Sorry not impressed. Saw this on Shark Tank last year and was excited to try it. Got their standard grilled cheese and a donut thing and a tomato soup. Grilled cheese was kind of ok, not great. Donut was burned, and soup I have had better out of a can. When I saw the total when ordering I thought this had better be good and it was really not. Will not return. Maybe you will have a better experience then me.

We have been here since our initial visit, and while we were pleased and left full., but it definitely had some things lacking. My wife had the mac and chee sandwich, and it was kinda dull and boring. Just mac’n’cheese slapped on some bread. There should have been bacon or something to add layers to the flavor. We ordered the smores donut, and that was an absolute mistake! It was a sugar bomb that was gloppy and was not the least bit appetizing. We made it through a bite each, and quickly pushed it aside for fear of having to taste it coming back up. Overall, this is a place you’ll want to visit for a good meal, but it does have its flaws.

Food for me a little sub par. Second visit to this location and I now remember why I have not been back since they opened. Food is kind of ok, but not much to brag about. Also just really expensive! To get a sandwich drink and a soup to be at 12 bucks is crazy. Would stick to just going to any other fast food place for half the price and actually leave full. They had a note on the door saying they are now closing at 8 pm on week days so guessing things aren’t going well…

I love this restaurant! The grilled cheese is super crispy. The creamy tomato basil is delicious! I wasn’t crazy about the grilled cheese donut because it seemed more like bread than a donut and I could barely taste any sweetness. but I had to try it, right? The other plus to the Pickerington location is the Gigi’s Cupcake shop next door which is owned by the same people who own this Tom & Chee franchise.

This place is fantastic! The menu was a bit overwhelming at first, but once ordered, the food was delicious! I highly recommend the Smores Grilled cheese donut. FANTASTIC!

First time here and they have so many options for a hot sandwich. I got little of everything a small salad and small sandwich and 1 cup of soup and 1 dipper of soup and everything was amazing. Dani my cashier and server was so knowledgable and helpful with making my order. Comfort food and yummy.

I love cheese. Like, really love cheese. And the concept of this place was so appealing. My partner and I were excited to try this place out. But walking in was weird. The colors of the walls and the whole setup was tacky and off-putting. It was like walking into a ketchup and mustard themed takeout. Then their sandwiches were so greasy and difficult to handle. We couldn’t taste anything outside of butter. How do you make a turkey sandwich that straight up tastes like butter? How can a sandwich ooze of cheese but when I bite into I can’t taste the cheese at all? Just butter. It wasn’t a surprise that we both got heartburn afterwards. As our stomachs ached with regret, we wished we had spent our money elsewhere.

I really enjoyed my visit to Tom & Chee in Pickerington. It was my first time eating there and I got the Grilled Cheese Salad. The menu said that it came with«grilled cheese croutons,» which I thought meant crunchy little hard things covered with cheese powder or something, but to my delight, there was an entire grilled cheese sandwich on top! Very, VERY filling. Probably not the best choice for watching one’s waistline, though, heehee. The facility was very clean and inviting, and the staff was just super. I’ll definitely visit again.

Pretty sub par, honestly. First of all, the staff doesn’t know anything about the menu. The special soup was buffalo chicken, so when I asked what was in it the cashier said«mostly its chicken and buffalo». When I inquired further, that was all she knew. So I ordered a standard tomato soup and a grilled cheese sandwich with roast beef. Pretty blah and disappointing. The soup was weirdly bitter, to the point I didn’t want to eat it, and honestly the grilled cheese was not a grilled cheese. It was simply a sandwich with a bit of melted cheese. Absolutely not worth the price. I can’t comment on the donut sandwiches as I haven’t tried them, but perhaps they are the better bet.

I saw TOM + CHEE on Shark Tank and I was super excited when I passed one near my doctor’s office in Pickerington. The first time I ate there I got American on sourdough. It was a little greasy and I was shocked it was $ 3.95 for a plain grilled cheese sandwich! It was no bigger than a sandwich you could make at home. It was toasted well and tasted fine but I was taken aback at the cost. I could make a dozen grilled cheeses just like it for that price! Everybody deserves a second chance, so I tried them again about a month later. I got a cup of creamy tomato basil soup and a pep + chee with a side of ranch. I also got a Diet Coke and my tab came to around $ 10! The cup of soup was not great, it tasted like a creamy marinara sauce, and came in a container I’m estimating was around ½ cup(4 oz.). The sandwich was so greasy I couldn’t finish it and it made me sick the rest of the night. I felt completely ripped off both times and wasn’t impressed with anything I ate. The customer service, on the other hand, was great! Everybody was really upbeat and friendly and the service was fast. Bottom line: go buy a loaf of bread and a pack of Kraft singles and make the same quality sandwiches for the whole family for the cost of one sandwich here!

