Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen

This was my second time visiting Cheddars and usually dining experiences change after the first time, but I must say it remains consistent as a place you can come and eat a variety of things and expect to be satisfied.
Again, Cheddars is not fine dining. It’s a nice casual place with good food, decent service, and more than fair pricing.
I opted for the chips with spinach dip and it was pretty good. It even came with a small side dish of salsa. This time around for the entrée, I ordered the baby back ribs with sides of the cheese broccoli casserole and rice. I was a bit surprised at how tender the ribs were. Usually it’s a hit or miss with ribs but they did it right. The rice was disappointing because it was as if uncle ben’s minute rice was mixed with lots of slightly-​cooked diced onions. The broccoli was ehhh… I mean if you love broccoli and love cheddar cheese, then you’d like it. The little one’s Chicken tenders and French fries were good and BBQ was «really good»…according to her.
All in all another positive experience at Cheddars

Great food, great prices. Always a decent wait for a table, and usually slower service. We love the onion rings, honey butter croissants, chicken pot pied, and country fried chicken :)

My buddy kept telling me how awesome Cheddar’s was. I had only been to one before and that was really good (Harker Heights). We were in Plugerville last night so we went in for dinner. I could smell the carpet. It had that wet old moldy carpet smell. I had a few adult drinks and they were great. The food was ok and nothing to really jump up and down about. Like others the worst part about the place was the service. It was not that busy and there seemed to be a lot of staff on hand. They were just SO slow. We had to wait too long just to pay our bill. I will give Cheddars another try someday but NOT this one.

Great food at an affordable price! And big portions, I use to come here with my husband all the time and get the buffalo chicken wrapper. Was one of our favorites.

The piña colada is to die for!!!

The only thing i don’t like about this place is the waiting time 40mins or more…

Place has gone down hill so bad. While placing our order with the waitress Britney (who wasn’t that bad) the rude manager interrupts us to tell waitress a joke. Old dishes were never picked up and they started piling on top of each other so we moved them to the next table as staff watched and did nothing. The server was completely rude when he brought out our food and gave me attitude when he didn’t serve us two sides that we ordered. When I received my check I asked the waitress if this place has new management because you can totally tell the difference, and she even said yes can’t you tell? Like she was frustrated. I then wrote a note on the check and provided it to the route manager and he followed us in the parking lot insulting us telling me to never come back to his restaurant again. He didn’t even apologize for the horrible service and wanted to start an argument. Will never come back to this location again.

This restaurant needs to check their manager. Walked in and had no service at the hostess stand. So decided to sit at the bar, but when we got there, we had no place to sit. Not because they were busy, but no tables were clean, there was trash all over the floor and not one person asked us if we needed assistance. When we finally found a waiter, we asked if they could find someone to clean a table for us, it never happened. On top of that, we finally ran into the hostess and asked if she could assist us with someone to help clean the tables in the bar, and she stated «I can’t leave my post.» This was funny because she wasn’t there when we walked in. I can guarantee you that I will never be going back to this Cheddars location, and thank you to the Fish Daddies next door for saving the night!

We had a group of seven.
It was our first time eating here since we drove from California to visit family living out here.
We asked for a table however we were told that we had to split up and sit in two booths.
We asked the host again if we could have a table since we wanted to all eat together. The host told us it was up to our server because he was the one who said no.
Our servers name was Christian.
When we asked him and explained the situation.
He told us «we could sit there» however the busser would have to clean more tables and that they really didn’t want us sitting there.
So we sat at the two booths separately so that way we didn’t inconvenience them in having to clean a large table.
We spoke to the manager and told them it was unfortunate that this happened.
As I’m sitting here writing this review I see a staff member sitting at a table braiding another servers hair. I’m so glad they have time to do this.

If you’re off the clock then I believe you should not be on the floor where customers can you see you. It looks bad.

Another server/​bartender came up to us and said he was sorry about the situation and that it should’ve never been an issue.
He was so nice his name was Jesse.
But thank you! I think he was amazing for coming over to us. I bumped rating to 2 stars because of him.
Unfortunately I will not ever come back.
If I did I would only sit at the bar for service and ask for Jesse.

This place is great
Spinich atrichoke dip is amazing!
Avoid the spagehtti/​lasanga dish, spasanga (sp?). Waste of money and tasted horrible. I had better microwavable pasta. Other than that, i can’t complain and enjoyed every other meal i had here

Cheap drinks. Quick friendly service. Decent food

I like that they offer a lot of comfort food for reasonable prices. Service tends to be slow even when the restaurant is not full.

I sat at the bar and my waiter Donald L. Was beyond excellent. Greatest service I have had to date. The beef nachos were also excellent with the right amount of cheese on them. I like cheese in every bite.

Only one star because of the bad and very weak service, the server was not paying attention to her tables at all, asked her twice for refill the water and never happened. …the food was good, but the service super weak… by the end we had the three small cake dessert and we had to wait until she brings us small spoon, and that’s again never happened so, I asked another server and he gave us plastic silverware, which was better than nothing and by that time the cake was melted… hope the manager of the restaurant paying attention to the server and service and see was goings-​on. Never coming back here again.

Rude host! Waited forever for our food! Had a nice server. Good was so-​so! Not sure if I’ll ever return!

Service is very weak. Food is mediocre. Atmosphere of a Waffle House. This place has gone downhill. Unfortunately for me my 82 year old mom still likes them for their overrated crescents.
Second trip (mom likes this place. I don’t know why). Idiots still working here. I’m only here to humor Mom. Otherwise this is a great example of how not to operate a restaurant.

