Love Steaming Bean! I treat myself every Sunday to a large Iced Mocha. The workers are very nice and helpful. Their breakfast burritos are good too!

Brother and I Ordered two large vanilla bean iced coffees from Amanda at 130ish on a Friday. Ambience is amazing. Old school and quiet with 20 somethings quietly working on their computer. Amanda was very friendly and recommended this drink after we asked what was most popular. Drink is very good! Great unique taste and no bitterness to the coffee. A+. A block walk to the ocean view. Grab a coffee and walk down to the pismo beach area!

I live within walking distance and used to frequent as often as I could. Over the last several months I have found that I wait longer and longer for service and food/drink. I appreciate the coffee and the consistency of the product. But, over and over I have had to wait too long. Sometimes I have been late for work despite showing up earlier and earlier. When I hear other customers complain the response is always that they are waiting for the 2nd or 3rd employee of the day. Sometimes they say that she doesn’t start until a certain time. So, not sure if the employee needs to be scheduled earlier or if they are not showing up on time. I hope the service changes because I prefer to give my business to locals whenever I can. As it stands I don’t think I can continue coming here.

Steaming Bean is a great alternative to your corporate chain coffee shop… A true local gem in SLO county. If you are visiting for the weekend, it’s worth checking out. You’ll see locals, college kids, and surfers hanging out. The shop was recently mentioned in Sunset Magazine as a place to check out. I recommend the Mexican Mocha or the Vanilla Bean Latte.

This is the best coffee shop I’ve been to in the five cities area. The coffee is the best and the atmosphere is great as well. Coffee drinks are served in unique vintage mugs and there is artwork from local artists inside. All coffee shops in five cities area should take notes from this place. If you are visiting the shell beach/pismo beach area this is a great place to visit.

I love the food and drink selection here. Simple but tasty. A nice little place to hang out. Unfortunately I’ve experienced a disheartening trend in the service lately that keeps me from giving more stars here. They seem to be adding staff(or maybe I’m just seeing different faces), which is cool, because it does take a while to get your food and drinks. However, the more new faces I notice, the more it feels as though nobody working there really wants to be there… No smiles, barely a «hello,» no customer engagement. It doesn’t feel good to go into a place you like and feel as though you’re inconveniencing the staff.(And for goodness sake, don’t take the wrong drink… If you’re hoping for some graciousness to help you feel less like an idiot you won’t get it ;)) This may be different for«regulars». Hopefully it’s temporary because again, I do really like their food and coffees, and have experienced very nice service in the past.

I always stop by this coffee shop on my way home to Los Angeles. The shop is conveniently located right off the 101 freeway. Their coffee is delicious and the service is always friendly and prompt. They’ve kept the local store atmosphere without sacrificing on cleanliness and quality. You must try the breakfast burrito! It comes out piping hot, fresh ingredients and you will likely take half with you because it is generously filled.

I had high hopes for this place(the ambiance is cute, relaxing, and very hipster-esque). Sadly, I was disappointed. The oatmeal was room temperature, and although the texture was fairly good I expected it to be, well, hot. The breakfast burritos were sort of lumped together on the insides and didn’t taste fresh. In fact, a little warning: this place doesn’t even HAVE a stove. That’s right, they microwave everything(that includes eggs, rubbery potato wedges, bacon, sausages, etc.) Not impressed.

I actually very much enjoy this place… bean many times(haha). The specialty and regular drip coffees are actually quite good. I am only writing this review today to comment on a negative experience I had. I went to grab a blended vanilla drink for my son and a sugar free chai latte tea for me. The blonde girl who was taking the orders spent a lot of time chatting up the guy in front of me. They may have known each other. a little flirting is fine. But she was obviously distracted or doesn’t care. when it came time to my order, I repeated it about 3 times — a blended vanilla and a hot chai tea latter. What came out? Of course, a blended vanilla and a blended chai. I was very frustrated and sure, every one has a bad day. But this cashier needs to get her priorities straight!!! DISAPPOINTING!

