Vecky Bakery

I love this place. The staff is very friendly and have been working here for many years. The pastries are perfectly prepared — not overly sweet. They even make fresh squeezed sugar cane juice «guarapo»!!!

I usually goto Tati’s bakery on Miramar parkway and dykes and I love them but I had to drop off a rental car to enterprise rental car in the vecky bakery plaza. Thus, decided to drop in.
Firstly, the counter staff is EXTREMELY RUDE! I asked for beef patties and the staff member with the longer hair and braid asked me if ‘only beef’. I told her yes only beef (referring to the patty type). I wanted a lot more items so she was upset that she had to get a bigger box. She thought I only wanted beef patties period.
Nonetheless, she not only showed me she was annoyed by having to get a bigger box cause I wanted to get more items but she thought I didn’t speak Spanish and she talked about me to the other staff.
I don’t know how ignorant you have to be to talk about someone in another language (namely Spanish) in south Florida where every race and shade speaks /​understands Spanish. I didn’t say anything because it would have been pointless and a waste of my time to discuss this with her.
I finished my order and left and am writing this review.
The patties tasted stale and the meat had a sour taste to them.
The guava pastries were ok.
The Napoleons and eclairs were stale as well. Maybe it was because it was the end of the day but it doesn’t matter because I will never go back to give them a second chance thanks to the staff here.
What a waste…

The food is not any better or worse than any of the other number of cuban bakeries in the area. The thing that sets this place apart from the others (in a bad way) is their below average customer service. The employees show no incentive to work any faster than a snail pace. I am of hispanic decent but it frustrates me that i am obligated to speak Spanish at a place of business in the United States of America. The employees here commonly show their frustration when they are spoken to in english. I prefer to give my money to either one of the other two bakeries that are near by.

Love this place. I come a lot because I work in the plaza. From coffee to sandwiches to pastries, they always hit the spot and they are all so nice.

Great food variety and adequate seating indoors. I have been looking for a place that serves an Elena Ruth. I was extremely excited when I found it on the menu here. However, I was disappointed when I finally sunk my teeth into it. They had run out of turkey and had to use ham and it seemed as though the cream cheese was globbed on with an ice cream scooper! After a little work, it was pretty tasty.

Not gonna lie, I love me some cuban pastries. This place has really good ones, especially if you are in a rush like I usually am. Ever since I have came here I always end up coming back. Highly recommend the ham croquetas and meat empanadas. My mouth is basically watering thinking about them. Another one of my favorites here is the chocolate eclairs, oh man. The people that work the counter are super nice which is always an added bonus!

I love coming here in the AM hours for a healthy empanada (lol ok not so healthy) but damn tasty! I have tried the beef and chicken empanadas, cod fish fritters and plantain chips (all which are great)! Sometimes the line can get lengthy so be prepared for that. All in all if your looking for a nice cup of Cuban coffee and a nice pastry or sweet to go along with it you should try this place!

I’ve been a few times. I tried it the first time on a whim because I had just gone to Pollo Tropical and wanted something sweet for after. Tried their Tres Leches and it was very nice. A bit too sweet but can’t complain about it much.
Their order treats are good, but not spectacular. It’s an average Latin Bakery. My favorite is still Mi Casita Bakery over by university and pines.

A week ago my wife and I were shopping around for a Baby Shower cake for our daughter. We found a picture of the ideal cake on the Internet and took it to Vecky’s Bakery to see if they could replicate it, it was a sea theme with sea shells and star fish. They did such wonderful job, and paid very close attention to detail with the sea shell placement, it looked identical to the picture, we were very impressed! But most important our daughter just loved it. Great bakery I coming back here again.

I’m not going to lie. I grew up in Pembroke Pines. I remember coming here after eating Sunday lunch at Pollo Tropical with my family and getting desserts. I guess I’ve always taken for granted just how good their stuff really is! A family friend brought some tres leches over for my brother’s birthday & my oh my was it delightful. I’ve been reacquainted with an old gem that’s been hiding in plain sight.