Walked in and sat at the bar. The bartender was talking to another patron, so I sat there for him to finish. After about 4 minutes of him still talking to the same person I started the stop watch on my phone to see how long it would take him to acknowledge me… Roughly 4m13s on top of the time I’d already been there. As I was deciding to either call him over or leave he turned and brought me a menu. I said I don’t need a menu and he continued to talk to the person he had been talking to so I interrupted him and asked for a drink. He asks for my ID and starts back talking to the man he’d been engaging with. I should’ve left at this point. He gets my ID and states I look much younger and I said sunscreen works wonders. He made my drink and placed it in front of me. Then he goes back to his conversation with the guy. The drink was pretty horrible (I’ve had it before and it didn’t taste anything like this). After sitting and waiting for him to come by and check on me as the drink is just sitting there, I finally called him over and said this drink is not good, did y’all change what you make it with? He said no but then preceded to tell me they changed the way they mix/​prepare it. Then he turned away. I waited a few more moments and finally said well I don’t like it at all so can I get a different drink. Yeah, sure. Ordered another drink that was decent, slurped it down, paid and left. I tipped him way more than I should’ve but I decided I’m not returning to this location. His disgusting drink and poor service left a bad taste in my mouth.

I would give Cheddar’s five stars, if the service was better. I love Cheddar’s. I love their menu, their prices, and the food is AWESOME. However, occasionally the service is severely lacking. One time for our anniversary we went and the rude young man took about half an hour to ask us if we maybe wanted some drinks (like, water? yes?) and he had in his hand a returned pot pie from the people behind us. Never introduced himself. Very unprofessional and it pissed us off. We left for Red Lobster.
On the other hand, if you get decent service (even normally it’s never really exceptional), the food is the bomb. Chicken tenders are the best in the world. I get double brocolli, or baby carrots, or their delicious broccoli cheese casserole. My husband said the best steak he ever had was from Cheddar’s, ironically, especially because we LOVE Texas Roadhouse. Their shrimp is pretty good too. Also the honey dijon chicken and mushrooms. YUM.
I was married at the courthouse and had immediate family with us and we went here for our «luncheon» and luckily that day we were taken care of very well!

Been here 2 times the last week both during different times of the day. Each time I had no problem with the service (tho’ my friend was a lil upset that her server had to ask her again what drink she wanted, at least she didn’t get the wrong drink), and each time I got some sea food here at very reasonable prices at usually a lil over 10 a person. It was pretty good needless to say… fish tacos were yum and the baked catfish was unbelievable tasty and comes with 2 free sides too so you can’t beat that. The whole rotating leafs thing they have going on inside is pretty freakin’ cool. I recommend this place if you like quick service with good food.
*had a pasta dish here and didn’t like it at all. Try to avoid eating pasta dishes here if you can. They butter it up too much, and the noodles seem flavorless and aren’t great.

We had to wait about 15 minutes — it was very busy evening but the waiting didn’t bother us at all.
The food was very good and yummy! I’m surprised my two boys ate everything! My husband said that the ribs was amazing.
Our server, Glenn, was great server and made sure everything is good with us. Great service!

Without a doubt, one of the worst experiences I have had at a Cheddar’s. I had travelled down to Austin (from Dallas) that morning and was on the return leg of my trip back to Dallas.
We stopped at Cheddar’s on our way out of Austin to pick up a quick bite. It was about 2:00 in the afternoon so most of the lunch crowd had already left. We were seated at a booth that still had food on the seat and needed to be wiped down. So I sat on the other side of the booth which had a huge gash in the center of the vinyl. Tacky.
Our server was young & pretty (probably still in high school), but the service was S-​L-​O-​W. We waited for what seemed like forever for our food to arrive and then waited forever for her to come back so that I could place an order for a beverage. Then waited forever and a day for her to swing around again so that we could place a dessert order. The place was empty so it wasn’t like she was busy waiting on other tables. She was just no where to be found.
Once she brought our dessert, I asked her to bring our bill so we could get squared away. I swear, we must’ve spent a good hour & half in this place which delayed our return trip to Dallas considerably (can you say, «Friday evening traffic hell?») The place was dirty, service was inexplicably slow, the food was OK. The «Painkiller» drink that I ordered also tasted off — not as good as others I’ve had.
This left a bad taste. Won’t step into another Cheddar’s anytime soon.

Look for the money especially if you have kids the price and quality for sit down unbeatable. No ita not gourmet but it all tastes fresh and correct. Full kids meals for 5 bucks each too. great deal

I came here last night solely for drinks, so I can’t comment on a food experience.

For starters, they’re hiring! They apparently need it too. It seems in looking at reviews that poor/​slow service may be related to being understaffed, BUT, still go in prepared for a little disorganization.
We went to the bar. No wait! The patio wasn’t offering service because they were short handed, but, we were free to take our food/​drinks out there if we wanted to. It only took a few minutes to order up drinks & few more to get them (pretty busy). We had 2 very attentive waitresses all night!
Drinks are cheap, which is a plus. But, the Signature/​Premium margaritas I ordered weren’t very strong. My friends Mexican Martini wasn’t very strong either. We just fixed that with a tequila shot & called it a wrap. Lol
Would I go back? Sure! Cheap top shelf drinks, hell yes. Maybe I’ll dig into their food menu next time…
