This place SUCKS! I’m surprised more people don’t get food poisoning like I did! The fish isn’t fresh, the«flounder» is actually tilapia, the shrimp is grainy, the«fresh» lobster is mushy, the same bland sauce is used in everything, as a matter of fact. EVERYTHING is bland! I don’t understand why people go here. Either they don’t know what good food IS, or they just go there because it sucks the least! Even the employees don’t eat the food! I have inside information that they don’t have the best food practices in the kitchen either and have multiple violations that somehow go unnoticed. This place should be shut down! I’m sickened knowing what I know now that I know what really goes on there.

Ok spot, but super expensive for what you get. I really think the people writing all of the rave reviews must never get out much. Inside is super cramped, but the food and service is better than outside, but that is not saying much. They close for several months in the winter, probably because us locals know better.

great place to go if you want a sub par dining experience with sketchy seafood. all the fish tastes and smells like its been thawed and frozen 10 times before getting your plate. food is bland and unseasoned, you would be better off going to the shrimp box. there is no love in this place.

I would rate this a 10 plus. Food was outstanding and service was excellent. I had the crab cakes and it was 100% crabmeat no fillers. My husband had a dish with crab and lobster and gnocchi that was also excellent. For dessert we had coconut cream pie that was so fresh and amazing. This place is a hidden gem and worth the trip.

I went there on Sunday Afternoon on May 1, 2016. I was in Point Pleasant for the NJKUFA walk. we were cold and a little wet from the rain and wanted some Lobster Bisque. We both ordered a cup of it. I also had the Fried Scallops. These were the best scallops I have ever had n my life! The servers told me they were from Point Pleasant ! Excellent. they were very sweet and cooked to perfection. I loved them. My friend enjoyed the stuffed flounder. I can’t wait to go back again!

Went to Red’s with a group of 4 people. The atmosphere was very enjoyable. Tables are first come first serve outside. Inside area is small and seating is limited. You are able to sit dockside and is very pleasant on a nice evening. The way Red’s works is you place your order at the walk up window and then the food is brought to your table. The timing of the food was off for my party. Everyone’s meals came out separately despite being ordered together. We ordered a Lobster roll which was made with lite mayo. It also had very large chunks of lobster. You are able to sub corn on the cob for fries and this is a plus for those looking for healthier options. The fish and chips had lite breading and was not too oily or heavy. The chili tuna with black bean and avocado salsa was not as spicy as expected. The tang of the salsa paired nicely with saltiness of the fish. The crab cakes had a good ratio of crab meat to bread crumbs. Overall, Red’s is a great spot for some tasty seafood with an even better view!

This is the review is for the outdoor section. The indoor part has a different menu and a different paradigm. The lobster roll was great, strategically finding the right place on the lobster roll purity spectrum with a little bit of mayo and chives. As for the famous lobster bisque, I’m wondering if I’m just not a bisque guy. The peel-and-eat shrimp were excellent. I felt like these crustaceans were getting smaller and less tasty over the years, but Red’s proves that giant, tasty shrimp aren’t just a hallucination. The seasoning was ideal too(Old Bay or something like it). The menu seems a tiny bit expensive($ 15 for a mahi mahi sandwich) but Red’s has good food in a summery location, and does fine work in getting the crowds moving quickly.

…closing soon for the off-season… Authentic. Institution. Not for you if you want filler. Get there early if you have a group, or sit outside. BYOB and save room for their ridunk desserts.

First time after hearing about this place for most of my life. I had the lobster special that comes with corn and slaw. My girlfriend had the lobster roll which looked delectable. We also had an order of fries(A must!). I thought that we would have too much food but it was just the right amount. A couple of points, it is BYOB so be sure to prepare. Also, parking can be crappy so ride a bike or walk if you can.

