Gave it another shot; glad I did. freshly made Belgian waffle +maple walnut ice cream was delish… apparently they use a batter with actual pearl sugar(=authentic belgian waffle). Something I really appreciated about the maple walnut was that the nuts were toasted(it’s the little things!), and you could taste the freshness of the ice cream. Nothing kills me more than when I go to an ice cream shop and the ice cream tastes anything like freezer burn… There was absolutely none of that here. The shop is small, cozy, but comfortable. Docked 1 star ‘cuz I feel the price I paid is a bit outstanding for a waffle and 1 scoop of ice cream, at a little over $ 7. (but at least it didn’t disappoint, right?)

Stopped by tonight with the lady for some ice cream. Kind of bummed we were both full from dinner because the open faced ice cream sandwich with Nutella cookies looked so freaking good. But we both got a regular cup ½ Peanut Butter Fluff and ½ Banana’s Foster. Their ice cream is made fresh in house and ridiculously creamy and I’m pretty sure they legit make banana’s foster and mash it into the ice cream, it was seriously delicious. Definitely popping in again soon to try the waffles or open face sandwich! Place is nice and small with a bunch of tables to eat inside or out. Good job guys, just snagged the best ice cream around crown

I love this place! The ice cream flavors change, so there is always something new to try. They had a maple walnut ice cream my last visit that was amazing! They also have Belgium style fries that are so good; they come with dipping sauces. I tell everyone to come here.

This place is a hidden gem and the best thing to happen to Pitman in the history of ever. Not only is the service delightful, from the friendly owners to the sweetly quirky server, but the ice cream rivals some of the richest, most decadent ice cream on which I gorged in Europe. PMS. The Nutella and brown butter sundae may not look like much, but it is dangerous. I scoffed when I saw it for the first time, yet I could only eat about 50% of the delicate looking confection. The cookie had a sweet-and-salty thing going on, and the chocolate ice cream was orgasmic. But this is less a review on Alaura’s and more a critique on the sprawling metropolis of Pitman. Many of the people of this town have a unique gift for ruining a great thing. Whenever we get a new eatery on Broadway, it’s like the cabal of Pitman comes out of the wood work to sabotage it. Why? Is it because some of these business owners don’t have roots that run five generations deep in this small, discreetly inbred town? I’m not sure. I’ve been trying to put my finger on it ever since I moved here in ’07. There’s a little slice of irony, however; Pitmanites want to have a quaint Main Street à la Haddonfield. In spite of this desire, the only businesses that don’t seem to have a freakishly high turnover rate are those owned by the Pitman illuminati. Unfortunately their establishments tend to be little more than shoddy hobby shops. In the midst of places that linger and hold on to dear life like cockroaches in a nuclear blast, the cute little shops — places like Alaura’s, with actual potential, open and close as frequently as evangelical ministers are caught up in prostitution scandals. Please Pitman, for the love of God please, don’t ruin a good thing. For once. Support this business even though the couple that operates it isn’t third generation Pitmanian. Please. The ice cream is not good. It is fan-freaking-tastic! And since we all know that 90% of Pitmanites never leave town and, thus, refrain from this crazy thing called traveling abroad, we can reasonably conclude that they have never known the joy of eating bona fide, artisanal ice cream. So do yourself a favor especially if you’re Pitman born and raised. Go to this place. Often. Savor the ice cream and other wares. Look past the inconsequential fact that the owners aren’t fifth generation Pitmanites and support their business, and not just because they make a high quality product at a very reasonable price, but because the economic livelihood of the town center verily depends upon it.

Stopped in for some ice cream on a Monday night, about a week after Alaura Kitchen opened up. Inside of the place was very nice. You can tell the owner wanted a place for people to stay and enjoy their treats, not get it to go. As for the ice cream, absolutely amazing. I got the peanut butter flavor on a cone and I have to say, it was the best peanut butter ice cream I have ever had in my life. Other peanut butter ice creams are vanilla swirled with PB. This was straight up PB ice cream. It was delicious. My mom and sister got the bananas foster which was also incredible. You could taste the fresh banana. I did not get the chance to try my dad’s mint chocolate chip, but it was the last of the barrel that Alaura’s had, so I assume it was the daily best seller! They are adding waffles to their menu for waffle and ice cream combinations, and also serve fresh, double-fried frites with a host of sauces. I will absolutely be returning to get some more ice cream!
