I hate leaving negative reviews but I was so disappointed in this restaurant. Our server was very sweet but the kitchen staff was terrible. I was having brunch with two other people and yet larger parties who came in after we ordered got their food long before we got an explanation for the hold up on our meals. The server said my waffle had been burned but the other food was ready so I told her to bring out everyone else’s food(no sense in making everyone wait). Their food was freezing cold and neither got what they had ordered. After half an hour the server came back and simply said, «the waffle isn’t coming.» No explanation, no offer of a solution, just«the waffle isn’t coming.» It seems as if this is a popular occurrence after reading others reviews here and on Urbanspoon.

Note… Please read my Update section below, things have changed. This restaurant delivers on its promise to deliver delicious home cooking to your table. A great team of friendly staff help bring the down home feeling to you from the moment you walk in the door. If you are looking for unpretentious, which is all too common in too many restaurants if you ask me, then this place is for you! Nothing fancy, in fact quite the opposite… just good food and good folks. It’s the type of place that you go to for breakfast and then come back again for lunch or dinner, no joking as we did just that… then went back the next day for dessert! So in my visits here are my recommendations so far: For breakfast, try the biscuits sausage and gravy and tell me they’re not as good or better than your mama used to make. I also enjoyed the pancakes, light & fluffy, perfectly griddled and then delivered piping hot to our table. I also had eggs, perfectly cooked to my favorite over medium. I mention that, not because that eggs are special, but having them cooked perfectly to your order is… Dinner: Upon the server’s recommendation I ordered the cheesesteak sandwich. They got my attention when the menu said«Forget about Geno’s, try Daisy’s…» –I did and I Did! My wife ordered the chicken fried steak, a favorite decadence of hers of which she has become somewhat of a connoisseur. Until this, her favorite has been from Clark’s in Tioga(yes, we drive all the way out there when the chicken fried steak craving hits her). Two bites into her chicken fried steak at Daisy’s she looked at me and stated, «We don’t have to go to Tioga anymore.» So now for the insider scoop… be sure to check in on Unilocal when you go because a certificate for a free cookie will pop up when you do! Anyway, I highly recommend this place for those times when you want some good olé home cooking that’s even better than home cooking… no offense grandma! UPDATE: I have visited Daisy’s a few times since my original review and I guess the first time that I must have caught them on a really good day. I am saddened to report that they have failed to live up to my original review on my subsequent visits. In fact, my food has varied between very average to somewhat poor on the 4 visits I have had since then, this I have lowered my number of stars to 2. Here is why… our next breakfast visit revealed to us they have changed everything about the biscuits and gravy… now, the biscuit is not as good(I believe it may actually be a wheat biscuit, at least I hope that is why it was brown) and the gravy was a lackadaisical standard bland gravy with link sausage sliced into it, rather than the delicious sausage gravy we got on our first visit. I am going from them being«must haves» to saying, personally, I would avoid them. On our next lunch visit, we also discovered our first chicken fried steak was a fluke as well. Our service has just been ok since our first visits as well. It’s disappointing to see a place change so much when that change is not for the better. I wish Daisy’s luck, as I am always a fan of the sole proprietor, but I have to say, I can’t imagine myself going back again.

This place is just a simple homey restaurant. The service is extra friendly and make you feel welcome. The food is decent and is fair for the price. If you’re looking for a simple place to just have a good cheap meal with a smile, this is your place.

Went there twice for dinner. First time the wait was horrendous, meat dry and drinks like cough syrup. Second time, wait was better, food was atrocious. So if you want a place to go have karaōke, then after you’ve ate, stop by. Otherwise, avoid like the plague.

Had the Italian sandwich and I was not very impressed. The Italian seasoning was overwhelming, the meat was a little peppery and I pulled out a whole Basil leaf from my food. Trust me, the whole leaf was not tasty. The vegitables on the sandwich were cold so the mixture of cold and hot food in my mouth wasn’t pleasing. The service was great and the food didn’t take long at all to come out. Very friendly staff.

