We used to frequent at this location because of it proximity to my home. But after two bad experiences, we’re done. We had a chicken and broccoli dish and the chicken tasted expired. Most recently we had order eggrolls and disclosed a shellfish allergy; the eggrolls had shrimp.

This place has an interesting décor and the food was pretty ok. Standard Chinese/Japanese take-out. The woman who waited on us was pretty nice and very helpful. We were the only ones in the entire restaurant though at dinner time on a Thursday night.

This is my favorite place for delivery Asian food. Disclaimer: i have never ordered the sushi. I really like their pad Thai, it has a good lime flavor and the basil is fresh and plentiful. My wife enjoyed her coconut shrimp a bunch, we both had no leftovers. Their dumplings are perfect too. I have never had an issue with delivery, each time i ordered the food came rather quickly and at the right temperature. Mikawa has earned a top spot in my pile of takeout menus.

My friends and I wanted to order good sushi while we were getting ready to go out. Unfortunately, delivery took longer than it was supposed to. But most of all we were really disappointed with the quality of the fish. It tasted very fishy — and we were nervous we might get food poisoning from it. I ended up tossing one of my tuna rolls because I was nervous about the quality. None of us are picky eaters — I can’t say I’ve ever thrown out sushi before. Maybe it was that particular night — but I won’t be returning here. I’d rather go back to Yellowtail which was on time with their orders and had no quality issues.

We had an awful experience. Menu and prices looked great. Inside not so much but whatever. I went with my nieces who were out of town and wanted to have a nice dinner. There were only 2 tables seated in there. One table was almost done, the other was a party of about 10 waiting for everyone to show. It took about 2 hours from start to finish for our meal. There was only one waitress who was answering phones, handling the take out orders, handling the delivery guy, and waiting tables. She was overwhelmed and had a bad attitude. We had to go and get her to take our order after sitting there for a half an hour. She was not attentive because she was doing 20 other things. Our food came before our apps because the sushi guy was backed up. It took over an hour for our food to come. Mind you, there was one table that was finishing up and one table that hasn’t started yet. That was it in the whole place. The pad Thai was good. The sushi didn’t taste like the rice was fresh. Presentation had a lot to be desired. Sadly, because the waitress was so overwhelmed she was miserable. I will never ever go back or recommend this place. I was embarrassed because I wanted a nice dinner for my nieces and instead had a nightmarish dinner.

I’ve had delivery here once and takeout once. It’s very conveniently located, around the corner from my apartment(literally a 1 minute walk door to door), so I suppose it’ll be my go to sushi spot. As a vegan, I can’t speak to the freshness of the fish, but their edamame, seaweed salad, & veggie rolls were all pretty tasty. Seems like there are a lot of complaints with how long delivery takes, so I think I’ll stick to takeout… this close to my apartment, how can I not?

This is our go-to place for Asian take-out. My husband is in the midst of a deep love affair with their General Tso’s Chicken that I will never quite understand. I do always think it’s tasty when I steal a bite — it’s all white meat chicken and they will serve it with really tasty brown rice upon request. I think the flavor of the sauce is VERY mild though– I prefer a little heat with my entrees. Well really I prefer heat with everything ;) I am not a huge fan of their sushi but it’s average and passable. I have been fairly satisfied with their spicy combo but have been seriously disappointed by their spicy crab roll(is that really«crab?» …I think not.) Anyways, delivery service is usually fairly prompt for Philly… meaning I know I need to order an hour before I am going to be absolutely starving. It will continue to be out go-to place for delivery and if you are ordering through GrubHub, this is def one of your best option for Chinese-American cuisine… trust me– I have done exhaustive research.

Mikawa is our go to place for Chinese food. The fact that we live a few blocks away definitely helps that. But I must say that since they opened little over a year ago their kitchen has really gotten much better. I am not sure if they got a new chef or just got into the groove with their recipes but now I really enjoy eating from here. We usually do take out and my favorites are sweet and sour chicken, hot and soup soup, green beans in garlic sauce, steamed vegetables(the sauce comes on the side which I use for dipping… a good alternative if you don’t like over sauced food), Hunan shrimp, chicken and broccoli and shrimp lo mein. Their prices are good and the staff is always friendly when to pick up. I recommend it to nearby folks who need a good Chinese take out place.

