If you come here, come here for the wings. The wings are the absolute best in town– no contest. The reason for my review however is the beer… Terrible. The lines are skunked. The lines have been uniformly skunked, for years. Do not order a draught beer here, good luck getting anything of quality in a bottle.

One of the great elements of these well worn towns like Plattsburgh is that there are relics from another time that cements the concept of unique. Monopole is a back alley joint… a very old wood laden cozy bar. Just a fantastic warm place with a great bartender who talked with me about her hometown and some of the wonderful eateries in Utica I have had the fortune to visit. Very social bar patrons as well. Of course given we are in an alcoholics wonderland of –5 degrees in Plattsburgh NY in Feb: Cheap drinks. Will be back after the thaw for sure!

I bartend here because it’s my favorite place in Plattsburgh. Draft beer selections are diverse, pitcher deals can’t be beat, chicken wings are always crispy, and staff are always friendly. Come see me on Tues and Thursday nights!

Wednesday nights are best spent at the Monopole. Best wings, great staff, low drink prices, and amazing music.

The Stoner wings and Sicilian pizza deal is killer! $ 22 for 20 wings and 6 giant slices of pizza! Besides great price they are the best wings I’ve ever had!

My only regret in life is that I don’t live closer to Monopole’s. This place makes the BEST wings on earth! They are meaty/crispy wings that are cooked to perfection with a tangy and spicy sauce that should be bottled and sold in every supermarket in the country. If I were on death row my last meal would be Monopole’s wings and an ice cold Molson Export Ale. This is the type of place that you could spend the entire day at sitting by the bar, shooting pool and hanging out with the regulars. I often wish that I could quit my job, leave my family and spend the rest of my life at Monopole’s. The pizza is also very good, although I have never consumed it while I was sober. I was also told that Teddy Roosevelt went there while president which is pretty cool.

This is what I think about when I want to g to a great college bar! Its half a sports bar, half a weekday after work bar, and half and live music bar. It has two floors which separate the different atmospheres. Come here to have some incredible sings in the sports bar area on the first floors. The wings are awesome. Not so sure about the pizza though. Come to play darts, pool, watch a game, etc. It is always a good time. Get a $ 2.50(it may be 3 dollars now) pitchers of beer on particular nights at well. Perfect for a college student. Music is always playing during the weekends in the upstairs area. I have heard some awesome bands play there. its truly a great time. You can dance, or just enjoy the music from a stool at the bar. Its a dingy looking place, but I guess it adds to the small town college atmosphere. Its nice that it is low key. If you get there early enough you might not even have to pay a cover charge. Then you can enjoy music and a fun night for free… if your not buying a drink of course. I am not back home from college. but my boyfriend and I sure do miss this place!

Oh monopole, the nights I’ve spent inside you are nights to remember, that is if I can remember them Haha. But really, I’ve had some good nights and some mediocre nights, like when the bartender handed my boyfriend and I some drinks with flies in them, and when I asked her about it, she just was like I’ll change it if you want me to. Unremorseful, we drank them anyways because hey it’s the college life. Cheap drinks($ 2 Saranac Pints how can you go wrong?) and only a couple blocks away from your on campus or off campus residence makes this place a must go! It also brings in a pretty wild and entertaining crowd. The music played here is also pretty good. The wings were either a hit or miss. And trust me you’d be happy when you got them and they were a hit. When they were a miss you were just happy you had something to munch on and did not pay too much. How I miss Monopole. No worries I will be visiting when I get there. :) One of the best bars in Plattsburgh.

This is where the locals go. Ok so its a bit of a dive. Loud, dark and a bit dirty. But the wings are killer good, and cheap! Drink specials are also really price competitive, and they feature them daily. They feature local bands on the weekends upstairs, and also host local fundraisers which I really appreciate. If you go late or on the weekends you are going to get inundated with drunk college kids, and it gets pretty crowded. This goes double for wing night. But you can always take your wings to go(BESURETOCALLINWINGORDERSONTHURSDAY!). The pool tables upstairs on the right are usually pretty open, which is a good place to hide if you dislike large crowds and don’t mind standing. Also cash only, but there are several ATMs nearby.

The wings and pizza are by far the best I have ever had! If they shipped them I would order once a month. Please start shipping!

One of my all time favorite college bars. Good stiff drinks, easy on the wallet. Sit at the front bar during any afternoon, and chat with the best bartenders in Plattsburgh. I make it a point to stop into Plattsburgh oldest bar whenever I’m in town. If you’re ever in town, stop in for a slice of the best Sicilian style pizza and grab a beer and soak up the old school…

Your quintessential dive bar and college-student hot spot, and you know what? I’m OK with that. Cash-only is my only gripe but the super cheap menu of delicious wings and Ellio’s-style thick, square pizza is a great compliment to the long list of cheap(but not bad) drinks. There’s a concert area upstairs that plays host to your generic jamband tomfollery, but it’s fitting for Plattsburgh. I’d go back for the sports bar/decent music/and college vibe. Best time to go is when school’s not in session as apparently the place can get mobbed. Sunday and Wednesdays = $ 2 Saranac drafts which is a win(yup, totally went on a Wednesday).

My absolute favorite bar in the world. Always great music, whether it be live performances or just tunes on the stereo. Great atmosphere, and plenty of things to do. Bars upstairs and downstairs, as well as a little«pitcher window» on the the first floor where you can get $ 1.75 pitchers of rolling rock on week nights. I lived in Plattsburgh for two years and i wish every town had a place like this.

best. bar. in the world. as a frame of reference for how many nights i’ve spent at the ‘pole, i’ve lived in boston for 3 years and i still don’t get ID’d here. they’ve got it all — nice long bar, back room with booths, erotic photo hunt, pool, darts, hit or miss live music upstairs, usually good classic rock mix downstairs, cheap drinks, awesome pizza and wings for when you get hungry, and a great crowd. the green room and peabody’s are right next door which syphon off most of the douchebags so you’re left with a pretty good mix. plus the«smoking lounge»(alleyway right out the front door) is usually good for some entertainment. last time i was smoking outside the monopole i saw some really fat redneck chick trying to fight a bouncer at peabody’s. when i’m in town you can usually find me here at night.

I went here while visiting my brother over the weekend. I like the laid-back atmosphere. It’s kind of like a two story house inside, which is cool because there’s often live music upstairs but if you want to actually talk, you can hang out downstairs. I like that it’s a total mix of locals and college students and seems to totally lack pretension. Even better, it’s remarkably cheap. I’d probably go here often if I lived in P’burgh.

Good bar downtown with a mix of college and locals. Music upstairs. Best wings in town as far as I’m concerned. Pizza is Chicago style. Pool table, darts, and dancing. Nothing super special, but it has been here forever.