Home cooked comfort food. Whomever is cooking today knows what real homecooked means. I had a great lunch of chicken fried chicken, mac and cheese, and green beans. Between the décor and Davey Crockett playing in the background I thought. wtf… 50 year time warp. Food and service were both great.

Breakfast was fairly priced for the quality and quantity. Happy Hour drink specials are one of the best in Downtown Plano. Huge liquor selection. Servers are very confused and scattered most of the times we have been there. Bartenders seem to be more organized. Should get much better over time, once they settle in more.

This place must be run by the 3 Stooges. The place is cute but grubby, as in not-quite-clean-enough. No one greets you or seats you or even tells you to seat yourself. No sign said to seat yourself. The waitresses were having to bus tables and sell ice cream at a soda fountain for walk-ins in addition to waiting tables. Their computer was«down», so the kitchen apparently can’t make orders from a handwritten order ticket, which made the orders take forever. The waitress said the cook keeps the spices«secret», so I was afraid to order some of the food. I wasn’t asking for a recipe… I felt bad for the waitresses because they were working really hard against what looks like a hobby for owners who may be using Daisy’s as a hobby.

I saw the sign on the window: Homecooking. It peaked my interest. The food was pretty good. Service was subpar. The young lady looked as if she would rather be elsewhere. I asked for my free cookie, since I checked-in and they were perplexed, but gave me one without a lot of questioning. It was good. If I am in the area again, I will probably go back, that is if I have quite a bit of time. Took a while to get the food.

We wandered into Daisy’s a few Fridays ago on a relaxing bar hop adventure in Downtown Plano, and we’ve been back 3 or 4 times sense! The food and drinks have been great every time, and we’ve always had good conversations with the owners and bartenders(something we look for). Floor service was a touch slow, but I think the waitress was still learning the ropes. I want to try more of their cakes and pies, and the breakfast still. The pecan pie w/cinnamon ice cream was delicious!

My wife, daughter and son had lunch here for Mothers Day because Vickery Park was packed. I usually just do a good/bad with my review, but I wanted to mention that our server tried very hard to keep things quick. She was a little off her game with the order, but I liked her and felt timeliness of the service was not an issue. Goods: Neat place, clean and open. The cookies RULE and are served warm if you wish(Check in while you are there for a FREE cookie). Prices were very good and food presentation was nice. Bads: I ordered the Stuffed Pepper(On the menu it says it comes with 2 sides, but I was later told the menu was wrong, ooook). The FOODWASBLAND, no flavor at all and the pancakes are like any other place. We ordered our kids meals early only to find out later that when we decided to order our meals she was holding the kids order(I know, waitressing 101). Good luck to this place, waitresses seemed nice, place is cool, but the food and lack of waitressing skills are hurting this place.

We ended up here after leaving Urban Crust(see my review), and didn’t know what to expect. Overall, the food and service was okay, not great not bad. When we walked in, there was one only one table that was occupied. Our food took awhile to come out even though there was one only one other table. I ordered the Daisy Dawg with sweet potato fries. This is probably the longest hot dog I’ve ever had. My husband got the Deluxe Daisyburger. He was excited about the cheesy center, but was very disappointed when he bit into his burger. He was expecting it to be more like the famous juicy lucy. They didn’t add much cheese and it wasn’t melted fully.(which by the way, cost extra for the cheese). On top of that, his burger was a little cold. My daughter ordered the wings and garlic parmesan fries, and she really liked them both. Our waitress was friendly, but the food took too long especially since we were the only other table there. When we got the bill, it was more than I expected. With the quality of food, I think we paid too much. Probably won’t be back.

Not too bad, not too bad. We ordered the waffle with strawberries + a veggie omlete. The waffle was great, but it’s hard to mess that up. The strawberries on top were fresh and ripe and amazing. The veggie omelet had plenty of onions and bell peppers, but not too much of any other vegetable. I’m NOT a fan of onions and bell peppers. The service was nice and friendly and quick, most of the time. It’s a quaint little place, but the seating isnt’ too comfortable for long visits with friends/family. Also, they have TVs all over the walls playing sports and FOX news.

