First time visiting Philadelphia and passed by this cute lingerie boutique. They carry some wonderful, sexy lingerie and different styles of bras. I came out with 5 bras! I never knew that I was buying bras the wrong way. The girls who work there were friendly & very knowledgeable and made sure I got my perfect bra fitting. Will definitely go again and recommend to anyone who wants good, quality bras or sexy lingerie for the holidays!

Stopped by during posted hours: it was 11:05am on Monday 11/​2, and they were closed, lights off, no one there. Had a tight window of time to come into the city specifically for this shop. Two other women outside waiting. Bad first impression.

I am left with about $ 80 in store credit because I bought a bra that ultimately does not fit me and the store has no other bras in the style/​size that I want. Beware before you buy from this store that MOST of their merchandise is sold at FULL retail price! You can get much better prices for the same bras at Macy’s, Norstrom, or Amazon with generous return policies. On top of the ridiculous pricing, they do not give refunds and only give you store credit for returns (within 14 days). I wish I had known that before buying 2 bras at the wrong size at full price. Could have saved at least 20% for the same bras elsewhere. I was also under the impression that they sold specialty bras that I could only buy there when really they just sell a bunch of different brands no different than any other department store. I ended up keeping one of the bras because I had already worn it.
Oh and their fitting isn’t even professional, no different from Victoria’s Secret or Aeri! Go to

I have bought 7 bras here in one year, and by an extremely conservative estimate spent about $ 700 at this store in one year. I have also brought a friend here, and recommended this store to others in the past. However, recently I had a problem with one bra after the first washing, and the owner’s response was that «out of the goodness of her heart» she would allow me to purchase the same exact bra with a 20% discount. To clarify, I wanted the same exact bra in the first place — just without the problems that showed up after the initial washing. Maybe she meant the «out of the goodness of her heart» to be a teasing joke. But I’m pretty sure it was not a teasing joke. I never had a problem with this store or staff until this comment. Needless to say, it’s a big world (Neiman, Saks, Nordstrom’s) and even bigger if you include the internet. I will spend my money somewhere or with someone who understands and appreciates that a customer who spends $ 700 on bras in one year probably does not deserve a snide comment about «the goodness of your heart» when she has shown you the goodness of her wallet.
And seriously … why is it that the lingerie store owners in Philly who carry decent lingerie seem to have such terrible attitudes towards their customers? I guess it’s a seller’s market in Philly for decent lingerie.

Came here after looking for a new bra for 2 months and left with exactly what I was looking for! The sales woman was really nice and measured me right away while listening to what I was looking for. I have a large chest but really wanted a simple bralette, something non traditional and sexy. She picked out some styles that I really liked and I fell in love with one that I went home with. Prices are what you would expect for a nice bra. The one I bought cost $ 80 and I found it at Anthropologie for $ 100. Definitely will be back!

I found the selection to be okay, at best, and the service to be extremely poor. The salesperson provided little guidance and made no effort to find a bra that was the right fit. The only reason that I bought an item was because I needed a particular bra for an outfit that same night. Otherwise, I would’ve shopped at a department store for better service and prices.

Ladies: Put down the saggy bra and go here! For years I had a been putting off getting a professional bra fitting but I finally was at my breaking point when I wasn’t able to find anything flattering from the department stores. After a quick fitting at Hope Chest it turns out I have been wearing the wrong size — and by a large margin of error. The lades at Hope Chest are extremely helpful and knowledgeable and will tell you if something isn’t working for you. The selections they gave me to try were beautiful and fit exceptionally well. The quality is high and the prices aren’t cheap (expect to pay $ 80-​$ 100 for a bra), but for something you are going to wear daily that is comfortable and flattering it’s well worth the investment. I will definitely be back. They had some really beautiful and unique robes and pajamas that I need to look at next time.

I went to the Hope Chest today to be properly fitted some everyday bras that were a little sexier than my usual sports bra (I had scheduled an appointment via their webpage). Sara was there and greeted me as soon as I walked inside. I told her what I was looking for and that I needed to be fitted and she went above and beyond to help me find something comfortable and cute. The selection was large and I picked out five or six things to try on. I tried on the items and she was kind enough to grab new sizes if needed. I ended up buying the items she recommended! The whole experience went a lot smoother than I anticipated and I was out the door 23 minutes later. I will definitely be back for more.

I found exactly what I needed and for a reasonable price. Although I had a pleasurable experience, I decided four stars was appropriate because I’d love to see a bigger selection. Which I guess means keep coming here and giving them your business so center city get a bigger store!
Super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable

If you’re a fuller-​sized woman than do no go here! This is basically an overpriced Victoria’s Secret but lacking in the large inventory. I stopped in to look at wedding lingerie and was quickly disappointed for the following reasons:
1. They have some pretty stuff, but nothing in my size (I’m a 36/​38DD, L/​XL).
2. The woman who helped me was friendly, but in a way which I found to be fake and patronizing.
3. They measured my bra size over my clothes & current bra — which is a big «no, no» when trying to accurately fit someone for a new bra.
4. They only carried one brand of strapless bra, Wacoal, which they didn’t even have in any sizes I could try. (Personally, I find this brand to be poorly constructed and to never shape me well.) If you want a Wacoal bra you might as well save some money and go to Macy’s which has sales and better selection!
5. They were happy to order my size, but said it can take 1 – 2 months. Apparently, they wait until they have a certain number of orders before placing it … not a very customer friendly practice.

