The soup and salad were pretty good Seating seemed odd tables to high for booths They do seem a little pricey for what you get

The food is good but the service is atrocious. I order a salad with green peppercorn which was delicious. I tried to order more so my friends could dip their chips but no one ever came back to the table so I asked another server… she forgot but eventually brought a little cup out with no apology and it was the wrong dressing. My waitress finally came back and claimed I was wrong and that was the same dressing I had on my salad even though it was a different color and tasted nothing like the original. No, just no… I definitely did not appreciate her attitude.

The best pub in Pinehurst! Friendly, knowledgeable staff, great food, and a truly pub décor!

Loved this fun atmosphere! The fish and chips were delicious. We went early and brought our son… perfect for the family. Also looks like a fun late night place :)

Food is really good and the atmosphere is really cool, but service leaves much to be desired. Also it is a little cramped, but the village is small, so don’t come with more than 4 people.

Came here on a lazy Sunday afternoon, place was about ¾ full. Service was very friendly and attentive. Forget what sandwich I had; think it was their«specialty»…whatever it was, it was good(sorry for not being specific… it’s been a couple of months). Will probably visit again when I’m back in Pinehurst next weekend.

Excellent atmosphere with periodic live music by local musicians. Food is good, although last time I got a pita it was burned on the bottom. Service can get to be slow when they are busy here. However, there’s an excellent array of menu options for reasonable prices and I would certainly recommend

JJ is the best and most entertaining bartender in all of pinehurst. She’s always quick with the drinks and her laugh is infectious. The rest of the staff is great as well. Lucy and James are also great people and they make the whole place feel inviting and friendly.

Great live music and friendly pub atmosphere. But the service to the outside area was extremely slow.

On my last day at the Pinehurst, I wanted to venture outside of the hotel for something«local» I guess… basically, I wanted an excuse to check out the village that I hadn’t seen yet. After perusing around the village for a little bit, I settled on Drum & Quill, and it’s definitely a cute little place. It appears that they regularly have live music and that this would be a fun place to watch football games. Sadly, I was eating solo so I didn’t linger too long to enjoy the atmosphere after my meal, but I thought my server was really friendly and the food was okay.

Love this place. Owner has obviously traveled and knows how to create a great experience. Feels like a cool bar in SF or a cozy pub in Scotland/Ireland. Food is classic with modern preparation. Chef knows what he is doing. Service is usually friendly and usually swift.

We went today between a wedding and a reception. We had 3 hours to kill. We planned on hitting a couple of different bars while we were in town. JJ was the bartender and because of her we stayed there the whole time. She made a great drink for my wife and was great all the way around. Would go back just to hang out with JJ. Highly recommend it if JJ is working. The food and drinks were great but JJ made it worth recommending.

«Wow», is all I have to say. But I am going to continue anyway… JJ is the all-time bartender of bartenders in all the land. Her service was impeccable. I highly recommend her serving. She is hilarious, especially her laugh. James was the man as well. I have 6 more days at Pinehurst for golf and I will be at the Drum and Quill every night.

Great service and awesome food. I so appreciate when chefs take the time to cook from scratch. Even if it’s «pub» food, which this is above and beyond. Korean beef tacos with spicy mango salsa!!!’ Yes, it’s a busy little pub, with live music so it does get loud and crowded on a Friday night. Yet our server James rocked it!(which I need to clarify this for people not around from here; that is not what usually happens. Usually you get stuck with indifferent servers or bartenders who think they are doing you a favor by showing up to work. Believe me, caring about your job makes a huge impression and a huge difference!) I’m so glad we managed to come out of our bubble from Aberdeen. I indulged in their homemade pimento cheese and while I know I will be mucous monster tomorrow. ITWASSOGOOD!

Our server was fabulous. The food was good… nothing amazing. Had fish and chips and chicken sandwiches. My only real complaint is that the booth was so tiny it made for an uncomfortable meal. we should have just asked to sit at a table.

Came into DQ after a round of golf at Southern Pines. We got off the course around 2:30 so it was tough to find lunch after that time in the Village. We sat at the bar at DQ and chatted with the woman bartender. We started with the DQ salad and she recommended the Italian Naan-za. The salad was great and large enough to be an entrée. The green peppercorn dressing was amazing and all the produce was very fresh. The naan-za was pretty good as well. The bartender was very warm and offered is some great additional shopping and dining recommendations. I’ll definitely go back to DQ!

Food was good, but the service was the reason i stopped. Waitress was friendly and sincere. Sitting outside on patio while the breeze came through and having the house IPA, I felt it was better than the resort and the staff appreciated us being there! Nice change from most places…

DELICIOUSFOODTURNEDBADBYTERRIBLESERVICE Wanted a burger after soccer practice with my son. I’m usually a big fan of supporting local businesses as you generally get a better quality product for a good value. Instead I came to the Drum and Quill and got taken advantage of by an upselling waitress. They were advertising two specials, dollar off drafts and dollar off tacos for ‘taco tuesday’. So I decided to take advantage of this, my 8 yr old son wanted a plain cheeseburger. The waitress asked him if he wanted fries with his burger and bacon. He of course said yes, I of course assumed that the fries came with the burger. The waitress never made any indication that it didn’t. She also sold me on the ‘special’ buffalo chicken tacos(3 chicken tenders on 3 slices of lettuce in tortilla. Which she then offered me a salad, which I turned down after asking if it was extra. At that time I also told the waitress that I would be putting in an order to go for the green tomato burger(yes I will take fries with that too). Then came the bill, what should have been $ 32 came out to $ 42 with all of the ‘upsells’ that were not declared as ‘upsells’. Who charges extra for fries instead of freshly made chips? My beer was not at the special price, and the buffalo tacos were 3 dollars more than the tacos that I originally ordered! When I questioned the waitress about this, she got surly and informed me that it was in the menu and nobody ever questioned it before. We then sat around for another 30 minutes waiting for the burger that we ordered to go to come out. I feel like I was absolutely taken advantage of and brushed off. The food is delicious, but does not warrant the terrible service and predatory tactics. Save yourself the heartache and go somewhere else.

Good Food and real friendly pub atmosphere. Owner at the bar quick with a joke And light up your smoke. Good music in the background and plenty of strategic TV locations that blend into the décor! This could be the Cheers of Pinehurst.

I stopped in for lunch and was immediately greeted by friendly staff. Ordered the special which was a patty melt. The bread was homemade marbled rye and delicious. The burger was cooked perfectly. The homemade potato chips are crisp and irresistible. By some miracle they are thick and crunchy not oily at all.