Mom and I came here for Sunday brunch — I let her choose the location and she found this place in the paper. I am loving all of the fantastic non-chain restaurants showing up in downtown Plano! This place was no exception. It has a bit of a diner feel with southern charm. The breakfast menu had lots of options, I ordered pancakes/bacon and my mom got the skillet scramble. My pancakes were nice and fluffy and two strips of bacon were thick cut and delicious. I had a hard time finishing those pancakes but they sure were good! Their lunch/dinner menu looked pretty good and had a variety of things to choose from. They also have a full bar and lots of dessert options. I would love to come back and check out what else they have to offer. It’s a great little place to check out if you’re in downtown Plano looking for down home eatin’.

We stumbled into Daisy’s this past weekend looking for something«good» to eat. If you have ever told your significant other«I want something good,» then you know what I mean. I really enjoyed the biscuits and gravy with a couple of scrambled eggs on the side. Whoever scrambled those eggs– has had some practice! I was told the chicken-noodle-soup is «the lick» also. Not much for decorations, and the staff doesn’t dress up — but it’s good food, good service, and a good price. Try it!

I like the feel of this place, it’s very laid back. I have gone for lunch and for brunch. I enjoyed the food both times but the service was a bit lacking. When you walk in no one really greats you or tells you what to do and if you don’t get your order in right away they take forever to get back to you. I can let that slide though for now due to the fact that they are new and it doesn’t seem like they are fully staffed yet. The food makes up for it. For lunch I had a burger with sweet potato fries. The burger was juicy and flavorful, the sweet potato fries were wonderful. For brunch I had the waffle with strawberries and whipped cream, very, very good. I would recommend the place, hopefully the service will be better once they have more people on board.

Oh boy. Finally decided to stop in for dessert after walking by a few times and admiring the great looking pies in the case. My husband and I were interested when this place opened especially since we frequently are in the downtown Plano area. I’ll start with the positive — the service was great. The gentleman that helped us at the dessert counter was extremely friendly and very helpful. He described all the offerings available and was quick to offer up suggestions. Also the price was good — our two desserts came in around $ 6 and were fairly large. Oh, and they serve Henry’s homemade ice cream which is always a plus. As for the not so great — the food, which is kind of the most important part. I had a brownie sundae and my husband had a slice of the key lime pie. Neither were very good. The key lime pie was an alarming shade of green and the taste was somewhere in the plastic family. The crust was equally disappointing. It definitely tasted like it had been manufactured somewhere and arrived frozen on a truck. It did look pretty though! The brownie didn’t taste very good either. In fact, it didn’t really taste like much of anything. It certainly did not have that rich chocolately flavor that you would get with a homemade brownie. I think I ate more of the ice cream than anything else. Perhaps desserts are their(very) weak point, but I don’t know that we’d be willing to go back and try some real food. You’re better off stopping at Braum’s down the street to satisfy a sweets craving!

After my first review, I received an offer from Daisys to return and have dinner on them. This time, I had a group of 8 and didn’t tell them about my first experience since I figured if they saw my review they might not come with me. This was a MUCH better experience.(I made sure not to identify myself til the end to make sure they wern’t putting on a show). I had the flat iron steak sandwich which had very flavorful steak that was cooked medium rare just like I wanted it. The Mac n cheese, which was so-so last time, was homemade this time. I told my friend not to get it, then someone else at the table did, and we both regretted not ordering it. Overall, everyone was satisfied with their meal. Hopefully the guy running the kitchen from my first visit is back at the Waffle House because as long as every visit was like last night, I will be back again(especially for their late night hours).

Name change: It’s now Angela’s. Nothing else has changed: Great food! Great service! New atmosphere! Great folks who work here! I especially love their chicken fried steak! And their burger is among the best! Everything on their menu is exceptional. The desserts are all home made by Angela and the best to be found! They serve the famous Henry’s home made ice cream! They also have great food for folks who want vegetarian. Several evenings they have small bands that are very good and there’s also karaōke. You want great home style cooking? Come to Angela’s in beautiful downtown Plano, Texas! Closed Sundays.
