This place is crazy. I mean, if you live in Penn Yan it is probably just the usual. But I was highly entertained the entire time. We came here on the Friday of Memorial Day weekend from about 11:30 til they closed(I think at 1). There were maybe 20 people in the bar. It is pretty big so that’s not really busy at all. I thought it was mostly local singles because some of the guys were creepy and looking stalkerish, standing by the broken Big Buck Hunter game, staring. But once a slow country love song came on, everyone was coupled up and slow dancing, leaving no room for Jesus in between them. I saw everything from scrunchies and white capri pants over cankles to a midget in the short time I was here. However, I saw nothing that would indicate that this was an Irish bar. It’s just a bar. The drinks were really cheap, because it is a small town. The bartenders were very nice. There was really no one else sitting at the bar so we never had to wait for a drink. There is a smoking«patio» which has a door that opens right into the bar. So if you hate the smell of smoke you might want to avoid that end of the bar. The bathrooms were a little questionable but I’ve seen far worse. Next time I plan on getting wasted so I can shake it to some mid-90’s dance hits. If you want the true Penn Yan bar experience, don’t miss O’Leary’s.
