Been here n number of times, my fav for a quick bite. Should try veggie masala taco, nachos and taco salad

We have had several friends tell us how good the food is here. I live close by and had never tried it. One night, we didn’t want to cook, so we decided to pick up some food from Jimboy’s Tacos. As with a lot of other reviews, the young man that took our order was polite and gave us some ideas to try. We ordered a combo of 6 tacos, a side of beans and some guacamole. It really was good. Yes, a little greasy, but enjoyed the fact that almost everything is gluten-​free. The guacamole was great with our tacos. The beans were just ok. Nothing fancy. We will definitely come back to Jimboy’s Tacos.

Excellent!!! If you like spicy, I recommend you get them «torched». Also a good selection of salsas and other fixings. Staff is friendly and genuinely interested in your experience. Great guys!

Been going to Jimboy’s since the very early 70’s in Northern California. It was a staple throughout high school and college. It is an acquired taste but great. Today I’ll drive 45 minutes to an hour for a taco. I hope they continue to expand. Now that on of the family members runs the Dallas facility the quality has returned. I hope they continue to expand.

I love this place! The taco shell with Parmesan cheese is awesome. This is a game changer as no one else offers it. I get the beef taco and spicy Diablo shrimp. I don’t know what the heck they are putting on that spicy Diablo shrimp but that sucker is good. I find it funny that people complain about the tacos being greasy or unhealthy but the it’s not called Panera or Zoe’s Kitchen… Its Jim boy tacos and it’s gonna be greasy. I love it and eat it knowing it’s not healthy. I eat here 2x a month and always pop a couple tums out the door but I never regret it because once again that taco shell and spicy Diablo shrimp makes it all worth the while. Swing in there if you are in Plano for lunch. You will be happy.

The jimboys taco is off the chain! I added sour cream to make it complete. Just when i thought that was the best on the menu i ordered the chicken taco. Best season ive had at a taco spot. @iamfatpimp

Service was polite enough. I had the street tacos. The meat was OK but the onions were diced too big and the tortillas were straight out of the package! They were doughy tasting and they fell apart when you try to pick them up. Protip, heat them on the griddle about 30 seconds each side and the flavor will improve as well as being more easy to handle. Salsa bar needs limes too, although it comes out with limes sometimes you just need more and lemons are not the same. The green salsa was tasty. Crème filled churros were the best part of the whole thing. If I need a sweet treat I’ll definitely get these again. If I want a taco I’ll go to one of those spots that only takes cash.

Great service by jim! It was our first time gave a great recommendation. First place i likes corn over flour. Tacos were filling at a great price.

First time trying this place out.
The gentleman who took my order was exceptionally polite. He made sure I understood the menu, was very friendly and helped me lower my costs by combining my tacos into a meal. I took a seat in their booth area and, with a big smile, he brought my food to me! Very sweet people working there.
There were at least 5 different salsas ranging from mild to spicy. Certainly cleared my sinuses!
I ordered a Diablo Shrimp taco and a Steak Asada taco. Both were delicious and I was VERY surprised to see parmesan on the outside of the taco shell.
On their own: the sauces, perfectly cooked meat and very fresh Pico de Gallo is enough for 5 stars but the parmesan really brings it over the top.
Not to mention the incredible service.
Oh! And the music kept me jamming the whole time. Great casual place to go with anyone!
This was a no brainer and I will most definitely come back!

Stopped in here last Saturday night. Great food! The whole family liked it. Tried the carnitas burrito. Good stuff. We will definitely stop by again!

I wanted to like this place, and it was A-​OK, just as the Unilocal description for 3 stars says. First off, the location is right off of 75 at the NW corner of Spring Creek. It was pretty empty for a late lunch on a Friday. It is a n order at the counter and pick your own table type of place. Their offerings were varied, from combo plates, to street tacos.
I had the enchilada combo plate and it was decent. A good amount of food, but nothing special. The sauce was rather bland and a bit greasy, but hit the spot nonetheless. There is a salsa bar and plenty of indoor seating. A lot of people came and got theirs to-​go while we ate there. The staff was friendly and if you are in the area, it is worth a stop in, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here.

Sadly, my high hopes turned into great disappointment. Won’t return. The food wasn’t so good at all.

I’m a former Sacramento, CA resident and Jimboy’s was the only food thing I missed about the area. It’s just as delicious as it was back then.

The lady who took our order was very nice and helpful. First, wrong taco was delivered to my little girl, they fixed it. Chicken taco was okay, but greasy. The shrimp in my Diablo Shrimp taco were translucent, they were all undercooked, and the sauce was a mayonnaise sauce, also greasy. I told the nice lady, she offered me a coupon, but I declined, I didn’t want to go back. She offered me a refund, we declined, no refund was going to fix any food poisoning they might have caused me. I’m never going back.

This place didn’t really do it for me. Stopped here on a whim and was greeted to an empty house. Nice lady took our orders (Nachos and tacos) and we sat down.
The food was… salty. geez! The chips were salty, the meat was salty. It just wasn’t that great for me. Thw food was hot and the parmesan on the side of the taco was a nice touch but I couldn’t get past the high salt content.
Maybe if the cook adjusted that part, I’d come back and try the street tacos but not anytime soon.

The steak street tacos are delicious! However, they are TINY for the price. Also, the corn tortillas came straight out of the package without being heated. They kept breaking and collapsing when being bent to eat the tacos.

Been here a few times with my husband and it’s usually dead. Tacos are always pretty good but the sides I can do without. The rice and beans that come with the meal are cold and the rice is not cooked and still crunchy. There were dirty tables everywhere and no containers for the salsa bar. Did I mention we were the only ones there? Well besides the young girl that came in and immediately went behind the counter to flirt with the two guys in the back.
Maybe I just got them on a bad day. But today I was disappointed.

