Say goodbye to the EM Gourmet stand that is located inside Hanna Market on Parmer. It will close at the end of May. Open your arms and say hello to the new EM Gourmet brick and mortar located on Spring Hill Lane in Pflugerville. Diana Nguyen has finally opened her kitchen. I don’t think Pflugerville will be the same with this lady in town. Diana will still be serving all the things you came to love from her little stand. Now that her kitchen is open, she will be able to expand her offerings and create more as she goes along. EM Gourmet isn’t just for deserts anymore. The kitchen is new, and, Diana has lots to do. Not a challenge for this lady, who started her own business at the age of 12 in a refugee camp in the Philippines. Diana is a focused and driven business person. While the kitchen is opening and evolving slowly, Diana is planning and strategizing. She will be focusing more attention to Boba Teas and teaching her love for cooking. She has a menu that is posted on her website, but, if you go there she will have the daily deals on the chalkboard by the register. I stopped by today, and, got to have a little one-on-one chat with Diana. She is a very friendly lady who is more than eager to share her passion of cooking, and, her dream to be successful. On my visit today I ordered the Vietnamese Rice Crepes with a light fish sauce for dipping. The crepes were stuffed with pork, black mushrooms and diced onions. I fell in love with these. I actually like these more than spring rolls. Yes, I have a new favorite. Next, I ordered the house made vegetable pickles. Lord have mercy! I would love to buy these by the jar full and take them to work for snacking on. For my soup I chose the Asparagus Egg Drop. Definitely the best egg drop soup I’ve ever had. For my main course I ordered the three colored rice. Rice is offered steamed or fried. I chose fried. You’re probably wondering, what makes this dish three colored? It’s the meat that is skewered and laid on top of the rice. Chicken, pork, and, shrimp. Those are the three colors. The fried rice wasn’t anything outstanding. It was simply fried rice, until I poured some of my light fish sauce over it. That was a neat find. The meats were tasty and flavorful. I would definitely do this dish again. I got all this food for just $ 14.00! That’s a meal deal! Everything on the menu is under $ 10 with tax included! EM Gourmet is also vegan friendly, and, does not use MSG. The menu for this place is definitely inviting as they have starters that includes some interesting options like curry chicken wings and curry puff chicken. They also offer a selection of Banh Mi’s, dried noodle dishes, and, rice dishes. Also to be found on the menu are some breakfast options, Vietnamese deserts, coffees, and, teas. Diana plans to hire High School students and mold them into individuals that are creative and talented. What do I mean? She wants a staff that can be interactive with her in the kitchen. She wants to help them think outside the box, and, help her create new ideas for the menu. Oh to be 18 again! I would so be filling out my application. I’m excited for Diana, and, I hope she succeeds. What a great addition to Pflugerville!
