorite and what’s popular with the staff. The bartender was busy with bar, tables, and beer garden but he was friendly and informative. The place had a familiar feel because I HADBEEN here a few times before. The Meal: Soup of the Day — Was told it was White Bean but when it arrived it was red and not bean at all. Tomato & chicken soup. Tasty with a bit of a kick to it. Nice start. Tofu Banh Mi — Pickled daikon and carrots, ginger cilantro mayo, marinated tofu, French bread, house fries. I’m not a HUGE fan of tofu but when it’s on a menu of gastropub I’m inclined to try it plus it was the bartenders fav. SUCCESS the TOFU did not taste spongy and had perfect Vietnamese flavors. French bread was doughy and flaky and stood up well to the pickled veg. It was good but I have to admit I missed the pâté on the Banh Mi. Fries were splendid — crisp and well-seasoned but the condiments took it to a new level. Ok they don’t do Ranch Dress but the Homemade Mustard was a chunky mustard on the sweet side worked good with the fries and the Ancho Chile Rémoulade(used on the Reuben) was perfect with the fries. Maple Bacon Ice Cream — apple butter, wild hive cornmeal waffle — bacon, ice cream, waffles… what is not to love about that! I’ve told my friends back in NYC it’s worth at trip«up state» to eat there. Told my family in Seattle to book a flight just for the Maple Bacon Ice Cream! Plus Peekskill is a cute town to spend an afternoon in. I hope to be back soon!

Some friends and I came here after a nice hike nearby. We were lucky to come while brunch was still going on and I ordered a bloody mary, goat cheese and mustard on crostini and the biscuits and gravy. The bloody mary was REALLY spicy and I LOVED it. Full of flavor and tasted like fresh ingredients were made. The biscuits and gravy had a beautiful poached egg on top and the whole thing was delicious. I would highly recommend! The staff were very kind, although service was a bit slow, which is the only reason I’m giving a 4⁄5 stars!

We went there last week, and the expectations were truly high being I have visited prior. Well it started off bad, I was originally sat at one location and after getting comfy I was told to move. Which I was OK with, I don’t make big deals out of those things. We ordered our food pretty much 3 grilled cheese sandwiches and a chicken sandwich, this took an hour to get(how long does it take for a grilled cheese!?). The amount of time we waited for our food was not kosher, and when we got our food of course it was dry and tasted like cardboard not a fresh meal. The drinks were OK, I wouldn’t go back, I think it’s a good shot of trying to make a NYC feel hipster bar north of Manhattan, but the food/service needs some help.

Am I just a spoiled foodie that comes from nyc? We came to west point academy today and decided to pick s local restaurant to dine in. This came up on Unilocal with the most reviews compared to ANY other restaurants in the area. So… We gave it a try. The service is pretty good. Waitress was really nice and was attentive when I asked for something. We ordered calamares, which, tasted FISHY, yes fishy! I have never had calamares that tasted fishy. That was very disappointing. However, the sauce was really good. Sweet & tangy. Then we ordered some food from that day’s special. I got the lemon chicken and my SO got a stuffed pork loin. The pork was hard dry and tasteless over what seemed like half a can of split pea soup. My chicken was over fried. Tasted like the batter was stuck to the bottom of the fryer. Then drizzled with some sauce. It was just overall an disappointing experience that I wish no one will have to experience. If you’re looking for lots of different beers, come here to have a drink on a date. If you’re here for mainly food, I suggest you stay away, I mean… Far away

Came here for lunch on Saturday based on Unilocal’s review, I had an interesting experience. When my friends and I got here, we were starving, we sat at the bar, the bartender was very nice. He explained the menu pretty well and we ordered a few things including market salad, chili bowl, soup of the day(hot & sour) bowl and fries. The market salad was priced at $ 13, which is quite expensive for a salad that has no proteins or cheese, but the bar tender explained that it’s a big size of salad and all the ingredients are locally sourced, so we ordered it anyway. When the salad arrived, we almost fell off the chair, because it was fairly small, only some leaves, some chopped figs and very thin sliced pears… it was tiny. My friend couldn’t help and complained to the bar tender, he went to talk to the kitchen to see if we can get more toppings, and when he came back, he said they will take the salad of the bill. We were not expecting it and thought it was good customer service. The rest of the plates came out well actually, both cili and soup were delicious and the size was generous. At the end, we were very happy with the meal and it turned out to be a pleasant experience.

Really cool brunch option in Peekskill that will appeal to daytripping New Yorkers, hipsters, and Hudson Valley denizens alike. We sat outside in the courtyard and it was nice with the umbrella cover. Brunch options were standard but good with fresh and local-seeming ingredients. There’s an extensive and interesting list of beers, as you would expect, most of which are NOT from Peekskill brewing, which I did not expect. I wish they would have labeled the beer flights a little better or clearly announced each beer name when they were delivered, but it was nice to put the palate to a taste test. A strong choice for good eating and drinking in town.

No way I’m returning. I don’t need a lot of words to say the lamb appetizer was okay, fries were burnt and oily, waiter was inattentive and the restaurant was not busy at the time. Felt like he was more interested in the side chat he was having by the bar than to pay attention to his customer. And oh there was a fruit fly chasing the food from my plate to my mouth. The IPA I had was great!