I ate here a couple weeks after it opened and did not have a great experience. The staff was friendly, but that was about it. We only ordered 3 items and it was over $ 20. It is pricey and the quality was horrible. I’ve talked to other people that went around the same time and they had similar comments. I’d be curious to go back and review again since they’ve been open for a while. Hopefully it has improved.

Blah. The grilled cheese had a off-putting, oily taste. The chunky tomato soup, recommended by the cashier, wasn’t even as good as the Progresso brand. I was so incredibly disappointed with the two items I ordered, that I have not been back. Melt does it way better and for not much more money. If you’re going to serve grilled cheese and tomato soup as your main staple, at least have the decency to do it well. I’m not a good cook by any means, and I can honestly say I would rather have had my grilled cheese and canned soup at home.

Tonight was my first time eating here. I got a mushroom and onion on rye with the vegan cheese. I got it to go, so it sat a bit before I was able to dig in. The bread stayed crispy and the inside was warm and melty. I didn’t try any soup, but I definitely will the next time I’m in Columbus. Great first time visit!

Unique place with pretty decent food. The create your own grilled cheese with american cheese, pepper jack cheese, and bacon was very tasty. The beer-cheese soup was pretty good. The soda was well blended(sometimes it’s to thin at other places). I would come here again and encourage others to come here with me, but I wouldn’t call it my personal favorite.

I’ve been a Tom + Chee fan since their early days on Fountain Square in Cincinnati. I’ve had both good and bad experiences at multiple locations. My trip to the Pickerington location is definitely at the top of the list of positive Tom + Chee dining outcomes. First off, I went with a large group. And I mean a more than 20 people sized group. Our organizer called ahead and they assured us that they could accommodate a group that size, and they certainly did a fantastic job. The food was actually better than the other locations I’d been to, and that’s on a good day. And the service was so speedy, I was a little shocked by it. I was also impressed with the friendliness of the staff. I ordered the mac and cheese grilled cheese sandwich, which was a little on the dry side, so I’d probably order something else next time, but it was fun to try. The bread itself was at the perfect amount of crunchy that I like a grilled cheese sandwich to be, but the mac and cheese inside was dry and kind of not the best. The tomato basil soup was delicious, however, so I just dipped the sandwich in and got over it. I also tried the S’mores donut for dessert and it seriously made up for the off-putting mac and cheese. At other locations, the donuts themselves have been smushy or dried out, but not here, not this time. It was perfection. My friends who’d never had Tom + Chee before all seemed super impressed by the food and excited about coming back during next year’s nerd convention. Not a major complaint, but it seemed like napkins were not in a convenient spot, til I found them by the drink machines. Also, yes, this is a bit on the expensive side, but not anymore so than, say, lunch at Panera or something less fun than Tom + Chee.

Waitstaff is very nice but food is sub par. Might as well make your own grilled cheese at home & the soup tastes more like ketchup than ‘tomato basil’ It was the only place around so I gave it a shot & it was even less impressive than I imagined. Go here at your own risk!

It’s grilled cheese, soup and salads. I’m a fan, it’s a simple concept that works. It might be a tad pricey(if only the sandwhiches were bigger), maybe a dollar or two more than what I would prefer to pay, but it was very good and filling. I was concerned when I first came after reading all the reviews. However, the sandwich(flying pig), soup(classic tomato) and salad(green goat) I ordered were really good. Not over the top to rave about, but it wasn’t bad, horrible, or unappetizing, it was good and fulfilling. The salad was super fresh and the soup was thick and tasty. I cannot compare them to Melt since I have not been there yet. But hopefully soon :) Service was great, very friendly and attentive. They cleared our tables for us which was nice of them to do. The one thing I do love and wish they had, because it’s one of my favorites with grilled cheese and tomato soup is tator tots!