Mikawa offers all I am looking for from a neighbourhood restaurant; good food, clean place, very reasonable price and efficient service. Their menu is pretty big, not fancy, but everything I tried have always been good, both for lunch and dinner. They use fresh ingredients, and have good portion, often I have to ask for a doggie bag. I’ve tried their Queen roll — soo good and big rolls(shrimp tempura, eel, cream cheese and avocado inside, wrapped with pink soy bean paper), Kobe roll(tasty tuna and salmon with some crunchy inside yum:) Their lunch special($ 6 only! and you can still bring home leftover) Kung Pao Chicken and Shrimp with garlic sauce were delicious! Although their Beef Mei Fun(stir fry beef with skinny noodle) is absolutely light and tasty, I agree with other review that their Pad Thai was not quite a pad thai I am used to get in a regular Thai restaurant which Mikawa is not. I still give Mikawa 4 stars, because everything else I’ve had there is excellent and the service is always very friendly.

I was extremely happy to add this to my go to Asian delivery spots, BUT with the exception I never order the pad Thai again. That ish was nasty. The chicken was rubbery and indelible, and it just wasn’t pad Thai at all-no tamarind, no fish sauce(at least that I could taste), and it had basil in it? Anyway, I should’ve known better than to order it off a pan Asian menu where that was the only Thai item. However, everything else we ordered was awesome. The Chinese entrees were delicious, and the wonton soup was an enormous portion for $ 3. The delivery was speedy, this is always a plus. Definitely just had buyers remorse while my boyfriend was enjoying his Chinese food much, much more than my Thai fail :-(

Sushi is one of those genres of food that I struggle to step outside of my comfort zone with. I have my go-to spots, and I stay within those parameters. However, as I rifled through my cabinets famished, tired and jonesin’ for a spicy tuna roll, Mikawa was the first menu I found. Free delivery? Done. Delivery was fast and the egg drop soup I ordered with it was still steaming hot. Fresh sushi with a good spicy kick. My hankering was fulfilled. Yum.

We randomly stumbled into this place after first stopping at Makiman and Sumo Sushi with a party of 5 and no luck. We went in with low expectations(Saturday night and we were the only people there, and only 20 Unilocal reviews?) but gave it the benefit of the doubt because it’s in an odd spot. We were pleasantly surprised by the décor/ambiance and the extensive menu. There was a lot of Chinese and sushi options and even some Thai. SERVICE: The(only) waitress brought over those crunchy fried wontons with sauce which was nice to munch on while we made decisions. She was nice, a bit soft spoken, but not overbearing which can happen when there are very few customers and she brought out low sodium soy sauce promptly when I asked, and a new little dish when she realized I had poured regular soy into my dish. She was also happy to split the bill and bring one out early for my friends who had to leave. The food took a while to come out though, especially considering we were practically the only people there. FOOD: My friend got: the seaweed salad which was actually pretty big and on a bed of cucumbers. It tasted like every other seaweed salad I’ve ever had, so, good; and the shrimp udon soup which was pretty big, full of fresh ingredients and she was very happy with. My other friends got the chicken teriyaki and chicken udon noodles and both liked it. Both were very reasonably priced for the portion size and came with yummy fried rice that my one friend reallly liked. I was most impressed with the love boat which I split with a friend. It came with 2 miso soups, a dragon roll, spicy tuna, 4 types of nigiri(2 of each) and 4 types of sashimi in(3 of each). This was a pretty awesome deal for $ 40! It wasn’t the best sushi I’ve ever had in my life but for the price, it was definitely good. The fish tasted fresh. I would have liked more crunchies in my spicy tuna. The rolls were normal size, not too small, could have been a bit bigger. The nigiri and sashimi were large portions. OVERALL: I might go back when I’m in the mood for cheap sushi or chinese and maybe also order from them. I’m pretty sure they are on grubhub and livingsocialdelivery. Also next time I’ll BYOB!

Really good Chinese and Japanese food! I am half Japanese and I cannot wait to take my dad to go eat there when he comes to visit me in two weeks. The ambiance is also outstanding. It is really nicely decorated and most important super clean. Price-wise it is really affordable. Definitely, one of my favs!