This place was awesome. My husband and I were staying in Pismo Beach for a few days and stopped into this local coffee joint. The girls working there were very helpful and gave great suggestions. The vanilla bean latte was amazing. My husband got the red eye, and he enjoyed it as well. For breakfast snacks, we had a spinach-feta croissant and an oatmeal blueberry muffin, both were excellent, and they warm them for you. If we lived here, we would absolutely become regulars!

The Steaming Bean rules! Great coffee, killer iced vanilla chai latte, and the food is amazing. Tried the Mediterranean scramble, and my boyfriend got a breakfast burrito– both so good. They also have crazy blended coffee drinks and smoothies– haven’t tried those yet, but definitely will be back to do so!

The girl that took my order didn’t even greet me, let alone make eye contact with me. I’ve been a barista before and I know the importance of welcoming your customers in the morning especially when it’s early. Having someone greet you with a smile can set your day up to go in the right direction. Then they messed up on my order and both the girls just stared at me as if I were the one who made the mistake, the way they handled it was not in a perfessional manner. I know a lot of locals that go there but always say the girls are never in a good mood. Just SMILE! It makes a huge difference. :)

I am in love with the Steaming Bean. We were just visiting Shell Beach, but if I were a local, I would be here every morning. The atmosphere of the place is so inviting, like it’s your best friend’s beach house and they also happen to be baristas who can cook. My husband and I stopped by for breakfast before hitting up Central Coast Kayaks right next door for our kayaking expedition. We both got coffees, and we got a lemon blueberry muffin and split their breakfast burrito. I’m so glad we decided to split the burrito because it was absolutely HUGE! I couldn’t believe how big it was, and it was loaded… Eggs, potato, bacon, avocado, basically anything you could ever want in a breakfast burrito. And, then they went the extra mile and grilled it on a panini press(OMG)! The blueberry lemon muffin was also very good(tasted like it was made fresh that day), and the coffee was excellent. This place is the bomb dot com!

Stopped in on our way home to Sierraville. This’s place was warm and inviting. The old guy on the front porch gave me a cigarette. Good coffee and food. This will be a regular stop for me when driving by.

This was recommended by our hotel manager. It’s a quaint place located on the main street of Shell Beach. People are friendly and the atmosphere is great! There’s ample seating inside and 2 – 3 tables outside that can accommodate 2 – 3 people each. Parking is street side but plentiful. The coffee is definitely way better than the chain stores like Starbucks and Peet’s. My wife had the latte which she really enjoyed. I had the«nutty blend» and the«Kauai blend» both of which I enjoyed. There’s a mixture of pastries and sandwiches available which I’m sure is also good(we didn’t try any) or at least they looked and smelled really good! I recommend this place who wants some COFFEE other than Starbucks of Peet’s. The reason for the 3-stars? The girl that took our order also prepared a bagel for someone else without washing her hands(she handled cash just before she prepared the bagel). I’m glad the coffee is self-serve and the person that made the latte was working that station only and not handling money.

I came here on the last day of our vacation in shell/pismo beach. I needed to get some good coffee before heading back to Fresno this place hit the spot! we ordered an iced Mexican mocha. It comes with 3 shots of expresso and ground chocolate! That’s right, it came with actual Mexican chocolate inside! That was a first for me! It was awesome! Not to bitter and full of flavor. Service was great too! I recommend this place to anyone visiting the area!

My friends and I ordered: breakfast burrito with sausage, pastrami sandwich, sesame bagel, iced mocha, iced kona mocha, and hot white mocha. Everything was on point and delicious! I would love to try their waffle next time :) Also, customer service was awesome! Everyone was very nice.

We’ve passed by this place numerous times and finally we stopped in on a Sunday morning. I was impressed by the variety of coffee options, blended beverages, smoothies and a decent breakfast menu! Their prices are also really good for the area! My husband got the pigs in a waffle and it was awesome — served with strawberries(see picture — YUM)! The espresso drinks were delicious too! Out little guy loved the little kids play corner with a play kitchen and some toys — such a nice little touch and kept him busy so we could enjoy our coffee. That is priceless, my friends. They also have about 4 small tables outside on the sidewalk and a good amount of tables on the inside — it looks smaller than it is. We will be back — maybe for lunch next time!