Stopped in this morning on our way to church. Café con leche with sugar was made perfect– not too light, not too dark, and just the right amount of sugar. The lady helping us with our order was nice.
We had Cuban toast with butter, which was good but the bread was day old… The guava pastries were fresh with lots a yummy guava filling. The cheese pastry was fresh, dough was not hard, and had just the right amount of cream cheese filling and sugar on the outside. My husband tried the pan de bono which was big and cheesy but it wasn’t too fresh.
If you live in Pembroke Pines, this is a good bakery to get Cuban favorites and satisfy cravings but — not as good as the «Vicky bakery» locations in Hialeah :)

Great sweet meat pateries! Guava good if you like those. Tried a sweet pastry with a ham filling and 2 kinds of cheese one of which was cream cheese. Soooo rich but yummy!

Alright if you like pudding with a thin layer of cake and icing for a $ 60 sheet cake, the go for it. While the staff was helpful and listened to my ideas for the cake, the final production was disgusting and not worth it at all.

Not to be confused with VICKY Bakery, as I did… driving down Pines Boulevard and saw Vecky Bakery and it just registered in my head as Vicky Bakery (which are superb and located around Miami).
A LITTLE ABOUT VECKY BAKERY:
It’s an adorable little latin bakery offering plenty of eye candy. They have a few tables to sit during lunch, except that my first two visits the chairs were on the tables (even though I confirmed they were not closing).
GLASS CASE No.1 was filled with plenty of cakes and cookies (not something I tried but looked decent enough).
GLASS CASE No.2 was filled with traditional bakery items (some latin, some italian, a real mix of sweet treats such as neapolitans, cream horns, eclairs, tarts, et cetera).
GLASS CASE No.3 was filled with hot items such as croquetas, papas rellanas, empanadas, pastelitos, et cetera.
OTHER STUFF: Beyond glass display cases they offer hot sandwiches, coffees, smoothies and more
VISIT No.1: Seemed near perfect, but I was so hungry I probably would have given five stars to a cardboard sandwich. Ate an empanada and a croqueta.
VISIT No.2: Nibbled on a couple of papas rellenas and a empanada (good enough to come back but lacking nonetheless). Also got some bakery desserts for the family (turns out this is their strong point). Best items were the neapolitans and eclairs.
VISIT No.3: Ordered a cuban mix and sad to say it was HORRIBLE (hardly any meat at all and way too much mustard). More than half the bites of my sandwich had literally NO meat at all.
SUMMARY:
The bakery sweets are excellent and worth coming for.
The hot case items are good but nothing special whats so ever.
The sandwiches are a waste of time.
Cakes, coffees smoothies and cookies I have never tried.

I find the pastry part of the pastelitos de guayaba to be dry and tasteless but that doesn’t mean I’m not chowing down on them morning, noon and night at when I’m at Mother In Law’s. I think they’re solid for Broward.
They do nice party platters of bocaditos and croquetas and obviously, pastelitos.

Best empanadas I’ve «EVER» had. I got four different flavors. One was chicken, the others were beef, cheese and spinach. I don’t know if they were fried or baked, but they were nice and large, had a large amount of filling in them that was seasoned so well and my favorite part was the shell because it was so crispy — not flakey. There was no hint of grease at all. Also, the gals working at this place only spoke Spanish which was a challenge for me being that I don’t speak Spanish — but if you have a finger and can point to what you want then you’ll be one very satisfied customer as far as your tummy goes!

Oh, Vecky ham croquetas, guava pastries, café con leche and cheese streudels… you make me happy to come to S. FL! The cake frosting is super sweet, but so is the staff. Always a pleasure.

I visit this place on Saturday mornings before heading to the salon so I can bring the «girls» some goodies… and OMG!!! do they love it… the bakery is very nice, they have breakfast and lunch and some little tables inside where you can sit and eat. It’s very clean and the staff, most of it anyway, is extremely nice… Nick is the best café con leche maker there… and their croquetas, oh wow!!! to die for… go ck it out, you’ll like it.