We ordered two servings of Sweet and Sour soup and 7 sushi rolls on a rainy Saturday night. We ordered on grubhub at around 7pm. It took over an hour and half for our delivery to arrive(grubhub estimated about an hour). Sweet and sour soup was huge for only $ 4. We ordered spicy crab roll, spicy tuna roll, mango roll, sweet potato roll and 3 special rolls(chorishi fire roll, volcano roll, zen roll). The spicy tuna, volcano and zen rolls were our favorites. Both volcano and zen rolls were pretty similar as both had shrimp tempura and eel sauce. The zen roll was a little lighter tasting as it also had cream cheese inside. Prices were pretty average for sushi in the City– $ 4 for fruit roll, $ 5 – 5.50 for regular roll(spicy tuna or crab) and $ 11-$ 12 for special roll. And I would say the quality was pretty average. I know that some places in the city charge more than this for special rolls, but they also provide larger, more interesting rolls than this place. The special rolls were decent but nothing that spectacular. Mango roll was pretty boring– just a piece of mango in some rice. Like: — Very large menu– both Chinese and Japanese options — Huge serving for soup — Soup was still very hot when it was delivered — No delivery charge — Delivery man was very nice Dislike: — Took over hour and a half for delivery(rainy Saturday night at dinner time could have something to so with this)

We decided to order from Mikawa after gettinga menu from a guy handing them out on the corner– and we were so happy we did! We just moved to the center city area and were in the market for a good take-out Chinese place and Mikawa is it. We ordered sushi(zen roll), avocado salad, steamed dumplings and house special mei fun– all of which were delicious! The best part is that they have a variety of Chinese, Japanese and even Thai(pad Thai and some rice dishes) so you get different things! Highly recommend this place.

Mikawa is one of my new favorite lunch spots in Center City. Their lunch specials are great: 12 rolls and miso soup for $ 7? I’m there! Their sushi is awesome, my favorite is the spicy salmon roll. The eel is kickass and plated really creatively. The servers are always really sweet and the food always comes out quickly. Can’t wait to go back!

Being it’s finals week, I have a lot of studying and no time to cook. I had a craving for fried rice, so I went on Grubhub to browse around. I came upon Mikawa and the menu looked appetizing so I decided to order from there.(Free delivery w/$ 15min drew me in really) I always have a craving for sushi, and luckily they serve both Japanese and Chinese food. I ordered Ikura sushi, Spring roll, and Beef Lo Mein.(ironic, i decided last minute not to get fried rice) including $ 3 tip, total came up to be $ 21. They packed a lot of Ikura onto the sushi. It was delicious and satisfying. The spring roll had shrimp and it was delicious! One order of two is definitely not enough. The beef lo mein taste good like others. However, it does taste like there’s less MSG. Another thing I like about this place is how neat they pack their food. I hate it when i get my food and the juice is spilled into the bag. This place is indeed extremely neat. This would definitely be my take-out go to place! Edit: I think I like their sushi better than their chinese cuisine. Their hot and sour soup is ok.

This restaurant opened not too long ago so the wife and I were walking by after a night out and decided to give it a try. This wash kind of restaurant nice and mellow. The funny thing about was my wife and I were the only two inside the place which was cool with me. We both got meals. She had shrimp and broccoli and I has the general tso chicken. Both orders came with fried rice and spring roll. We are both picky eaters but I have to say the food was actually very tasty! I would recommend this for anyone who is looking for good Chinese food with a nice laid back atmosphere. PS: If you are driving be prepared to find parking lol!!!

Came in with friends after seeing the 25% off dine in sign outside the restaurant. It seems that in Philadelphia there are no deals on sushi, so 25% off is unheard of and very appealing. It’s also BYOB! The place is pretty small and there was only one waitress for the five or so tables that were in there. I didn’t even notice at first, but on one side of the menu they have Japanese food and sushi, and on the other side they have Chinese and Thai food. The best of both worlds! I started with miso soup($ 2) which was just ok but my friends liked their wonton soup. One got a shimp wonton soup which came in a huge bowl with lots of wontons and noodles. I ordered the kobe roll($ 11, spicy white tuna with crunch topped with salmon and avocado) and an eel and avocado roll($ 5). I tried my friend’s dancing girl roll(spicy tuna topped with more tuna and avocado) and it was amazing. They left the pieces of fish in big pieces instead of mushing it up with the spicy mayo which i hate. They even offered brown rice for the sushi and didn’t charge extra for it! They were generously sized rolls and the fish tasted really fresh. One person got a special off the Chinese portion of the menu and said it was really good, and it came with an egg roll. The presentation is probably the strangest iIve ever seen in sushi restaurants, each plate came with this fake ice cube that flashed different colors. It was cool at first but ended up being kind of annoying/distracting by the end. Service was good. Our waitress was super nice but our meals came out about 5 min apart which was strange. The 25% off deal is running through the end of the month, so I will definitely be back!
