Poor service, lady was rude and messy Our food tasted awful and the plastic plates they served to us were dirty obviously used and the cup was broken Mango lassi was chunky and smelt spoiled The pani puri and bel puri was of poor quality taste for the price Worse place I’ve ever been to

Had high expectations, but the food tasted rather bland. Not the desi food you would expect in a grocery food. The chhole were not the amritsari or the pindi chhole type preparation. The aaloo paratha was not bad. Kinda tasted homemade, & not greasy. Very casual sitting area. The prices were very reasonable. I dont want my money back but may not stop here the next time in Dallas.

This place is a complete nightmare! This has been the worst fast food eating experience ever. I had to wait half an hour in line only because the lady taking the orders wasn’t the fastest processor. And there were only 3 people ahead of me. While we were waiting she had the nerve to take orders from others who approached her directly at the counter without waiting in line. The lady had the audacity to do it even after protests from everyone waiting patiently like decent people. Once it was my turn, I decided to just pick up something that was already prepared since I had waited enough. Unbelievably, I had to wait another half hour to be served food that was sitting right there. Again, with no respect for people who had been waiting all along, people who camE in later were being served before those still waiting. This place is neither staffed nor equipped to handle the amount of traffic they wish to attract. The staff is rude and has never heard of being courteous. I for one am never going back in there. Having spent an hour for fast food was a good enough lesson. This was my second bad experience here. The first time I waited at the counter and the ladies supposed to be taking orders just walked about looking right through me and ignoring me completely. I waited for 5 minutes before walking away. I decided to give them a second chance but I’m never going back there a third time.

It’s cheap, edible, and filling, but it’s not the best. It’s definitely authentic, though; don’t go looking for the chicken tikka masala. When you enter India Bazaar, take a right, and you’ll see a counter plastered with various signs describing the items and specials on hand. Trays of fried snacks — pakoras, samosas, and the like — lie under heat lamps. Step up and place your order; pay at the register to the right side of the counter. Since it was time for dinner, I skipped the chaat. After briefly considering the pav bhaji special, I went for the Gujarati thali($ 5.99, a fantastic price for the amount of food I got): four rotis, a papadum, some snacks(a fried pepper and a vegetable cutlet), rice, pickles, dal, two hefty portions of sabzi(one of potatoes and okra, and another of peas), a glass of buttermilk, and a gulab jamun. The meal was more than enough to fill me up and more, but overall, it was a bit mediocre. I hate it when rotis get old and slightly leathery, and honestly, none of the dishes really stood out. Of course, the rice and dal were fine(those are hard to mess up), but the peas were a real chore to get through. I did enjoy the potatoes and okra, though. Regardless, given this place’s proximity and good prices, I’ll probably be back. I’ll need to give the chaat a try; I love a good pani puri.

Decent place but not great, worth trying if you want a change or Indian snack

This is not a restaurant so much as a snack counter inside a grocery. You will find three or four tables to sit at and enjoy your food, but no waiters or anything like that. Chaat Express is inside the India Bazaar grocery at Spring Creek and Alma. If you are not familiar with Indian/Pakistani food, you will enjoy roaming the grocery store portion and checking out all the neat items while you wait for your food at the Chaat Express counter. The food at Chaat Express is so delicious. I really love the pani puri and various chaat items they offer. Also good are their curries and breads. The prices are very, very reasonable(you can get a snack, entrée and drink for $ 10 or less) especially since you can taste the freshness and also the care put into the meals. I believe the owners are the people who are always there working, and they are all really nice people. If you aren’t sure what to order, just talk to them and they’ll help you find something tasty that you’ll like.
