Really really enjoyed our meal. 3 of us had the Lasagna, Pollo Pesto and Pollo Marsala. All were well prepared. The Pesto was creamy and not over powering like Pesto is typically done. I honestly have to say all dishes were prepared perfectly. I would go back again. Delicious meal and credit to the Chef.

I am a local. Decided to finally try this place out. I took my 10yr old son w me. Im sorry to say I wasnt impressed. I thought the servers were dressed sloppy for a «nice café». Trashy. I believe it was the owner/manager who was on the phone. So unprofessional. Embarrassing to say the least. He was on a phone call swearing like a sailor. My sons mouth dropped wide open. The food was absolutely disgusting. Definitely not worth the $$. Very Disappointed customer. Wont be returning.

I work down the street at Brad Hill’s office, and drive by Shell Café all the time. Decided to drive past Giuseppes’ line out the door, and so glad we did. FOODWASAWESOME. My girls were in heaven. One had the lasagna, one had the Linguini and I had the pesto chicken with torellini’s. We all kept sharing each other’s. It started off with a great salad, great outdoor dining, and then came the mouth watering food. Having my leftovers right now, and loving it… again. Yes, has Pismo prices, but if you are waiting in line at Guiseppe’s, this is very much worth the 3 – 4 block walk or drive…

I ate here last summer while at the Pismo car show… liked it enough to have breakfast and dinner. Going back this year… at the car show again.

The food was not bad, a bit pricey, but Saturday nite June 11, stand up comedy show? HORRIBLE Incredibly raunchy for a crowd eating dinner, far too much swanky sex references, disrespected those who died in 9/11,and one amateur actually said F*’# Ali, didn’t care that he died… Watch your crowd… Personal friends of THELATE Great In the diner. Horrible horrible comedy show Will never go back to shell beach café and I’m a local. Up your game

My new favorite breakfast place on the central coast. Their tri tip Benedict is amazing, and those potatoes though. Solid selection of craft beer.

I like the vibe of this spot but unfortunately I didn’t enjoy what I ordered. Our server was great and we were sat immediately. The bloody Mary’s were good but the shell dunk was flat and flavorless. The Ajus was too plain so the whole meal just tasted like unseasoned meat. The Brisket and eggs were pretty good though and the fries were seasoned perfectly. This place is probably bomb but I didnt luck out with my first order. Ill give it another shot when Im back in town for sure!

A short little review, just to say that they served the very best bacon I’ve ever eaten in my life. Nice ambiance too, with lots of down-to-Earth local history adorning the walls and an abundance of outdoor tables. But more than anything, if you eat meat, definitely get the bacon!

Yum! Their clam chowder is delicious and I would dare to say might be better than splash café. Great view easy access off the fwy and fast service.

AVOID! This place is going down the drain. Server was adequate although dressed as if he was gonna be lounging on the couch all day, interior of restaurant was dingy and in disrepair, pricing for breakfast items was completely outrageous. Definitely will not return on our next trip. Bummer.

I gave this place a shot after purchasing a SLO Deal Saver Coupon — $ 15 for $ 30 worth of food, dinner menu only. I love trying new places and a good deal, but Shell Café is neither. The average price of dinner menu items is $ 20. Assuming you order two $ 20 dishes, the coupon only saves you $ 5. Aside from the poor deal, the food and service were also subpar. I ordered the Shell Café Bowl with Seared Ahi. The rice was old, vegetables bland, and ahi overcooked. Thanks but no thanks.

Really loved this place. We had a variety of dishes off the menu: clam chowder bowl, fish grill tacos, tri-tip sandwich with homemade chips, and bacon patty melt with onion rings. The woman who waited on us for great as well. Will come again when we are in Pismo.

Hands down the worst eggs Benedict I’d ever had. I had a single bite. The eggs were completely cooked hard(not poached). The country potatoes were cold and had absolutely no seasoning when we received the meal. The waitress did not come back and ask if I wanted more coffee in the 20 min we were waiting for our food. After we got the food I waited 7 min for the waitress to check on us before finally taking my plate from the patio inside. My daughter’s pancakes tasted old. She said the ones the make out of those dispensers in hotel rooms are better. Her over easy eggs were fried solid with no runny yolks. The sausage she had was actually dripping in grease, but tasted good to her. I literally only had 2 bites… horrible. and $ 17 for that? No thanks. I won’t be back.

Shell Café. Avoid this place like the plague. Unless you like slow service, cold food, dirty restaurants, and high prices. I’ve given this place so many chances because it’s close to my work — and they have just never been consistent in the quality of their food. The management is useless — after a particularly bad experience I spoke to Charles(the owner) who was entirely unapologetic and somehow in his deluded thought process, blamed the poor dining experience me for having a bad attitude. I was shocked by his lack of professionalism — it felt like he broadsided me with his truck in the parking lot. I hate leaving 1 star — but Charles’ behavior has unfortunately landed himself there. After such poor treatment — an apology can go a long way.

Came here on a whim, I did notice the 31⁄2 rating but I like to give places the benefit of the doubt. Ordered 2 kids cheeseburger with bacon, fish & chips and the pulled pork sandwich with fries. Kids cheeseburgers had a thin overcooked patty and the bacon was almost burnt, kids still ate it but that’s not saying much. Fish & Chips were bland and the breading was soggy. Pulled pork had decent flavor, but the meat was a mixture of shredded and little dry cubes. The fries were limp and tasted a bit undercooked. Overall I wouldn’t come here again. Way expensive for the quality of the food. Cost: Pulled pork $ 10.95 fries $ 2.95 Fish & Chips $ 14.95 kids burger and fries $ 7.95 +bacon $ 1.95 kids burger and fries $ 7.95 +bacon $ 1.95 Iced Tea $ 3.00 Soda $ 3.00 TOTAL $ 59.02

To celebrate National Clam Chowder day I ventured to the Shell Café as they have a sign which says they have the best Clam Chowder. Chowder– The broth had a good thickness and flavor. The added celery was a nice touch as it gave it some additional color. There were as many potatoes as clams. Calamari– The batter was crispy and the meat strips were very good and not at all chewy. The only negative was I’m a big fan of tentacles which there were none.