If you’ve made a dozen grilled cheese at home, you’ve probably made one better. The bread is thick cut(not by them), and in a choice of about 5. Same variety in cheese’s. That would also be, «Make Your Own», at a cost. The entire menu is ala carte’. Which we prefer, because we rarely want a beverage. They have many grilled cheese recipe suggestions to choose from at a better price. Just like any sandwich shop. A couple of different soups to choose from, with the option of smooth or chunky. We were very surprised to see that there is NO signature grilled cheese and tomato soup combo. Doesn’t the name practically scream it? Now for our experience… When you walk in, it’s bright and colorful. Employees standing before a GIANT chalk menu, ready to take your order, I think. Guests are standing back, looking at menus that one of them comes out and hands you. «Do we seat ourselves?» Wherever you like sir. «Will someone come to take our order?» No sir, you have to come back up here to order. We sit, we browse, we get up to ask questions, we sit, we decide, I get up to order. We chose counter seating right in front of the kitchen station, to observe what we may order on our next visit. The drinks are all self serve Coke products. Not all were available. Seems like the perfect scene for one of those 1000 choice Coke machines. At the bread station, we watched a girl give 2 swipes of a buttered brush, and THROW it to the grill. The butter will not cover all of your sandwich, which is grilled bread(toast). Cheese choice goes on, cover to steam cheese. These are moved to the building station, where the accompaniments are added. A lot of hot open cheese bread sat there waiting it’s turn to be dressed, getting cold. We did see a stack of crumbled bacon on some, while still on the grill. She cuts it, lays it in a basket, and pushes it down the counter. Someone then may put a cup, or bowl of soup with it. This will continue to sit under no heat source until the entire order is complete. Then it sits there, as someone says«Runner!» and no one comes. It appeared that runners only picked up when there were about 3 tickets, or 6 baskets. In a restaurant, there is a check back after the first bite to see if you need anything else for your meal. These people vanished behind the kitchen until sent out again. We observed others going up to the cashiers, or calling over the counter of the kitchen for assistance. We were served, and poof, she was gone. The soup of the day(Beer Cheese) was warm, not hot, and without any flavor. The side of Mac n Cheese is made to order in a skillet. It was hot and gooey, but without flavor. My wife’s sandwich(Pep + Chez) had only 2 pieces of pepperoni on a side, with a drizzle of sauce. We had to do what others did, and flag the attention of the kitchen over the counter. The girl asked the bread girl to start another. They left the mistake in front of us, to continue to lift the bread, staring at the sandwich, next to the $ 20 receipt. We ate the soup, mac n cheese, and my sandwich. It claimed to have spicy mustard, but we both agreed it was better after I got up, walked to the drink station, and added a packet of Guldens spicy mustard. We associate sandwich in a basket with chips, a pickle, and a condiment packet. Not here. Now we are done eating, ANDSTILLNORE-COOK. I ask for a manager(Ashlee), who we explain this visit to. She apologizes, and tells us that the item can not have much seasoning, so they will appeal to many.(The nursing home bland dietary crowd was more like it) During our entire 3−5min conversation, we say, «The sandwich has STILL not come out». She refunds our entire check, and invites us back again on her. «Is Sunday lunch a bad crew? Would we be better on a stronger staff day?» «Any day is a good day» she reassures us. That refund, and invite is another 3 – 5 minutes, and STILL no sandwich. We have mixed feelings about a return. Yes it’s a free meal, but does it taste good if it’s a hassle? I was at the VA clinic canteen on Monday where I had a better grilled cheese with tomato slice for $.99. Skipping all of my drama, you will get a sandwich for a price you may balk at. P. S the free Wi-Fi is Starbucks. 9÷7÷14. Revisited with meal vouchers for food to go. Mgr Zach immediately stepped up, and took my order. After a 10 minute drive home, the food was very hot. The food was very good this time. We found the pizza soup very enjoyable. If you are getting food to go, ask for it to be foil wrapped. I will wait to change my star rating until after I have gone in anonymously without manager support.

In the land where Melt is king of the melted sandwiches, Tom+Chee is a peasant. I ordered the Hot and Spicy which was $ 4.95. It was horrible. You would expect a grilled cheese to be crispy on the outside and melty on the inside. The top was crisp but the bottom was extremely soggy. The flavors didn’t blend well at all. I ordered a cup of the chunky tomato basil which was $ 3, about $ 2 more than it should have been. I expected something like Wolfgang Puck, what I got was a watery tomato soup with some chunks of flavorless tomato and no hint of basil. So glad I didn’t pay $ 4.50 for a bowl of it, even the small«dipper» size of it is $ 1.50. This brought my total to about $ 8.50 with tax, not including a drink which would have been a couple bucks more. I don’t believe there is much value in the meals here. This meal should have been about $ 6 or $ 6.50 at most based on the quality of ingredients and portion sizes. $ 8.50 was way too much. As far as service goes, they bring you your meal and that’s it. You dump your own trays and get your own drinks. I don’t have a desire to ever go back but if someone else was dead set on going back I would give it another try.
