Stopped in this lovely little shop on a whim; fell in love. Very friendly, helpful staff. Great selection of yarns and patterns. And the selection of pretties convinced my non-knitting tagalong that she should try it, too! Definitely fell in love with this place and plan to visit whenever I’m in the area.

I was traveling to see a friend in Feasterville when I came upon this shop, nestled in a little cozy town away from the hustle of downtown Philly. Lisa was an amazing host, very bright and fun with the spunk I like from yarn store owners. Her selection of Quince & Co is impressive, and as I told her I haven’t seen that much Quince outside of my shopping area in a very long time, not even at Looped in DC! I was hoping they would have more Madelinetosh but she said that Tosh was a new acquisition for the shop, so I’m hoping that will grow before I come back in the spring. I ended up buying enough of the Quince & Co in Lark for a stitch-block cowl for roughly $ 36, which is amazing. Overall I’d recommend this shop to any of my knitter friends traveling to the Philly area!

I have been knitting for years and am always on the lookout for good yarns in sweater quantities. Hidden River carries Shepherd’s Wool which is a great worsted weight sweater yarn that is hard to find outside of Michigan where it is made. And she just recently became a wholesaler for Quince and Company which has amazingly beautiful yarns. I am in love with this store. Knit nights are Thursday nights. A store not to be missed.

I’m a beginning crocheter and have only made a few dishcloths and am almost at the end of an afghan so I don’t have a ton of experience under my belt. I stupidly felt nervous when we walked into Hidden River Yarns thinking that they would know I’m an amateur and shoo me out of the store.(I don’t know where my brain gets this stuff sometimes…) There were two women sitting at a table in the center of the store who were more than happy to show us around and answer any questions we may have had. They have the most beautiful yarns in this shop, I wanted to buy everything, but my bank account told me I probably shouldn’t. I ended up buying two skeins of a hand dyed yarn for a little over $ 20 each. This was definitely a splurge, but they were so gorgeous I couldn’t say no. I was a little disappointed when I got home and noticed that they were both sock weight, not worsted like I thought.(As I said, I’m a novice and it said it on the label so it was my fault, not the store’s.) As a crocheter, I’m not quite sure what to do with sock weight yarn. If anyone knows, message me! Other than that, this is a great store with friendly, welcoming staff and I’ll definitely be back after I learn a bit more.

Awesome yarn shop and awesome owner, Lisa. She is so helpful, friendly, and a really talented knitter as you can see from the shop samples. I go to the shop for Thursday knit nights occasionally and it’s a great group of people and varying levels of knitters. Great yarn suggestions and selections and I ended up coming home with a sweaters worth. mega ups on the fact that it is neighbors with a delicious coffee shop too.

Lisa, the shop owner is so friendly and helpful! I was looking for a hat pattern for my 2 yr old and she hopped on Ravelry found what I was looking for and I was able to purchase the required yarn and my 2 yr old and I were happily on our way:-) I would also add that she was very friendly and understanding with my little one who loved to touch the skeins! I’m thrilled to finally have a yarn shop close to home! Welcome to the neighborhood!

I’m so glad Manayunk finally has a yarn shop! HRY is a cute store with a relaxed atmosphere. Both the owner and her assistant were very nice and helped us select yarns for a project. I was bracing for high prices, common at local yarn stores, but was pleasantly surprised to see a number of affordable options. It’s great to have somewhere local I can afford to purchase an entire garment’s worth of yarn. It’s also right next door to Volo coffee, making it easy to grab a cup and head over for some knitting. The selection of natural fiber worsted /dk yarn is good, but they don’t currently carry many novelty yarns or super bulky weights. The supply selection is also a little limited. I actually didn’t think they carried needles at first, but they do have them in a cabinet near checkout. That said, they’ve got all the basics and hopefully as they grow they’ll start to stock more odds n’ ends. Overall Hidden River Yarns is a great addition to Manayunk.

I went to HRY’s grand opening last night and am really excited about this new store. It’s is a great addition to Main Street in Manayunk. It definitely fills a void here for those that don’t want to travel into Center City or up to Chestnut Hill for their yarn needs. The shop is very inviting and the owner, Lisa, is very helpful. She carries Hiya Hiya needles, which are my go-to needles now. I especially love that she carries Fibre Company and Manos del Uraguay, both of which are distributed here in Philly, as well as local handspun, Fresh Ginger Threads. Two thumb’s up!

Brand new yarn store in Philadelphia! Wool lovers rejoice– this shop features some of the loveliest brands around, Fibre Company, Manos, Shepherd’s wool, Lorna’s Laces, Peace Fleece and more seems to coming in all the time. Plus locally produced handspun yarn! Relaxed and casual atmosphere– helpful staff. Lovely shop that is very put together– Lots of room and bright light. It does not look like they just opened a few days ago. They even have a mascot already– Tlalok the Mayan sculpture who features the yarn of the day and shows up on their Facebook page. How much fun is that? I highly recommend.
