Ramen here is awesome. I’ve tried them all and now I have a hard time picking which one I want. We get takeout from there all the time and the soup is still nice and hot when we get home which is great.

If looking for Ramen in Pleasanton, this is your go to spot. I had always wondered about why people were so obsessed with #Ramen so decided to try this out when it opened nearby. I don’t remember what I got, but one of the spicy ramen dishes. Ordered out, so not sure about the dining experience but it’s very spacious and luxe inside, with plenty of booths for group meals. Just don’t get the sushi, it was overpriced and not their specialty. The soup was excellent! Yum Yum in my tum.

I’m new to the ramen shops, but this one gets it right. Their spicy pork has huge pieces of slow cooked pork, and the broth is rich, red and spicy. The soft boiled egg is so sublime, and the sprinkles of garnishes make this dish beautiful and delish. The place also has a decent sashimi. Limited cable TV(they couldn’t play a warriors playoff game). The seating area has all these wooden partitions, making this restaurant more intimate and private. My kids got the beef and onion ramen, wow. That was great too. The chef takes pride in the ramen ingredients…

So, over the years, I’ve slowly grown to the liking of this place! In all honesty, my hesitations about eating here was always about ‘ramen NOT being served by someone Japanese’. But after going here for lunch and dinner, at least six seven eight times, I’ve gotten that thought out of my head. Yes I did read all the helpful reviews, and over time, their ramen has gotten better compared to anything else in the area. When coming here, we’re usually served by Winnie who seems like she’s the only waitress there at times, but she gets the job done! On one occasion, she took the time to tell us about the place. So, no issues with service. Typically, their ramen ranges from $ 12.50 and up, with Special Ramen sets for about $ 15.95. That would include a bowl of ramen with some sushi(salmon or tekka maki). Totally worth it imo. Their tempura is good, while their chicken karaage is disappointing. I don’t really get their sushi rolls or sashimi only because I know I’ll compare them to Yakitori West in freshness. I tend to order the flavorful and spicy tan tan men. I don’t know what it is, but it simply delish! I notice from time to time, they’ll have fresh yellowfin tuna or uni, but for the most part I’ll stick with the ramen. As far as dining, it’s wooden all over and clean. Parking is not an issue, unless you come here during lunch time as the surrounding businesses tend to flock towards this area. But dinner shouldn’t really be an issue. Overall quality of food and price match up. I can see how people would give only three stars, but they’ve earned my fourth over the years.

I was so excited to find out there is a ramen place nearby until I tried the food. Two stars is due to lack of customer services but decent ramen. What the heck is ramen? Aside from just being a bowl of soup and noodles, there seemed to be no specific standard – no tight rules and no limitations. The one ramen bowl that is well known here is the Kurumayu Ramen(black garlic sauce pork base soup). It is very different than what other ramen shop in the Bay Area offer. Besides the black garlic, the Tonkatsu Ramen(pork flavor pork base soup) is pretty good too. Other than the mediocre ramen, the customer service is lacking. The décor is not anything special to write about. Also, I would advise not to order anything else besides the ramen. I have order appetizer and their lunch menu which are worse than the ramen.

Moderate-sized restaurant serving Japanese cuisine such as sushi, ramen, gyoza, curry, and teriyaki. They are located in a small shopping plaza next to several eateries, right off the 680 freeway. Parking is available via the plaza parking lot shared with the neighboring businesses. They offer a fair amount of indoor seating via their sushi bar and semi-private, enclosed booths. I liked the privacy of their booths. Also, I’m not sure how they pronounce their name, but ka-né means money in Japanese. I thought this restaurant might be authentic, but they were not. My husband and I came here for dinner on a Saturday night, and it was surprisingly empty. Their fairly small menus are marked with lots of hand-written notes and edits with white-outs. It certainly didn’t look professional or presentable, especially since no two menus look exactly the same! We ordered the gyoza, Kane deluxe tonkotsu ramen, and spicy ramen. Their specials are not listed on their menu, but are on the whiteboard by their entrance so be sure to take a look. However, I’ll forewarn you that they are pricey — the deluxe ramen cost 16 bucks! Their gyozas were oily, soft, and tasted frozen, but ramen was OK. Noodles were firm and both ramen came with a decent amount of toppings(boiled egg, green onions, bamboo shoots, corn, kikurage mushroom, chashu pork). However, the tonkotsu broth was not rich or ‘porky’, and their chashu pork slices were super thick and tough, like steak. I’ve never seen chashu served in huge chunks like that. Overall, portions and flavors were alright, but certainly nothing memorable. Service wasn’t great either. They don’t offer any condiments or spices other than soysauce, and when we asked if we could have some chili oil/flakes, our server told us that our spicy ramen should be hot enough for us. Due to their poor service and mediocre dishes, we don’t plan on returning. I also felt silly paying so much for their deluxe ramen special when it’s not much different from their regular ramen apart from a few extra toppings like cod roe and a quail egg.