HopeChest gets my glowing review every time. Custom orders, superior bra fitting knowledge and inventory from A to D to G and on… go-​to every day bras and panties that are so not run of the mill for my full 32D… the sexiest sleep wear and teddies, and the comfortable? dare I say– designer lingerie pieces for everything/​anything pretty/​sexy.
Their merchandise is unique as is their level of customer service and expertise. I can’t tell you how many bras I have tried on, what designer, what size, what color, what fabric I did/​did not like best… but they remember… every time I pay a visit! Love the owner, love her delicately chosen staff and the 8+ bras resting comfortably in my boudoir/​around my chest!
***you will not leave the store spending under $ 100, but that is not because they do not carry affordable options, they do carry reasonable pieces under $ 60, more so you’re going to love WAY more than one single bra + be completely entranced by the fancier lingerie options (and sets!) + not be able to settle without several matching panties ;-)

Had a great experiencing finding two comfortable and supportive bras! Staff was extremely helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable.

AMAZING. I went in kind of embarrassed that I had never been fitted. The two employees were so inviting and non-​judgemental, I felt super comfortable. The one employee did not even use a tape measure, asked to touch my breast, and knew what size I was right away. I thought she was crazy at first since the cup size was a lot larger than I could ever imagine (in a positive way) but as soon as I put the bra on, I was smiling from ear to ear. She is a genius. It was a life changing experience. Once you put on a bra that feels like it was made custom for you, your confidence levels boost. They had me try a couple others to be sure I didn’t like them more but the first try was perfect. I didn’t want to take it off to ring it up! I practically skipped back to work from my lunch break. (Side note: the fitting only took about 20 minutes as they gave me their attention from the moment I walked in.) The bra was $ 89 but I will 100% be back. Every woman deserves to feel like this, treat yourself!

Here’s what you have to consider when you come here:
WARNING: You may end up spending 200 dollars. Trust me, the next few will tell you why this makes sense.
1. The wrong bra will make you sag, it ruins the perfectly nice tissues that hold you together and once that happens, it’s permanent.
2. Many bras including VS are designed to be trendy and sexy but not a long-​term investment in your form.
3. Try it out, get something here and run after the bus or wear a cross body, see how you look and more importantly feel then decide what you want to buy.

I had a great experience at Hope Chest. I’ve lost a significant amount of weight over the past few years, and never bothered to be re-​fitted. I purchased a voucher from Gilt for $ 100 credit at Hope Chest, so I went in on a Saturday afternoon for a fitting and some new bras. When I walked in, I was immediately greeted by the staff. Katie (I think her name was Katie) measured me, and after asking what exactly I was looking for, offered me several options to try on. She helped checked the fit and found two great new everyday bras for me. A proper fitting has made all the difference — I was a completely different size than I thought. Expect to pay ~$ 90 for a bra at Hope Chest — it’s boutique lingerie. While I’m not totally sold on the idea that a $ 90 bra is that difference from a $ 25 bra from Target, it is worth paying more just for the service experience at Hope Chest. They also have a great selection of pretty lingerie, if you are looking for a gift.

Hallelujah! I went to Hope Chest today and had a great experience. Jen, the owner, is very sweet and really knows her stuff. Turns out I’m slightly between sizes and she helped me find a few really versatile yet pretty bras. I felt like I tried on a bunch but was still only in there for about ³⁰⁄₄₅ minutes, even with cleaning up the cheerios trail left in the changing area by my 1 year old. Prices were around $ 80 – 90, which is really good for good quality bras; I was actually nicely surprised that she wasn’t handing me $ 100+ things to try on. I’ll definitely be going back. In a stroller-​friendly note, there are stairs in the store when you first come in but she helped me and down them and once up the store wasn’t too cramped to navigate with it.

Great store with lots of fun, unique options. Most of their lingerie is higher end, but they have some great stuff from local designers. The service is impeccable and the store has a pleasant, well kept ambience. Come here for a refreshing alternative to VS.

I have always heard about the wonders of a professional bra fitting, so I decided to get one for myself at Hope Chest. The store is really nice inside and the lingerie on display is super pretty.
I was basically the size I thought I was, but also discovered that I can wear another size as well, and can choose between the two, based on the different fits of the bra. The owner suggested several bras that I ended up buying. I was definitely be back next time I need to buy bras or underwear. They keep your size and style on file in their computer system for future shopping trips. The store is dog-​friendly and there is a picture of her cute dog on the wall.
Extra points for musical selection. I loved trying on all of the fancy bras, but listening to Mobb Deep play while doing it made it even better!

How has no one else reviewed this little gem yet?
I have walked by Hope Chest numerous times and decided last week to stop in. I saw on the website they specialize in bra fittings and I have been only moderately satisfied in this department for years. So I thought– why not?
I wish I could remember the name of the lady who helped me… she was wonderful. She measured me and picked out 6 bras to try and had me try them on in a particular order. We hit the mark on her second pick. And she was so right! Hands down, the most beautiful and comfortable bra I have ever owned. They didn’t have the bra in the color I wanted so she is ordering it for me… how awesome!
Keep in mind–
1. They only carry select brands and styles. BUT they can order you anything.
2. Yes, it is pricey. Be prepared to spend $ 60 – 100 on a quality bra.
3. Give it a try! You won’t regret it.