I LOVE Red’s. I’ve been coming here since I was a little kid. My mom would bring us here and we’d leave with a brown paper grocery store bag full of lobster. Back then each lobster was $ 2! As an adult, a beach day is not complete without a Red’s lobster roll and a shared pot of steamers! I like eating inside and it’s been nicely redecorated by the new owners. It’s not fancy at all, instead it’s beach town quaint. The outside might be a little grungy, but it’s a lobster shack. Don’t expect fine dining outside. The food is just as good since ownership has changed and it’s probably due to the fact that the same chef has been working at Red’s for the past 21 years. The lobster roll is packed with lobster, served on the typical buttered potato roll, and comes with cole slaw and chips. The steamers are perfectly cooked in a slightly spicy broth with celery. They are served with a more reduced broth than they one they are cooked in and butter. The broth is so good that I use my empty steamer shells to eat it like soup. Delicious.

Finally made it to Reds Lobster house as most times it’s too crowded. I loved the causal feel, order at the window, find a table and they bring you your food. I might not be saying the above when it’s packed with people. Anyway, all good by me. Now to the food… Clam strip platter– clams were fresh but were extremely over fried. Lobster was $ 29 a pound… crazy expensive! I was ok paying the price as it was the end of August in a beach town, and we were craving lobster. The bigger problem occurred was the lobster itself. No flavor and extremely tough to chew. Extremely disappointing considering that’s what they specialize in. If your going to charge quality seafood prices, at least back it up with quality food. Too many other lobster places around town to go back.

What happened here? My first time eating at Red’s since post-Sandy. Used to be great, with fresh, creative fish dishes, much of it local. The owner then(Kitty?) was so genuine and friendly. But today’s lunch changed all that… I had the worst Mahi Mahi sandwich of my life and my friend had the soft shell crab sandwich. Both were skimpy in size and served on horrible«Wonder» Bread, a single small piece of iceberg lettuce and one thin slice of unripe supermarket tomato. Served with stale potato chips. We sat outside on a dirty, make that filthy, deck with sticky tabletops. Service was non-existent. I don’t know what happened, maybe new ownership, or maybe they’ve given up, but the once full parking lot was empty when I arrived which should have signaled to me this place’s glory days are over, sad to say. Two stars only because of the view, otherwise a one.

The food here was excellent. The only thing I had a problem with was how unorganized it seemed. One waiter told us to find a table while another one told us there was a waiting list, so it was a little confusing. There was no one really directing people and telling anyone what was going on. The service was pretty bad, but we loved the food.

Overpriced(understandably so bc it is by the board walk) and the portions are not very large. You can order at the window and eat outside or you can eat inside for full service and a slightly different menu. My meal came out 10+ min after everyone else’s. I was left eating alone. Then the order was wrong. They offered to bring us a slice of pie to make up for the mistake.

If spending $ 25 on one lobster roll with french fries is your idea of spending money on ONE dinner, then go here! We stopped in @10pm after the July 3 fireworks and got two lobster rolls to go…$ 50! Right around the corner is SHOREFRESH restaurant. Lobster roll with french fries $ 10.99. It was more delicious too. Less mayo and more lobster. Will NEVER go back.

Stopped by because the Patio Bar was too crowded on a Wednesday night & after spending the day at the beach we were dying for some simple, local seafood. Thought we’d give Red’s a try. After ordering at the counter, we waited over a half hour, despite the crowd not being bad at all for the shore. We ordered coconut shrimp(5, no sides), fish & chips(2 pieces), crab cakes(2) w/fries & one child’s order of chicken fingers. All fried food, nothing spectacular, plus a fountain iced tea & two Apple juices. We paid over $ 100 for tax & tip, I’m sorry, but for a mediocre view, no live entertainment, slow COUNTER service, no follow-up from a server, and these kind of prices, that’s ridiculous, despite the average view. If you want to spend this kind of money for decent seafood per plate, go to Chef Mike’s ABG in Seaside Park for excellent food, service, & atmosphere. Top of the line. If you’re looking for a quick bite that won’t disappoint after a day at the beach, hit up Point Lobster Co. for their amazing(& inexpensive!) Connecticut-style FRESH lobster roll or lobster bisque for next to nothing. Enjoy cold BYOB drinks as you eat on the inlet. Overall, Red’s was a typical fried-food tourist trap in an «okay» locale. Tasted like everything came from a frozen box at Costco. Eat fresh – don’t eat like a tourist. So many great options in this area!