I’ve given this place three tries before offering my judgement and I believe it’s time to have a say in this joint. Mind you, Unilocal reader, that I judge ramen shops mostly the combination of how the food tastes with each component. I always go for the Spicy Ramen and the third time the broth was much more flavorful. I like their chashu, egg, and other toppings that come along with it. To be quite frank, my first two experiences were actually not so good because of the reason that the broth did not taste very good to me. However, I am not sure if this shop has a new chef or changed up their broth recipe because the third experience here had been a successful one. I knocked off an extra star because the shop did lack in quality of their customer service. This is something they should focus on, as it could literally kill or save an entire customer’s experience. This place is acceptable to eat at if you are in the area of San Ramon/Pleasanton/Dublin and do not want to drive out farther for ramen.

So happy there’s a ramen place in this area! I love the look and feel of this ramen place, it’s pretty large but they’ve made it so that it looks like its a little ramen hub like they have in Japan. The individual enclosed booths adds to the market style feel which I adored. The ramen was super yum with the right amount of umami and bite. I wouldn’t say that it’s the best ramen I’ve had, but it’s good! The location is also awesome, with great parking. Will be back if I have a huge ramen craving!

Came here on a Friday night with a friend — empty restaurant in the corner of a plaza. Looks pretty dead to me, but it’s a Friday night in the suburbs, it’s pretty common for me at this point to find near-empty restaurants in East Bay on a Friday night. Grabbed a menu and noticed the organization of the items were messy — some items were scratched out with pen, some new ones were written in pen. Lunch menu started on page 3 randomly but dinner menu starts on page 2. Interesting. I suppose they could use a change of menus. Ordered the black kurumaya(black garlic) ramen for $ 13.95(ouch.) for dinner and my friend got the spicy tan tan men for $ 13.95 as well. The bowl came stacked with my favorite ramen staples — bamboo shoots, a boiled egg, a piece of seaweed, etc. and I found myself having a hard time finishing the bowl. However, the broth was nothing special and it was decorated with way too much unflavorful garlic that looked like more fancy decoration than flavor enhancer. This satisfies my ramen cravings when I don’t want to drive far, but for the price and the taste of the ramen, I could do better elsewhere.

I’ve driven by this place so many times BUT tonight I finally stopped in to grab a bite. Straight to point, I had the Pork Ramen dinner, my girl had the Spicy Pork Ramen and the lil one had the avocado rolls, btw they dont have a kids menu, thankfully the rolls were bite size. To sum it up, if your in the area and love ramen + a full menu of other non ramen items then this place is worth a try. Forgot to mention we also tried the soft shell crab appitizer and wern’t dissapointed.

Their customer service is lacking because they are understaffed. My waitress didn’t bother with the two minute rule after serving my food. She only came by once I finished eating and then delivered the check. Advice to management: hire more servers during the day shift

We went here for ramen but we’re disappointed by the very small variety that was offered. We were hoping for more of a big city ramen style place with lots of broth choices, lots of different noodle choices, and lots of meat and veggie variety. But there were only a few ramen dishes available. The menu was no different from any sushi restaurant. I think if you put the word Ramen in your businesses name, you should make that your specialty and be pretty good at making it. The ramen we did have was overly salty and did not stand out at all. Add to this the fact that it was a warm day and the air conditioner either wasn’t working or was off. The front door was propped open but it didn’t seem to help much.

Kane Ramen was the first thing I noticed coming in for the interview. A ramen shop in Pleasanton? I have to check this out! Unfortunately for my first few weeks, it has been incredibly hot outside, and hot soup isn’t exactly comfort food on a hot day. The second time I came up to Kane was actually hitting up Sultan Kabob — members of my team had already gone to Sultan and everyone else raved about it. So after picking up my food, I swung by the other restaurants here to grab some menus. I did notice that even on a hot day, Kane was pretty empty where was Sultan was packed. Hmm… Checking out the menu, things looked great — 7 types of ramen(vegetable, tokotsu, soyu, miso, spicy, karumayu, yaki niku), a full sushi menu, lunch specials. Hmm, now I’m wondering if this is a ramen shop with sushi, or a sushi bar with ramen. On a Friday lunch, craving ramen, I finally went in. 100 degrees outside and the outdoor seating for Sultan is packed, but Kane is empty. Regardless, the key takeaway is all in the looks and presentation. The interior is gorgeous, with wood benches and tables, a generous air conditioner unit, and incredibly friendly and polite staff. I ordered the Karumayu, or black garlic ramen. It was quickly served and the presentation was beautiful. Without a doubt one of the best looking ramens I’ve ordered. However it was probably the blandest ramen I’ve ever eaten. I may have been spoiled by the kuro ramen and Maruichi, but the best part of the karumayu ramen was the bamboo shoots. Even the pork was overcooked. I did eat it all, but definitely nowhere close to the ramen in the South Bay. Pros: +Beautiful interior +Great AC +Quick service +Solid presentation Cons –Not much flavor