I rate this place 5 five starts strictly on their street tacos and service. I ordered take out. The gentleman who took my order was polite and helpful. The second gentleman, who did not know that I had been helped, asked if he could help me. I brought my tacos home and realized that an order was missing. I called Jimboy’s Tacos about it and they did not question me. Simply asked would I like a refund. I was like heck no! I’m coming back for my other two tacos. I actually didn’t say heck. Just no, that I was going to send my son over to pick them up. They were that good — so good. I’m glad to have discovered a taco place that delivers such home tasting tacos that taste healthy and at the same time, fulfilling. I’m sure that you will have the same experience if you give this location a try.

Stopped in with a groupon. First appearance was that it was dirty. Floor was dirty, tables were dirty, bathroom was dirty, even the napkin holders were dusty. Had the nachos and tacos. Food was average at best. Would not consider coming back.

great tacos! I had the grilled chicken, while my friends had the ground beef one. all of us loved our food! the service was great and you also get free chips and salsa!

Stopped in for a quick lunch while running errands. The guy at the counter was so helpful! I asked him for his recommendation and he was right. I went for the number 1, an original Jim Boy taco.
It was crispy and delicious. I asked about their ability to accommodate food allergies and the knowledgable manager told me how everything is cooked to order and all allergies can be worked around. Can’t wait to go back!

Good customer service and nice, casual environment, but the quality of food wasn’t the best. I’ve had better fast food nachos. We ordered several different types of tacos and really the best thing was the shell. It’s a corn tortilla that’s fried and make the tacos uniquely Jimboy. They are a bit greasy, but worth trying — just go with the original beef taco. The salsas were pretty standard. I actually preferred the taco sauce over the salsas.

My boyfriend and I shared the steak nacho special (on Monday) and the shrimp & steak taco plate. The nachos look small but actually very filling if you order tacos with it! I wished it included more steak on the nachos. The taco shells are really good because it’s not your typical soft flour tortilla, nor is it a store-​bought crispy taco shell. The shrimp taco has some heat to it, but I personally liked it. We also ordered the ground beef taco, which was recommended to us by the worker. That was really good, and I think everyone should try it at least once, as its probably their most popular taco. Each entrée came with a large fountain drink. Ate dinner with a Groupon, and I thought it was a pretty good deal. Not the best tacos, but not bad for a quick fix for a reasonable price. Friendly staff!

! What an amazing surprise it was to find out jimboys came to texas! I moved away from California 10 years ago and to this day my mouth waters when I think about jimboys beef tacos. Just as amazing as I remembered. I hope they put their actual stores around texas as I am worried about their success in a strip mall.
Only word of advice is that the two times I’ve been there the taco shells were burnt, as in black charcoal was falling off the shell and the parmesian cheese wouldn’t stick on cause the shell was falling apart. Still amazing taco but I think the kitchen staff is just figuring out their stuff.

One word: DISAPPOINTING! When the highest quality and best testing item is the crème-​filled churros, 2 tacos for $ 1 at the Clown in the Box is the better choice (and their Churros are cheaper)!
Nachos had dried out beans, cold cheese sauce (more like clumps). My wife tried the tacos, suggested since it was our first time — the grease was literally pouring out of the tacos.
The chips and salsa were edible, but will not be back nor would I recommend this establishment.

Patrick was a great host and he took great care of us !!! This was our first time to eat at Jimboys Tacos — Wow !!! All the food is made from scratch and taste soooo good !! We had the special 2 ground beef tacos — chips and salsa and a drink for 5.99
My Kids loved it too !!!

California Avocado Salad + Grilled Chicken
$ 5.79 +$ 1.99
Very skimpy on chicken. Grilled chicken hard and over grilled. (Crunchy) minimal avocados. Disappointing.
Grilled Steak Super Nachos. $ 7.99
Almost no meat. Meat was seriously overcooked and salty. Lots of sour cream. (Way too much) This was slopped together and also very disappointed.
Queso was a very low grade commercial cheese + oil blend. Nasty.
Original Ground Beef taco. $ 2.99
Not impressive. Just OK and comparable to products at ½ the price.
Salsas were not very good but there was an assortment.
Overall:
Not a good value. Would expect they will go out of business in less than a year.
If this were not discounted on a Groupon, we would have asked for refund and left. Sorry we didn’t do that but the Groupon complicates that type of activity.

Just when you think it might have fizzled out… dallas gets another taco shop! Excuse me… taco chain!
Jimboys tacos has planted it’s feet in the lone star state! This chain of restaurants is 40 strong in the northern California aka sac and reno/​lake Tahoe areas… so why not dallas?!?
The dust of construction is still settling but it’s a super concept. Edison light bulbs hanging from the roof and the paint on the the walls airbrushed to really look like those of a cavern. Employees are dressed in what resembles a cross between an Indiana Jones flick (prior to that Disney kid Shia LeBoeuf or whatever) and the caregiver of curious george… but they manage to keep positive attitudes and are so welcoming.
Now the food. Parmesan dusted crispy grilled corn tortillas filled with ground beef, cheese and lettuce??? I’ll take 20. Seriously 20.
They even managed to make decent sweet tea seeing how they were from «nor cal» I was impressed.
They are not serving full menu just yet but that will change in the next few weeks.
Plans of two more stores are rumored to have leases already signed… hopefully closer to a train stop.
There are 3 tvs hung and beer application in window. So mega score. Will be back again and again
