I decided to try this place for something different but now I know why there is never a line there, the hoagies are terrible. The so called italian hoagie had one thin slice of prov cheese and salami the rest was packed full of ham and soggy lettuce… just call it a ham hoagie instead. I assumed they would know how to make an italian hoagie in south philly but guess I was wrong b/c that is NOT how you make an italian hoagie. For $ 9.75 I threw away more than half of it the only good part was the roll and thats the only reason it gets 1 star. I’ve had better at food carts in center city… pass on this place.

One of the best offerings in the ballpark is here, and you don’t often have to wait in a long line as you should be subject to at the more popular cheesesteak places, hot dog places, etc. My favorite thing about the Planet Hoagies, though, is that they offer a rotating menu, naming a special hoagie after a certain honorable Phillies player, only available for a limited time only during that weekly series. Whether or not the player actually has been to this Planet Hoagie or enjoys any of those ingredients doesn’t matter in the long run because, the average fan just wants to eat. I go for these specialty hoagies and I try them all. Returning fans such as myself can make a fictional connection to the honored player based on an interest we all have: we all like to try different hoagies. Other vendors in the stadiums, with their consistency to form, fail to deliver the absolutely awesome quality of getting to the Planet Hoagie to see if your favorite player/food is being honored today. I also like the pre-order feature which was installed recently. This has taken the already efficient operation and made it practically flawless. You could get back to your seat a little quicker if there is ever a line, thanks to this technology.