It’s nice to find a ramen house in Pleasanton. Really, this place has been a number of things to include a burger joint called«Rings.» I never darkened the door(Why on earth do we need another burger joint!). I came to Kane Ramen because my son insisted and because he wanted to take my wife here for her birthday. While the service wasn’t the most prompt the food was good and I liked not dealing with a huge crowd. I came back here for lunch and was pleased not only with the food but the service. As soon as my beverage got to the bottom, the server was right there with a refill. I’m sure I’ll return!

Our first time to try their dishes. We liked what we ordered. The black garlic ramen was tasty and yet not salty. It had sliced pork and egg. The chicken Karaage also tasted great! No msg on any of them. We definitely will come back to try their other dishes. Place has great ambience and very neat. They had good customer service, too.

It’s one year since Kane Ramen opened and I have patronized them a half a dozen times. The Ramen is still very good but the sushi is bad. I went late last night at 8:30 pm and not a soul in the joint. Just two servers no sushi chef, no customers besides us. No background music, light turned down, eerily quiet, almost ghostly. Every section of the menu has pen and marker alterations. The special board has a Deluxe Kane Ramen for $ 15.95 which is what I ordered. Even with Kane Ramen’s real competition Ramen Hiroshi to the north in Walnut Creek, Yokohama Leiki in Union City to the west and Dohatsuten in Fremont to the south so far away, how they do justify the prices. Here is the good, bad and ugly. Good: Ramen items good broth and flavor Location with plenty of parking Clean dinning area Bad: Prices are high even for the TriValley Kitchen items besides Ramen Vinegar(ponzu) and terriyaki sauces. Ugly: Sushi bar no sushi chef and no customers Menu has cross outs, hand written in items tacky tacky. Specials Menu board cross outs and half erasures I really want this place to last and it’s Ramen option in the Pleasanton. But the ownership should take off its dark glasses and re-evaluate the sushi bar and Japanese kitchen items.

UPDATE: Yay! Went back to Kane last night and got the Hamachi Roll, Black Garlic ramen and boyfriend ordered the Miso Ramen. Hamachi roll was yummy — the fish was fresh and the sushi rice was nicely vinegary. Black Garlic ramen — probably my favorite ramen at Kane. I like this better than the Miso, Shoyu, and Tonkatsu ramen. The garlic can be overwhelming at times, especially if you’re not a garlic fan. But I love garlic, so the broth was awesome. Highly recommend. Miso ramen — I had a couple bites and not my favorite. The miso was a little overpowering for ramen broth for me. —- First, Santouka and Orenchi are still better in my opinion. BUT, I have been waiting for a decent ramen place in the East Bay. I have tried a couple, but Osaka Ramen in Dublin was terrible and The Ramen Shop in Berkeley was overpriced. I ordered the Tonkatsu ramen. The noodles were yummy and had a nice bite to it. The broth was a little bland for my taste but once I added some spice it was good. The egg was cooked perfectly, and chasu was decent. BF ordered the Shoyu ramen and rated it on-par with Santouka’s. The broth was a little salty for my taste but still flavorful. We also got gyoza which was better than your average at a Japanese place in the Tri Valley. Also, our waitress gave us hot towels when we were seated. She was friendly and attentive without being over bearing. The restaurant in general was very clean and spacious. I’ll definitely be back — I want to try the miso ramen!

Inconsistent and overpriced. What once was a beautiful chirashi bowl with thick fresh cuts of sashimi has now turned into scarce thin slices of the good stuff, stubby cuts of the OK stuff, and a wad of imitation crab and oxidated spicy tuna mush. I reserved my review until after 8 visits and this establishment has progressively gotten worse with the initial quality of sashimi and sushi. The ramen is just overpriced. It tastes fine, but for $ 16 a bowl, I’d rather go somewhere else.

Came here for a second time for lunch, and I tried the spicy ramen this time. Unlike our previous visit, the pork slices had visible small layers of fat, and were actually soft and juicy this time! The ramen broth had a nice kick, but wasn’t super spicy. Wife got the miso ramen and she commented that here pork was juicy as well. For the improvement in quality, upping my review to four stars!
